This is such an odd tea for me - even trying the rinse method seems fail for me - maybe it's just not 'my cup of tea' :)
A rare aged, fermented tea from Yunnan, China, pu'erh stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor and woodsy tones. Clean, damp forest aroma, dried mushrooms, leather, and earth. A slight sweetness of figs or dates yields a mellow, grounding cup.

I didn't think it was possible for a tea to be both unsettling and comforting.
I've never had Pu-Erh tea before, but I really enjoy it compared to other highly-caffeinated teas. I have a problem of guzzling down tea after it's cool enough to drink, thus resulting in jitters. The earthy, smokey flavor of this tea makes me really want to slow down and savor the experience of drinking this tea. I absolutely love it! I think it may be my new favorite!
This tea has smooth and rich 'forest floor' and autumn leaves taste and aroma with hints of leather in the background. This tea reminds me of cool fall weather. One of my favorite pu-erhs. I prefer 1.5tsps in 8oz. of 205F water for 3 min.
This is not a tea I was exactly buying for taste, more for the numerous health benefits, but the taste a,lso pretty awesome. Its hard to explain and the explanation of a barn that people have stated has probably been the closest I could come to to describing the taste, but it is very good. This is a very high quality tea though and you can feel that as you drink it.
A nice rich pu erh, though not at 'woodsy' and flavorful as I like from this type of tea. So far I prefer the Pu-Erh Hazelnut
Earthy and perfect. I sampled this for the first time years ago and I'm so pleased to be drinking it again.
earthy aroma. i drink mine iced with fresh mint. awesome
Definitely an earthy flavor. I haven t tried steeping twice yet but I m excited to. Overall, tastes great!
Ordered this after the Yunnan white put erh. This is not as good
This was the Pu-erh tea I've tried and I can't say I recommend it.
This tea is certainly unusual. It's the first pu-erh I've tried and I didn't know what to expect. When I first smelled the leaves, the first thought I had was 'horses.' I brewed it like a normal black tea, resulting in a deep red liquor. It smells like damp leaves, and has a mellow woodsy, earthy flavour with absolutely no bitterness.
Update: I enjoy this tea more every time I have it. It's like liquid wisdom.
Pretty tasty, but a bit more earthy than I normally go for.
This tea is a whole different animal. Brewing it is the fun part. I produces a beautiful salmon color when you pour over the water, and in time it releases 'dark matter' into the teapot. I takes about 20 minutes for it to finish this process. The nose is very mulchy and fruity at the same time. The taste is actually quite mild despite one's expectations. That's the only negative thing I have to mention. I would like it to taste more bold after steeping for 20 minutes.
I like really strong black tea, so I probably went into this with the wrong expectation. It had a completely different flavour than I anticipated, which was okay but not great.
A good, solid pu-erh. Makes for a wonderful cuppa and brews up a few times if you're so inclined. Even better, it's good both hot and cold and won't get bitter if you have a tendency to forget about your tea like I do.
A pretty mellow Pu-Erh, without so much of the more pungent flavours of other brews. Solid introduction to the tea.
Very different, but I like it. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on adagio's puerh but I'm a fan.
Great earthy flavor. It reminds me of fresh horse stable. That may sound crazy - but give it a try. You'll love it.
There aren't any Pu Erh teas I don't like, unless they are flavored. Earthy, but not too much.
Earthy, flavorful tea with very unique tones. Goes well with a nice dark chocolate.
I love pu-erh teas, and this one had the same smoky notes I love in the compressed tea-balls. However, one of my friends mentioned that it smells kind of like fish, and now I can't unsmell that.
I recently migrated over from a bad coffee habit, and found that the Pu-Erh teas are really great at kicking that edge. A deep, rich body with a satisfyingly astringent finish, Pu-Erh Dante has found its way into my favorite cup.
Great tea for the fall and winter. Lovely natural earthy flavor.
I wasn't crazy about the taste. It was a bit too earthy for me. But, this is the first pu-erh I've tried so I don't have anything to compare it against.
A good regular drinking pu-erh. Steep for shorter times if you intend to use this tea for multiple infusions.
I really like this added to my cherry or raspberry tea which I drink iced. Great flavor.
This is a strong tasting tea, reminiscent of Earl Grey and other more mainstream teas. It is okay, but my tastes run to the Hazelberry and Chorange teas by Adagio, which are utterly divine.
This is a very nice cup of tea. It gongfu steeps very, very nicely. My housemate and I really enjoy how the flavor of this particular Pu Erh shifts and changes over the multiple short infusions.
A great tea to try if you enjoy Pu Erh teas!
Not my favorite but not awful either. Definitely has a lot of earthiness to it but that is a narural trait of the leaf.
Normally I like a sample enough to finish it, but not enough to buy more. Rarely, I'll like a tea so much that I'll decide to buy more. With this tea, I didn't even like it enough to finish the first cup I made. It tastes... weird. Dark, but not bitter at all like black tea or coffee can be. Took a few sips, then gave up and dumped the rest out.
This is what I think tea is supposed to taste like.
This is one of the stronger pu-erh teas I have tried, and so with that in mind it isn't for everyone. But it is a really grounded tea, reminding me of planting a garden or visiting a farm, with a depth of nurture that the description can't accurately capture. The aroma and flavor both are complex, always something new finding its way to tease itself into your senses. It is an almost sensual cup, very somatic, and rewarding.
I'm sure Pu Erh is a very acquired tasted. I just haven't acquired it yet.
Really tasty and expressive pu erh. I steep this in boiling water and let it chill overnight. Highly recommend for a refreshing iced tea.
This is a pretty good basic puerh. They need to carry cakes or tuo sizes.
A va roboist tea with earthy notes. A great tea for a cold autum or spring morning. I like that it can be steeped longer than most teas and still be smooth and not at all bitter
Impressions of being out at the horse farm come to mind when drinking this tea. As off putting as that sounds, it's actually very pleasant. I can taste the essence of fresh hay, barn, dust, earth... It's unusual, but I enjoy it if only for the memories it brings.
I use different French Press for each separate tea, so I can get more than one steeping for each tea. I get three strong enough pressings per pot of this.
I am not a connoisseur of tea; I really drink it for health purposes. That said, I find this pu-erh to be pleasant tasting.
Whilel I give the first use 2 minutes, I increase the time for the next two uses to four or more minutes.
Excellent pu erh!!, prepare to be inundated with flavor!! Take a small sip from your cup. Slurping is highly recommended...it allows more air to infuse itself in your mouthful to enhance the earthy/mineral taste. Then swish it inside your mouth and be prepared for an amazing taste with a wonderful residual taste after swallowing. You can even tilt your head back, as if your gargling, to experience the full range of taste throughout your mouth!! :) Some astringency after swallowing, but that only adds to the experience. Umami!!...that's the word I was looking for!! The umami of pu erh dante is indescribable delicious and long-lasting to make one desire continued consumption of this particular pu erh. Fantastic!!
This tea has a very unique flavor. I tried the pu erh Tahiti tea and I didn't like it much but this one is much better in my opinion.
I don't know if I can give a fair review of this tea because I didn't know what I was going into, and I found out that I didn't like it. I thought mushrooms would be a fun taste, but it turned my stomach and I couldn't finish the sample cup I poured myself. The tea has gone untouched since November, and I imagine that it's stale by now. However, true to Pu Erh form, it was still smooth and well behaved when steeped. I just couldn't get down with the flavor.
Pretty good for an unkown pu, wish they offered pu erh cakes, can infuse many times
What a fabulous dark tea! It has a rich flavor that blends amazingly with the fruit teas I like for iced teas. Definitely am going to buy this one again!!!
This may be your cup of tea. Cheers! I thought that if Dante's Inferno had a swamp, it would taste like this tea. I wasn't repulsed by it and plan to finish my sample size, but will not be buying this tea ever again. Maybe this would be good blended, I don't know, maybe I just don't get pu erh tea. Forgive me tea snobs for my transgression.
Every cup I drink of this earthy, woodsy pu erh tea brings me closer to the trees. I am now beginning to wonder if I am man or plant. 'Friends' have expressed concern about my increasingly greyish-green complexion and my slow, wooden movements. I pay them no mind as I take another sip.
Pu erh tea is so smooth and flavorful. This is a great tea.
I really wanted to like this. Adagio's pu erh hazelberry is my favorite tea, so I was excited to try more pu erh. I have to agree with the reviews that mention a 'fishy' taste and smell with this tea. It's not really a -bad- thing, but it isn't what I was hoping for. I love the earthiness of the hazelberry. This dante (and also the poe) reminded me immediately of seaweed. I like seaweed, but it's a flavor I'd rather not drink. This one isn't for me.
Very smoky with overwhelming hints of earthiness. I have to be in the mood for this tea and I find that adding anything to it merely detracts from the flavor.
Rich and earthy, a good cup, brew time 5 minutes at full boil.
