What a nice oolong <3 A nice mellow round flavor! Not too swampy, just the right level of toasty niceness!
An oolong tea prized for its inherent cream and butter notes. Lower quality versions enhance these notes through aromatization. Ours is a true Milk Oolong, with slightly roasted leaves that yield a light-bodied cup with sweet buttery texture and delicate floral aroma.

What a nice oolong <3 A nice mellow round flavor! Not too swampy, just the right level of toasty niceness!
This is closer to a toasty green tea than an oolong in my opinion, but either way it's delicious! It has an almost butter note that comes through in the aftertaste that's really good!
Tried as a CommuniTEA sample. Tastes like am extremely light green tea to me. It wasn't grassy and was almost too mild in flavor, a bit bland.
This was a very nice smooth tea. It had a slight grassy taste - not bad, I just prefer more flavor in my tea. I had 3.95g of lovely balls. I brewed at 195 for 3 minutes - and had a full basket of leaves by the 3rd steep.
I would rate this a 3.5 but I'll round up out of respect for green tea lovers. I myself am not the best judge of green tea since its not what my taste buds prefer. This tasted more like a green tea to me with very little of that roasty oolong taste that I normally relate to oolongs. It wasn't bad, but not at the top of my favorites list either. I do understand what is meant by the buttery or velvety mouthfeel which became more pronounced on the second and third steeps. It was just too vegetal to me but I was definitely glad I was able to experience it.
Delightful tea. I enjoyed with and without sweetener. Pale green color. Buttery and creamy taste. I added a bit of honey and a little Carmel macchiato milk froth. Delicious.
Very nice; a buttery taste and feel with a nice floral scent.
Today's CommuniTea packet was milk oolong. It's a lot of fun watching the tightly rolled leaves unfurl. Oolong tea straddles black and green teas in processing, and this one is more on the green end of the spectrum, though not too grassy. Very smooth. Brewed 12 ounces of 190-degree water for two and a half minutes.
This tea has a grassy aroma, with the slightest hints of floral notes. I steeped the tea for about 3 minutes. The taste is very vegetal, similar to green tea. But it was very smooth and not bitter. A good cup of tea!
I loved the light creamy flavor of the Milk Oolong tea! Perfection!
I am a huge fan of oolongs and some of the most enjoyable teas for me are the 'milk' oolongs. I only subtract one star here because the flavor lacks some of the unctuousness and depth of other high end 'milk' oolongs I have tried. This tea brews into a silky liquor with a light fruity flavor. A treat to re-steep.
Reminds me of my favorite gunpowder tea but with even more buttery smoothness. A win in my book!
A surprisingly delicious tea. It's smooth and buttery; before adding light agave, there was a hint of creaminess underneath, slightly tamped down by mild grassiness. With the addition of a little agave, it helped to boost that natural sweetness and cream note. Very enjoyable.
I've steeped this tea 3 times and every time was just as flavorful. I didn't add anything to it and it was definitely buttery but more grassy than floral. Really enjoyed it!
I enjoyed drinking all 3 steeps of this tea without any additives. It has a delicate, pleasant taste, but it did not taste as buttery as some other green teas I have tasted. I steeped at 195 degrees for 3 minutes each time.
Please consider this review with a grain of salt. I generally tend to prefer darker, more mineral oolongs. Lighter, less oxidized ones like this milk oolong I tried through the CommuniTEA can sometimes lean too green for my taste. To be fair, my lack of enthusiasm for this tea may be the result of a too heavy-handed brewing process on the first steep. After approximately 2 minutes, I thought, at 190F, the resulting liquor rather vegetal, and yes, buttery, a little reminiscent of buttered greens. This is not a flavor I'm generally fond of in tea. Yet, it's not so offensive that I can't finish the cup, and I'm even willing to give the tea another chance. Subsequent steeps (two, in fact), more carefully timed, yield a tea more palatable to me. They are still somewhat buttery, and yes, vegetal, but there are also subtle floral notes that I can appreciate. Still, the first impression of this tea lingers, and I can't quite make myself enjoy it. Though I'm sure it's a high quality example of what it's supposed to be, it is not a tea for me.
Loved this!! The buttery flavor was deliciously unexpected. Even after reading the description I couldn't imagine it. Now I can't forget it. Added it to my next Communitea shipment. Brewed per instructions. Definitely good for multiple infusions. A wonderful tea for sipping throughout the afternoon.
When I opened the CommuniTea pack I did smell the grassiness of it. It was good. I did not taste the butter as I read others have. Delicate for sure and earthy. It was nice but not sure if I would buy it.
What a beautiful tea from start to finish! This is a special tea to make time for, to sit and enjoy. I do not own a Yixing teapot, but with a Gong Fu style brew I was able to get multiple steeps with layers of flavor in each steep. This gorgeous tea tries to disguise itself as a white tea in color, but stands strong having flavors of a lightly toasted oolong, and flows smoothly with a creamy buttery smooth finish. The aroma is somewhat floral. I was able to detect the sweet and gentle honeysuckle along with the lightly roasted finish during my tea session. Golden Lily is a fitting name for such a lovely tea. I enjoyed this oolong so much and plan to add this to my cart soon for my next order! steeped @195 Gung Fu brew 4-5 steeps for 45 min-1 min
This is a delicious oolong. The leaves unfurled in my steeping basket and the tea was a lovely pale yellow color. I will consider this a special occasion buy since it is more expensive than another oolong tea. I will put it on my wishlist.
I got this in the CommuniTEA box, and since I generally really like oolongs, I was excited to try it. The tea was tightly, and I love watching it unfurl as it brews. I brewed it at 195 for 2.5 minutes. I added just a touch of raw sugar to lift the flavors. Slightly grassiness of oolongs, with just that hit of creaminess the description claims. A very warm and relaxing cuppa.
This oolong is light and simple with vegetal flavors. I found this tea a bit lackluster... I was hoping for a bit more complexity.
This is an awesome oolong perfect for multiple steeps. It has a creamy, buttery mouthfeel and taste. There is a hint of oxidation, but it is very mild, although it increases on the second steep. The floral notes are minor as well, so if you fear the floral, this would be a good choice. What more can I say; this is a high quality oolong that won’t disappoint! Happy Sipping!
This is a very nice and smooth tea. Just what I needed on a very cold day.
This had very little flavor aside from a slightly bitter aftertaste. I was quite surprised as I’ve like all the other oolong teas I’ve tried.
Very tightly rolled dark-green tea leaves unfurl into a massive amount of tea. They seem to keep relaxing and grow bigger with every steep. The first taste is straw-like, moving towards some roasted nuttiness as it cools. I made three steeps, but it may have been good for more.
Taste = grassy, nutty, butter. Balled leaves that unfurl. Worth a try, would recommend to all.
My first milk oolong. I like this style better than other oolongs I've tried. It's a smooth cup with plenty of flavor. Definitely has that buttery quality other reviews describe. :)
This site has opened my pallet to many different types of tea that I wouldn't have otherwise tried on my own. This one is no exception. It's very light with a bit of creaminess to it. What a wonderful tea.
This is an absolutely lovely oolong. I'm always delighted by CommuniTEA portions that come tightly-rolled - it's the little things! I steeped at 195° for a little over two minutes, as recommended, and the resulting tea was not a super strong one, but an absolutely delicious cup to sip on a chilly morning! Looking forward to a second and third steep!
This is the first time I think I am trying this oolong. I followed brewing instructions and thought it was light in color and flavor. Beautiful leaves and they needed additional time to open up fully. So, I gave it more time and the result was a smooth, silky, light cup of tea.
Delicious, light, vegetal and buttery tea. Very good milk oolong. A tea to savor.
This is a delicate tea that is easy to drink. A lot like a green tea but much smoother and less grassy.
I had never heard of a Milk Oolong before. This one certainly lives up to the description - it's smooth and creamy, and I do think it gives a buttery texture. The flavour was calming and enjoyable - a little straw-like at first, but then became more smooth and nutty as it went from hot to warm. And not for nothing, I enjoyed the zenlike experience of watching the leaves unfurl in my glass diffuser. What a lovely way to start the morning.
I'm an oolong girl, and I don't think the double O gets the attention it deserves! That being said, my palate did not discern anything overly remarkable about this oolong. I found it to be smooth and pleasant, with just a tad bit of grassiness. I did not get the taste of butter as others did, but I did notice some astringency coming through. However, as it cooled down, I noticed a sweetness to the tea. It's a good tea. I would drink it again, even though I normally prefer flavored oolong, like Adagio's vanilla or almond oolong teas.
In the bag: Two dozen tightly rolled balls of green tea. Each ball has a mix of colors ranging from yellow-green to dark green. The balls also range in size and shape - some are small and spherical while others are larger and gnarly.
On the nose (pre-steep): A musty, slightly grassy scent. Similar to that of green tea, though the grass here is heartier and more vegetal. No sugar. Medium intensity.
On the nose (post-steep): Scent is similar to pre-steep. A hint of butter has joined in. Unlike with greens, the grassy note here has retained the musty quality at this stage.
On the tongue: As others have noted, cream and butter flavors have joined the hearty grass. Also, a buttery, coating mouth feel. Only the barest hint of astringency.
Opinion: A pleasant tea to be studied and savored, not quaffed. Layers of complexity offer subtle notes when contemplated. That said, the flavors here are not my favorite. I'm not the biggest fan of naked greens, so this could just be my personal taste.
Preparation: First steep 3 minutes, second steep 4.5 minutes, final steep six minutes. Each @ 195 ℉, no sweetener.
This was a surprising cup of tea. The buttery flavor really came through. Under that was a light vegetal flavor. I really enjoyed the unique taste.
Light buttery mouthfeel, slightly astringent/minerally/vegetal, but very yummy. I steeped once today and will enjoy a second steep tomorrow💜
UPDATED from 1/26/21: Lovely fresh aroma emits from the tightly curled balls of leaves. Steeping allows the leaves to unfurl elegantly like dancers. The golden color reveals a flavor that is buttery smooth and rich. Like a geisha dancing with a fan, she is delicate - yet strong and graceful. Compelling and enticing, she graciously serves you, with a soothingly soft, discreet smile. With each additional steep, she sweetly opens more and more, like a flower revealing her inner beauty. She has much to give, so sit quietly and allow the calmness to fill you. (Multiple steeps 3 mins @195ºF).
A tad pricey but worth it. Light with a sweet butter cream taste. Delicious!
Delicious with a very subtle sweet flavor. Very smooth tea! Think I might need to steep it longer to pull more flavor out next time
This Oolong is just ok, the flavor is very light and not as smooth as I’m used to with a milk oolong.
I find that I need to use more tea to water ratio for this tea. I was used to an artificial milk oolong. This tea is also amazing iced, I just put the tea in water and sip, adding more water as the day goes on. The leaves are not hard to filter through your lips and they tend to stay at the bottom.
Interesting Oolong. I really did not expect the “milk” flavor it has. I was surprised and happy with the choice.
A nice and solid oolong. Got 3 steeps out of it and some of a fourth. Started with a lower temp and worked my way up.
This is a lovely subtle oolong. Adagio describes this as buttery, but I don't get that. To me it tastes more of apricot and honeysuckle with a bright citrusy aftertaste at the back of the palate. There's no bitterness and repeated steeps reveal more complicated notes.
Another great tea for the mornings, if I don’t feel like coffee, this is my go to.
Huge fan of this tea. I have been more of a green fan than a black tea fan and this one is a nice gateway between the two. Not too floral for me. Slightly buttery, maybe creamy? But absolutely smooth. Great one to keep on hand.
I was really hoping to get a milky very milky tea. Something that has the aroma of sweet milk foam with a bit of green tea. However, this is just a very potent green tea which is good but it's not milky. The milkiness is barely there. I should have ordered a sample first before the full size. Ogenenui cvetok milk oolong is far far better.
I will admit - I am easily amused. I enjoyed watching the tightly rolled pearls of this tea unfurl into full sized leaves. The flavor is very smooth and slightly vegetal, but not strongly. The color is a very pretty pale gold. So pale, that you might think it is weak. It's not! A very delicate and delightful oolong!
