I expected this to be more for my mom than for me, but nope, I need it all! Normally orange and chocolate isn't my favorite combo but it's perfect in this tea. I got a sample, and I wish I got more!
Update—I got more. The flavor works so well in this tea, and I have found chocolate to be hit or miss. Get a sample if you're curious!

This tea is AMAZING. It's like drinking a Terry's Chocolate Orange. The chocolate flavor is rich, and the orange goes extremely well with it. Really beautifully blended. Currently my favorite flavor!

Delicious. Not bitter at all. With a nice sweetness and flavor of chocolate and orange.

I got this tea for a friend and he seemed to really like it!

This is one of my favorite teas. I love the mix of chocolate and orange. I add a teaspoon of raw sugar and a dash of half and half. Great flavor combination!

★★★☆☆

Not for me. I have come to the rapid conclusion that I am not a fan of pu-erh teas.

★★☆☆☆

I very rarely enjoy pu-erh teas. The addition of chocolate and orange just wasn’t for me.

★★★☆☆

Dry, the oranges smell tingly and sweet, and the chocolate smell (a low-grade chocolate smell I'm not fond of) is potent. I can't really smell the tea past the flavorants, but I didn't expect to.
There was no fishyness after 15 seconds so I added the rest of the 212F water for my total 4.5 minute brew time. Though I was surprised at how strong the flavors already were after only 15 seconds--distinct chocolate and orange flavors already there, with an odd lubricate-y-ness from the tea.
Freshly brewed the smell is not strong, but still pleasant. The slightly funky earth smells of the pu'erh mask the chocolate smell into a pleasant aroma, and the orange is an easy to miss undertone.
Although the color has darkened since 15 seconds, the flavor hasn't changed much and isn't much stronger, at least when hot. It's not offensive in any way--the flavors play very nicely with each other, complimenting each other's strengths and hiding their weaknesses--but I really would have liked to actually taste the pu'erh here rather than a simple and very mild confectionery.

I could have gone for a little more orange zing, but overall this was pretty good. My last pu-erh experience wasn't great and I generally don't like chocolate flavor in my teas, so this had a lot working against it from the start, but I was pleasantly surprised. I would add some orange peels if I tried this one again, but still an enjoyable cup.

This tea is tasty and sweet. Great with milk and sweetener!

I've learned to do a 15 sec rinse for pu erh (basically a 15 second steep) in steep temp water to clear out any microorganisms that could create a low tide/fishy flavor.  Didn't like the smell of the rinse steep, so I tossed the rinse water and started fresh.  No orange peel in my CommuniTEA packet, so I added some.  I steeped for 5 mins @212º.  I love the chocolate orange combo, and wonder if my hopes were too high for this tea bc, though it was nice, I didn't love it.  Also, to me, the second steep didn't have much flavor.  It may have been my packet.  Eventually I'll probably buy a sample to give it another shot and so I can see how it is with the orange peel that should have come with it.  Based on this experience, I prefer the pu-erh hazelberry from the flavored pu-erhs (so good!) and tho I never thought I'd be a chocolate tea person, I have other chocolate teas I prefer, too.

Steeped for 5 minutes at 212, added milk and sugar. Such a perfect Christmas dessert tea!

★★★★★

I'm really enjoying this. I haven't consumed many Pu-erh teas, which is something I intend to remedy. Out of the bag it's cocoa nibs and orange. It's really well balanced upon steeping. I get all of the flavors (I think), without anything overwhelming. Cocoa, orange zest/essence, rounded out by the earthy tea. I did not add sugar, but I bet a bit of rock sugar would make the cocoa and orange pop!

★★★★★

Everything appeared present in my Communitea packet today. The aroma of the dry tea was absolutely fantastic. When hot the pu-erh was the most prominent flavor with the bitterness of the chocolate. As the tea cooled the orange came through as did the sweetness of the chocolate.

★★★☆☆

Pu-erh never resonated with me too much, but this was a good combination. This in roasted mate might be more up my alley (CommuniTEA)

★★★★★

I loved it! With sugar, without sugar. It was sooo good. But I find them I am liking the chocolate orange mixture a lot. My son was not a big fan..

★★★★☆

I made sure to rinse the leaves (10 seconds) before steeping and it’s a really good flavor profile!

★★★★★

Delicious, I loved it. It was nice and smooth. No bitterness

Reviewed as part of the communiTEA: really reminds me of the chocolate oranges I’d eat during the holidays!

★★☆☆☆

This tea is more bark than bite. The smell out of the package was like chocolate cover orange peel. But the resulting tea was an astringent tea with added chocolate that hides the bitterness/ earthiness of the tea.

★★★★★

I generally don't enjoy chocolate flavored teas, so I was a little disappointed when reading the ingredients on my CommuniTEA packet. Nevertheless, I pressed on, hoping the orange flavor would be prominent. Smelling the dry tea knocked me into Christmas mornings as a kid, pulling a chocolate orange out of my stocking. Okay, this tea might not be so bad, but I still wasn't sold on the chocolate. 5 minutes made for a pretty dark brew that mostly smelled of cocoa. The first sip was surprisingly awesome. It's got such a rich, complex flavor that I had to do a double take to make sure I hadn't made coffee somehow. This tea is so smooth and carries its own sweetness, with a little bit of orange brightening it up. I was so involved with my enjoyment of it that I forgot to try with cream or sugar, but I bet it'd be heavenly. The pu-erh, chocolate, and orange come together beautifully in a festive tea that I like more than I could have imagined.

★★★☆☆

Today's CommuniTEA pu-erh was much more approachable than the Pu-Erh Dante last month. The flavors I found difficult to appreciate in Dante were much milder in Chorange.

But it didn't really thrill me. My cup seemed lighter on orange and chocolate flavors than what I'd expected based on reviews. (Could well be because of inconsistent packet contents, and I was unlucky.) So I was mostly tasting the base pu-erh tea. It was fine, but I wish I'd gotten more of a chocolate orange experience.

To be fair, I didn't read about the hot rinse until after I'd steeped my tea. I added sugar and a touch of milk. However, it didn't taste bad. I got a very subtle chocolate and 'fruit' taste I would not have identified as orange if I hadn't known it. It's not bad, just not a favorite.

★★★★☆

I love chocolate and orange teas! This one is quite delicious. I will say I get more of a mocha taste instead of normal chocolate. I'm not a huge mocha fan, but otherwise enjoyed this cup of tea.

★★★★★

This was so good, it tasted just like a chocolate orange like I used to get in my stocking as a kid.

★★★★★

I am pleasantly surprised by this one! I low-key hated pu-erh dante, and I wasn't a fan of chocolate truffle, but this one hits right. 190 deg, 3.5 minutes, no additives

★★★★★

My first pu-erh and I'm smitten! I could smell the chocolate when I opened the package but the flavor I am tasting is all orange. Wow this one is good!

★★★★☆

I think my senses just aren't acclimated to pu-erh teas yet. I did a quick cold rinse, which I had learned is a good thing to do in order to decrease any fish smell.

This was my favorite pu-erh tea, though, so far. The chocolate notes were nice, and I hope to try more in our CommuniTEA!

★★★★★

Wow. This is a great tea! CommuniTEA has really let me branch out and try pu-erh teas, and this might be my favorite of them. The earthiness is very muted by the strong chocolate and orange flavors. The tea is extremely smooth, and delicious with an added spoonful of sugar. I also added a small amount of almond coconut milk, which took this tea over the top! It tastes just like a Christmas chocolate orange. The leaves held up extremely well for a second steep as well!

This one was a pleasure to drink. The combination of pu-erh, chocolate, and orange is really well done. All three components blend together flawlessly for a great sipper with zero bitterness. (5 min @ 212°F)

I absolutely adored this one. I did do a short 15-second rinse using the tip from one of the other CommuniTEA members. The resulting cup was a beautiful dark brown shade. The taste is rich and smooth. It's definitely got the earthy quality that I associate with pu erhs, which lovely dark chocolate and orange overtones. The citrus flavor wasn't super prominent when hot, but comes through more as the tea cools. It also shines through more on the second steep. I drank both of my steeps plain, with no added cream or sugar, as I found I really didn't need either with this tea. Might be fun to experiment with how those things modify the flavor later though. This one is definitely going on my wishlist. (Steep 1: 212 degrees for 5 minutes (with a 15-second rinse done before steeping); Steep 2: 212 degrees for 8 minutes)

I really enjoyed this. Chocolaty and orangy, and it was a very strong tea. I'd drink it again.

Imbibed with the CommunitTEA on Dec 7, 2020. While the chocolate and orange flavors came through well, I felt like this blend was lacking in the core component - tea. I am guessing that this was mostly an imbalance in my packet this morning, in which case your results may vary. Nonetheless, the components that I did taste were very good.

I have never tried flavored pu-erh tea before knowing adagio teas. This tea has nice orange and chocolate flavors. As I sipped this tea, Terry's Chocolate Orange popped up in my mind.

I love chocolate oranges, so I was thrilled to give this a try this morning. Right out of the packet, the aroma is incredible, equal parts chocolate and orange. Once steeped, the orange flavor is much more subtle, more of a supporting character to the chocolate. I really loved the way that this took cream and sugar, transforming the cup into a milk chocolate treat of a tea, with just a bit of orange flavor tickling around the edges. It's the perfect tea interpretation of a winter treat!

This tea reminds me of Christmas in a teacup. The chocolate and orange flavors mellow out the earthiness of the pu-erh, and are enhanced with just the smallest amount of sweetener. It tastes even better as it cools, so linger over this tea.

A chocolate orange without the sugar. Seriously, the one I get every year has same orange taste.

Like a chocolate orange, heavy on the orange. I like it, but it's not something I'd seek out.

Wow, I love this! The chocolate and orange flavors are so perfectly balanced and you get plenty of both in the flavor. The earthiness of the pu-ehr isn't lost, but neither is it so overpowering that the orange and chocolate are lost. I've tried this in signature blends but I'm really impressed at how flavorful it is on its own, as well!

This pu-erh tea has a nice creamy cocoa aroma and flavor. No need to add anything unless you just want to enrich the hint of orange. As per other's suggestion, it benefits from a quick initial rinse to remove unwanted mineral taste.

I've had this one twice. Once in my Adagio Advent Calendar which i drank with a little honey; hot then it cooled. Today's #AdagioCommuniTEA packet was transformed into a delightful latte. Chorange is a fancy way to say chocolate orange so of course I liked it. I sampled this Tea as part of the CommuniTEA (and Advent Calendar) December box.

After trying & not liking Pu-erh Dante in last month's CommuniTea I was fully prepared to dump this one down the drain, but upon opening the packet I got a strong orange-chocolate scent and my hopes were lifted ever so slightly.
As suggested, I did a quick rinse.. My mind might've been playing tricks on me; I thought there might've been just the slightest of fishiness in the rinse, so I dumped it just in case (Dante really did a number on me lol).
I did a full 5min steep next. I got a dark, rich color, an earthy scent topped with bright orange & smooth chocolate - like when I first opened the packet. The earthiness was too strong for me plain, so I added some sugar. This 'first' steep did have a hay-like flavor that distracted a bit from the orange-chocolate. It was alright. For the second steep the hay-flavor was all but gone, & the orange-chocolate rained supreme, again I sweetened it up with sugar. This was my favorite cup!
I'm a little surprised the flavorants managed to hang in for a rinse & 2 full steeps - in other teas the extra flavors are tired out by now. I'm tempted to see if it'll give me a third steep.
Orange-Chocolate is one of my favorite flavor combos, I'm really glad this tea beat my expectations!

I had the opportunity to try this tea twice in the same week and was amused to find that there was a slight taste variance most likely due to the presence of a ton of orange peel in my second packet of tea. The smell upon opening was lovely, earthy with some orange scents. I found the base a nice earthy flavour, not fishy or heavy but nice and warm toned. My first package allowed me to taste much more chocolate flavour- a rich dark chocolate mixed with orange but not at all chemically. The second package contained so many orange pieces that the taste was much heavier orange with the slightest hint of chocolate at sips end. Both brewed up for another lovely second steep! I have already placed an order for a sample bag of this, and suspect that this may just become a permanent tea addition to my (already overflowing) tea cabinet.

I did not like this one. It reminds me of the orange jelly filled chocolates. I’m not a fan of jelly filled chocolates. If you are, you’ll probably love the tea.

★★★★☆

Like other reviewers, I also didn't know that pu-ehr blends need a little bit of a quick rinse prior to steeping to get rid of the fishy taste, so my CommuniTEA sample today had just slight whiff of fish. But looking past that, the chocolate and orange flavors were lovely! I would definitely try this again, brewing it the right way this time.

I had a hard time reviewing this because it’s not so much that I think it’s worth three stars, but I personally only enjoyed it three-stars-worth. I’m just not big into chocolate teas, and this one had a strange aftertaste that I personally didn’t enjoy.

UPDATE: (Review Edited on 12/7/2020 after getting this tea in my CommuniTea box for the week of Dec 6th - it was the Dec 7th packet) This tea seems to keep finding me. Where the CommuniTea daily pouches aren't labeled I didn't know what the name of today's was and when I opened it I immediately saw the blue corn flowers (I like how they tend to make the brewed tea darker with a bluish grey color) and smelled something sweet. That's when I got excited! I drank the full 16 ounce cup, enjoying every sip before going to the site to see what the name of this great brew was. It's an example of why the names can make me like or dislike something more when I taste it. I'd just bought a sample pouch of this tea (and it came up as the 5th day sample in this year's advent calendar) and had been only so so impressed with it. I had been hoping for something that reminded me of the chocolate oranges that my husband gets me each year in my Christmas stocking. Based off trying the tea from the sample pouch my impression was that the smell of the dried leaves wasn't quite the chocolate orange I had been hoping for. I got notes of chocolate and some of orange but there was something else too that I couldn't identify. Once brewed (I brewed it for the full 5 minutes that was recommended) it was a dark brown brew and smelled very similar to the dried leaves which in my experience isn't normally the case. The brewed tea definitely had a taste that's also that mix of chocolate and orange. The flavor of the Pu-erh black tea really didn't seem to come through taste wise. Didn't need extra sweetener beyond my standard two packets for a 16oz tumbler. I'd decided that it wasn't quite the chocolate orange I was hoping for but a good tea. I had frankly put it on my 'not likely to buy again' list. HOWEVER, today not knowing what the tea was and therefore just basing my opinion on flavor I thought this tea was AWESOME and would definitely want to get it again. Hence I've gone back into Adagio to change my review write up and to bump it up to 5 stars from the 4 I'd given it before.

Absolutely delightful! I was scared when I saw that pu-erh tea was used in today's Communitea selection. What a wonderful surprise! The orange and chocolate come through so well and balance the earthiness of the pu-erh. Just the right amount of sweetness too!
