My absolute favorite tea from this site!!! dark, caffeinated , bold, fruity
A rare aged, fermented tea from Yunnan, China, pu'erh stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor and woodsy tones. Clean, damp forest aroma, dried mushrooms, leather, and earth. A slight sweetness of figs or dates yields a mellow, grounding cup.

My absolute favorite tea from this site!!! dark, caffeinated , bold, fruity
Heavy and earthy with a delicious, mildly fruity flavor and a dark red-amber color. The smell, though..is like crawfish and mud. Takes a little getting used to.
Fishy! I even rinsed in a quick 1st steep, but I couldn't get into this one at all.
very surprised with this tea...this was bold but rather smooth with a full-bodied taste. Its almost impossible to over steep this tea. Really great find!!!
Complex taste, sophisticated and earthy! Highly recommend!
I love pu-erh tea. It is my morning tea every day. I usually drink Chorange or other flavored pu-erh teas, but wanted a plain pu-erh to blend with other teas to provide more variety. This tea is smooth and warm tasting, and like most pu-erhs never gets bitter. It blends beautifully with other teas.
So smooth, I have been drinking Pu-Erh tea daily for more then 10 years, this is the best one yet
A solid Pu-Erh tea. The depth of flavor wasn't amazing here, but it was a great day to day tea.
Has lots of hay/barnyard flavors that Poe doesn't. More 'bright' flavors than Poe. Still earthy, and woodsy.
Without considering price I preferred this to Poe. Considering price I strongly prefer this. Was worried about fishy flavor with shorter age time relative to Poe. Didn't get any fishy taste, did quick 10 second rinse. I'm no PuErh connoisseur but I do enjoy this.
This was a lot earthier than I thought it was be. I love the puerh spice and thought I would try this. It's alright by no means my favorite and probably one I won't get again
Smells fishy when brewed. it's tastes ok when you get past the fishy smell
Not for me. Not at all. The taste was somehow a combo of mud and shrimp for me. Not what I look for in my tea. Will not be buying again. Maybe if it was mixed with something else it would be better? Unsure.
My first pu-erh tea I’ve tried. Thought it would be stronger after steeping for 5 minutes. Nice earthy taste that’s not overpowering.
Such a great tea! My go to black tea now, complex and rich.
First tried the sample size. Found the taste was pleasant and earthy. It is a stronger tea and I use less , steep for a shorter time and add rock sugar. This makes me a perfect cup of tea. I get multiple steeps and let steep a little longer for second cup. At times I have been able to get a 3rd steeping. Have also made this in a 16oz infusion pot. I have decided this is one of my favorites and would order again.
Good but if you over steep it becomes a bit bitter.
I found Pu-Ehr Dante to be rich with flavor. It's a very dark tea, robust, and yet smooth. When my sample was gone, it was high on my list to purchase.
Really good Black tea on of my go to teas, great teats'
Beautiful cup and multiple resteeps. Earthy, but not overpowering. Love it with a touch of brown sugar and a splash of cream.
I really enjoy Pu-Erh tea. If you have never had a Pu-Erh this is a great place to start. I enjoy the convenience of being able to have a cup of Pu-Erh without having to cut it from one of my cakes.
The dry tea aroma was lovely. I did a 15 sec rinse to pull out for a possible fishy/low tide flavor, but I lucked out with a good sample. The rinse water aroma was just fine, so I kept on steeping it. This tea is smooth with no astringency, and had that pu erh damp earth vibe, a fairly light mushroominess, and very light leather notes, which I thought were a bit richer in the aroma than the flavor. As it cooled, a barn straw note started to come out a bit more. I tried adding a little honey and didn't like it as much. The second steep was similar to the first for me, though stronger straw/hay notes. Didn't catch any fig/date sweetness. Though I only tried the Pu erh Poe once, a while ago through CommuniTEA, I think I prefer the poe over the dante if comparing similar teas. The flavor is richer, more leathery, more mushroomy. I was very busy while trying to drink the two cups of the Dante I made from my CommuniTEA packet today, and managed to let the second half of each cup get cold. That tells me I wasn't in love with it, while I couldn't stop sipping the Pu erh Poe when I tried it. Though this was a good cup, I've learned that possibly I prefer a richer or stronger pu erh aged longer, though I see why some people love this one. (4min @212º)
Don't drink Puerh very much, but found this one very enjoyable. Definitely one to return to at a later date.
I love pu ehr teas, and this pu ehr Dante has such a great earthy flavor
Interesting mushroom smell. I had it iced, perhaps not the best form.
Man I knew this was a puerh as soon as I opened the little CommuniTea packet. That dirt/fish smell is unmistakable. I have loved some puerhs but this is not my preferred style of puerh. I wouldn't say I hate it but I'm not gonna go out of my way to drink it.
This tea has a great earthy taste. I got several steeps out of this tea. Each steep was surprisingly better than the one before. You have to like earthy teas to enjoy this.
This is definitely an acquired taste, but once you get used to the earthiness it's a really satisfying tea (and it never gets bitter, even if you accidentally brew it for too long).
I love pu-reh teas, its worth a try, Adagio makes sampling affordable.
This tea is deep and earthy and if that's what you're looking for, this is a winner. It's not my personal preference, but I enjoyed trying it.
Can't say I enjoy my tea tasting like hay. I did try doing the first rinse. I was amazing with how dark it was in just 30 seconds, but the second steep at 3min was even darker. The first steep did have a fishy smell & taste. I was too curious not to taste. Thankfully that went away for the second steep, which had a warm hay scent and taste. I managed to drink down the whole cup, but I wasn't a fan.
A nice and earthy pu-erh! I gave the tea leaves a rise before steeping — helped a lot!
The earthy smell is not for me. I drank about half the cup. The smell reminded me a lot of when the fish tank needs to be cleaned.
Had an a light earthy smell to it when i opened the packet. The taste didn't particularly stand out to me much. It is smooth and I didn't get any of the algea/ fermented taste that I had seen others mention despite not having rinsed it first.
Pu erh are some of my favorite teas, and this didn't disappoint. I did get the very faintest fish market scent off of this, but it faded before I finished the cup. Very mild, sweet and earthy. I really enjoyed it.
This is only the second pu-reh tea that I’ve had, so I don’t have much experience with them. It was very earthy, and the given description was pretty spot on. I had to get over the dirt smell with each sip, but the taste was more pleasant than said smell. Adding a spoonful of sugar helped, and a splash of almond milk took this from a so-so review, up to a okay, I could drink this again review. I’d probably give it 3.5 stars if I could, as it was just slightly better than okay for me.
This tea is flavorful and strong for a basic black tea. Great with milk and sweetener!
This is a decent enough pu-erh but it definitely needs a rinse. If you detect that fishy smell, a good 30s soak in boiling water, swirl and discard before doing a proper steep. Pu-erh teas are great for gongfu style brewing, you can usually get quite a few steps out of one batch of leaves. The taste itself of this one is grassy, someone else mentioned hay? The way hay smells is effectively how this tastes. Not my favorite pu-erh but not bad either!
As reccomended by my fellows of the CommuniTEA, I prepared this tea with a 15 second rinse, then steeped 4 minutes at 212 F. I immediately decided to do a second steep (again as advised by the CommuniTEA.) Resteeping doesnt often work for me as the best essence of the tea generally is given off first try. I tried it straight but I added honey, as is my way. Earthy aroma out of the packet, deep mellow woodsy, and NOT bitter.
I sampled this Tea as part of the CommuniTEA November box
I'm going to be honest with you; I couldn't taste this tea. I took a few big, contemplative sips and I could barely taste anything, even with the extra effort put in. Now I know how my fiance feels when he tells me he can't really taste the teas I make for myself even though I'm infusing it too the instructions. I've always been able to taste my teas just fine, but this one I cannot.
Many people and the internet think that you should rinse pu-erhs to get rid of contaminants and any fishy taste. I didn't rinse and did get the fungal/fishy taste, but I didn't really mind it. I think I'm going to buy some pu-erh and try rinsing. It was a little off-putting when I took my first sip due to the fungal/algae taste, but it kinda grew on me. I find many teas will grow on me after a few sips, some take about half the cup. I think it has to do with my taste buds adjusting and some teas just taste better when they cool down a little. There have been very few teas that I don't finish. Really wish I had a chance to do multiple steeps, but I had to leave the leaves at home and go to work. Maybe I'll try that next time too. Tried as part of The CommuniTea.
Puerh Dante makes me think, about the smell, of wet earth. To taste, there is earthy taste but with a little fruity (it is subtle). The texture is creamy and it is pleasant to drink.
What came in my CommuniTea packet gave a noticeably 'fishy' smell, even after rinsing. I brewed it the way I normally would with pu-erh, a small amount of water and a brief brewing time. It could be that this is just a different animal than the pressed pu-erh cakes I've had in the past, but I was disappointed.
I totally get the earthy, damp forest feel and love it!. I found it to be really mellow, no bitterness at all.
This tea has an incredibly potent taste, very deep and earthy with some interesting notes that remind me of hay and barnyards. And while that doesn't sound appealing with said out loud, it was actually not a bad cup of tea. My first steep at 4 minutes in 212 degree water was a bit too potent and I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. I'm enjoying the second steep a lot more (3 minutes, 212 degrees). Not the my favorite of the pu erhs I've tried (so far the pu erh spice is leading), but not bad either.
I was really nervous after I saw everybody say to rinse this first and I didn't (I also tossed the leaves after steeping), but wow! I love that mushroomy taste! We have morels that grow in our back yard, and that's what it reminds me of. If I was going to drink just a straight black tea with zero flavors added, this would be it! I love the complete lack of astringency. This tea is robust, yet easy-drinking. Just a touch of Stevia to sweeten, and this becomes easily sippable!
I did not rinse this tea as I did a sniff test and found it not to be fishy. I find this tea to be earthy and clean, with absolutely no bitterness or astringency. It does seem somewhat more savory, almost like a soup stock, made from earth...but nice clean earth. It is a nice tasting tea and for some strange reason I get the occasional hint of cocoa, but not in every sip so its interesting how even my sips give me a different taste. This is a nice enough tea, and although I prefer black teas more, I would definitely consider trying other pu erhs to see what they offer!
Puerh Dante was a good rich in color tea. The taste was smooth and intense.
This was a CommuniTEA pick, and I'm glad it came up!
I was leery of pu-erh's funky reputation. Rinsing first was a good move for me--the rinse water was quite fishy smelling, and it was good to get that out of the way.
I liked that the tea came out quite earthy, deeply flavorful, and not at all astringent or bitter, and that it was still going strong on the third steep before I called it a day.
Buuuuuut, I think this particular pu-erh is not one I'm eager to have again. Its particular grassy and earthy notes added up to an impression of funky barnyard for me. It was present on all three steeps, and I found it hard to ignore. I'm curious to try other pu-erhs in the future though, since flavor notes can vary a lot, and a different one might well be a better fit for me.
Tasted great, very mild, not bitter if steeped just slight of 3min
Mild and earthy, this warming blend has a flavor that makes me think of autumn. Deep notes of rich hazelnut make this a blend that just sings
