I do not like eating chocolate oranges, but man I sure like drinking these flavors. I like my tea with a bit more citrus so a added a few extra orange peels. The citrus flavors were moderate with mild chocolate flavors supporting the orange. The earthiness of the pu erh seems to help round out any rough edges from the orange peels and cacao nibs. No bitterness or astringency noted. Chocolate and citrus linger on the tongue after each sip. Just a great cup of tea. The 2nd steep may have even been better and was gone too quickly. Not one I would have ever bought so I am very happy to have a chance to sample this today with communiTEA. Steeped 200º for 5 mins. Cheers and Happy Holidays!

CommuniTEA Review: I forgot to rinse my pu-erh before steeping. Luckily I didn’t need it. There was no fishy taste. With my first few sips the earthiness of the pu-erh kind of threw me off. By sip number 5 or 6 I was in love! Even enjoyed a second steep.

Ok. Last year I evidently loved this tea, but this year I find it very middle of the road. The spice kind of overtakes the chocolate and orange, so maybe I just got a dud packet?

The chocolate is the prominent flavor, with the orange flavors complimenting it as you sip. Overall, a great tea!

not a bad tea by any means. the orange peel was a smidge too strong tasting for me and i didn’t get too much of the chocolate until the very end. the taste that lingered definitely gave me chocolate orange vibes, albeit not as sweet (i usually drink my tea black)

Orange and chocolate taste great together and this tea provides a tasty combination

The smell of chocolate and candied orange peels wafted out of today's packet. A full black tea steep for 5 minutes at 212°F diffused into a dark amber brown tea.

Chocolate and orange peels are front and center in the first sip. Earthy pu-ehr tea gave a rich smooth base for the blend. Mild and yet still plenty bold, this blend had an abundance of unsweetened smooth dark cocoa and orange.

Definitely tastes like chocolate orange! If a few chocolate chips were added, this one would turn into a dessert tea.

I wish this was any other tea than pu-erh. The flavors do their best to try and pull it off the ground, but I don't know if it'll ever be enough with pu-erh.

Was super excited to try this tea, and I was not disappointed! I added some honey and milk to mine, and its just wonderful. Nice citrus/chocolate combination <3 Reminds me of Christmas

The smell before brewing was so good, I was looking forward to drinking it. But my brewed tea smelled like dog breath every time I brought it to my face and the flavor was pretty bland. The orange is there, but in a dirty way like coconut, and the chocolate is negligible. Maybe it will be much better cold, but warm is not my cup of tea.

CommuniTEA Sample: One of the few puerh teas that comes through CommuniTEA and a really good one. Not quite to Hazelberry level, but very close. Used a gong-fu method instead of western brew (highly recommend using gong-fu for puerh to everyone!) and enjoyed 8 or so steeps of the tea. Short, quick steeps of the tea and it worked perfectly. Some decent chocolate flavor, but the earthiness of the puerh and the orange flavors came through the most. Highly recommend this to those that are new to puerh or want to branch out a bit.

Tried as part of the Communitea. I really enjoyed this! I don't have much experience with pu-erh teas, but this has certainly made me curious to try more. This flavor definitely got me excited for a piece of chocolate orange on Christmas!

The first time I tried this one I thought it was good but too weak in the flavors to hold my interest. This years packet was more balanced and I also decided to add extra cocoa nibs and orange peel. I love pu-erh teas, such a wonderful base for blends. It’s super forgiving, never bitter, you can get multiple infusions from it, you just can’t oversteep it. Some people prefer to do a rinse, I don’t feel it’s necessary with this blend. Chocolate and orange go perfectly together and work very nicely with the earthy pu-erh. 195° for 5 minutes.

This tea reminds me of the dark chocolate covered orange rinds my parents would buy me when we went Christmas shopping. There is something about chocolate and orange together that just works! The earthiness of the pu’erh is present but subtle. However, this isn’t an overly sweet tea. I think the blend is just right. Savory and sweet in perfect proportion. I added some sweetener to brighten the flavors up. On a varietal note: if you are wary of pu’erh because you’ve had the earthy, dark ones previously (that can be reminiscent of a basement floor or mushrooms), give this one a try because it is not that pu’erh! It’s definitely an entry level sip for the pu’erh reticent. It will change your mind completely. Happy Sipping!

I tend to not be a huge fan of pu-erh, but this is a good one. Combines well with orange.

The earthly pu-erh blends smoothly with the cocoa nibs making a rich, not quite bitter but also not sweet dark cocoa base. The orange flavor is bright and very distinct, shining threw but not over powering the other flavors. All in all I would say this tea is very well balance and quite pleasant.

The smell is very rich and chocolatey. A dark brew resulted in a moderate chocolate taste with weak orange notes. Some earthiness and no bitterness. Perhaps a different brewing regime is needed to bring out the rich flavors.

Tastes like an understated chocolate Orange. Smooth puerh base. Would buy.

Sipping along with the CommuniTEA: Strong candied orange with Belgian chocolate fragrance from the dry ingredients and packet. Once steeped for 5 mins at 212° F, I get cocoa nibs on the nose. Forgot to do the pu erh pre-steep and it has a hint of fishiness. But overall this is warm, comforting cup of tea with subtle pu erh funkiness, orange, and chocolate nuances.

I'm generally not a pu-erh fan. The only pu-erh I will drink is the pu-erh spice. This I will admit is the next best. It smelled like the orange/chocolate candy sold around Christmas time. The tea is a little strong but I can get use to it. Newbies might be turned off (some if not all). The December box is perfect to have this.

I have been wanting to taste this PuErh blend and it did not disappoint! The aroma from the dry blend made my mouth water. Such a smooth blend with decadent chocolate orange flavors. As it brewed I smelled the PuErh and got concerned but in the cup the blend came together for an extremely delightful cuppa! Well done Adagio, 🙌🏻 bravo!

7 Dec 2020 communiTEA review: I’ve been wanting to try this one for quite some time now. My goal is to try as many pu’erh teas as possible ... white, green, black or whatever. When I opened my communiTEA packet, I noticed that the orange peels were missing. I commenced to add a wee one-fingered pinch of orange peel from my spice pantry. Pleasant chocolate aromas were noted. No fishy/barn hay aromas or tastes were noted with a 15 second hot rinse ... I continued with the steep.

When hot, chocolate nib flavors were moderate and just a tad bitter as expected. I added a bit of sugar at this point. Mild pu’erh earthy flavors were noted. Orange tastes hadn’t made a show yet.

When warm, orange flavors came forward with moderate citrusy orange peel tastes. Pu’erh flavors were moderate providing woody and earthy notes. The chocolate worked to smooth everything into a very pleasant “wake me up” morning sip. A second steep provided a very nice melding of all flavors that was smoother than the first. Gotta winner here! (5 mins @ 200ºF, 3/8 tsp sugar)

The flavors in this tea are nice and strong, I was able to taste both the orange and the chocolate and the pu-erh tea went well with them both.

This seems to be a perennial CT favorite! The chocolate orange flavor is divine. If you’re not a fan of a slightly earthy taste in the background from the pu-erh tea base, don't worry, it's soft. The two main flavors of dark chocolate mixed with bright citrus are truly enjoyable. They compliment each other so well.

Sometimes Pu-erh teas need a rinse. So far, I’ve been lucky with the bag of Chorange I have and was lucky again today.. No fishy or off putting odors detected. I brewed 12 oz. with the 2 tsp / 3 g of tea in my CT packet with all ingredients and enjoyed a 6 oz resteep too. A sweetener add gives the flavors a nice boost. Chilled, this tea is delicious with the orange and chocolate flavors taking center stage. The earthy flavor that peeked out in the hot tea all but disappears with the cold. When I first tasted Chorange, it jumped right from my wish list to my tea stash with lightning speed.

This tea had a sweet orange flavor. I had to rank this a bit lower because the pu-erh give me the worst migraine ever.

Beautiful, beautiful blend. This tea is sweet on its own with a creamy, chocolatey mouthfeel and a very subtle orangey aftertaste. I struggle to find the right words for this one - it's one of the best teas I've ever had.

Chorange used to be one of my favorite Pu Erhs but lately I feel like it has an underlying taste that I can't put my finger on and don't enjoy as much as I once did. Chocolate is a tricky flavor and I don't always feel like it comes through well in this tea. I think I'll stick to Hazelberry for now.

It took a little while for the orange flavor to come out, but once it did, it was excellent! I only added a little bit of sugar and cream, but also enjoyed it plain on the second steep as well.

Mmmmm, this is SO GOOD. It is a rich, chocolately, mysteriously complex Pu Erh that smells and tastes delicious. I'm not getting a lot of the orange and that is fine with me, as I'm not really into oranges in my tea. But chocolate, yes please! It's so pretty to look at too, with the cornflowers and pieces of orange. I can't wait to resteep this in my special little pot and drink some more. A keeper!10 pinkies up~

I normally don't choose flavored pu-erh, but I've found that some other Adagio black teas get bitter too quickly. The pu-erh never does, and this lovely sweet-citrusy-floral tea allows me to brew a strong black cup with some indulgent flavor notes. The earthy pu-erh provides a nice counterbalance to the other notes. Somewhat unorthodox but quickly becoming a staple in my tea pantry.

The smell in the package is awesome. Nice chocolate and orange smell. The taste is a little milder than I would have liked. I wish the chocolate flavor was more pronounced. Still a pleasant tea though. I like the mild and subtle spice of it. Like most pu-erhs, I tend to steep these at least 10 minutes to get the most out of the fruity flavors.

Very nice tea! Love the chocolate orange flavor. I am enjoying pu-erh more and more.

The chocolate and orange nicely round out the pungency of this Pu-erh, making it a good place to start if you are curious about them. It is still quite strong, but I think it is palatable enough for newcomers to not get overwhelmed.
