As good as any pu-Erh with a slightly woodsy taste to it.
A rare aged, fermented tea from Yunnan, China, pu'erh stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor and woodsy tones. Clean, damp forest aroma, dried mushrooms, leather, and earth. A slight sweetness of figs or dates yields a mellow, grounding cup.

As good as any pu-Erh with a slightly woodsy taste to it.
Really nice, woodsy and earthy flavor. Not good for people who prefer lighter and gentle teas like florals and whites, but I loved it a lot (plus, it resteeps really well)
Love this tea. It taste really Good. (Earthly smell)
I love the taste of this tea and the feel of it in my mouth. It also makes a very good ice tea. I only wish reviewers hadn't written about the fish smell. I woulnd't have thought about it until I read about it. Still a very good tea.
The smell is the first thing that hits you
My wife and I purchased 12 samples of black tea and each tried all 12. The goal was to find those two or three teas that we both enjoyed equally. This was harder then you would think - I like a black tea that's has a bit more complex profile - my wife wants something strong to replace coffee in the morning. I thought this was an excellent tea, complex yet bold. Of all the Puerh's she has tried this is the one she liked the best, but it's not exactly her, uh,, pun intended, cup of tea. But overall, of the 12 teas, this would probably be 3 or 4.
I am glad I bought this tea, but it just was not my cup of tea. I feel it lacks depth in flavor.
A good intro to Pu-Erh. It has a decent amount of earthiness without being too overpowering. I definitely wanted something a bit heavier, but its great for the price
I was able to drink it several times using only 1 teaspoon. Highly recommend it. It has a nice color and nice smell. I like to drink it with sweets.
By far the best black tea I've ever tried in my life. It's bold, sweet, smoky and very earthy. I am not even sure how to describe the taste without saying it tastes like healthy soil after a nice rain. It really is delicious.
i really wanted to like this, but its to bitter for me. i prefer to use less then a teaspoon and steep for 2-3 minutes.
This is the deepest and most complex pu-erh I personally have ever had. Rich leather and tobacco with a fish kiss makes this my absolute favorite tea...I didn't even know I could have a favorite but it's true love :)
This is not a tea for the faint of heart! It's got a very pungent, almost fishy, scent. The flavor is pleasant and peaty, without any astringency. Definitely an option to keep around for when I'm in the mood for a robust cup of tea.
Maybe I just don t like pu-erh, I m just not a fan of the smokey flavor.
This is a smooth tea with prominent notes of leather. If you’re wanting a departure from standard black tea flavors, this is a good choice!
This tea was too earthy tasting for me. However, I like white tea the best which isn't so strong.
This tea is good, complex and impossible to describe in a way that sounds appealing. It reminds me of hay, mud and mushrooms and that's good, I swear. It's very creamy and has no astringent bite whatsoever.
There is one thing about it that I don't care for, though, and that is the fishy smell. I rinsed it like you're supposed to and that didn't fix it. It's a shame because while the taste is great, the smell is cringe-worthy and that definitely brings the whole experience down.
Earthy and mild. Pleasant aroma and tastes good plain.
It's an okay pu-erh. Nothing really special, just run of the mill really, but it's not bad either. It's a decent cup that I enjoyed well enough. I can't say i would buy it again, but I might.
I was nervous about drinking this one because it seemed like a very dark tea. I couldntvhave been more wrong, its earthy but so smooth. I get why people love this now.
Very interesting!! very earthy and fermented-tasting, which i enjoy. it has a very deep and rich color. it also smells a little bit like fish which is kind of odd but in an enjoyable way
I love the earthy, smooth nature of Pu-Erh. This one requires a quick pre-brew rinse and it is not quite as convienient as Adagio's Pu-Erh Pearls.
Of all the Pu-Erhs on Adagio this was my least favorite. I would recommend the Pu-Erh Pearls over this.
I like the strong quality of the tea just not so much the flavor, but it’s not bad!
A very earthy flavor with a little leather and damp campfire. This is the first pu-erh tea I have tried and I enjoy it a lot. I enjoy some black tea varieties, but often something about a plain black tea like an English Breakfast has something about the bitterness I don't like. I did not find that with the pu-erh. I like this plain but it seems like it would go well with some milk.
I am not sure what I was hoping for, but it tastes very earthy. I will blend this with something. Interesting flavors, but just not for me.
This is a really strong tea, good for a morning wake up but it's not a favorite.
I've had flavored pu-erh before (such as the hazelberry option offered here) but never a pure, unflavored one. The smooth quality offered in the other pu-erh teas I've had is just as prominent. If you're the kind of person that likes to put sugar in their teas to help cancel out bitterness, try this one on its own first. There's a softness to this tea that's really special, and as others have said, an earthiness about it. If you still want to add sugar because you have more of a sweet tooth (guilty as charged), it really doesn't need much.
I love this tea, BUT it won't be to everyone's liking. It's dark and has a thick mouth feel more akin to black coffee than black tea. Very earthy flavor reminds me a cool autumn day walking beneath old growth trees. It's my go-to morning wake up tea.
You can’t go wrong with this Pu Erh! Great flavor and you can get 2-3 infusions out of each serving.
Very interesting flavor. Smooth, it almost tastes like wet cardboard? If I had to describe the flavor that's probably the closest I can describe. While I say I think it tastes like that, I mean it in the best way. This tea is amazing! I could sip on this all day. Lovely mouthfeel and flavor profile. I might have to make this my go-to morning tea!
Honestly just doesn't taste great. I know its a fermented tea but the dirt taste is just too overwhelming.
I really like the Pu-Erh teas. Hazelberry is my favorite but this tea is lovely. It's smooth and earthy. I have added cinnamon and vanilla to the tea with wonderful results. Love the deep rich color!
My new Pu-Erh go-to. Great woodsy flavor but not overpowering.
This tea was a gift to my sister who LOVES it!!! I have not personally tried it yet.
Ok, if you've never had a pu-erh tea then be aware that it's a whole different animal from any of the other black-ish teas you've tried. Think of the intense flavor difference between a white button mushroom and a fancy fungus... that's the difference between black tea and pu-erh. I like think of it as earthy, or even mushroomy, but that's not a very sophisticated description. I enjoy pu-erh teas, in general, and Dante does not disappoint! For me this is a great addition to my Earl Greys and my Chai's as an occasional cup with a warm soul.
A good earthly Pu-erh. Quite standard. It is smooth, but leaves a bit more astringency on the tongue than other Pu-erhs I have.
This tea is alright, I prefer the pearls over this tea for some reason -
Earth, mushrooms, leather. While it does evoke a damp forest floor, it is dry on the tongue. This is a moody tea, old books, leather chair and wood paneled walls on a dark and stormy night. Would be truly over the top with some smoky peat, like an aged Islay malt. Big Earl does like his whisky...
It's earthy and chocolaty at the same time a good rainy day tea
This is a great pureh. Very earthy, and pungent. I like my pureh to have chocolate or nut hints, this does not have those, so it is not my favorite, but I like it for what it is.
I have recently started drinking pu erh regularly after trying it in a lot of different blends and it's become my go-to breakfast tea. A beautiful, rich flavor that's far more interesting that a regular black tea. Goes wonderfully with milk and a little honey if you want to sweeten it up.
I feel like I m one of the few reviewers that didn t encounter this fishy taste with this tea. However, it definitely has a strong earthy flavor to it that is a little hard to describe. Drinking this tea reminds me of hiking through the mountains or being out in the forest after a fresh rainstorm. You know how you taste items and they taste exactly how they smell? This was the case for me trying this tea. Oddly enough I really enjoyed this tea even though I had never tried the Pu-Erh variety yet.
Like many have mentioned this is NOT a tea for everyone and is more of an acquired taste. If you are unsure or haven t tried Pu-Erh teas before I would suggest getting the sample bag before making a commitment to buy anything larger.
The pu-erh aftertaste not as strong on this one which I prefer. I like to drink pu-erh for the health benefits, but sometimes the aftertaste is a bit strong for me, but not on this one.
I drink most my teas cold, but this is my hot boy. Earthy, woodsy, slightly shroomy with a subtle peaty scotch feel.
Read so much about puerh teas and wanted to like this one, but I prefer its cousin, puerh pearls.
My first experience with Pu-Erh teas and this is a good one to start with. You can definitely taste the flavor difference of the Pu-Erh, but it's not overpowering.
Clean earthy flavor. I use this to brew kombucha (with Darjeeling and Gunpowder) and it makes a great brew!
Love this tea like oxygen!!! I made a mistake and shared some with my 3 year old grandson. Boy was that a mistake, he was off the chain for a few hours haha! It's smooth, earthy with a sweet flavor profile with caramel notes. Always on my reorder list.
LOVE this tea. Robust, and I love the smokey flavor. Don't be alarmed by the smell of the leaves. They are a bit pungent, but the flavor is great.
