Pu-Erh Dante Customer Reviews

A rare aged, fermented tea from Yunnan, China, pu'erh stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor and woodsy tones. Clean, damp forest aroma, dried mushrooms, leather, and earth. A slight sweetness of figs or dates yields a mellow, grounding cup.

I haven’t tried much Pu-Erh before this one. Although I enjoy Pu-Erh spice better, this is still an enjoyable alternative to regular black and green teas. Smells and tastes as described in previous posts, but don’t let this deter you from trying it out.

Tastes great, can mix well with other flavors and not have an intrusive taste. I add to my morning tea with Orange Rooibos and Honeybush Vanilla for a creamsicle tea.

First time trying Puerh! Very pleased with this thick, malty brew of tea!

A very complex cup of tea. I like it a lot, but it can be a bit overwhelming.

At first, the smell reminded me of a pasture/very earthy. After a couple of sips, I get a strong grassy and wood undertone. I grew to like it a little more by the end. The earthiness can be a lot to handle if you aren’t use to it. This is my first pu’erh, so I’m slowly learning.

Nicely full without being too 'funky' on the fermentation!

Pu-erh must be an acquired taste. I won’t be putting in the effort to acquire it!

My first experience with this kind of tea: a powerful flavour, like none other. It took me 3 tries to really understand this tea. I prefer to let it cool down a bit (maybe around 50°C) before drinking it

Has a flavor slightly reminiscent of a briny hot pot to me. Kind of a mossy, almost 'stock' like flavor. It s not bad, just not my favorite. My girlfriend thinks this would pair well with crawfish (and she means that to be a compliment). It is very good for re-steeping, as a typical pu-erh should be.

Definitely takes some getting used to. I've never tried anything like this before, but I've come to really like it. It's very earthy and it wakes me right up in the mornings.

My first Pu-Erh tea and I m already a big fan. Really earthy and smooth. Peaty like a scotch.

i love the earthiness of this one, and how it cannot be oversteeped. there’s a whole umami/mushroom/leather thing that i cannot really put into words, but it’s a cup that’s impossible to spoil, and i find that very worthwhile.

Love this tea. I like Pu-erh tea in general, and this is a fine example of its kind. Has a lovely earthy aroma and flavor reminiscent of good mushrooms. There’s a slightly fishy note in the aroma but it doesn’t come through on the palate at all. It can handle milk but I find it to be better without.

My grandparents introduced me to a pu-erh. Haven't been able to find one that I enjoyed up until now. This definitely hits the spot.

I really want to like pu-erh. I really do. I am going to keep trying it but right now it is not my most favorite thing in the world

It's so dark, earthy, and almost mushroomy. It's like being wrapped up in a warm blanket, and it's my go-to winter tea. I can easily get 2-3 delicious cups out of one bag, so it's perfect for days when you just want to keep refilling your mug.

This tea is okay. I tried it because the reviews had me intrigued. It seems to be a love-it or hate-it deal. I definitely don't love it. It smells a little like earth and fish, and tastes about the same. If you put cream in it, it has a pinkish hue, which is a little odd. I tried to embrace the earthy-ness, as I do enjoy some earth every now and then, but this wasn't doing it for me. I wouldn't get this again.

Nice and earthy as expected but I find I prefer the Pu Erh balls a bit more. Worth a try, though!

A woody and dark pu-erh, not a very old tea but has the classic traits that we all love and look for in a pu-erh. Can get a bit overwhelming if you let it brew too long. But that's perfect for after you've done a few infusions.

Not as strongly-flavored as the Lapsang Souchong, this tea provides a great, smoky cup whether brewed by the cup or by the pot - I recommend this one to anyone looking for a full-bodied tea.

I am blown away by this tea. It was my first time trying a Pu-erh tea, but boy was it a good experience.

This may sound like a negative review, but it has the distinct flavor of 'horse barn' to me - the way the smell tastes in the back of your mouth: musty, dusty smells of hay, sawdust, old leather, and maybe a bit of manure. The bottom of a grain bucket. One might say 'earthy, but if you miss your horses, it might take you back... re-brews 2-3 times easily, probably more, but I've been too lazy to try.

It’s okay but not my favorite pu-erh. Reminds me of pasta which is pleasant. Would probably not repurchase but will definitely finish what I already have.

I did not lie this one. I’m not oppose to some weird tasting stuff but this tasted like dirt, in a dusty floor kind of way.

So delicious, smooth, earthy, and mellow. I love that you can steep it until it's absolutely opaque and of course it's never bitter! I always appreciate that pu erh can be resteeped a billion times as well. I love it black, but will also put some milk or dehydrated coconut creamer in it as well. :p

Cant say anything bad about puer teas. I love them but i feel it resembles fujian baroque tea with a earthy flavor. Even a little sour. Sugar doesnt help much. The tast is pretty strong.

Unlike a lot of people, I actually really really really like pu-erh teas. The lack of bitterness and the deep earthy tones are amazing for this tea. I haven t tried many of the other versions of this tea on this site, but they have a lot to live up to for me!

Great earthy taste. Previously, I tried only the more nontraditional flavored pu erh teas (chorange, tahiti, hazelberry, spice, etc.) and had always wanted just the earthy taste. This is it! Love it!

Confession: I feel mystified by the strongly positive and strongly negative reviews on this one. I was hoping for a poetic, life-changing experience with visions of hobbits drinking Scotch, but no dice. To me, it is a mildly flavored, pleasant tea with notes of mushroom. Nothing special, but not at all bad either. I get a slight fish taste when it cools, but only because I am looking for it, I think. I tried upping the amount and brewing longer to see if that would increase the flavor, but still not getting it. Interesting!

I've never had pu-erh before and this was *amazing*. Super velvety and deep and almost woody, and resteeped over and over and over beautifully. Absolutely one I will buy again and I am super curious about pu-erh overall now.

(I won't lie, I bought this because of the review where the guy talks about 'soul glow' etc and I was just waaaaaaaay too curious.)

Classic, earthy flavor, great for multiple steeping. My wife finds the smell of the first brew to be 'fishy', but I do not mind the funky smell.

A really wonderful tea that isn't too harsh or overly-tannic, and has nice, carmel undertones (at least to me it does...). This is the first tea I brew in the morning, and I typically infuse it twice for a second 16 oz cup. The good news is that the second cup tastes every bit as full as the first, with no dilution or loss of flavor. Highly recommended!

Approachable, earthy and toasty. I don't get any bad notes on a first steep without rinse and enjoy that first cup, but I've heard some people don't like the first steep.

Update: can be fishy to some apparently, found out through friends smelling it and saying its like fish food.

Maybe I don't get it but I've tasted mud and it's named Pu-erh Dante. Heard a lot about Pu-erh so I thought I'd give it a spin. Really not what I hoped/expected. I'll pass on this in the future.
