funky pu-erh flavors. If your a fan of pu-erhs then this ones pretty good
A rare aged, fermented tea from Yunnan, China, pu'erh stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor and woodsy tones. Clean, damp forest aroma, dried mushrooms, leather, and earth. A slight sweetness of figs or dates yields a mellow, grounding cup.

funky pu-erh flavors. If your a fan of pu-erhs then this ones pretty good
This tea is so rich and malty! I love the flavor so much I ended up drinking it too fast and I need more. Might buy the larger bag next time. lol @adagioteas
Earth, leather, fishy sea air, and hay, with a nice kick of caffeine. It's an acquired taste for sure! Next time I will try a pre-rinse and see if that cuts down on the fishiness.
Not bad but also not great. I would drink it again but this not an everyday tea for me.
I love this tea and Pu'erh Poe as well. Lovely earthy taste with mineral accents. The scent reminds me of the mountains here after a rainstorm...mineral and woodsy. I love a strong taste so brewed my cup a bit longer. Dante hits the sweet spot for me at 4 minutes. Lovely tea...makes me think of a walk on a mountain trail on a cool Autumn evening.
I was not very impressed with this tea, but that may just be my preference for grassier teas.
First puerh I’ve tried, I have to say it’s quite good! Nice and earthy and it stands up to multiple brewings.
I have had some Pu-Erh teas before and liked them so I thought I would try this one. I don't know if I am brewing it too hot or too long, but it always comes out bitter for me.
Great Pu-err tea. Nice flavor without being too bold.
A mild earthy tea with an occasional taste of mushrooms
Let me start my negative review by saying I do recommend you try this tea. I didn't like it, but you might! I'd just recommend buying the sample size (that's what I did). Also make sure you follow the brewing tips from some of the other reviewers.
I bought sample packets of 3 different pu-erh teas on adagio as an introduction fo pu-erh tea and this was not my favorite. I brewed this tea a few different ways, starting from the instructions on the label, and I could not find a way to like it. If you're looking for an introduction to pu-erh, pu-erh poe was my favorite of the three I tried, and I loved that tea as much as I disliked this one.
This tea has the smooth, non-astringent character of Pu-erh tea, yet it was a bit too neutral for my taste. Pleasant but nondescript.
'dried mushroom, leather and earth' is the perfect way to describe this tea. Not good for someone who is turned off by the more earthy tones, but perfect for someone who enjoys complex, woodsy flavors. It can get bitter easily, so I don't brew it too long. I like most of my pu-erhs with milk, but this one is complex enough that it's good plain.
Earthy-sweet, figgy, and an overall well-centered puerh.
Pu-Erh teas are my favorite, and this one does not disappoint. I did not do an initial rinse. It is lovely the way it is and is not too earthy.
My first time trying Pu-Erh tea and I’ve been enjoying it every day since. Don’t be concerned by its strong odor as it tastes delicious.
A good base tea, not overly complex. I like to use it when I am playing with my own herbs in the tea steeper.
Interesting flavor and fun tea to try, this is a real pleasure with Adagio Communitea
This is a very nice, strong tea. If you like a robust cup of tea without any flavorings, this is an excellent choice. I make a pot at a time using 4-5 teaspoons of tea & sometimes one of the spoonfuls is either peach or mango, just to make sure there's not a bitter after taste. Since I use a VelociTea, I just set it to brew black tea & it's perfect.
This tea is earthy but not fishy or overwhelming. It is a rare Pu-erh that doesn t need to hide behind additional flavors or cream/sugar, although I do like it best with a bit of Pu-Erh spice added in. It s a nice dark tea that is appropriately deep without being astringent or bitter. It stands apart from a competitor s Pu-Erh by being much more palatable and less chalky/fishy. A second brew is a bit lighter and brighter but still pleasant, with a bit more mineral component and cotton mouthfeel at the finish. I usually don t have to rinse this tea, as it is usually not to offensive/fishy without.
This is one of my all time favorite teas, it's my 'go-to' when I want really good straight tea. If you had told me I would love this one a year ago I would have laughed. My taste has changed so much. I now enjoy rich, malty teas like this. The aroma can be off putting to some at times. If it has a bit of odor then it's easy enough to do a quick rinse with it, I rarely need to these days. The color is a beautiful rich dark brown, a cross between a hickory and umber. Smooth mouth feel and absolutely no bitterness. This tea is so forgiving. I have left it to steep so long that I thought it ruined, but no it was just strong. It's the only tea I've come across that you can water down if you make it too strong. No additions are needed for this tea and I feel it's a good base for blends too. Although I prefer this one hot, it is good chilled also. I am able to get at least 3 steeps out of it and what's not to like about that? All around fabulous tea.
This is the tea for all pu-erh lovers! Smooth, earthy smell; great flavor. I add just a little milk, but it's great plain. no sugar needed, unless you like sweet teas!
The reason I didn't choose 5 stars is mainly due to personal preference. Pu-
Erh tea just isn't my favorite. However, this Pu-Erh is the best one I have ever tried. If you like Pu-Erh, then you should be very pleased with this selection.
I really don't enjoy the flavour or scent of this tea, unfortunately. I thought it sounded interesting, and I've enjoyed it in blends before, but on its own.. it's a no from me. Must be an acquired taste?
I was very happy to finally try this !! Amazing how a a real Pu-Erh shpuld tasste !!!
Love to mix Dante with my favorite teas to add the health benefit of fermented tea. I don't est yogurt so this is my go to tea.
Smooth taste, not bitter at all. My only complaint is I don't know how old this Pu'erh is. But it still seems to be good quality for the price.
A bit too earthy for my usual tastes. It's still a good tea for breakfast, I drink it with cream and sugar
For a first time trying a Pu-erh, I'm not sure how to really describe it. It's slightly pungent, and yet mild at the same time. I like the complexity on display quite a bit!
This had a little fishy smell to it so I did the 30 second rinse first. Afterwards, it was still a little fishy tasting with the earthy notes to it as well. Not one of my favorite Pu-erh teas so I'm giving it a 4 star.
Great! Just a simple puerh but it is high quality.
Its fine. Cant really tell any difference between this and any other Pu-Erh I've had before. Though I'm not a particularly big fan of Pu-erhs anyway so take it with a grain of salt
I m fairly new to pu-erh teas but found this one quite unique. The first brew has quite a fishy taste which doesn t bother me too much but am discovering that a rinse is very beneficial in toning it down. This tea is very pleasant with rock sugar and milk. Looking forward to doing more exploring in the pu-erh world.
This is a really great, basic pu-erh tea, and one of my favorites to drink in the morning when I don't feel like coffee. It has a very robust body and full mouth-feel, with a pleasant earthiness and that classic grassy finish I expect from a pu-erh. It has a nice bold presence without being too overpowering or bitter; if you're just getting into pu-erh teas, I would reccommend this one as a good starter.
Full bodied tea with pu-erh taste. I would definitely buy again.
The flavor is very strong and earthy, it’s good but not for a daily cup.
I love this tea. It's smooth and rich. Also, oversteeping doesn't seem to hurt it or make it bitter. I like to use this as a base when making my own blends.
Very smooth pu-erh tea, the earthy/woody aroma and taste are very pleasant and the mouth-feel is lovely.
Extremely earthy, rich, and satisfying, almost like a soup. Smooth. It does have some bitterness, and I felt that it was somewhat lacking in either the subtle flavors or the fermented 'punch' that pu-erh teas sometimes have. I've had a lot of very premium pu-erh, and this tastes 95% the same as ripe pu-erh teas that are way more expensive, though.
This is probably my favorite version of Pu-Erh. It's very earthy, but isn't bitter.
This is a wonderful earthy cup of tea. Tastes like loamy soil smells...like going to a mushroom farm. My husband and I are both fans. No bitterness or aftertaste. Holds up for multiple infusions. We are looking forward to trying other varieties of pu-erh teas and will then decide which one(s) we want to order. So far this one is high on the list.
This tasted like mushrooms on the 1st steeping. The 2nd one was better. It is very earthy. Take this with a grain of salt, I am a classic black tea lover, like the breakfast teas. Perhaps try a sample as I did before you commit
Rich and dark, I could literally drink this all day long with no issue
Very earthy, thought my husband would really enjoy the mushroom flavor, and while he didn't mind it, it's not his favorite
Umami-yummy. Love the smoky, earthy notes and smoothness of this tea.
This is my first pu-erh, I am not typically a fan of black teas, but this one is very good. Make sure to rinse it first though.
Not as strong as some of the other pu-erh teas but not bad
Good but not for me. Wanted to try it out. Very earthy
Very hearty tea and delicious! Will be back for me of this.
My first unflavored Pu-Erh tea. The description is very accurate. I get notes of mushrooms and damp earth and maybe even a bit of miso-soup at the end. Also a touch of cigar tobacco. Its very warm and comforting but I can definitely see how lots of people will shy away from these flavors. If you like earthy and natural flavors, give it a try.
I could not get past the fishy smell, even after rinsing, and the taste of dirt. I love the the dark color but the taste was just plain awful. Not for me.
