Formosa Oolong Customer Reviews

A darker oolong tea from Taiwan, formerly known as Formosa (which means 'Beautiful'). Deep raisiny and ripe fruit aroma, autumn 'leafy' note. The lingering flavor and smooth, refreshingly fruity astringency and a lovely introduction to Taiwanese tea.

Great oolong for blending. It is well balanced and smooth

★★★★★

I found the taste a deep, smooth cacophony of green and fruity notes. By far the best oolong I've tried yet !

It's rich, bold, smokey, but also sweet... love oolong teas for health benefits and as a metabolism boosting agent!!!

A good tea. I prefer breakfast teas so this wasn’t my favorite. I still drink it occasionally.

A nice smooth flavor almost fruit like and sweet. A beautiful red brown color tea. Nice little pick me up treat.

This is one of my frequent Adagio purchases. A nice oolong for the price.

★★★★★

This is possibly my favorite oolong tea so far. Steeped for three minutes and there wasn’t an ounce of bitterness. Very smooth and comforting.

★★★★★

Wonderful, this is one of my go to favorites. Everyone should try this.

A nice, toasty, roasted Oolong. Not overly strong and very forgiving for steep time.

Definitely a dark oolong! Nice balance with good sweetness. A little 'heavy' for me, more of a molasses sweetness, where I prefer a honey sweetness. But my wife thought this was great!

Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with oolong tea (especially if it leans closer to the dark side). Having said that, I have always been a fan of formosa oolong. I found this formosa to be a bit lighter than what I usually drink, so extra steeping time was sometimes required. Though not my favorite formosa I have had, I enjoyed every cup I had of this, both hot and cold (it works well for both, depending on what you are looking for). This tea does make for a good milk tea, but be careful not to put too much milk, honey, sugar, etc. as it is a bit lighter than you might expect. All-in-all a good tasting tea, but not as rich as I was expecting.

Bit disappointed by the weak taste of this oolong. Not what I had hoped for.

This tea is the same variety as several others Adagio offers, but is a much lesser grade. Compared to the Hsinchu Oriental Beauty this tea tastes like twigs. I will gladly spend the extra to get the masters tea version of this varietal, either the Hsinchu Oriental Beauty or the Formosa Fancy Bai Hao.

This is a very mellow tea that 3 of us all liked. Steeping time is 3 - 4 minutes after a full boil. The first time we thought it was a little weak. I use 1 tsp of sugar, the other 2 did it with either a little honey or nothing at all and we all liked it.

★★★★★

Very strong flavor. Good evening autumn drink. Would buy again

★★★☆☆

With a darker color and full body, this tea has character and is not afraid to show it.

★★★★★

This is one of the best teas I have tasted from this website! I have bought some of my best oolongs from here. This is second to Formosa Puochong. Still amazing! Great buy!

This tea is really flavorful. It can be somewhat astringent, but the tea is very flavorful. It's sorta earthy, there are some floral hints in there, but overall it's a very enjoyable tea.

★★★★★

Oolongs remain my families favorite teas served hot and this is a very good one. It doesn't even get bitter if you leave leftover tea in the pot overnight. Would recommend to anyone. Delicious and reasonably priced, as well. Nice scent while drinking it. Little kids and adults alike love this tea; never, never bitter. Just spent two weeks in San Diego for a military retirement celebration and I took this tea with me. Got my hostess so hooked on it that I had to leave it with her when I left.

★★★★☆

I love this flavor. Nice and thick and delicious. Smoky but not too much so. Flavorful. Reusable. Strong but not overbearing. I'd order this again for sure. Would also recommend it to others.

★★★★★

Great oolong tea. I love this tea with a bit of honey in it.

★★★★☆

This oolong has very nice, smooth, roasty oolong flavor with floral after notes. It is a strong nutty roast with red color.
This is just how I like oolong and it is my standard oolong buy.

This does not have the green taste of other oolongs from Adagio and may be too much like a black for some. When I brewed at 200 degrees for 4 minutes it did not get bitter.

When I think oolong, this is the flavor in my mind. It has a darker tone than many oolongs I have tried, and has a hint of smokiness. I find this to be a very calming cup of tea

★★★★★

This is a wonderful every day tea! It’s smooth mellow flavor begs you to slow down and relax a bit so you can enjoy sipping it slowly. It is nice to drink as is, but I enjoy a bit of honey with it. Easy to steep as it does not seem to be easily burned. It does not take as much tea as I think it should to make a deep, flavorful cup, so it actually lasts longer than I think it will. Very reasonably priced because in my opinion it is as good as some of the higher priced varieties.

Very pleased with this tea. Can feel the nourishment

This had too much of an earthy taste for me, although I m sure there are others who love it!

One of my everyday teas. It's so great for any time of day.

Good oolong. I prefer the Fujian Rain to this. If you like that slightly sweet prune taste this would be for you. Avoid over steeping because that sweet prune becomes bitter grape in a hurry.
Update: A slightly lighter steeping means a really light, complex, slightly toasty tea. I might have to get the big bag.

didn't like this tea at all. just to strong woodsy flavor.

★★★★★

Hearty just the tea please type of tea. Great everyday tea that's an affordable go-to

★★★☆☆

This is a black the vertion og oolong, not bad.
However i prefure green oolongs.

★★★★★

Has a light tobacco-y flavor. Nice on its own but also blends well with vanilla oolong

★★★★★

My favorite oolong! For those that enjoy a stronger taste.

★★★★★

This is one of my favorite teas. Definitely has a rooty flavor. .

★★★★★

Slightly earthy and sweet smelling, and pairs very well with heavy, oily foods.

★★★☆☆

Middling quality for an oolong. Would prefer a better smoothness

★★★★★

Good substitute for my morning cup of coffee. I threw in a splash of coconut creamer and it worked.

★★★★★

To me it has a soft fresh cut sweet grass smell flavor lol. But I truly love that flavor! I bought a bag to last a while.

★★★★★

Several years ago I had tried an oolong tea at a Chinese restaurant and really enjoyed it. I bought box after box of different brands of oolong tea and none of them came close to what I was looking for, but this one hits the mark.

While dark in color, not too dark in taste if you get what I mean, which is not a bad thing for Oolong drinkers. I would say this a great middle ground for people that are used to drinking black tea, but need something a bit lighter for the relaxing days.

★★★★☆

This oolong had a very good, earthy taste. I would definitely order again.

I don't know a ton about Oolongs but I know that I love this tea. It has a great earthy flavor profile with some fruity undertones, and is lighter than the black teas I usually drink. I think it would probably be a good introductory tea for anyone interested in Oolongs.

★★★★★

Excellent, complex flavor. Exactly what I d expect in a good oolong.
