My favorite tea with a strong full body. I love it hot with some lemon & agave or iced. Delicious!!!
A rare aged, fermented tea from Yunnan, China, pu'erh stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor and woodsy tones. Clean, damp forest aroma, dried mushrooms, leather, and earth. A slight sweetness of figs or dates yields a mellow, grounding cup.

My favorite tea with a strong full body. I love it hot with some lemon & agave or iced. Delicious!!!
This tea is very interesting. I tried the pu erh poe first, and if that one made me think of horses, the pu erh dante makes me think of a campfire. That horse/earthiness is still there, but the dante has a brighter, smokier flavor to it. It is very good, but I think I actually prefer the poe.
Once you get past the smell it's ok. Not a tea for everyone.
I really did not like this tea much, and I like earthy teas. Tko me, it tasted a bit too much like dirt. The flavor was simply flat and dull without much nuance to it. I finished my sample pack to give it a chance, but this is not my...um...cup of tea.
This has been one of my favorites for quite some time. The leaves can be rebrewed several times for a deep strong brew that never gets bitter. I call this the coffee of the tea world. As it is a pu erh it may not be for everyone, the earthy flavor is not subtle: either you'll love it or hate it.
The scent of the unbrewed leaf is a little off-putting, however once it's brewed it's more mild. As a first impression it's tolerable and I have a felling I may grow to love pu erhs.
A good strong tea with a nice earthy flavor. Definitely will purchase again.
very first pu erh and have to say its really different to me the smell was very mesquite and the taste was unusual but it was enjoyable i couldnt drink it every day but i could drink it occasionally i suggest you try it
I don't get the same amount of flavor from this as I do from other pu erh teas. I like that "dirty", earthy taste associated with pu erh, and this just doesn't deliver the way I hope dit would. It isn't terrible, but I will probably seek a better variety for my next order.
At first, the smell and taste of this tea really threw me off. However, after drinking the whole cup, I like the unique taste. It has a distinct "earthy" taste that you really can't miss. I think you'll either like it or hate it. I don't think there there will be too much wiggle room for this one.
Not really my cup of tea. hehe. It has kind of a shrimp taste to it. I mean it is interesting but not really for me. May be good with a seafood meal. I'll drink what I have but wont order again.
I was admittedly a little afraid of this tea because of the reviews, so I only got a sampler, but I love it! It's got a lovely earthy taste with, in my opinion, some nicely fruity notes. I think I will have to order more.
Earthy and incredible. The way a good black tea should be. Great hangover tea!
VERY earthy flavor. i would not drink this on its own, but if i mix it with others, like strawberry and cream, or something else that has a strong fruit flavor, it balances out more.
This has an odd "fishy" flavor. Although I can see it appealing to certain tastes, it probably is not going to universily liked.
Pu erh has such great medicinal benefits; it's got a very woodsy flavor, but it's not as overpowering as Lapsang souchong. I lvoe to drink this tea when I have a heavy meal.
I liked this tea. The smell is very earthy, but not bad. I like the strong taste to it. Very good - will buy again and maybe blend it.
Very earthy; smells and tastes somewhat like an autumnal, damp patch of woods. If you love strong Chinese teas, this will taste OK, but it's more of a single-note tea. Perhaps other pu erh varieties have more flavors.
A nice affordable Puerh. Not the best but a nice change of pace.
I really liked this tea. It kind of reminds me of camping, like damp earth. Some may think thats a bad quality, but I liked it. I got a sampler cause this is my first pu erh, it was good.
Expect a very earthy tea that leaves a slight, barely perceptible sweetness lingering on your pallate. I would reccommend you be familiar with the tea before ordering it.
If you're new to pu erh, this is an affordable introduction, but not a comprehensive one. The packaging doesn't mention this, but remember to rinse the leaves before your first cup. It'll give you an idea of what pu erh is like, but if this cup isn't to your liking, don't write off all pu erhs just yet.
This was my first pu erh, and it was indeed a unique experience. I discovered that it's absolutely necessary to prepare post-fermented teas in the 'gongfu' style. After I did so, the flavor was full-bodied and much improved.
Purchased for my husband--he loves oolongs and black tea, and wanted to try pu erh. He liked it, and wants to order more.
Wow--this is definitely not for me. This tea has a very noticeable fishy/crustacean flavor and odor when brewed. I'm glad I got the sample size!
Pu erh Dante & Poe - Dry, Pu erh Dante (in my opinion) has a stronger scent, both dry and steeped, than that of Pu erh Poe. The scent of both of these teas I would describe as slightly fishy or seaweed-like with a more earthy smell after brewing - though I would like to make it very clear that this is not an unpleasant smell at all. The taste of both of these teas I found, unfortunately (and surprisingly), weak. I was surprised that both of these teas, with such a distinct scent had virtually no taste (at least to me) besides a very subtle earthy taste, even when strongly brewed. I was very excited to see that Adagio carried Pu erh teas. I had read quite a bit about them and was looking forward to sampling them. I'm hoping to find the pressed or cake version of Pu erh as well, if only just to compare it to the loose versions. I had read that originally Pu erh teas were pressed for the purposes of preservation and travel. I'm still undecided as to if I would purchase these again. I really want to like them.
A solid pu erh. Not quite as earthy as I'd have liked.
I thought I would try a adagio pu erh, but this pu erh didn't have the flavorful undertones of others that I have had.
It tastes like keemun black tea with the earth-like tones. But I wouldn't call it dirt flavored. I won't drink this frequently, but pu erh dante is a welcome change-up for something different in the evening.
If you don't like pu erh stay away from this one. It's either for you or not. It is the strong of the two pu erh's on the site.
Smells like barn waste and tastes like barn waste, too.
I tried a sample of this on a whim and enjoyed it's earthy flavor.
A well balanced tea. The dark color lets you know that the flavor will not be lost with the addition of sweetner or milk.
Wow..this almost beats a cup of coffee. Perfect for the after lunch fix !
smells like dirt, and unfortunately tastes like dirt too.
I love this tea. Some people dislike the taste, but I love it! It is very woodsy and it does sort of taste like the forrest floor, but I love the natural scent and taste.
This was a new experience forme having not tried a pu erh before. The best way to describe it really is that it tastes like dirt, but that it's great!
This tea is another favorite of mine. It also helps curve the appetite. Try it, it is great
This tea is a very unique kind of tea. The tea has an extremely earthy taste to it, but with milk/sugar it is a good tea.
very earthy taste, like the wet ground of a forest, a high grade would probably be tastier
If you love a good, grassy pu erh, this is the one for you. If you don't like a really, really grassy tea, beware.
A good start in the world of Pu. The 'barnyard' aromas are fairly strong and will give you an idea if this type of tea is up your alley.
To put it succinctly, it tastes like a handful of damp leaves off the ground in the woods. That's not to say it's horrible...I am occasionally in the mood for it. But only occasionally, and only if I have something to eat with it.
Did not like this at all. Tasted like moldy dirt.
This was very nice, a bit special, but I liked it.
Forms an extremely dark, almost opaque liquor, brown with a tinge of red. The smell is, as expected, dominated by the distinctive character of dirt or mud, along with a faint but clear rotting-fish note. The flavor is salty-sweet with the same notes of dirt and fish, which linger without much astringency.
I know that all sounds terrible, but really, this isn't bad; the complex array of flavors blends intriguingly, and the mouthfeel is creamy -- indeed, succulent -- forming a cup that's hearty and satisfying, if a bit odd.
Unless a tea was absolutely undrinkably bad, I wouldn't rate it as bad, but this tea is not for me. A pronounced prebrewing scent of dirt and a brewed flavor that reminds me of a forest floor. Its interesting, its been a conversation piece and I have a cup now and then for the experience, but neither an everyday tea nor a favorite.
A good introduction to the world of pu erh. Good earth undertones and body.
Pu erh is not for everybody. Think of it as the Guiness of teas. An aquired taste, it can be a rich and wonderful treat at the end of a long day. If you want to develop a taste for this very bold tea, try mixing it first with another black, or even a cream/vanilla variety.
I was surprised by this one. I started, as suggested, with a sampler size. While I'm not sure if it's a good 'diet' tea, it does have a different taste for tea, though.
