This is a fantastic oolong with hints of sweetness, toasted notes, not really bitter at all. It really strikes a good balance between some of the very green oolongs and black teas. This is a tea I am never going to be without.
This Shui Xian is a high fired, medium grade oolong with a rich-tasting amber cup and nuances of minerals, apricots and spice.

Slightly pungent with a smooth finish. Leaves look a bit twiggy. Not my favorite, but a solid oolong.
a most excellent tea! we really enjoyed the toasty and mineral notes in this tea, I will buy more of it to keep on hand.
My daughter really enjoys the minerally aspect of it, but it can be a little offputting to me if I'm not in the right mood.
A very smooth Oolong with a lasting aftertaste that ligers pleasantly on the lounge. A nice after dinner tea
A very gentle, mild basic tea, not astringent at all, even if overbrewed (oops). Very little sweetening needed, though a few dried blueberries added while brewing really ups the game.
Lovely- light, re-steepable. Perfect for afternoons when you need to push through a project. Tried a sample, and ordering more.
It's *really* good at keeping me awake the entire day, and is my go-to fix for a bad night's sleep entirely for that. I can't really say much for the taste due to my lack of that sense, but it's not bad. It's not great like golden flower, but it's not the worst.
Such a mellow and familiar flavor from most restaurants. Any day or time of the week, it is delicious.
Other than the sample of wuyan ensemble, this is the best oolong Iβve had the privilege to encounter so far.
I really enjoy oolong teas and this one was a good one for me. It had only what I could say is a thicker flavor that rounded out as it cooled slightly, it was pleasant and somewhat earthy. I did four steeps at 191Β° for 1.5 minutes and increased each steep by 15 seconds, decanted into a fairness cup and each steep gave me two full cups from my gongfu set. I will put this on my list of teas to get as I use my stash down.
Ok so this tea makes me sad because I really wanted to like a water sprite tea. I normally love oolongs. I am traveling so water is different here and I don't have a way to check water temp with me so that is why I gave it a 3rd star. 2 stars is not common for me. I got some good earthy notes, some vegetal grassy flavors coming through. Some mineral flavors and distracting from them all on the finish is this bitter taste that I can only describe as a cross between the floral soapy flavor some people dislike and a bitter grapefruit. Which is wild because I like rose teas and grapefruit teas. I hope I get a round 2 with this one soon as these first two steeps did not go well. 2nd steep lost most of the flavor I didn't like, but also lost a bit of the ones I did.
This is a very earthy tea. It really helps me feel settled and relaxed. It has a depth that is very centering. 195F for three minutes.
It smells good in the package. It tastes a little to earthy for me.
Definitely one of my favorites! I drink this often at a friend's house, so was delighted to see it appear in the CommuniTEA. It has a very woodsy flavor that is also very refreshing. Very much enjoying this one!
Update for 5/16/25: Steeped at 200Β° for 4 mins. After years of this tea not agreeing with my taste buds, it finally tasted 'normal' or 'good' to me. I'm sipping it in my Tea Leaf reading cuppa. Maybe the vessel is making it taste better?! Teehehe! This tea holds a strong ROCK-ESQUE flavor and lots of texture, to each sip. Not something I would want in the ol' tea stash...but it's been a taste-venture over the years trying different temps and double steeps to see if I would like this π§ Water Sprite brew.

Updated Review for CommuniTEA Review for 4/17/23, Two Stars: I dislike Fujian Rain even more adamantly, perhaps. But actually..I just held back, last time reviewing--as I thought my palate wasn't refined enough, yet. This is a rare, two star review, from me. Do I need to rinse the leaves? Maybe. I love almost all Oolongs, but not this one. It's odd tasting to me, I just dunno. π€·ββοΈ And the rock taste is a multi-layered bitter vibe of non-enjoyableness.. (unlike other mineral-esque teas, which I like, a lot.) I want to appreciate this 'Water Sprite of the Shimmering Cave rocks,' alas..Not my cup of tea. ππ

July 18th 2022, Three Stars:
Today's CommuniTEA is surely an acquired taste ...However, I, for one have not been able to acquire an affinity for this tea vibe, yet. πππ
A lovely oolong, gorgeous leaves that release amazing aromas of earthy goodness, hints of peach hiding in the depths, it's a wonderful staple tea to keep around!
Itβs ok. Very earthy. Not as smooth as most Oolong teas that I love.
CommuniTEA sample, 2 min @ 195 F. Adagio has some of the best Fujian tea that I've had! I really like dusty, darker teas, and this fits that bill perfectly. It has a natural sweetness in it, I can see where the descriptor says honey, but I found it almost more like caramel. It also is strong in the mineral taste described, very earthy and rocky in a sense, a little bit bitter because of that, but again, that's something that I appreciate. I intend to get as much as I can out of these leaves (four infusions!), and this is a tea that I'm definitely adding to my collection!
I think I prefer green, floral oolongs, so I'm biased, but the tea has an earthy, grassy, leafy, fall foliage flavor to it.
Rich and malty with a mineral taste too. This is a very tasty oolong!
UPDATE 5/16/25: Wow, is this even the same tea? There is a grassiness and earthiness here i hadnt even picked up before. It feels so much more well rounded and complex this time around.
What an interesting tea this was. I smelled faint traces of cocoa and hazelnut when brewed. Not at all bitter, very hearty and earthy, almost like coffee for me with a strong vein of minerality running through
Rich, pleasant tea that stood up to multiple steepings both western and gong-fu style. I used 2g/75ml at 15, 20, 30, 45, 60 seconds and that was just right for me.
This is a really lovely oolong tea, that resembles golden monkey yet is slightly different. Delicious! Thank you for yet another lovely oolong tea!
This is one of my favorites. A nice easy mineral taste with a good finish. An easy brew, and for me, a wonderful afternoon tea.
This is one of my all-time favourite teas! This tea delivers on everything promised in the description and more. It stands up well to 2nd & 3rd steepings, with each subsequent steeping yielding new tasting notes.
Fresh, fruity, floral flavors to it. Very lovely light flavor overall!
I ordered several oolong teas. This one would be on the lighter side, but still very lovely. I'd definitely order it again
Decent oolong tea with a light flavor and nice aroma.
A good solid tea to have after a day of work. Not a strong favorite but certainly a good tea and nothing wrong with it.
Great Tea, smooth flavor with hints of fruit and smoke. I did a quick steep at the appropriate temp to really draw out all of the flavor
My favorite tea of all time. Strong flavors of dried apricots, subtle smokiness and tobacco flavor, with a clean mineral finish
A flavorful oolong with stonefruit and mineral notes. With gong fu brewing of this tea, the mineral notes are tamed and the stonefruit essence shines through more each infusion.
This has smooth, minerally, chocolate malt-like notes when I smell the bag -and- when I brew it. It can be overbrewed so be careful! I like to brew mine a little cooler than recommended, and can get a couple of steeps from it. This is, funny enough, an -excellent- tea to drink on a stormy day. I am going to really, really love this come autumn and winter. Out of the oolongs I have tried so far, this one is easily one of my favorites. Maltier and more... There is a smell that reminds me of the way a very dry wine tastes, but not in a bad way. It almost smells like there are hints of oak wood, and maybe sprouted barley, or something--it's rare to have a tea leaving me speechless and floundering for descriptors. I am really, really digging it. It's a pleasure for all the senses. I use tea in cooking sometimes similar to making a broth for flavor, and other than tea eggs and milk tea, I feel like this might make for a very wild ramen-style broth ingredient, maybe with some soba noodles. (With other seasonings and accoutrements, of course.)
I love it when I find a tea that makes me reconsider how to use it beyond a simple steep and sip. If you're on the fence, what's the harm in trying a sample? Worst case scenario, you get to learn what flavor notes you do and don't like in a brew. Best case? Maybe you decide it's delicious enough to make a Fujian Rain creme brulee. Only time, and you, can tell.
Ps: recommended brewing time about 2.5 minutes, since Adagio hates decimals.
This is one of my favorites. It has a great aroma and pleasant taste
I purchased 3 different oolong teas this summer, looking for a staple iced tea. This was solidly in the middle of the tastings, a nice nutty flavor I like in an oolong, a decent iced tea and just fine hot.
Really nice, every day oolong. Smooth and minerals, just how I like it!
I agree with so many others that this was an Very interesting tea. I also loved the woodsy and very mineral taste . I enjoyed thoroughly without added sweetener.
Before brewing, it does smell kinda fruity. After brewing the more mineral notes come out, but there is still a hint of apricot. Good for multiple steeps-- flavors become more earthy with accents of spice.
I prefer green Oolongs. 2 min @165. I don't get the fruit tasting notes. Smooth, no bitterness. Not something I see myself buying, but I would drink it if I had it.
The team smelled nice and earthy but too acidic on my pallet and even gave me heartburn. Not for me.
I'm new to this tea community. I usually like fruity sweet teas that are herbal, green or white tea. The leaves are so dark. I was expecting it to be more of a black tea flavor of which I'm not a fan. I was pleasantly surprised. Earthy and flavorful. 4/30/24: Still a great tea. It is perfect without any additives. I'm going to steep the leaves one more time with extra hot water for a second cup. cheers.
This is probably not a tea that I would purchase, the earthy mineral taste is a little too much. I have no problem finishing my cup but I am in no hurry to have it again.
I do not care much for the damp grass sense of this tea. But I definitely like the taste of it. The taste as a mild earthiness and hints of floral.
Oolong is my favorite tea in general and this one has such awesome flavor. Itβs a smooth tasting tea that just tastes so good in the morning.
A nice blend of roasty and floral notes. Does ok grandpa and western style, but best in a gaiwan. Do a quick rinse and then start off with about a 20 second brew
Become one of my go to oolongs delicate and mineralic slight white peach note followed by dewy grass and rainwater a very refreshing taste its a delightful oolong i will be purchasing a full size pouch soon
This tea as it mellows and cools becomes a tasty sip. It's a very earthy oolong that has some peach sweetness on its finish. Great by itself, but might be even better as a base tea for blending.
Lovely mineral-taste oolong tea, somewhat similar in character to Da Hong Pao or what Adagio calls Wuyi Ensemble, albeit a bit lighter and with less depth of flavor in my opinion. If you're not a fan of tea tasting like mineral water, this may not be for you- but if you are, or you're curious but not sure you want to invest in the more expensive varieties, it's a lovely inexpensive option to start out.
It's not that great. It doesn't smell all that great and it doesn't taste all that great. I really wanted to like it, but there's just not anything to enjoy about it.
