This is a deep tea. It’s really smooth and malty. I especially like it with a spoon full of sweetened condensed milk.
A rare aged, fermented tea from Yunnan, China, pu'erh stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor and woodsy tones. Clean, damp forest aroma, dried mushrooms, leather, and earth. A slight sweetness of figs or dates yields a mellow, grounding cup.

This is a deep tea. It’s really smooth and malty. I especially like it with a spoon full of sweetened condensed milk.
All the reviews of this were like, 'This sounds completely disgusting, but I promise it's super tasty!' So I took the words 'fishy' and 'earthy' as fighting words and had to try it. And really all I can say is... those people aren't wrong. It's dark and rich and REALLY smooth. I barely had to add any sweetener. It left such an impression that later I wanted a second cup and found out that these leaves resteep beautifully and really can be left to steep however long while you're finishing something else. For something that I jokingly called 'graveyard tea' when I ordered it, I ended up really loving it.
This tea may be, for some, an acquired taste. I'm a black tea fan and enjoy this on a cold morning. Hits the spot!
Very good, nice earthy, mushroom taste. Has a nice aftertaste and 'smell' in the mouth too.
Deep earthy taste with a slight clay-like taste. This is my favorite pu-erh tea by Adagio. Good for multiple steeps. Can steep upwards of 30 minutes.
This tea is dark and looks almost like coffee. It is one of my favorite teas.
Interesting taste, not bad but you definitely have to be in the mood for this one
I enjoyed the smooth taste of this pu-erh tea. And I like that i can brew multiple cups.
This is my first Pu-erh, as someone who has only recently started really appreciating the differences in premium loose tea. This was wonderfully earthy, and smells almost roasted. the aged flavor comes through with that slight hint of fungus.
This is a great tea I will enjoy on cold mornings.
I was hesitant to try this, given some of the descriptions in the reviews, but I really like this weird & funky tea. Sometimes i am just so over the sweet/floral/fruity/spicy/herbal offerings, and I just need some earth. Yeah, i never thought I’d say those words. My MIL used to say, “Everbody’s got to eat their peck of dirt before they die.” I’m not sure this is what she meant, but I’m running with it.
Vegetal, earthy, dark, root beer, loamy, foamy, but not syrupy
This was my first experience with Pu'erh style tea and I have to say it was unique. However I don't think this flavor profile is for me. It's earthy and kind of mushroom like.
Very earthy, unusual flavor with a hint of sea weed deep in the oropharynx. It reminds me of sitting on the beach in front of a camp fire.
I did not like this one very much. Tasted almost fishy to me.
The smell of this tea is a tad bit off-putting. The smell of the leaves steeping made me quite nervous to try the tea itself. Luckily, the smell and the taste did not correlate. The taste of the tea wasn't too bad, it was kind of watery tasting for a such a dominate tea. Definitely not on my top choices for pu-erh.
A little too earthy for my taste, but drinkable. Will probably not purchase again.
Deep dark color. This tea is earthy, smooth, and great.
Very good earthy tea and it is good hot or iced without any flavoring.
I use this tea in a personal blend I came up with.
I've found that people either love or hate this tea, and I'm one of the former. I use it for multiple brewings like the description suggests and it's perfect that way.
Love the Dante, it has replaced our coffee completely ... update, still drinking the Pu-Erh over this summer, but now making it iced! it is delicious!
i always get a lil Dante with every order. It would be my favorite tea of all time. Such a unique tea
I like my tea dark. I have noticed this requires more leaves to make it as dark as I like
Dark but not as 'pu-erh'-y as I was fearing (no fish taste or smell).
Not the best pu erh in taste, but this one is the raw flavor, I don’t think pu erh is good in combining flavors it’s by nature a strong taste . Good for blood cholesterol and triglycerides and for hangovers!
An acquired taste. I find its much better if I rinse the tea before first steep.
This is my favorite tea these days. Great earthy cup. Excellent for repeat infusions. Hearty and hard to screw up.
I really, really love Adagio's pu-erh options, whether flavored or not. They're rich and earthy, brew up to a lovely color, and are delightfully energizing. If you're someone who can't tolerate black tea on an empty stomach (like me, unfortunately), please try pu-erh: I can have it in the morning before breakfast (or any other time) and feel amazing. Pu-erh dante has a lovely smoky flavor, it's great on its own and is also a great backdrop for other warm flavors (caramel rooibos, etc.).
Surprisingly good. It smells to me like caviar - in fact, I was worried it would be salty somehow and that I wouldn’t like it. It’s a reasonable, solid, savory tea that reminds me of miso broth.
Very fishy. Not a great tea for those looking to get into the tea but if you have an acquired taste its ok
This tea is very earthy and deep. I'd compare it to the stout of tea. You can get multiple steeps with full flavor out of the leaves, but it does not pair well with many foods.
Really smooth and earthy with lots of depth. What I imagine leather to taste like-in a good way!
Loving the puerh! The deep color and rich flavor and slightly earthy aroma are so appealing.
This tea tastes exactly like the description - damp forest and earth. It has a deep earthy flavour, slightly sweet and just a slight bitterness to the after taste. It s what I imagine a handful of fermenting forest detritus would taste like. In saying that, it s definitely not awful. It does have a really nice smooth, creamy mouth feel. I definitely won t buy more, but I ll probably finish the bag.
A great pu erh tea, I have friends from China who prefer this pu erh to other Chinese brands. It’s great for losing weight too! This is usually a weight loss tea.
i don't know why, but it tasted like how a barn smells.
I enjoyed my sample enough that I m re-ordering it today. It is a stronger tea with a definite earthy bouquet, but that doesn t overpower the foundational tea flavor. I didn t have very good luck with a second steeping, but I ll give it at least one more go before giving up on that.
I think this is decent for what it is; but it has a smoky flavor that I find off-putting. Of course, I don't like peaty scotches, which have somewhat the same flavor.
Did not care for this one. It lacked the richness of pu-erh that I expected from this tea.
Interesting taste. Earthy and almost a little mushroom-y, which sounds like it would be terrible in a tea, but somehow, it wasn't. Full-bodied and fairly smooth, it mellows well with milk, much to my surprise, without losing its character. So if you over-steep it or otherwise find it confusing, it's worth adding a splash of cream to try rounding it out. My biggest complaint is probably the smell...while it was okay out of the bag, I found that once brewed, it smelled of fish. Yikes.
Thankfully, that smell did not carry over into the taste, but it's not a scent you get used to, either -- you'll notice every time you go to take a sip, and that makes for an odd experience.
I don't know whether I would buy this again, personally. The smell just makes things a little too strange, even though the flavor's not bad.
But for whatever's it's worth, it may be a good substitute for coffee -- my mother's been looking to replace coffee and thought this was full-bodied and flavorful enough to satisfy.
It also was great for a stomachache, so there's that.
The people who describe this tea as tasting like the countryside have it spot-on. This tea is rich, earthy, and vegetal. It's got a steady and consistent taste from sip to swallow.
A bit too earthy for me. Odor and flavor of dirt comes through.
This one was all right. It was a still a little too strong for my taste, but not unbearable.

Never bitter, such a soft tea in the mouth. I like to brew it strong, and the flavor is never compromised.
I know it states damp forest and mushroom, but the first thing I smelled when I opened it and brewed it was dried fish! Like dried sardine/anchovy, and it was gross. The more I analyzed it, the more it began to take on the mushroom/leather smell the description states, but honestly, the fish smell is the worst! This is such a savory tea - like a watered down broth. I couldn t even finish the cup. I ve tried 100 s of teas, but this one was way too out there for me. Too fishy/mushroomy and too savory for me. I have to pass on this.
An absolute favorite of mine! Earthy root flavored tea that does not bitter in any way. This tea has plentiful health benefits..
Love the health benefits of the fermented tea and mushrooms
Wow! Delicious tea! I rinsed off my leaves first though, to avoid getting the fermented smell in my tea!
The best pu-erh on the site. No frills, no distractions. It works as a great base for other flavors but still has character on its own.
