A very good, mellow tea I could see having with anyone, with or without a meal.
An oolong tea from the misty mountains of Anxi County in the Fujian region of China, with floral notes of honeysuckle and osmanthus.

A very good, mellow tea I could see having with anyone, with or without a meal.
I did not know what to expect from my first straight oolong. It had a straw-like scent dry, in the CommuniTea packet, but the minute it was in the water it was overwhelmingly floral.
The flavor of the 1st steep had a strong floral taste, I added some honey to it, which helped a bit.
I gave it anther go and steeped a 2nd time. It still had a strong floral scent, but not as strong as the 1st steep - this time I tried a sweetener.
The 3rd steep was my favorite. The floral scent was down to accent-level, noticeable but not near as powerful as before - a natural sweetness finally got to show off, which I helped along with a bit of sugar.
If I could steep to the 3rd level immediately that'd be great, but the first two steeps, while they had a floral scent I enjoyed, it wasn't my favorite thing to drink.
Floral, light, and tasty. Reminds me of the honeysuckle bushes on my street, a wonderful reminder of warm days while it's cold without being overly summery.
This had a slight green tea taste, and some astringency. Sugar helped tone down both of those flavors. A mild honey flavor is also present. A second steep held up as well, with less of the green flavor.
Everything about it made me nauseous. The smell, the taste. Dumped sugar in it and it still made me gag. Definitely a nope for me.
I'm usually a dark, black, and smack in your face type of tea lover. But this tea surprised me how much I enjoyed it. It's light and the floral notes were a very pleasant change. This tea is definitely going to be a future purchase for me.
Right up front, there's a floral note to this that reminds me vaguely of jasmine, but it's not quite the same. I see other reviewers mentioning honeysuckle, but I don't have the familiarity to place that label on it. Underneath, there's a gentle green note--fresh, not quite grassy, but definitely green. I have this mental image of biting into the leaf of a plant after chewing on the flower.
But, like, in a good way. It's cohesive and relaxing, definitely a cup to savor rather than one to drink while at work trying to churn through a project.
I love a good silky oolong! The flavors were lovely, the aroma grassy and mild. Perfect to balance all the heavy and sweet flavors this month.
As soon as I opened the lid when it was done steeping I noticed a light golden liquid, and a wonderful aroma wafted up that told me this was going to be a wonderful cup! For me, an undeniable honeysuckle scent was the strongest aspect of the aroma-- took me right back in time to being a kid lying in the grass next to my grandma's honeysuckle plants! The taste is a bit more savory, the floral softness weaves in and out, a tiny bit nutty (almost like sesame?), with a little bit of a buttered steamed vegetal quality (not grassy) that reminded me of a pouchong. I tasted a slight mineral quality with very light astringency, that made it sort of crisp and soft at the same time. The tea became more floral once cool. I got a little rushed through my second steep and didn't quite get to give it the attention I wanted to, and would love to try for a relaxed third steep on this one someday. Though not for everyone, I'm seriously a little obsessed with today's tea and I'll be ordering some in the Spring. (1st steep 2.5 mins @190º; 2nd 3.5 mins)
A delightfully soothing cup. Lightly floral and with an overtone of malt. Gets better with each steep.
Definitely has a pleasant aroma but a little too floral for me in taste
Both Mr. Fusion and I were floored by how good this oolong tea is. He described the flavor as 'the feeling of being a third-grader in April and looking forward to summer break', and I couldn't have said it better myself. I actually put one of the (post-steep!) whole leaves in my mouth out of curiosity, and while it wasn't edible like the ali shan was, it left a pleasant grapefruit-rind clean astringency in my mouth that I enjoyed quite a bit. I think this tea might be one of the best values in the entire Adagio catalog! (3 mins @ 195 F, no additions for me on the first steep/a few chunks of rock sugar for Mr. Fusion on the second)
This is a fantastic and smooth oolong! It’s earthy, got a wonderful mouthful, and is great in a second steep!
I like oolongs, but this one was a little light. I liked it though because it reminded me of a tea I used to get at a Chinese restaurant growing up. I like the smell more than the taste once brewed. I can see this as an all day sipper. It was very pleasant, but not one I would buy. Tasted as part of The CommuniTea.
Part of the communiTEA experience. A light floral tea. This one was nice but wasn't anything special for me.
This tea is a pure delight! It's fun to watch steep and tastes like heaven.
This makes a lovely cup of tea! A glass teapot or infuser would be extra special to watch the leaves unfurl. 3 minutes is right on the money, making a beautiful golden brew. It smells a little grassy and earthy, but the taste is surprisingly light and quite floral. It carries its own sweetness and makes for a smooth, pleasant sip. This is a tea you want to take your time with, perfect for idly gazing out the window or soaking in a warm bath. Second steep was just as good as the first.
Decent flavor,
Palatable cup.
Drank before I realized I was actually drinking it, so it must be better than I thought
This tea was lovely to watch as it stepped, you could see the leaves unfolding and 'growing' right before your eyes. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste- I had expected it to be like a green tea in having a floral taste, but it was also very light and almost delicate. I actually enjoyed sipping it. Even the floral taste was pleasant and not cloying like I sometimes find with flowery teas. I have to admit that I was a little bit disappointed in the second steep, it was weak and I found it wasn't memorable, but all in all this was a very nice oolong
This tea is really lovely. It has a wonderful floral, almost jasmine like aroma. Mild in flavor, no sweetner needed.
I didn't have high hopes for this, I expected it to be grassy, but it is delightfully floral! It's smooth and light - very enjoyable.
Golden Flower is an excellent tea! A light colored delicate oolong tea. It has mild flowery fragrance and taste.
Lovely original tea that unfurled their magic as they danced in my cup. Lovely for. I added nothing and got a fruity kind of nutty taste. Quite different. Loved it. Different than what I expected
The flavor felt very much like a standard green tea with a hint of oolong flavor to it. I didn't pick up on any of the subtle flavors, but I'm very used to bold, strong flavors.
Steeps to a lovely golden color and has a smooth, earthy flavor with a hint of the grassiness more common in greens. Great for multiple steeps and very enjoyable.
fragrant and flavorful, sweet and somewhat grassy. Tiny, tight rolled leaves in the CommuniTea packet. I did use a little Honey. Great intro to tge world of Oolong for a beginner. I sampled this Tea as part of the CommuniTEA December box.
I really enjoyed this oolong. Thew tightly rolled leaves expanded so much more than I expected, it was fun to watch. The flavor when hot was had a stronger straw and mineral flavor that mellowed out as it cooled and more sweetness came forward. It makes for a great tea for multiple steeps.
The smell of this tea is like a peaceful moment. A clear and pale brew, the taste is toasty and soothing.
A great CommuniTEA pick! This is a light, aromatic oolong and brews up with vegetal and floral notes plus a hint of grass. It resteeps very well. And if you're someone who likes watching little rolled leaf pellets unfurl, this will be a treat--these leaves make quite a dramatic change!
Love the performance teas, the tiny rolled leaves the unfurl in a big way. The flavor in this one is delicate. Its smooth and doesnt really need sugar.
My first time (to my knowledge) trying this tea was in my Community tea package. I decided to steep it at slightly longer than 2 minutes, but under 3 minutes. Before adding any sweeter I took my first sip and found it doesn’t need any. My second cup I tried a bit of rock sugar and could taste notes I had not notice before of something floral and almost fruity. This would be a great blend alone or with something light like a hint of peach or apple.
Very light and sweet. I enjoyed this tea and was happy to have a chance to try it in the communiTEA.
I really enjoyed the first and second pot of this that I made. A lovely and soft green tasting oolong.
Smooth, fragrant and naturally sweet. Slight smokiness, but for the most part, just a clean tea flavor.
this was a great tea to sample i would buy this again if i wanted a oolong tea to drink
Its real good but tastes like jasmine green tea that I've had in Chinese restaurants. Instead of an oolong. I will steep it a couple more times to see how it changes. I can already tell this is one i will be buying in bulk.
My favorite sips of this tea were in my first steep while it was hot. I got the floral, honey, and smoothness. The second cup I overstepped by accident, so that is my bad there. I am just starting to appreciate unflavored oolongs so I'm excited to try others! 2 @ 190
I love this tea. This Golden Flower Oolong reminded me of Ali shan tea (High-mountain tea) from Taiwan. Since Ali shan is quite pricy, this one could be good alternative.
This is lovely! Nice smooth subtle flavor that is reminiscent of a green tea but without any grassy taste. Delightful!
Tiny compressed rolled tea leaves were seen in my communiTEA packet this morning. At 1 min 30 sec into the steep, the leaves started unfurling and doing their dance. Most had fallen to the steeper bottom and turned the water a stately golden color at the two minute mark. It was quite the sight to see!
When hot, a pleasant, slightly mineral, crisp straw-like flavor was noted. When warm, floral and nutty flavors were moderate. This oolong had a heavier bodied creamy mouthfeel than most oolongs I’ve tasted. Not my favorite, but definitely drinkable.
The second steep was really fun to watch. All of the leaves were fully opened and doing a waltz right before my eyes! Pleasant vegetal flavors were noted with mild zings on the tongue at the end. This one was better tasting on the second infusion. I have no reason reason to believe that it wouldn’t up to at least three steeps. (1st steep: 2 mins/Subsequent steeps: 1 min 30 secs @ 190ºF, no sugar)
This is a beautiful Oolong tea. It brews up so nicely, and the taste is so subtle and amazing
I prefer more complex teas with plenty of flavors, however this was a nice and smooth one. No trace of bitterness, not overly herbal and overall a relaxing tea. It always had a bit of a creamy flavor before I put my usual cream in.
I love oolong teas! If you like oolong, Golden Flower is a little on the delicate side yet has a hint of sweetness! For me, a perfect morning cuppa tea, very calming
I don’t care for this type of tea. Much too grassy/earthy for my taste.
While I really like Oolong, I found this tea to be a bit flat and bland. But if you like earthy, simple, no-frills tea, you might still like this.
This tea is a delight for all the senses. Pouring it out of the packet, the bright, tightly-rolled leaves chime like rain drops into the bottom of the glass pot. They jostle about, rolling around looking for the best spot to await the water. A less than boiling temperature poured over them makes them each unfold into a full leaf of a size that doesn't seem possible from the tiny beads they started as. It's always a joy to watch this unfurling as they release their fragrance. The sweet, floral aroma rises immediately and is thoroughly enjoyable with the smooth, buttery-soft velvet tea of a clear, bright yellow. A second infusion had a slightly less floral aroma but was still very enjoyable. This is a delightful oolong.
Silky mouthfeel, lightly floral, and strong astringency. On the second brew, I got more earthiness but the astringency lingered.
I really enjoyed the flavor of this tea. I will definitely purchase it again.
Brews a clear straw color. Expands maybe 5x as might be expected. I like how there aren't any roasted mineral flavors, and that the floral essence is present but not overwhelming. The mouthfeel seems slick almost oily... not a good or bad thing, just noteworthy. Kinda reminds me of Milk Oolong but without the high price tag.
This has a lovely aroma and taste is mild. Will order again.
