I'm in love with this tea. Woodsy and calming. Many people find fish flavors however I've tasted no marina at all, I've come to believe this is probably because I rinse my tea gong fu style. This is my first pu erh and I will definitely come back for more. To me this smells and tastes like a fresh bed of mushrooms picked on a rainy day (which I'll admit seems strange for tea) but believe me it's a perfect balance. This is one of the several teas that feels like it literally found your soul.

This is a very dark and bold tea. Smells a little fishy to me before steeping. Definitely taste fishy to me after steeping. Not a whole lot of other flavors coming to mind. I really like pu erh tea, just not this one.

I bought this blend to make a version of Tibetan Butter tea, and it turned out beautifully. I used just a small pat of organic butter as well as a spoonful of sugar, and blended using a handheld milk frother to the already steeped tea. I know this is nothing like real Tibetan Butter tea, but it's a good Westernized version.

Smelled horrible. Flavor wasn't too bad but I couldn't get past the smell.

I loved this bold tea. A very beautiful, rouge-like tint. Able to steep it three times easily without losing strength.

This is a delicious brew! Earthy and Pungent - it is deeply satisfying.

A great, strong morning cup of tea. I prefer it with a bit of cream to soften it out, but the best part about this tea is that it is a great coffee replacement, and the leaves can be used more than once since it is a bit strong.

This was my first pu erh and maybe I just didn't know what to expect. It was too strong for me and had too much of a 'horse manure/soil' fragrance. I tried it steeped for short and long and tried steeping and rinsing a couple of times before the final steep, but it was still too much for me. I don't think I will bu again.

It is hard to describe this wonderful tea to those who have never tried it without making it sound dirty, gross, or just weird. Rich, earthy, warm and dark, comfortable like an old leather jacket or a walk through quiet woods. Not an every day tea for me, but definitely enjoyable.

I really was surprised by this tea. I had read about pu erh tea and found it here. The reviews I read were good so I decided to give it a try. The earthy smell surprised me first. It does smell like the forest. The taste is also earthy but quite pleasing if you like a rich tea. I actually like steeping mine a little longer for a stronger taste and add just a touch of honey or stevia to sweeten. And I noticed it really does help with appetite!

I think I am just not a pu erh person, but I did not enjoy this at ALL. To me it had an almost fishy taste, and not in a good way.

wonder rich body yet a smooth finish. Perfect Sunday morning newspaper companion

While this tea smells somewhat like crustaceans, it does seem like it might be an acquired taste. I would be willing to give this tea another try sometime in the future.

not my cup of tea. I just wasn't crazy about the flavor.
★★★★☆
It has an interesting earthy taste, but my favorite pu erh is still pu erh hazelberry

This tea is a fantastic pu ehr. Very earthy and rich. You can steep it up to 3 times and get an excellent, strong cup every time. You can also forget it for 10-20 minutes (like I do all the time) and it won't over steep. Delicious and warming.

This is my favorite pu erh that I have tried. I like it best after about the third infusion. My wife loves it as her coffee replacement in the mornings.
★★★★★
This is a great and pure pu erh. There re other flavored teas and far more expensive, but you can't beat this for the price. I steep it for as long as I want...usually about ten minutes. The taste is strong enough to replace my morning coffee and wakes me up far easier and without the headache and acid reflux. The taste is woodsy and deep. It's worth your time.

It took a sip or two for me to really like this. I was so used to Pu Erh Spice that the earthiness of this one surprised me. But it is becoming one of my favorites. My comments was, 'If they made a drink out of dirt that tasted great - this is that drink.'

I have always loved this insanely earthy tea. It's definitely a love it or hate it tea but the majority of people I have shared it with actually loved it !

I am a lover of pu erh teas and this is a nice one. Not as
good as some others but a nice rich earthy, mellow flavor.

Fresh tea leaves have a musty, woody scent. The steeped tea is very dark, even after the first 45 seconds, and carries on the damp, earthy scent. I steeped mine for several minutes and the flavor was overpowering. I tried a few sips after just a minute of steeping, and it was not bad - organic and dark. The remainder of the cup (which steeped 5 minutes) tasted overpoweringly of wet woods and had a strong, lingering astringency. I may try this again, steeping about 1 minute MAX, and maybe adding a little milk and sugar. It's my first cup of pu erh, so I'm game to give it another go.

I really was worried I would not like this tea. Overall it had become one of my new favorite teas! It has a great flavor, and I would say it is just a strong black tea. If you like black teas, you will like this. I did rinse mine for just a few seconds under hot water and I felt I liked it that way.

My favorite pu-erh. I drink several cups every morning instead of coffee. I love that it has a smooth, non-acrid taste that does not upset my morning stomach like regular black tea. It is a Must Have!
★★★☆☆
Sorry I tried I really did I can't handle it by itself blended with something else I can do though. =_=

Pu erh is my jam. But I've learned not to drink it at work. This one especially gets the stink eye from my questionably cultured office mate, who once asked if my tea had gone bad. 'It smells like dead fish,' he said. Whatev. I still think it's rad.
★★★☆☆
The leather/earthy flavors are nice. I wouldn't make this an every day tea though.
★★★★☆
As the other reviewers have noted, this tastes like old fish and dirt. The color is almost as black as coffee and has a strong fishy aroma. I find that milk and a little sugar help balance this out. It definitely isn't an everyday tea. It is truly unique and worth a try

Super smooth and not bitter in the least bit, had a flavor that made me think of the smell of wood chips. Sounds strange but i liked it

My first pu-erh, and I am very much still learning. A hard flavor to grasp as a beverage. Smells of hay, both dry and brewed. Surprisingly light on the tongue for such a strong scent. Reminds me of sitting bored at my sister's riding lessons. In a good way. Recommended for: people with a pioneering spirit. overeager test subjects. centaurs.

If you love mud this is definitely the tea for you. Unfortunately I don't care for the taste of mud so this tea was a big turn off.

A wonderful tea, with wonderful flavors. I had not previously tried pu erh teas, but had heard that given my preferences, I might want to try them. This tea is dark and earthy, and I drink it without adding anything to it.

Unique fermentation method adds a very earthy flavor. Seems to keep its flavor with two or more immersions. Doesn't have the caffeine of my favorite assams, though. Good afternoon tea.
★★★★★
This is a great pu erh if you want to wrap yourself in deep earthiness. Wonderful if you prefer a serious tea with a hint of velvet. I plan on adding this one to my tea 'palette' often!
★★★★★
A very earthy horse blanket aroma and flavor, but in a good way! It's even better in a Meguro teapot

I've wanted to try pu'erh teas for a while, since I'm a big fan of bitter teas and black teas. This one was WAY too much for me, though. It smells like a petting zoo and tastes about like one as well. I had one cup and ended up tossing the rest in the garbage, unfortunately. It's a VERY strong tea - try it if you're feeling adventurous, but it's definitely not for everyone!

My first experience with puerh and it's very different. I like it really well but it's something I have to be in the mood for. I can get at least 3 good steeps from it, it's actually better on the second steep. I might try blending it.

As someone whose not so well versed in Pu Erh, my opinion might not count for much, but I find that the difference between this one and the Poe is that the Dante is less intense, and warmer... if that makes any sense.

Tastes good. Brewing 2g at 212 degrees for 3 minutes and 30 seconds resulted in a reddish-brown tea with a mild, earthy, smooth taste with a very subtle hint of fruitiness.

This isn't a bad tea, but it just isn't for me. It is VERY earthy, and has the aroma of a damp forest floor.

Okay for a 'solid' cup of tea but the fragrance is a bit too pungent for me. It reminds me of my youth and visiting my friends who lived on farms. It has the fragrance of corn silage.

I am loving trying all the different pu erh teas and this one did not disappoint. great smell and taste.

I think this tea would be a good tea for coffee drinkers looking to make the switch to being a tea drinker. At the beginning there is a smoky roasted quality to the tea. At this point (early in the taste) I would love it on a rainy day, summer or fall. but for me the tea falls apart at the back of the mouth and tongue. It's body is thin and it leaves you wondering what happened to the body. Of course it may just be me looking for more of that deep smoky, roasted quality.

This is not my cup of tea. My first impression with the smell was that it reminded me of the smell of horse stables. There is definitely the earthy and mushroom aroma in there, but not in a way that is pleasant to my senses.
This is horse tea, made by horses, with horses and for horses. I simply cannot get past that aroma.
Thankfully, the horse-y aroma doesn't transfer into taste, but it's incredibly overwhelming and really ruined the experience for me. I still finished the mug, because it's a sin to waste tea, but it was a real battle of mind-over-matter.
I'm saving this sample to show to incredulous friends who don't believe me about the aroma. It'll be a definite conversation piece. However, I won't be ordering any more.

I cough this up to pu erh not being for me. I've tried several different varieties. I liked none and can't get used to it. This one tasted how I'd imagine a steeped leather shoe would taste. I'll stick to my greens, blacks, and oolongs.
★★★☆☆
The taste of this tea is very nutty. Closer to a walnut flavor, I'd say. It's really lovely if you can get past the smell. (It's a dirty hay smell to me.) I'm conflicted about this tea. I want to like it so bad, but I can only enjoy it if I hold my breath while sipping. Probably won't try it again.
★★★★★
Fabulous dark, rich flavor. Good hot or cold, personally I think it's best after steeping for a long while (I recommend at least five minutes, but generally prefer it after twenty or longer.) It has such a fabulous bouquet, I can't get enough. Started with the Sample, now I fear I'll be out before the sixteen ounce is back in stock. D,8

Earthy and mushroom flavors are strong. Strong initial flavor that mellows through the cup.

This was the first pu erh I've ever tried. It brewed up thick and muddy and had a decidedly organic flavor. I liked it. Then I wondered what would happen if I put cream and sugar in it...bad idea. Bleck. I'll remember to keep it neat next time.
