Ooooh Darjeeling Customer Reviews

Very rare oolong from Singbulli Estate, Darjeeling, India. Muscat grape and apricot pit aroma (also the mark of fine Darjeeling black teas). Dried fruit flavor, lingering floral notes. A lesson in 'terroir': the place where the tea is grown.

A little astringent. Has a strong earthy base with slightly fruity notes. As I continue sipping, it starts to taste kinda malty. Good for multiple steeps, the mineral flavors get toned down and the fruity ones become more noticeable.

Today's tea - mmmmm. Musty and dry... If this tea were a song, it would be...The Misty Mountains Cold - The Hobbit.

CT packet 3/15 - So light and refreshing! I really like this darjeeling even though that's not one I'm usually fond of. It has a malty sweetness that I really love. In a way it sort of reminds me of a southern style sweet tea - even without any sweetner.

Smooth, no bitterness, no extra flavors, just the tea. Wonderful and going on my order list.

Such a nice and pleasant afternoon sip today, I know I have tasted this variety before, just not sure where and when, I'm glad I know what it is, at a medium caffeine level, it makes a perfect mid morning/early afternoon sip.

I really love this tea. No bitterness or astringency. Mild and relaxing. Great with a little honey.

Lovely, tastes sort of like a light black tea but NOT like a weak black tea. I like strong black teas in general but I really liked this tea. Drank it straight, steeped at 200 for 3.5-4 minutes - 2 steeps. Lovely morning tea.

This is a light-colored brew with a hearty, unique taste that is just Darjeeling! I’m happy to have more of this tea, and I just placed an order for Rohini First Flush from the Masters site. I steeped at 190 degrees for 4 minutes and added just a little rock sugar. I got an equally flavorful second steep as well!

An oolong with an interesting change of depth from steep to steep. No astringency, and a light mineral finish at the end of each sip.

Today's communiTEA sample: A full-bodied and a little malty tasting oolong. Ooooh darjeeling is delicious!

This is my favorite oolong so far. It's simple and delicious. It doesn't taste nutty to me like the more oxidized oolongs often do. It tastes like a mild and extra smooth black tea to me.

This as a nice smooth oolong. It was a good tea for not being flavored and a nice starter to the day. I elected to brew at 195 for 4 minutes. CT 3-15-23.

This is a pretty delicious tea that starts out pretty easy and mellow and grows more complex the longer it steps. However, there is a limit. I accidentally oversteeped mine and it got very bitter very quickly.

An absolutely lovely cup of tea! I don't have a sophisticated enough palate to pull out individual flavors, but my overall verdict is that this is delicious, and absolutely worth a try!

This tea has a very pleasant floral smell when first opened and makes a beautiful black tea with an almost honey-like flavor. The overall taste is mild, but still has a slight mineral flavor that you would expect with this kind of tea. It's definitely something you could drink as a nice way to start your morning or as a jump start into your afternoon.

This is a quintesential Darjeeling. Lots of flavor but not too much. Definitely a good daily option.

I really didn't know what to make of this tea. The dried leaves smelled like summer, but once brewed smelled unpleasant. The taste was better, but changed with every sip - sometimes sweet, sometimes mellow, sometimes astringent. On my third infusion I finally had the sense to add a little unsweetened almond milk. That cut the astringency, but to me, this tea is just unremarkable.

I wish I had talented taste buds so I could pick up all the nuances here, but I can say with confidence that this is a lovely, light, smooth tea. Not as delicate as a white tea, but more so than the oolongs I’ve tried. I got no astringency at all — two excellent steeps from the CommuniTEA packet. 200F for 3-4 mins.

CommuniTEA Sample: Oolongs are always a favorite of mine and it was fun to try out this Darjeeling version. Very smooth with little to no roasted notes, there are flavors reminiscent of a green tea mixed with the depth of a black tea. Overall, it works very well and is an enjoyable sip.

Today's CommuniTEA is Ooooh Darjeeling (3-15-23). Upon opening my packet, I had a fantastic amount of tea. I added some milk thistle and manuka honey. It was a pleasantly plain tea, not too strong and not too light. I enjoyed it and would definitely recommend if you like plainer, simpler teas!

This is a nicely complex black tea that holds its own without milk or sweetener. Next time, I would steep it 30 or so seconds less to cut out the slight bitterness. Not necessarily a tea I would reach for first in a selection of blacks, but a pleasant cup nonetheless.

I am unfamiliar with the world of darjeeling tea, so I couldn’t say how this compares to other varieties. I do, however, enjoy oolong. This tea seems to have a lot of the mineral qualities of an oolong, but it’s also got a lot of boldness and a little sweetness. Almost like if a Scottish Breakfast married an oolong?

★★★★★

Wow! I am completely blown away by this Darjeeling oolong tea. Out of all the unflavored teas I have tasted, this has been one of the most complex and layered experiences. It glides down so easy and smooth with no bitterness and just a touch of astringency towards the end as it cools. But best of all, it's spot on with its description. I always taste my tea within the first minute after its done steeping. I know its hot but my mouth doesn't care. At this point I can only detect its slightly malty and mineral tones. As it starts to cool the apricot stone like flavor shows its face and it's so unique and exactly as described. Towards the end I'm wondering if I finally taste the muscat grape flavor and yes I believe I do! What an awesome tea!

My favorite of the various Adagio darjeelings I tried. I'm not super familiar with darjeelings in general, but I loved the deep but floral flavor and scent of this, plus a great aftertaste.

Update 3-15: I still really like this darjeeling (all darjeelings really!), with its natural sweetness. But my favorite Adagio darjeeling is probably darjeeling sungma summer - it's got more of a punch!

I was not excited about this tea until I realized it was an Oolong. Darjeeling teas are usually too light for me but this oolong is really lovely. Happy surprise today. I will see how this holds up for a few more steeps.

I have rarely met an oolong I didn't like, and this one I absolutely love. Darjeeling is now normally added to earl grey teas, which would explain my fondness for all things earl grey. This oolong is smooth and leaves a light taste of honey on the tongue. On the cool down, it becomes even sweeter, with no bitterness. It's simply a lovely cup of tea.

In the bag: Long, twisted needles of dark brown tea. They're in various stages of curling, where some have curled all the way into a ball and others are laid out straight, as if for a day at the beach. No additives.

On the nose (pre-steep): Mild, woody must, like wet logs. Touch of salt, giving the impression of potato chips made from wood. Hint of raisin, depending on how I position my nose.

On the nose (post-steep): Similar to pre-steep, but without the must or salt. Scent is somewhere between logs in a forest after it rains and river grass.

On the tongue: Mild chocolate and malt flavors. Hints of nuts and raisins in the aftertaste. Only a touch of bitterness.

Opinion: A decent tea but not one that I will crave. I give it credit for being a complex tea: there are plenty of layers and nuances to contemplate. In the end, however, the flavors are not appetizing.

Preparation: First steep 4 min, second steep 8 min. Both @ 195 ℉. No sweetener. I picked this preparation because Jim R. recommended it.

When I opened my CommuniTEA packet, I noticed the robust, malty aroma of the tea with a hint of sweetness. I steeped the tea for 3 minutes. This produced a very smooth cup of tea with no bitterness. The flavors of this tea are complexed and I noticed earthy notes and hints of stone fruit, with a bit of a mineral finish to it. Overall, a very enjoyable cup of tea!

I’ve had another Darjeeling before and am a huge fan. This one is nice and smooth, not as strong as the other I have sampled. I can see how sweetener would pull even more flavor out of it but it is perfect as is. It’s an excellent stand alone tea that doesn’t need bells and whistles.

I've gone back and forth between thinking this tea is simple and straightforward and thinking it's complex. I guess that means it's complex! I didn't note any of the muscat/apricot character mentioned in the description, but it is earthy in a very approachable way, and there was a richness to the flavour. This was a soothing cup to start the day.

Oooooh Darjeeling

Recommended Steep 212°F for 3-4 minutes. I steeped at 200°F for 3.45 minutes in approximately 11 oz of water with 1.5 tsp of Adagio tea/rock sugar.

Upon opening the CT packet, I can’t quite place the aroma. It is vaguely reminiscent of the outdoor, maybe hay is the best descriptor. It is a pleasant aroma.

Once brewed it is a lovely almost caramel colored tea that is moderately sweet, even when hot. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this. It’s just a simple, tasty tea that I really enjoyed. It reminds me of a tea I used to drink at one of our local Chinese restaurants. I love it. 5 stars from me.

UPDATED from 4/30/21: “Oooh, Love to love you baby!” And I do! This has such an unusual aroma as the CommuniTEA packet opens, like a musty mountain hike. The black, tightly curled leaves open up into large green leaves as they steep (at a slightly lower temp) into a deep gold color. What a lovely flavor, woody, yet somehow fruity. There is a slight astringency, but absolutely no bitterness. This needs no additions. Darjeeling meets Oolong and the taste is oooh so good. Since it also steeps many, many times, this is reasonably priced. Tastes good hot or cold, and seems to pair well with various types of food, too. (Multiple steeps: 3 mins @200ºF).

This Darjeeling is more ' in your face' than other ones I have had. There is no delicacy here! The flavors are bold and minerally. If you think traditional Darjeelings are too mild, try this one!
