Wuyi Ensemble Customer Reviews

Oolong from the WuYi Mountains in Fujian, China. Savory aroma, roasted vegetables. Faint pit-fruit notes. The honey-floral flavor and nutty, with white sesame, sweetened burdock root (fans of Japanese sweets, anyone?) or barley is satisfying and hearty.

YUM YUM YUM ! One of my favorites !
Nice and smooth.

★★★★☆

Really nice flavor! The store is excellent and the people very knowledgeable!

★★★☆☆

I'm not sure if it's too oxidized or too roasted, but I didn't really care for this oolong. I mainly prefer a lightly roasted Ti Kwan Yin or Dong Ding.

★★★★★

Very mellow and earthy. I loved the favor of this tea.

very tasty, but a bit too expensive to be an everyday tea.

★★★★★

This tea was very good - will definitly be getting more.

★★★★★

A nice light oolong with an almost grape taste, very good.

★★★★★

I'm usually not big on oolong teas, but this one is excellent. It has a refreshing, smooth taste-- this one might be a good breakfast tea for me.

★★★★☆

Nutty and vegetal. Smooth and delicious. Not what I expected from a black tea. It kind of reminded me of barley or a roasty sencha. Yum.

★★★★☆

Very nice oolong tea. There is a lot of flavor and decent mouth feel. I would definitely recommend this tea if you're looking to try an oolong.

Wuyi Ensemble Oolong tea is not one of my all time favorite teas but is very good and I'm glad I tried it.

★★★★☆

Light colored tea, smooth and well rounded. Earthy, but very delicate.

This oolong is quite nice. I'm not too keen on the minerally taste, but I guess it is good when I'm in the mood for that kind of flavor.

Complexity is the name of this tea. Steep it at lower temps for a completely different taste or a second steep for a different taste. Flush steep 10 seconds, then steep normally for a different taste. Not all tea can pull this off. It's very interesting and the flavor is full body and in your face every time.

I'll be looking for a higher quality version of this tea in the future.

★★★★☆

Definitely one of Adagio's better teas. I had a hard time between giving this four or five stars. It simply is not as complex as some of the better WuYi's out there, like a cheaper Big Red Robe. However, the roasty, melon-like flavor with a nice, mineral-rocky aftertaste that lasts over multiple infusions is an awesome selling point. This is definitely some of the cheapest WuYi tea I've come across, making it great for those new to WuYis wanting to take baby steps (and I'd recommend baby steps. WuYi teas are very complex). I drink this gong-fu style.

Nice oolong - rich color and favor. Several brews from each tea ball. Good any time - reasonable price as well.

★★★★★

Unique taste. Rich and satisfying. A sip starts out with interesting fruity-citrus flavors then becomes more earthy and nutty. I tried the ali shan in the past, and prefer this more robust tea.

★★★☆☆

It's a bit bland. It has a strong aroma when dry but it seems to lose that when you steep it. It's not bad, but it's not particularly good either.

My first Oolong, and definitely not my last! I didnt expect the mildness nor the grassy overtones. I drink it every night.

★★★★★

I absolutely LOVE this tea! Lightly sweet, earthy, and smooth, it's everything I want in a tea!

★★★★☆

This tea has a nice taste to it, somewhat simple and unassuming. It seems to me to be just a good, basic oolong, neither too little or too much in the flavor department.

★★★★★

Dark dried fruits on the nose, dates, apricots, raisins, the taste is mellow and earthy like autumn leaves with dried apricots on the finish which lingers for quite some time, out of the oolong sampler this was my favorite.

★★★★☆

Nice example of a Wuyi tea. Love that toasty flavor.

This is a light and refreshing tea. I had to add a little sweetner to it but otherwise, I like it. Nice to drink on a chilly day.

Before this tea I was not really a big fan of oolongs. I tried this from a sampler and was instantly hooked and promptly ordered the biggest bag they had.

A nice dark oolong with a mineral-like note to it.

Good, not too expensive oolong. Kind of the woodsy side, but some people like that.

★★★★★

A nice oolong that can be steeped many times without losing its flavor. It is my personal favorite oolong and it should be good for anyone who hasn't had oolong before and wants to try it.

★★★★☆

When I first tried this tea, I thought it was far too woody and strong. However, I gave it a second chance... and am glad that I did! Wonderful nutty flavor and aroma is really nice and soothing. With sweetener, the root vegetable notes are more noticeable. The tea even has a smooth honey finish. This tea has taught me that the first impression can be wrong. Will definitely reorder once I am out of this tea!

I ordered a sample of this and am not going to order more. I was looking for a more flavorful Wuyi I have had from another tea merchant (Rou Gui).

★★★★★

The flavor is very complex and pronounced. This is probably my favorite type of tea. This tea is great because after many infusions, the flavor gets better unlike a few other teas which just seem to become more dilute.

didn't rally like it, didn't have strong enough taste for me

Copper appearance on first steep. Strong smell, smells like burnt wood/leaves. Full bodied taste, very earthy. Definitely a tea you have to be in the mood for. But very good when you are

Fairly flavorful with a hint of floral aftertaste. This tea is great any time of day. I would recommend this to someone who wants to switch to a black tea that's just a bit different, yet rewarding.
