A good milk
Oolong but definitely not as great as other companies.
An oolong tea prized for its inherent cream and butter notes. Lower quality versions enhance these notes through aromatization. Ours is a true Milk Oolong, with slightly roasted leaves that yield a light-bodied cup with sweet buttery texture and delicate floral aroma.

A good milk
Oolong but definitely not as great as other companies.
I was very disappointed by this tea. Due to the price and the fame of milk oolong, I was expecting a lot more. I've had milk oolong that was far more flavorful, this one was incredibly weak and almost flavorless. I almost convinced I got sent the wrong thing
One of my favorite teas. Without any additions it naturally taste like it has milk in it.
Delicious! One of my absolute favorite flavors! Creamy with a slightly sweet taste. Highly recommend, also good with milk in it.
It’s a very mild flavor. It was a pleasant flavor but I needed more tea to make it strong enough.
After trial and error, I made a cup that was sweet without adding any sugar! I like this one for evenings, the flavor is very light.
My absolute favorite. I do not even use sugar or cream. Good just as it is hot or cold
Did not like this nearly as much as other milk oolongs I've tried, so I won't be buying it again.
This has been a favorite for a long time. It's so smooth and a little toasty but not too much. Can be steeped almost indefinitely!
Edit: I have continued to have this tea - changing my steep time and temperature, and how much tea I use - has made drinking this infinitely better! Slightly less tea, steeped for about 2 minutes, gives me a rich, complex cup, which does indeed have a rich, somehow almost-creamy mouthfeel. I'm happy I figured out the trick!
-----------
I am kind of ambivalent on this tea; I typically like slightly darker teas, or very delicate-yet-complex teas. For my first steep of this, I primarily got a lot of green notes, and very slight herbal/floral notes. It had a nice body to it, though it was pretty light-looking.
For a second steep, I brewed it a little longer, at a slightly higher temperature, and while I still got the green and slightly floral notes, there was a strange, bitter, kind of metallic, vaguely perfume-y, almost soapy aftertaste. And a not-as-nice grass flavor.
I may attempt to brew another batch with slightly less tea and see how it goes, or possibly only steep it once (though I hate to waste still-good tea!), but the tannins in this one are making my tongue stick to the insides of my mouth funny, so combined with the aftertaste, I'm not super-fond of that. XD I am hoping this first time is just a fluke though, and that future steeps will surprise me!
Not what I thought it would taste like but it’s super mellow and great after a long day
I am absolutely in love with this one. It bit pricier than the other teas I have been getting but since I use is sparingly, it is worth it. I have found I have not had to add any type of sugar, sweetener or cream to this tea is it does the job all by itself. Thank you for having this option!
Delicate, light, and creamy. Subtle, but very flavorful. The perfect cup for any afternoon.
This oolong has a round, rich taste. Great for morning and and afternoon pick-me-up.
Very good tea. Not as 'milky' tasting as I would like but still a good oolong tea.
This was good, my first experience with Milk Oolong, just not my favorite.
Worth the price. I try to save it for when I need something special and I never regret it. I love the smoothness, balance, and flavors.
While we liked the flavor of the milk oolong, it wasn’t as notable as the Jade oolong, which remains our favor.
I really enjoyed this tea. It had nice flavor. It was creamy but smooth. It had a nice mouth feel. I will order this again
My absolute favorite! This oolong is so creamy and delicate. It's a bit expensive for me to stock and drink regularly, but I like to use it for meditation, or when I want to let the tea be the centerpiece of my sensory experience. It opens beautifully in a cup or pot, and I can get multiple steeps, though I often enjoy drinking it 'grandma' style.
If you love a traditional oolong flavor, this is a great tea! It’s my go-to when I’m looking for a light semi sweet flavor. And you can steep it multiple times!
Oolong teas are some of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. This is a smooth tea with a nutty, buttery finish. A 3 minute steep did not evoke any bitterness. I will definitely be purchasing more.
This is one of the most exquisite teas I've ever tasted. I haven't had many oolong teas save for the kind you get at Chinese restaurants, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It really lives up to the 'milk' in its name because it has a very creamy feel, even without putting anything else in. Faintly smoky. It doesn't taste like any black, green, or Chinese tea I've had before! It's on the pricey side so this is a rare treat to have once in a while, but definitely worth getting the sample pack.
Delicious and light, I was hoping for a special treat and this certainly hits the spot.
I've never really liked Milk oolong, many of them have the 'cream' flavoring sprayed on top and it wasn't my thing. This one however has no such spray flavors and is amazingly delicious.
This tea was everything I hoped it would be and more. I typically go for black tea with a splash of heavy cream. This tea smells amazing and definitely gives off a creamy taste without adding anything extra. 10/10 would buy again and might be my new favorite tea!
A nice light oolong tea. I was happy it was in the communiTEA box because it was one I wanted to try.
I thought this oolong was nice but nothing spectacular. The buttery notes were interesting, and I thought the light color of the tea was very pretty; but for the price, I'd rather have ali shan than this. (2m30s @ 195 F, no additions)
Thanks to CommuniTEA I'm learning that I really like these floral greener oolongs! I enjoyed this tea and found it to be a calming cup. Light, floral and crisp with a slightly nutty flavor. The floral came out more in the aroma than the flavor. The creamy texture was mild or light for me but distinct, and kind of interesting, and the tea still left a clean mouthfeel. I think I preferred the golden flower, but would def be interested in trying this again sometime.
This tea is a fantastic candidate for multiple steeps. Slightly sweet, the creaminess of this tea leaves a buttery mouthfeel.
It was fun to watch the leaves open up! It has a very creamy feel to it and a light, almost floral taste. Very enjoyable!
Enjoyable buttery green taste. I was able to steep 3 times.
I didn't think I would like this because it smelled kinda grassy, but the flavor was really light. I enjoyed this more than I expected, but I wouldn't buy it for myself.
Rolled teas are so fun to watch! F these are definitely tightly rolled. As suggested by other reviews I gave it a little extra time to let it unfurl in the first steep. The color was very light (& the choice of a yellow mug didn’t help lol). The flavor was more on the floral & buttery side. The second steeped brought with it a smoother mouthfeel, which really lent itself to the flavors.
Steeped (1) 195F 3.5min, (2-3) 3min
The ingredients list for today's CommuniTEA packet just contained one of my favorite oolongs:
Milk Oolong! The packet contained spherical rolled Oolong leaves, ready to unfurl.
The first time I tried a true Milk Oolong was at a local tea shop that had a tea room in the back. We sat there and tried a sample of their Milk Oolong, and instantly I was hooked. Adagio's take on this classic Milk Oolong tea is very good! Steeped as an Oolong tea in the VelociTEA maker produced a brew with a pleasantly familiar green hue. Steeping for 4 minutes at 195ºF produced a brew that was a bit lighter than I'm used to given that I generally steep this tea a bit longer and it needs some extra time to fully unfurl. With tightly rolled oolongs like this, it can help to awaken them if you pour the water slowly while swirling around over the leaves in a steeping filter. With the automatic VelociTEA maker, the water is dispensed from a single static location, so perhaps a pre-awakening with some hot water might help first (or a second steeping).
The first sip is light yet full-bodied flavor of a classic Milk Oolong. The mouthfeel is like milk, silky and smooth. It has a floral mild grassiness with pleasant creamy smooth and almost sweet finish.
Good quality Milk Oolongs can stand up to multiple steepings, and Adagio's is up to the task. The second steep is lighter yet still full-bodied, and can be steeped for a longer time without risking any harsh grassiness. If you're lucky to have more of this tea lying around, an extra sprinkle of the fresh rolled-up leaves can spruce up the subsequent steepings and stretch the leaves to make pot after pot. Just be aware that the leaves will expand and could pack themselves into a filter with limited space. This tea would also make a good candidate for steeping 'grandpa style' due to the very large and intact full leaves that unfurl, and the fact that it's very difficult to oversteep this tea.
Overall, this is a very good Milk Oolong variety and has the sought after characteristic milky smooth mouthfeel and fresh yet almost subtly sweet flavor. This one feels like it has a mild level of caffeine, and is a favorite choice for an afternoon pick-me-up tea. It does have a higher price tag than some other teas, but it's well-known that proper Milk Oolongs are in higher demand due to the limited amount capable of being produced. If you have not yet tried a Milk Oolong, you can't go wrong with Adagio's variety.
Not the worst, not the best milk oolong I have tried. Not as buttery, a bit more green, but no bitter.
Delightful tea--in both the steeping experience (watching the tea unfurl) and taste (which is like a super smooth green tea). I usually add a little sweetener to my teas, but this was good without anything added. And I was able to steep three times! (190F x 3 min)
This one is a definite departure from the norm for me. Light and reminiscent of dairy.
This is my favorite oolong. It’s got a deeper, more textured flavor than the more green oolongs, but it is still light and floral. I personally like it with a touch of sugar (which I’m sure is sacrilege) but it really does not need it. You also get several brews out of leaves. A wonderful tea.
Not very good. I did not enjoy this tea at all. Not milky or creamy at all.
I cant believe how sweet this is. Its a light flavor like a light green tea. I'm going to try multiple steeps
A note: if you buy a bigger container of this it does NOT take much. These little nuggets unfurl to like 5+ times their original size. The flavor is mild and lovely, with a creamy, roasty-toasty flavor. This is a fab tea for with a meal!
This was my first time trying an oolong tea. While drinking my first cup, I couldn't really tell it apart from a green tea. It was smooth, there was no grassiness and as it cooled there was a pleasant buttery feel, maybe that's where the 'milky' flavor comes in. The resteeped cup was wonderfully smooth. Definitely even better than the first. The flavor is a bit subtle for this tea. There's a light, fun flavor hidden in the aftertaste that reminds me of the slight grape in silver sprout.
This was a great tea. I got 3 steeps out of my leaves.
I was surprised at how little there was in my package today, but I knew that the leaves would unfurl, and they did, absolutely beautifully, revealing some hidden stems, which totally amazed me. I brewed this up at 190 degrees for just under 3 minutes. This tea was very mild, just a little bit creamy/buttery. I also got floral notes, which I think no one else in the communitea seemed to get. I brewed this up for a second cup and it was quite similar to the first. Nice enough, gentle, relaxing cup, very easy on the senses but that said, I don't really want to have more of this, my preference is for a bit more of a complex flavor. I can see this being a nice option for someone who wants a nice, relaxing, cup but I guess I was hoping for a bit more...
This doesn't taste like a black tea, nor does it taste like a green tea. Kind of a cross between the two, but whichever way, it definitely tastes like I have cream in my cup, even though I don't. It's very light and an easy sip with zero astringency. I sweetened with a touch of Stevia.
I really enjoyed this one. I'm surprised how such a small amount of tea can blossom. It has a wonderful bright, fresh grass taste, which was more pronounced in the second brew. I enjoyed the second brew more than the first. For an oolong I find this one siding closer to a green tea than a black tea. It's truly an enjoyable tea.
This is a very delicate, light oolong. It has a slight green flavor, but it’s not unpleasant. It’s a very smooth tea, with a slight buttery, floral taste. I expected it to be a little stronger; even a second steep didn’t produce the hearty oolong flavors I was expecting. It’s a good tea, just light.
Another delicious tea, I usually don't care for oolong but this one was mild, not bitter and was just wonderful
This tea has a creamy, buttery taste with a mild vegital/floral nuance. It has a wonderfully smooth mouthfeel and almost a coconut aftertaste. This tea, at least my sample, was very weak - light colored brew, very slight flavor overall, even when brewing 1.5 tsp per 8 ounces. It held up to 4 brews without much loss of flavor, but it was weak. Increased brewing time and temp helped, but not much.
I vastly prefer a lower quality Fiujan (likely aromatized) milk oolong that I purchase from another vendor for 8 times less. (I also preferred their cheaper tea to a high quality Taiwanese milk oolong from another vendor, to be honest.) Of the 20 oolongs I have tried in the last few weeks, (half of them from Adagio, half of them unflavoured) this is my least favorite and the most disappointing oolong, as it didn't even taste like tea. Maybe I had a bad batch, maybe it didn't do well in my kettle. But based on my limited experience, I would seek another vendor if you want a tasty milk oolong.
