Dec '24: I don't know what I was talking about; liked it a lot. Have liked other ‘buttery’ oolongs more but it’s floral and lovely.
I will try it, but I know from reading these that it's not my thing
An oolong tea prized for its inherent cream and butter notes. Lower quality versions enhance these notes through aromatization. Ours is a true Milk Oolong, with slightly roasted leaves that yield a light-bodied cup with sweet buttery texture and delicate floral aroma.

I really loved this oolong. It held up for multiple steeps and the flavor shifted and grew with each steep. I loved watching the leaves open and enjoyed sipping the buttery, smooth tea all day.
It is always fun watching the tiny balled leaves unfurl. This is a nice oolong, it does have a floral taste. I don't really love it. I do appreciate it.
This was very light in color so I did not expect much flavor from it. I was pleasantly surprised at the mildly sweet and delicate flavor as I sipped. I didn't detect any bitterness or grassiness at all in my portion.
CommuniTea sample: 2 min @ 195 F. Milk Oolong was one of my introductory teas to nicer teas, more than just bagged stuff, so it has some nostalgia for me. It’s sweet and creamy, and it’s light for an oolong. A lot of very delicate notes that come out, giving some warm, slightly vegetal bitter hints but it feels like it was sweetened with powdered milk, really living up to it’s name in both taste and texture! I also think it could be described kind of as raw nuts in flavor, how they can have some bitter, fatty, buttery notes but also some sweet creaminess! The sweetness also reminds me of peaches and cream, from the aroma and the milky notes.
A nice mild oolong tea. Floral and sweet notes. I really enjoyed this one.
I generally don’t go for this type of tea. It is too grassy for me.
I just got into oolong, and this one was delicious but did not really taste that original. I would easily replace with another oolong
It was a good cup. Not my favorite, not mind blowing but I found it tasty enough. It also seemed like a flavor that would grow on a person given a couple of cups.
If you're an oolong fan, you need to try this tea. It has a wonderfully milky-floral flavor and aroma!
Fantastic as far as milk oolongs go and probably my favorite I’ve tried. Very mellow and smooth mouthfeel. But I also prefer a more mineral Chinese restaurant type oolong tea.
Super smooth. Really does have a "milky" quality to it. Not as earthy as other oolongs I have had. Really good for high noon tea.
Great and tasty oolong tea! Highly recommend. Huge leaves. Can steep couple times, delicate taste. 10 out of 10
A very pleasant tea, but not very flavorful. No bitterness though which is a plus. Light in color. I tried it with and without milk and sugar. Even with the milk and sugar though, not much flavor. Will update after trying it with more tea leaves.
Has a special place in my heart. So smooth, so creamy, so soothing. I've managed to get 3 good steeps out of a serving. By the forth it was just hot water with a hint of something else.
Not as buttery smelling as the marriage freres version. Pleasant and smooth mouthfeel.
I was disappointed in this tea.
I steeped the tea for 2 minutes and that may have contributed to the strong vegetal aftertaste of the tea (will try 1 minute on second steeping). It also had a strong floral aroma when I initially drank it and I don't care for floral teas as they tend to upset my stomach (no Idea why).
I didn't taste any of the milk or cream flavors other people mentioned. I haven't given up on the tea though because it may improve if I steep it less (I prefer weaker teas) and it's happened in the past that I came to like a tea I initially had doubts about.
These are my initial impressions of Milk Oolong.
Buttery texture, mild flavor. Greener than I prefer but not grassy. Just not really my style. Curious if the texture will come through in a blend with black tea.
I like a good oolong! This tea is yummy and gentle. The rolled leaves that open are very pretty. I would consider it mild but its delicious.
Decent, light oolong. It's one of those for me that I would drink if offered or because I had around, but wouldn't necessarily search for in every tea shop I visited.
Fantastically smooth buttery flavor. Great when steeped multiple times. This is currently my favorite tea
Good tasting tea and value for the price
Has become a recent favorite from Adagios (non masters) green tea lines. I steep it for around 2-3 minutes and that does the trick.
I have only consistently drank one other type of oolong tea and this is the first time I bought a different kind. I enjoyed it a lot and am happy I decided to try a new oolong!
I don't get any milk or buttery taste, but it is very, very smooth with almost a thick mouthfeel. Delicate and understated flavor. Brewed gong fu style, boiling, 30 second steeps.
This is a very nice green oolong. I wouldn’t describe it as milky but it tasted lightly floral and lightly mineral. I enjoyed it hot and as a cold brew.
Great oolong. It kind of tastes like it actually has milk in it
This has a very soft and gentle, non-grassy flavor. No astringency. Great aroma. Even better on the second steep.
Brothy. Green. Thick. Wonderful. This Oolong is great for any palette. A heavier taste and texture than I was used to but it won me over. Complex flavor that you will want more of!
A fantastic milk oolong with a lovely sweet, creamy flavor. Brewed in gong fu style, increasing the time and temperature over multiple infusions, the flavors develop with each steep in a wonderful way.
Another very smooth and delicious tea. Not bitter or over-powering. Will definitely reorder. Probably one of my new favorites.
One of the smoothest oolongs I have tasted yet. The leaves gently unfurl for a beautiful high quality cup. Try it you won’t be disappointed!
If you love Oolong, this tea is for you. Every sip is delightful and rich.
So good! You can smell the floral, subtly sweet fragrance straight out of the box; the flavor complexities really come out on the first steep especially. Probably my favorite oolong tea I've tried from Adagio thus far. (Though I recently bought the Oolong Teas sampler, so we'll see how it lives up to all the others!)
After trying it, I was genuinely shocked at how much it tasted like it had milk in it. Tastes surprisingly great, as someone who does not enjoy milk/cream in their tea.
Another splendid oolong! Compared to others, this is less floral and more malty; hints of chocolate and an almost barley or roasted barley malt flavor, both to the nose and the entirety of the sip. Back end of my sipping gives way to slightly crisp, subtle mineral tastes; the color is pale, nearly clear. The leaves unfurl very slowly, and are reticent to give all their flavor to one cup, lending for at least two steeps. I assume this oolong could be used to make milk tea, but there is a subtlety, a gentleness, a smooth, almost milky quality to the taste itself. Not like pouring yourself a cup of milk fresh from the fridge. It almost tastes like milk smells if that makes any sense? What a wonderful tea. You would not expect these flavors just from smelling the bag. Maybe it's milk oolong because it's as smooth and balanced as a cup of milk on the palette? I don't know, but I am really impressed. This will make a perfect morning cup with just about any breakfast you can think of.
PS: no milk or sugar in this cup, drank simple. It didn't really need either, but will try a stronger brew for some proper milk tea another time.
Was expecting more of a wow-factor from this, but it... Is pretty straightforward? Smooth-ish flavor.
I love oolong teas and I love interesting teas, and this tea is a very interesting oolong. The leaves smell fresh and grassy like a late spring day, while the brewed cup has that earthy aroma I come to expect from oolong. The flavor of this tea however, is an interesting one. It has the earthy flavors of oolong, but accompanied with a milky, buttery taste that reminds me of having tea with buttered toast. Which isn't bad at all, in fact, I think it's quite a delicious tea.
This has become my back up milk oolong. It's not as creamy and sweet as others I've had. But it's a solid B
It is a nice oolong that I would buy again... as an oolong. I have had very beautiful true sweet and milky milk oolong from Taiwan and this did not even come close to that flavor. On that factor I was disappointed. It therefore earned a 4 star review as a milk oolong from me.
I am an Oolong lover and this is one of my favorite teas. It has a unique smooth buttery and nutty flavor. It’s a special tea for sure. Highly recommended!
Bought this when my favorite, AliShan. was on back order. I drink this one both hot and cold. It is a smooth green oolong-brewed it is a nice pale golden color- but the flavor is not as nice nor complex as the Alishan. It does not seem to tolerate as many steepings either. I can get 2 steepings before this one loses its smooth flavor. I will keep this in my rotation. Good deal on sale!
This oolong is absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed it on its own, but it's even better as a latte. The natural milky notes heighten the creamy deliciousness. Very tasty!
I bought this tea on a whim because it was on sale and fell in love instantly. It's straight up delicious. Sweet and rich, but still light in the sense that it's not bitter or earthy. I love the natural creaminess without adding any actual dairy.
The leaves expand a LOT, since they're the kind that's rolled up. Opening the pot at the end and seeing how much larger they've gotten is always kind of funny, and cleaning the strainer easier than with teas where the leaves are small little strands that stick to everything.
I like the mild taste of this tea upon first sip, which seems very smooth. However, if I drink it all day it irritates my throat a bit. It is pleasing to see the leaves unfurl.
After brewing this tea a few times now, multiple infusions each, I have to say that it’s the worst milk oolong I’ve had. It’s more like a straight green tea, without the milk or buttery notes that one expects in a milk oolong.
I didn't love this one. It wasn't terrible, but at first sip, it just seemed weird in a way that I couldn't really even identify. It was sort of a toasty taste. Not really creamy or buttery, but it reminded me a bit of plain crackers or something of that nature. Maybe even a bit of hay. It kind of had that dried grassy feel to it.
I added sugar after a couple of sips, and that really helped. The sweetness really brought out the florals, and that was much better. I'd probably give it a 3 or 4 after sweetening, but I'm sticking with the lower star rating for my review because the tea itself was a little disappointing. The florals were the only thing I enjoyed, and there are better florals out there. (Summer Rose and Jasmine Silver Needle? ❤️ Love both of those.)
I just didn't get any of the flavors I was expecting or hoping for out of this one.
as a new tea drinker, i was intrigued by the flavor description, but found the actual experience to be a little too subtle to really enjoy. nevertheless, makes a very smooth cup of tea
This is the first oolong tea I've tried before and it was a GREAT way to introduce myself to it. There's a smooth, milky flavor just as described, that I really enjoyed. I don't know if it's blasphemy to do so, but I added a bit of soy milk and it really boosted the buttery notes too. I'm definitely reordering when I run out.
I finally get to try this tea which has eluded me for some time (even when I did twelve consecutive months of Communitea)! I love the light and buttery taste which produced a yellow color. The pellets of leaves are large enough to where you don't want to put too much in the mesh cup. I bought a sample on the perfect opportunity, but probably will stick to my other favorites due to the price. It is a gem to drink.
my go to tea!
not too strong not too light,
lasts for several steeps.
