smells nice, and good earthy taste, but better when brewed with sweeter tea.
A rare aged, fermented tea from Yunnan, China, pu'erh stands apart with its uncommonly soft earthy flavor and woodsy tones. Clean, damp forest aroma, dried mushrooms, leather, and earth. A slight sweetness of figs or dates yields a mellow, grounding cup.

smells nice, and good earthy taste, but better when brewed with sweeter tea.
Very nice pu erh. Not too much but a good balance.
This may be my favorite of the pu-erh teas that I've tried, and I've tried A LOT. Wonderful taste.
pretty good. s,ells a bit like dirt, but throw a bit of cream in it and it is delicious
I was feeling adventurous and tried a sampler of this tea. It's certainly earthy, and could suss out bits of the leather as described, but I fear this one might just be too pungent for me. I will give it a try with milk and sugar, and even iced before I pass permanent judgement.
I do not get the fig or date flavors as described, but I do get a lot of earthiness and leather. Still interesting and worth the try.
I had never tried Pu erh before this. Another review referred to it as 'barnyard tea' and that is definitely accurate. I can tell this is not a type of tea for everyone. It is very earthy, it resembles the smells of a barn in a good way, and almost has a clay like taste in there. Personally I enjoyed the tea, but like I said, it might not be for everyone
I tried this when the Poe was out of stock and was surprised to find the same flavors I loved in the Poe but with different subtleties that made it a new experience.
I didn't like it. It was just too deep/musty for me, rather like how I can't handle amaranth flour in baked goods. UPDATE: While I don't like it by itself, I do like it mixed with a bit of spearmint.
I hadn't thought a tea could be both airy and earthy at the same time, but I think Pu Erh Dante manages it. I bought samples of both Pu Erh Dante and Pu Erh Poe at the same time because I was worried that it would be too hard to tell them apart if I didn't try them fairly close together, but it wasn't as much of a problem as I feared. They really are pretty different.
Pu Erh Dante is lighter than Poe in pretty much every way. The aroma of both reminds me of horses - you'd think this would be a bad thing, but I find I actually kind of like it. Dante is less fragrant than Poe, and its flavor settles less solidly on my tongue, almost like it evaporates as I swallow. I consider it one of the weirdest teas I've tasted, although I do like it. I'm just not sure whether I like it more or less than Poe.
Basically, if you're looking for a gentler unflavored Pu Erh, I'd give Pu Erh Dante a try.
A good solid tea. The smell when you open the bag is sweet and earthy however I'm not a fan of the smell once you steep it. The taste isn't overpowering and would probably be good mixed with some flavored teas/creamers.
Smells and tastes like mushrooms and fresh earth. If you steep too much, you end up drinking tea that tastes like you're eating handfuls of dirt.
I had a good feeling about this tea, and I'm glad I ordered a 3oz bag, because I was correct-- it's amazing! Very rich and smooth, with a taste that immediately conjures whiskey and leather (in fact, this tea would probably taste incredible with a splash of actual whiskey in it). Due to the strong flavor, I'd say this isn't for everyone-- but it's worth a try if you're looking for something very earthy. Also, I re-brewed the leaves three times, and the flavor was still going strong.
Pu erh dante is a modern liquid transportation device -- drowning enchanted journey leads to nothingness
this is very smooth, I will this again. Sometimes I don't want a lot of flavor. This is perfect.
This was my first pu erh tea. After the first cup, I almost gave it away, but something brought me back. Each cup I brew is better and better. One of my coworkers described it as 'delicious, delicious dirt', and I don't disagree. It's a very earthy flavor, but one that I've come to enjoy.
Nice flavor. I like pu erh teas because they taste fine even when they are steeped a little longer than recommended. Very refreshing taste.
Not a huge fan of this tea. Smells like a zoo and tastes very very earthy. Almost like dirt. That being said, I didn't hate it. Weirdly smooth. Good for a change of pace.
I have tried Puerh and liked the Pu erh Pearls. however this blend was not to my liking as it was definitely stronger and more bitter than I like, even with diluting with more water after brewing. I followed instructions to use heaping teaspoon, I think next batch I'll use less for 3 minutes rather than heaping, maybe that will help.
I love all things pu erh and this is no exception. Even though the smell might put some off at first, the taste is pleasantly deep and earthy. Well worth the try for those who haven't yet. Excellent hot with a little milk and sugar or iced.
tried it a year ago. did not like. this time however, I enjoyed it. good flavor, woodsy, even without sweetener.
Pretty good but not the best I've had. Maybe if you're looking for something new give it a shot.
Not quite as dark as other pu erh teas, but a nice, earthy flavor.
I have loved all the teas I've tried with the exception of the pu erh dante. To me it had a very smoky taste, which I hadn't noticed in the description or any of the reviews... not my cup of tea.
Average at best. Nothing exotic here and not a great deal of flavor
one of my favorite teas now. has a creamy flavor like milk tea.
This was my first time trying any form of pu erh tea, so I must apologize for not giving this tea an appropriate review. My first cup was quite an experience because I didn't know what to expect. When first brewed, the aroma is sort of a mild preview of the taste, I was able to pick up the earthy flavor I later tasted. The color of the tea is a deep dark amber if enjoyed without any additives. Sometimes I enjoy this tea with sugar and cream and the color turns into a pleasant pinkish amber. Either way, its earthy flavor seems just right every time. I experimented a few times dilution and it seems to only affect the flavor significantly if you enjoy this tea with cream and sugar. I look forward to trying more variations of pu erh but this tea was a great first experience. I encourage others to give it a try!
Definitely a funky tea. But it's a nice one to switch it up once in a while and the caffeine kick is very noticeable to me.
This tea is only by personal preference not my favorite of the pu erhs. It has to do with the certain flavors added to it, but it is still very good. I can still taste the quality, though I'm more partial to the hazelberry, spice, and tahiti.
It's a strong and earthy tea. Not really my taste usually but makes for a nice change from many of the lighter and more flavourful blends.
Once I acclimated to the earthy taste of pu erh, this became my favorite! It's savory and packs just enough caffeine to brighten me up in the morning. I drink at least 2 cups of this tea every single day and love it.
Goodness freaking gracious, I loooove puerhs. Although Dante isn't as delicious as the flavored puerh, its dark purity still makes for amazing drinking. My first cup was a little over-brewed at 4 minutes, turning a tad bitter at the end, but the re-steep was smoother. Side note: really good with Nutella? Why? But it is.
Very straight forward Pu erh Tea--great with milk, it doesn't matter if you over brew, no bitterness.
I was concerned when reading the reviews regarding the earthy, woodness of this tea. However, I found it to be quite delicious. The aroma is rather 'earthy', but the taste does not reflect this to the degree I thought it might.
I brewed it exCtly as suggested and found I have probably been brewing my tea too strong. I recommend following the suggestions for brewing.
Perhaps not as smokey as I would like for a pu erh, but it is very comforting and flavorful.
Pu ehr is the smoothest tea I have had. It is quite versatile in that you don't have to adhere to a strict brewing time. It won't get bitter. This is my first choice of tea for relaxing.
Of all the teas I've tried, this has become my favorite. Pu'erh is like a regular fujian black tea gone Super Saiyan. The flavor is deep and earthy in a way that -- inexplicably -- both frees and grounds the senses. I may not be a tea expert who can pick out each of the individual flavors that emerge in a sip of tea, but I can say that there's something intensely (almost spiritually) satisfying about nursing a mug of Pu'Erh Dante.
I reviewed this earlier and rated it 'great'. Still do! It is becoming my favorite go-to tea because it simply cannot be over brewed. If I forget and leave the leaves in, it doesn't get bitter at all. I am finding myself craving this deep, rich, unique flavor.
I rate this tea as great because it is so versatile. It is very forgiving with brewing times. Whenever I want a solid cup of tea to carry around with me, this is a perfect go to. I can do multiple brewings, so that keeps the cost down. It has a pleasant earthy aroma, which makes me think of the woods, and feels very grounding to me. It has lots of body, so it can stand up to some cream but usually I prefer it without any cream or sugar. It is a sipper. Very pleasant on a cool morning :)
This tea is really delicious, and you don't have to use very much even when you make iced tea. The tea is strong in flavor, but not at all bitter, and the color is a little richer as well. I really love it!
One of my favorites. Very full bodied, with an excellent taste.
This was a great tea I used it for iced tea and it was great!!!
Having heard other tea fanatics talk about this tea I decided to give a whirl. After two cups I can say it's probably not for me. It's a little too 'earthy' tasting for my palette, but I don't regret trying it...which is one reason I'm glad Adagio offers samples.
It smells like the kind of tea I would love, but I just can't get into it. I'm going to play around with steeping temperatures and times to see if I'll like it better.
What a tea! I've had other types of pu erh, but wasn't nearly as fond of them as this version. I love the earthiness and the fact that it doesn't oversteep, as I occasionally forget I've got a cup brewing.
I think this is a bit of an acquired taste, but once it's acquired...wow!
Oh My God! I think I'm officially addicted to this! It's dark, earthy, tanniny and that health-food-store kind of pungent smell to it.
First brew, I was amazed at how dark the liquor was. Hubby was even impressed and it was just so rich and velvety that I even did a second steep (something I hardly ever do) and it was just as rich and dark - and just as pleasant with a drop of honey and milk.
Seriously - get this tea! It's worth every cent!
I waited far too long to try pu-erh tea! The scent reminds me of a hayloft when sweet, new hay has been brought in, with an earthy undertone. Wonderful for a country girl stuck in the city! The beauty of this tea is it's simple goodness. With some evap and sweetener, it's so comforting. No need to analyze it, just stop, rest the mind, and enjoy. As the description states, you CANNOT screw up when making this tea. I forgot about it while it was steeping, once. It steeped for about 15 minutes, and it was still delicious. Yet another benefit is its cost-effectiveness. I make my first (large) cup mid-morning with approximately a tablespoon of leaves. I leave some water in with those leaves and then add hot water to steep them again after lunch, again for mid afternoon, and, sometimes, AGAIN for evening. I increase the steeping time, just a bit, each time, and it is consistently tasty. Talk about a money saver! I think I may have found my perfect tea.
For me this tea needs a bit of cream and few pieces of rock sugar to offset how strong it is. Still a good tea, but not one I can drink neat.
Never tried pu erh before so I ordered a sample. Just not a fan of the flavor by itself, the pu erh hazelberry however was a fantastic mix.
I never thought I'd describe a tea as tasting like wet earth, moss, hay, and mushrooms but in a good way. I love this tea!
