Pu-Erh Dante Customer Reviews

A rare aged, fermented tea from Yunnan, China, pu'erh stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor and woodsy tones. Clean, damp forest aroma, dried mushrooms, leather, and earth. A slight sweetness of figs or dates yields a mellow, grounding cup.

Had no idea what to expect with this tea and it turned out to be great! Very interesting flavor of mushrooms and dampness. Sounds odd but tastes great - very smooth and very little if any astringency or bitterness.

I loved the earthiness of this tea. I served it to my guests and they loved it!

★★★★★

I smelled this one in store and HAD to buy it because it's the best smelling pu erh I've ever smelled! The taste is very good, maybe a bit weaker than some other pu erhs, and definitely be careful about how long you let it steep because it WILL become too bitter if over steeped (some teas are a bit more lenient).

★★★★☆

Preferred tbe spice in the terra sampler but this was a rich flavored pu erh. Would reorder.

Pu erh is my new favorite kind of tea! Why did nobody feed it to me when I was younger?

Well, I tried it. I'm not in love. It's not bad, but has a bit of an odd taste to it. I think it's best with milk and sugar... kind of has a chocolatey taste to it. I do think that the hazelberry version of this tea is terrific though, and I'm usually one to prefer non-flavored black and green teas. I suppose it might grow on me.

This has a strong fishy odor (I liked it but I can see how others might not) and a bold flavor with no bitterness whatsoever. I think I prefer the hazelberry, but this one is good too.

Has a grassy scent and taste. It is the first pu erh tea that I have tried, so it was an experiment. I definitely didn't not like it, but it wasn't my favorite.

My first time trying a pu erh tea and it was surprisingly different. The strong scent seemed very earthy and rich but the flavor was lighter and very smooth. Love the complex flavors that have no bitterness or astringency at all. Will definately reorder pu erh dante and can't wait to explore more varieties of pu erh!

Love this earthy tea! It is great for a change from the bright Ceylon Sonata I usually drink during the day, and it was really good as an iced tea as well. Still, prefer hot with milk and sugar.

It is a nice flavor - not to dark. It goes well with other teas, as well as by itself

This pu erh is good. But my first introduction to pu erh was a sheng style tea and I found I liked the more complex flavour of that tea better. I like this tea but I wish it had a more complex flavour profile.

Had a definite fishy taste and smell, I didn't really like it. I plan to wash the leaves and try it again, but I'm not confident that it will really work.

This was my first introduction to pu erh teas, and it did not disappoint! This is an excellent tea, rich in flavor, and the flavor description of Adagio and other reviewers was dead on. I would highly recommend and would reorder.

pu erhs have become my favorite teas, the leaves do not turn bitter, even when you let them sit in the liquid for hours. Bold earthy flavor, never disappoints. I've been re-brewing these tea leaves and using for ice tea, still tastses great

The first pu erh I have tried. It is a good basic pe erh.

This is super musky...but it a good way. It is unique and I would recommend adding nothing to it. I tried it with sugar and understood why there are some bad reviews for this tea. Its a nice sipping tea, not really something to gulp down with a hotdog.

This black tea is packed with aromatic flavors! It is great in the morning to boost your day.

Rich red color (don't spill on whites!) and earthy flavor as described. It's not really 'mushroomy', so don't get scared off by that. No bitterness even after pouring over boiling water and letting sit for an hour.

Having never tasted pu erh before, I decided to sample this one because it wasn't flavored. It's.. interesting... The first sip went down like water, very smooth, you really don't get the flavor until you're first breath after swallowing. My first thought was a cut hayfield after a morning rain. I then added a little sugar and tried it... Like a sweet hayfield. Then a little milk, it seemed to soften the flavor a bit, definitely made it smoother than it already was. I did a second steep, it was a little more mellow, but brought out the 'manure' flavor I had seen on some other reviews. Only a slight flavor that's fine very quickly. Not a bad tea, but I'll probably add it to something flavored next time

Added some cherry tea, so much better!! I like the health benefits of pu erh, so masking the stable flavor is a must for me

Love this Pu ehr. Smoothness, for multiple infusions.

A fine, upstanding, robust tea when you just want ... tea. Not flavors, or cinnamon, or anything added, but just a full-bodied cuppa. Lovely.

This tea is marvellous. It tastes almost exactly how a feed and tack store smells., and as a owner of many horses I always enjoy smelling the leather and grain. It is indeed an earthy and rich tea! The colour is also beautiful, after a few minutes steeping it turned a gorgeous dark red which made me thankful my primary tea mug is clear glass! I love this tea and I can't wait for my next cup.

I'm still getting used to the pu'erh flavor, which is quite earthy. But, I love the smooth body of this tea, and the fact that it doesn't get bitter after a longer than normal brewing. It also has enough caffeine to work well as a breakfast tea, which is a plus.

This is fantastic. Tastes like the sun tea my mother used to make, only hot!

Some people might like this kind of tea, but it wasn't for me. Tasted too much like grass. I'll stick to green tea.

I'm really disappointed here. Seven months ago, I got a sample of this, and I liked it a lot. So I ordered a 3oz package of it, which arrived a couple days ago. It is, quite frankly, horrid. The sample was beautiful full leaves, with a rich Pu Erh flavor. The order I just got was entirely fine broken leaves that looked like they belonged in a Lipton teabag. And the flavor matched the look. It had just enough flavor to tell it was theoretically a Pu Erh, but was otherwise insipid and thin. I don't know what happened here, because leaves like this should never have entered Adagio's shop, let alone shipped from there.

My reaction to this tea surprised me. I'm a big fan of pu erh in general - in fact, I'd say it's my favorite tea. But this one was...not good. It wasn't the fact that it was 'earthy' that bothered me - I rather liked that. It was the fact that the smell and the taste were FISHY. I don't like seafood as seafood, let alone in my tea. I'll pass on this one, thanks.

Less intense than the Pu Erh Po. Reminds me more of campfire than horse barn.

It was a little to earthy for my taste but with a little honey to sweeten it, it was okay

★★★★★

A really nice pu erh to enjoy on it's own or mix with other teas to create a healthful blend.

★★★☆☆

I think that pu erh is just not my thing. It's an odd hybrid of flavors somewhere between oolong and roiboos, with a very leafy-earthy flavor, like a compost pile of fall leaves... which doesn't appeal to me. It's not something I'll order again but I can see how it would be a popular, different sort of tea flavor from the usual.

★★★★☆

Found this tea to be refreshing. It was not too strong and very flavorful.

★★★★☆

Wow. Very different from what I am used to drinking but I think I can grow to like it. Not giving up on it.

★★★★★

Very good morning tea this will be a regular buy for me.

Good flavor and very satisfying, Ilihe pu erh teas very much.

★★★★☆

Having tried this Pu-erh a half dozen times now it is growing on me. At first the burlap taste was to much but the combination of seeping less and familiarity makes it more pleasant. It is a full earthy flavor that is special after an early morning work in the garden, cleans out the damp. A little like a well loved thick flannel being put on. Not smoky but a warm earthiness

★☆☆☆☆

Sorry, but this is awful to me. Took one sip, and a big sip at that. Then spit it in the sink. In trying to come up with a tasty blend, I have been using this as a base. Never again.

★★★★★

This is the tea I live for. A morning cup of this sets me up for creativity on the scale of greatness. I feel warmed up, energized and the flavor is good for one, two, three brewings. It is different every time but I can brew in my 16oz teapot and just 3 teaspoons is enough to keep me going all day long. It takes cream and sugar well and it's absolutely AMAZING iced. Oh.My.Tiny.Gods. This is the replacement I needed for my long ago craving for Starbucks iced Coffee. I iced this, added cream and a hint of sugar and was transported. I bought a pound AND put it on auto order. Love it.

I feel like pu erh is the marmite of teas: you either love it or can't stand it. When you open the pouch, you get a face-full of stable-smell, and it is /glorious/. I can't compare dante to other pu erhs because this is my first one, but I love its deep, earthy flavor, especially when it's smoothed out with some cream or coconut milk. I can see how it would be an acquired taste, though!

★★★★★

This pu erh tea was magnificent, and needless to say did very well being steeped in Gongfu fashion using one of Adagio's purple clay pots.

★★★☆☆

I was eager to try this because I had never had a pu erh tea before. Turns out I am not a fan. The first cup was - oh, so earthy... bleh. I tried to steep a second cup and - Nope - I do not have that pu erh palate.

★★★★★

Exactly what i was looking for, very earthy and not too bitter

★★★★★

Complex, earthy, with hints of mushroom and peat. Makes a very pleasant, almost intoxicating cup of tea.

★★★★☆

I love pu erh teas, and their richness reminds me of coffee in good ways. This still has the richness of the Poe variety, but tastes a bit more mellow.

★★★★★

This tea has that nice classic earthiness indicative of a good pu erh.

★★★★☆

I'm still new to pu ehrs. I'm trying as many as I can to get the hang of it, but I think this smells the most like a pu ehr - fishy and fermented. This does mean that the tea itself might be fishy as well. However, it is one of the smoothest cups of tea I've ever had. Brews very dark.

Didnt like this at all. The smell was alright, but a very musty, damp tatse.
