To earthy for my taste, don't think I would purchase again.
A rare aged, fermented tea from Yunnan, China, pu'erh stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor and woodsy tones. Clean, damp forest aroma, dried mushrooms, leather, and earth. A slight sweetness of figs or dates yields a mellow, grounding cup.

To earthy for my taste, don't think I would purchase again.
i'm very very disappointed. i ordered this tea maybe a year ago from this site and i loved it. L-O-V-E-D it. but this tastes completely different. the aroma is almost rotten even though the dried tea leaves smell the same.
To me the flavor is kind of dusty, a bit like the 'gunpowder' tea.
This is a lovely tea with a sweet, earthly flavor that's hard to describe but tastes good hot or iced.
Not my fave, but ok. I'm much more of a green tea gal, but received this as a sample.
I like some pu erh, such as pu erh hazel berry, but this is too fishy tasting for me.
It is indeed very dark but I enjoy the bold earthy taste. It does have a mineral taste that makes think its almost fishy but it's not fishy at all. I enjoy it a lot but it is not an every day tea, very unique. It kind of tastes like a forest floor.
I like to call this my dirt tea. Smells like dirt, tastes like dirt, and looks like espresso. Absolutely delicious. I cheat by microwaving my mug with water in it, so there is no need for 'pre-warming' my utensils. As soon as it begins to boil, I drop my infuser in there and let it brew at least 15 minutes before I even think about drinking it. Smooth, strong, and not in the smallest amount bitter. It's like I'm drinking the earth.
Not an everyday tea, but definitely worth a try. It is great when you're craving a strong earthy experience.
4 stars, maybe even 4.5. The smell reminds me of a cross between Assam Melody and Hojicha. Once it's brewed, it has more of a mushroom smell, yet I wouldn't say it's a savory tea. It's malty, earthy, and kind of fishy with a barely detectable sweetness. Maybe I like it so much because I first experienced it in Cara McGee's Lestrade blend and Majestic King blend. They're 2 of my favorite blends and are great substitutes for coffee.
It's an all right tea but I don't taste what's distinct about it.
I guess I'm just not fond of Pu erh altogether. My fiance seems to enjoy it, though. Very earthy (which I normally like) smelling and tasting. The 'Dante' didn't cover up the fact that it's Pu erh lol Don't take my word for it, though.
Well, this was interesting - and good. I can see why other reviewers would say this is an either love it or hate it tea...but I'm kinda in the middle. My first instinct was to say it smelled like fish and damp leaves. But not bad fish and leaves. It finally hit me about half way through my mug of tea...it reminds me of a fishing pier. Wood, salt air, sea...maybe even drift wood on a river bank. I know it sounds absolutely crazy, but this was fun to try. The flavor was much more mellow than the aroma. It was quite smooth and more earthy/mushroomy, even a little sweet. My co-worker remarked that this was a tea she would like on a cold Fall evening. It has that kind of feel to it, I had to agree. Not sure if I'll order this again - but I will probably try another Pu Erh just to see the differences. I'm intrigued, for sure, and I love how different it is from every other tea I've tried.
Great basic pu erh tea. Earthy farm-smell with a smooth and mellow taste. Good either hot or cold too! My go-to tea on the long cold days of winter, sometimes blended with lapsang or with a flavored rooibos/honeybush for variety. I love that it doesn’t get bitter, only stronger!
While I liked the flavored Pu Erh teas, both Dante and Poe are way too strong for me. I'm not a fan of these two at all, though they aren't bad, just not to my taste
It's a very light pu erh and it wasn't up to my standards of pu erh. it was not very earthy. It had a sweeter overtone than most pu erhs. I recommend the pu erh pearls for an earthier option
This is the second Pu Erh I have tried from Adagio. Not quite as good as the Pu Erh Pearls but still enjoyable.
This tea is definitely and acquired taste. When you first smell the tea you are overwhelmed with the smell of rot. After brewing, the tea still smells like rot, but the taste is not bad. I will finish the sample, but I don't see myself ever drinking this tea again.
It is rather leathery and distinguishable smooth. This tea is very thick in texture. (similar to how coffee is somewhat muddy when made in a french press) Honestly, I like astringency in my tea, and I wish this tea had it.
The smell to me is earthy but not as strong as the pu erh poe. It does have a taste of earth that may be too strong for some. I diluted the tea with some ice and the taste changed to a gently earthy or floral taste.
A little too earthy for me. I will finish my sample adjusting the strength but with so many other teas to try I probably won't do this one again.
A wonderful tea if your wanting a change from your coffee.I love the earthy
aroma, reminding me of my childhood , playing in the dirt.
This was a strong tea of hay and leather in taste and aroma. I think I like flavored pu erh's better than the non-flavored for sure.
Deep earthy almost smokey flavor. Strong moss-like flavors and the aroma of forest growth. Quite nice.
Discovered I am not a pu erh fan at least not plain. I did however find that I am ok when I mix with other teas that are flavored.
Great tasting pu erh, exactly what I wanted. Gets dark quickly since it is a black tea but the flavor will not be too strong if steeped under 3 minutes.
This is the reason I like Pu erh. It is a little sweet, and I get some fruit flavours.
The best pu erh tea I've tried! And that's saying a lot. I've had a lot of aged cakes that were just too much to handle. I don't like an overly fermented flavor. So pu erhs are intimidating to me. This has just the right balance I think. Smooth and almost creamy mouth feel with a rich red/brown liquor. Earthy and mildly sweet. I found this nice on its own or with some of those amber sugar crystals of Adagio's. I'm very happy with this. Buyer beware however... you almost seem to love this or hate it. It's not going to taste like your traditional black tea.
Nothing like the taste of earth and cream to sooth my not so great day
Musty, earthy, farm-air like aroma. A very smooth tea with pleasant red-wine like characteristics.
Slightly smokey and quite nice to keep in a travel mug throughout the day. Name evokes intense desire to make horrible puns.
The pu erh dante tasted more like the pu erh tea that I bought in the Yunnan province than the other pu erh teas adagio teas offers.
I tried to like this but the aroma and taste were off-putting. Not something I could ever get used to.
After trying the pu erh pearls and a few blends featuring other pu erh teas, I thought it couldn't hurt to test the waters on a few others. It's still a strange taste to me, and certainly hard to describe, but I definitely like it!
This tea is extremely interesting to say the least. Definitely not a everyday tea. I sometimes like it a little but over all I can't stomach the fishy taste of it.
Mild flavor, earthy scent--almost a touch of leather. I prefer flavored teas over un...but I may try a flavored pu erh tea, as the lack of even the slightest bitterness or astringency was quite welcome.
Pu erh dante is one of my favorite teas. I love it's smokey scent and taste. It's rich and one of my go-tos when I can't decide what to have from my fandom teas.
This tea has an earth taste, that is rich and good blended with fruit tea
Nice smokey aroma and full flavor. Brews very dark, almost looks like coffee. I drink it hot on its own, but usually mix it with Fujian Baroque over ice to reduce the smokiness. Overall a great cup of tea.
Rich earthy and almost fishy. Difficult to get used to but very interesting.
I've enjoyed pu'er for years, and this is a really good one. Rich and earthy, stands up to several infusions and doesn't keep you up at night. If you ever wondered what Treebeard gave Merry and Pippin to drink, this is it.
Very woodsy and mushroomy. Can be quite a powerful flavor. I prefer the second steeping from these leaves. The first steeping is a great wake-up early in the morning.
Very strong. Not a tea I could drink cup after cup of.
Definitely one of my favorite pu erhs. Very earthy, smooth, dark.
I found the flavor to be reach and deep. This is defnitely a new favorite
I really like this tea, it is earthy, dark which makes it look strong, but it is actually pretty mellow, and really good for my busy mornings when I don't have time to wait 10 minutes in the infuser, this one steeps very fast for a busy schedule
Great tea. Very earthy and smooth. I will order again.
This is probably one of my favorite teas for blending--it has a wonderful, earthy aroma and blends up strong, but smooth. Ideal for teas with chocolate or caramel tones, anything dessert-ish, really. Very warm, very relaxing.
the flavor is smooth, and non-astringent. However it is not my favorite aroma, as far a tea goes.
This tea has a complex smooth earthiness. I love the leathery flavor and warm, dark color. It isn't an everyday tea for me, but I would definitely buy it again.
