One of those teas where you feel really fancy when you drink it and makes you think, 'ooh!'
Very rare oolong from Singbulli Estate, Darjeeling, India. Muscat grape and apricot pit aroma (also the mark of fine Darjeeling black teas). Dried fruit flavor, lingering floral notes. A lesson in 'terroir': the place where the tea is grown.

One of those teas where you feel really fancy when you drink it and makes you think, 'ooh!'
Love it! If you like oolong this is great. Nice floral sweet taste and smell. Just wonderful.
I guess I just love Darjeeling, because I have NOT tried a bad one from Adagio. The flavor is so complex and soothing. I even made mine a little weak today and it was still amazing. Highly recommend!
nice tasting tea, very classic tea flavor in my opinion. added 1tsp of honey just to sweeten it a little
I really enjoyed this tea, my first sips were of a mild sweetness/ maltyness, I added a little honey and it was really awesome, the deep fruitiness almost date like undertone of flavor. I added a little vegan cream and it's delightful. I will steep again later and probably drink it with out the cream.
Today's CommuniTea packet is ooooh Darjeeling, an oolong tea from the Darjeeling region of India. Unlike green teas, oolongs are fermented and oxidized, but not so much so as a black tea. They can lean more toward one or the other, and to me this tea seems to lean toward black tea, which makes sense coming from a region known for its black tea. Generally speaking, the simpler the tea, the happier I am, and this is packet is pure tea. It brewed to a slightly reddish gold, and smells faintly musty and fruity in a pleasant way. I tasted a fruitiness as well, but more subtle than with a fruit tea. It's also somewhat astringent, but not disagreeably so. All in all, it's nice. (Brewed in 12 ounces of 200° F water for 3 minutes)
Oh what a joy this tea is! It brews up into a lighter colored cup with the most delicious honey aroma. It tastes mildly fruity with solid body and is very smooth. A little astringency at the end leaves a clean taste. Very nice!
Sweet Darjeeling, i enjoyed this tea I sampled this tea as part of CommuniTea April 2021 box.
I was curious about this tea camelleon, an oolong grown in black tea country...I brewed it up as recommended and noted that the colour was quite light, lighter than I expected.
The taste was nice, very smooth and absolutely no bitterness at all. However, I like my black teas malty and this had no maltinesd, but more oaty toastiness. It was light and an easy drinking tea, but a touch on the light side of my preference. This was a very interesting cup to taste and I'm very glad that adagio included this as today's communitea!
My first introduction to these flavors was through a bag of Twinings' brand of darjeeling. This iteration is miles above—it's wonderful!
I found this tea rather mild in flavor. It also wasn't very astringent. Astringency is one of the reasons I'm not a big fan of oolong teas. I noticed a little bit of the fruit flavor they mentioned, but it was not particularly bold. Overall, I didn't find this tea any more special than any other oolong.
Today's packet smelled musty and earthy (in a good way), and contained one another single ingredient: Darjeeling tea! This one's a specially processed Oolong variety, with a less pronounced briskness. I had sampled this one before at 3 minutes steep time, so I decided to steep it a bit longer for 4 minutes at 212ºF.
The first sip is delightfully woodsy and full of brisk yet mild darjeeling flavors. The muscatel flavor is stronger after steeping for 4 minutes, but isn't as bitter as some other Darjeeling blends can get when steeped for the same amount. The finish is mildly astringent, with a nicely fresh and almost green tea quality to it.
After sampling all the different Darjeeling types, I had originally passed over this one due to the very light muscatel flavor when I compared to other types all steeped for 3 minutes. Now I realize this was simply due to the steep time, and this one benefits from the full 4 minutes. This one is a very nice and unique Darjeeling blend that will now become an alternate lighter choice on our home's Darjeeling tea menu.
Adagio does the classics well! This is an elegant Darjeeling, and my first foray into that type of tea. I will admit to enjoying Yunnan teas more, but this one is an excellent tea for those who enjoy the simple straight varieties. I get the slight fruitiness, but miss the malty rich flavor of other black teas. Nice to try something new!
An amazing mild and smooth tea. As others have noted, there is zero bitterness.
A beautiful and refreshing cup of tea. Start any day or spend any afternoon unwinding while sipping this beautiful cup.
I have nothing negative say about this blend with its slight sweetness. Going forward I plan to mix this tea with other blends because I think it would be great for that even if I have to steep them separately.
Ooooh Darjeeling is oh so delicious. This oolong tea this morning, greeted me with its gentle good tea scent in the CT packet and brewed into a nice light bronze liquor. My first sip was of a slightly malty and mineral flavor that led into a stone fruit taste and white wine-like finish. Its medium body had a gentle floral and fruity scent to the nose and a pleasing amount of astringency with a tangy aftertaste. There was no bitterness detected. It’s a favorite tea for me and my first discovery of it was in a supermarket. I bought Darjeeling tea bags in a box because I was delighted with its name and drank the entire box within a week. I knew it would be a favorite ever after. Adagio has elevated my standards through CT and has made this special Darjeeling available today. Yes, it goes in the cart. We’ll discuss later whether or not I need to add yet another tea to my already outsized Boston Tea Party collection.
2 g/ 3 ½ tsp of tea found in my CT packet today. Brewed 12 oz. at 195F (oolong temp.) for 3:30 minutes. In that time, most of the tea leaves had opened and fallen to the bottom of my IngeniTEA. I tasted and sipped most of the hot light brown tea plain, then sweetened with honey. Just a small amount of sweetening brightened all flavors and I chilled a mini cup of it too to try as an iced tea. The cold tea was very tasty and milder in flavor. I made one more resteep of 8 oz. but the first steep had all the true flavor I enjoyed most. This tea will always be on my A list for Appreciate and Adore. Ooooh Darjeeling you’re truly my darling cuppa o’ tea.
Dry tea are small curls that are in a range of browns that have a slight hay scent to them. Once brewed, the tea is a pleasant medium golden brown and has some honeysuckle notes. When hot, the tea has a delicate balance of some malty notes and a nice honeysuckle sweetness. When warm, the sweetness and mild malty flavors increase in intensity, but still maintains a nice balance. I do not detect any bitterness, and the finish is slightly astringent like a sweet wine. Second infusion: tea is similar colored to first infusion, but weaker in taste. When warm, it was still sweet like the first infusion, but with less of the honeysuckle and a more muted flavor profile. Still a very clean taste and no bitterness even with a longer second infusion. Brewed at 190 for 3 minutes first infusion, 4 minutes second infusion.
This tastes like a nice white tea if white teas had conviction. Smooth and sweet flavors but not as delicate and uncommitted.
This is a beautiful tea.
The long wavy leaves are beautiful and produce a beautiful smooth tea. I want to say a tradintional tea and this is the flavor of tea i mostly grew up on. And when I see a fancy tea table imagine the tea pot is filled with.
This Darjeeling tea is smooth. Perfect to drink on its own. Even better with a lump of sugar.
I did not try it with a bit of cream. However I know from experiece this would be lovely with cream or milk,.
This tea also holds it flavor even when cold. Making it an excellent iced tea.
Good blend between a black and oolong tea. It is a good basic tea and does not need any additional sugar.
Looking at the back of the packet for the ingredients and the steeping instructions, I was taken aback by the fact it literally said, 'ooooh darjeeling tea.' Well. I ended up having to check the website to make sure that wasn't a typo. It's not. It's the name of that type of tea.
It also might as well be a descriptor because this one of the easiest to drink teas I've had. Recently there have been many good teas; this still stands among them as a very good one.
Just like yesterday's Sencha Premier is an ur-green, today's Ooooh Darjeeling is an ur-oolong. Even with it being from India, from the Darjeeling area, which is much more well known for its black teas, it's very much an oolong, and a smooth oolong at that.
Wishlisted.
Such a lovely oolong. Rich and well balanced when it comes to flavor with just a hint of astringency. Fabulous without anything added. Just a lovely tea to enjoy sip by sip.
This is a very interesting cup of tea. It's light with a lot of depth and it changes with ever sip and every steep. This is the first darjeeling I've tried, so I don't know how it compares, but I've been learning about oolongs and this is definitely a different taste. I'm not getting much floral or fruit, but more of a pleasant, earthy taste. I tried it straight, with a little honey, and with a little stevia and I find I like the flavor with the stevia the best. It brings out the sweetness without hiding the flavor.
My palate can't find the flavors noted in the description of this tea. It's pretty musty, and a little bitter when I used the steeping directions given. If I look really hard I can find some of the muscat flavor at the beginning of the sip. For me overall this seemed like a regular oolong, nothing I'd go out of my way for. I've gotten 3 full-flavored steeps from it so far.
This is a lovely tea! Tasting it, I wouldn't have known it was an oolong. Its very reminiscent of a nice black tea.
Oooo Darjeeling, you live up to your name. You are perfect as is, I wouldn't change (add) a thing! Smooth, mellow, just enough astringency to keep things interesting. I am enticed to have another cup while relaxing under my favorite backyard tree. Looking forward to the afternoon!
Ooooo, I love this tea. I am both a darjeeling fan and an oolong fan, so this tea was right in my wheelhouse. It has the lovely aroma of a darjeeling with the mellowness and complexity of an oolong. I detected no bitterness, but it has the astringency that I love. Definitely good for multiple steeps.
Ooooh... There. I said it. I've learned never oversteep Darjeeling. This is the best Darjeeling I've ever had. But, I'll always buy breakfast tea and Earl Grey over Darjeeling. Apologies to Darjeeling lovers everywhere.
Enjoying with the CommuniTEA today: scents of honey and toasted oats noticed from the dry ingredients. After steeping for 3 mins at 190°F, I notice strong honey and oat notes, when I take a sip more subtle honey tea notes with a touch of oxidation that reminds me of hazelnut. This is a delicate, delicious and rich tea.
This is incredible. It's a soft, almost mild-flavored black tea that has some pretty complex layering to it. Drinking this as a casual tea-drinker, I might not have noticed the complexities, but because I was tasting it specifically to review it on the CommuniTEA, I paid closer attention.
This tea is a little bit earthy, a little bit floral, and a tiny bit fruity, and these flavors don't all hit at once. They mingle together upon sipping and seem to break apart and take turns registering on your tastebuds in the aftertaste. It's actually kind of genius and I think I might be in love... Another one for the wishlist!
Another philosophical cup! I’m fascinated by the origin of this tea and regret that my pallet is too pedestrian to really pick up all the notes! However, I can say that this a delightful cup of tea: smooth, not too bitter, flavorful. I highly recommend it!
I’m definitely in the minority today. My tea look a lot lighter based on photos so perhaps I brewed it wrong. It had that distinctive green oolong taste. It definitely needed sugar but it’s still something I wouldn’t buy.
200 degrees for 4 minutes.
My grandpa grew muscadine grapes on his farm when I was a kids, and the dry tea leaves smell just like they did when the summer sunshine warmed them. The brew is smooth, fruity, and full bodied, with lovely astringency, that mucadine tang coming through in the aftertaste. I enjoyed multiple steeps of this wonderful tea. A truly exceptional darjeeling!
A bit mild for my taste, as most oolongs are, but very pleasant. I taste fruity notes as well as a mild sweetness like brown sugar or molasses, and minimal bitterness.
Absolutely delicious! I didn't know what to expect, but this is a lovely cup of tea.
Delicious! This is in my top 10. I love the darjeeling flavor with the mildness of the oolong. The aroma and flavor are a bit confusing if you don't know what you're drinking, but once you do it makes perfect sense.
Oooh! A nice black oolong tea. I’m enjoying all of the flavor notes here, definitely picking up on undertones of fruit. Yum!
This was a very pleasant introduction to Darjeeling. Nice and simple, the flavor was smooth and took on a sweetness as it moved from hot to warm. I’m not sure how I’d feel about it cold, but I enjoyed it enough that the cup didn’t reach that point! Haven’t attempted a re-steep yet, but I’m hopeful I can recreate this first cup again!
Loved this tea. It is very smooth not bitter and naturally sweet tea. I was surprised with how much tea was in the package and actually made a small tea pot to enjoy.
This is a light delight. It’s a unicorn of a tea and a delicious one at that. An oolong from India? Yes, indeedy! It has a light mineral nose and super dainty mouthfeel. It’s so creamy! I get grapes, dried fruit and a hint of minerality when I sip. As the description notes, this is truly a tea for those who are wanting to go to a deeper level with their knowledge and indulge in the taste of terroir. I adore it. Happy Sipping!
The presence of beautiful white-tipped oolong tea was noted in my communiTEA packet. I purchased a pouch of this tea almost a couple of years ago , but never reviewed it until now. Tasting an uncommon oolong from the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India is a treat indeed.
I had 2.67 grams of tea, enough for a 10.5 ounce steep. I steeped at 190°F because this was a brown colored, not black tea. I pulled the steep at four minutes, when most of the leaves had fallen and the color depth was not changing.
When hot, I was greeted with a handsome light chestnut colored cup of tea. Mild sweet, malty and chocolate flavors were noted. A mild bitterness was noted. So I added ¼ teaspoon of sugar to counteract that.
When warm, moderate malty, honey-sweet and nutty flavors were noted.
Towards the finish, a pleasantly astringent taste similar to a muscatel white wine hangs around on your pallet for quite a while, allowing you to enjoy this tea even longer. A dry raisin fruitiness was noted at the end. A second steep was even better. (4 mins @ 190ºF, ¼ tsp sugar)
Tasty, with cereal notes. I brewed at 200 for my first cup rather than the suggested 212. There was no bitterness. I added creamer to the bottom half of my cup, though it didn't need it, and it was just as good like that as it was without it.
Ooooh this is good tea! The aroma when opening the CommuniTEA packet is amazing. Fresh, warm, woodsy and lightly floral. Like walking through a Forrest right after a light rain. It steeps to a light toffee color as the leaves unfurl. I like to brew my first cup at 190° for 2 1/2 minutes. There is absolutely no bitterness and little to no astringency. There’s a warm and toasty flavor with a smooth mouthfeel. I feel like this is a tea that will go with just about anything and I can drink this all day.
The smell of this was intensely chocolaty when dry, then when brewed took on a more classic Darjeeling scent. As for the taste, it's very similar to a mellower spring tip Darjeeling tea. Super good.
I like both traditional oolongs and black Darjeeling teas. This tea somehow is similar to both, and yet neither. What it reminds me of most is probably Yunnan jig. I like it! Pleasantly mild.
my first time having a Darjeeling and I really like it. Nice smooth black tea.
I have always liked Darjeelings. This one is very light without the body that some of the others have. I suggest that you don't add milk. I prefer the Sunma Summer.
I am a big fan of Darjeeling and this is one of the best I've tried. It has a wonderful flavor. I am glad I ordered this and I can see why it's so rare.
I've always loved the subtle flavors of a good darjeeling and this one hits it out of the park. Sweet, mild, yet complex flavors develop slowly over the steep.
