I do enjoy Formosa pouchong tea, and I preferred this to the Fujian ti kuan yin tea I tried. It has a faint floral flavor.
Taiwanese pouchong is the most lightly oxidized of all oolongs. Inviting sugary-floral nose from the emerald leaves, yielding pale golden liquor with a soft, melting butter texture. Uplifting honeysuckle aroma lingers on long after the last sip.

What a fantastic tea. Not only does it taste so nice, it looks so beautiful when the leaves fully expand. NICE!
This tea has a very distinct taste to it. I enjoyed it but probably wouldn't buy it again just because it is so costly. I would recommend this to people who are looking to try new teas.
Great smooth, mild overall flavor-- yet still rich tasting! Very relaxing tea, will definitely re-order. Enjoyed as much as formosa ali shan.
Very aromatic and smooth. Sheer delight! I believe that 3 minutes at 190 deg will do the trick.
So light , will order more , love the flavor so delightful !, thank you.
First of all, this tea is a treat! It smells amazing and when I took the first sip I said to myself, 'NOW THAT IS TEA!' It is pure and it has such a light and smooth taste. Next time, I might brew it for a little longer to have more flavor, but I went with Adagio's suggestion and was very happy!
Mmmm! This is delicious! It's like drinking silk-it's smooth, slightly creamy, and lacks the bitterness of most teas. Gimme, gimme more!
VerY nice tea and very nice iced this was a very nice surprise iced
This is a very flora oolong tea. I think it would be a good one to have during the spring, since it kind of tastes like spring.
This definitely deserves the masters title. It's got a complex taste that makes a tea perfect for either morning or afternoon.
I expected to like this more than I do. Tasty and ok but doesn't do anything special for me.
OMG. Amazing flavor and texture! A new favorite. Best hot with no added sweeteners. Good iced as well.
I love this. I used it in my gaiwan and made 7 infusions, and they were all good. It's light and floral with a smooth mouthfeel. Each infusion brings out a different flavor.
Very nice tea! Nice buttery spinach flavors (in a good way, not overly vegetal) yet very light and sweet like fresh sugarcane. Leaves were largely intact, and seemed fairly fresh. I also love the little tin that it came in, very cute and attractive.
I would give this a five star review if not for the price: you can get similar or better pouchong from other dealers at a lower price point. This seems to apply for most of Adagio's Master's collection, sadly.
Holy moly, what a fascinating tea! It has the faint scent of jasmine, but doesn't taste like a jasmine tea at all -- instead, it has the taste of a truly amazing, buttery green, with a slight background of smokiness. The quality of the leaves is remarkable here, too: they look amazingly full after brewing, and they really *can* be resteeped, at least twice, and the flavor remains the same. In short, this is what I call a 'wino' tea -- the sort of tea that you can discuss with friends, talking about its various 'notes' and 'textures,' sounding a bit insane to anyone out of the tea loop, but thoroughly enjoying yourself nonetheless. Thumbs up!
This tea is everything it's described to be: floral, buttery, and even better on the second brewing. I'd had a crummy day, but found myself smiling while drinking this. Nice, nice, nice!
Adagio.com classifies formosa pouchong as a 'masters' tea. and they should. I steep this tea two and sometimes three times, proving iced tea for later. The flavor is a cross between a green tea and an oolong. Although it is one of the more expensive teas on this site, you should at least try this tea in the sample size. I love it.
Richer and finer-tasting than the regular grade Pouchong. It might be 3x more expensive, but the upgrade is worth it if you really enjoy oolong teas like this one.
This tea is a very nice, very light tea with a buttery sweet flavor, although not my favorite oolong,it is still a very good tea.
I love the smell of this tea. The first steeping was spectacular and the second was even better. I wouldn't steep more than three times. But this tea truly lives up to being called a master tea. It is remarkably smooth and floral. It also has a wonderful buttery mouthfeel. It is exceptionally good.
Love this Masters tea! Light and lovely, easy brewing...really great. Try it sometime. I love tea. SO much lighter than coffee, and SO MANY flavor possibilities!
Light, smooth and delectable. Floral and buttery, this tea really lives up to the hype.
I've never been so surprised by how good a tea tastes! When I first tried the Formosa Pouchong, I could hardly believe it. This is, hands down, THE best tea I've ever had.
This is a wonderful tea. It is strong, and full of taste.
This is such a fantastic tea, really great flavor and aroma. I was living in Taiwan in a big tea-producing region awhile back and would drink this a couple times a week. Happy to know I can get a similar cup from Adagio now that I'm back in the states!
A flavorful infusion (buttery and smooth) with startlingly green leaves. Good for multiple infusions
great smell when brewing, very floral sweet and smooth.
Very smooth and buttery. There also are floral flavors in the aftertaste. It is a well rounded tea and it improves my mood. It seems to compliment lots of things. The only minus is that if i eat another strong flavor before drinking this, i cant taste it.
This was my first purchase with Adagio. Typically I buy teas from Teavana but I knew there had to be better stuff out there. I think I may have found my new tea store. First off, the tea smells amazing as it steeps, very orchid and similar to a Monkey Picked Oolong. The taste is delightfully light, creamy, and yes, as one other reviewer said, a hint salty. In a good way!
This tea is the perfect reminder of spring. When you first brew it the leaves uncurl like spring lilies and gives off a wonderful fresh flower smell. This tea has a sweet buttery flavor that is very smooth. This tea is defiantly deserving of it's masters title, and as a bonus it comes it a tin!
This oolong had an odd, almost nutty (or woody?) flavor to it, and it was very smooth. At first I was a little worried by how pale it was as I've never seen an oolong quite that light before, but it still had a very pleasant edge to the flavor.
Loved this one. A very green oolong with a buttery mouthfeel. Similar to Jade Oolong but a bit brighter/bolder in taste and more buttery. Would love to order again, but the price is high.
Really a very nice tea. I would enjoy it more as a blend and will try that the next time around.
Update: never mind blending it. I tried again and this time got it right. I believe I burned it on my first brew. GREAT tea! It has a slight sweet, fruit like tastes to it.
This was good, but frankly I didn't think it that superior to other oolong teas.
very good tea. My introduction to the masters collection, although I have not tried many oolong teas this one was definitely tasted great.
Sample shipped in a tea tin. Smells like a buttery edamame, 2nd steep more floral. My first adagio tea, really enjoyable
Well, I can see why this is part of the 'Masters' collection. This tea is really excellent. You can smell it right when you open the tin--a bit grassy, a bit sweet, and then when it gets brewed it becomes exactly what green tea should be. The flavor, at least in my opinion, is more floral than grassy, but every flavor is so subtle it's difficult to make a good description. Great for re-steeping, too.
The first infusing seemed a bit heavy - I really didn't care for it. But the 2nd and 3rd infusings were really good. I think I might have steeped the 1st infusing too long. If I get the timing right, this might be one of my favorite basic oolongs.
I was disappointed with this tea. It was very smooth, but the overall taste lacked the wow factor I've expereienced with other master teas like the fujian jasmine pearl, the yunnan gold curls and wuyi da hong pao.
This is my favorite tea from my last order. The tea itself is very light, but the aroma and taste are unparalleled. Great for multiple steeps.
Really smooth mouthfeel. It doesn't have the sharp, medicinal quality I detect in some of the other Adagio oolongs. Reminds me of good tieguanyin from the mainland and makes me want to get out my purple-clay pot again.
this is a good, savory oolong. I actually like it quite a bit, but it doesnt have the most impressive re-brewing power with a gaiwan. I expect a little more with these pricey teas
Great for multiple infusions, buttery, fragrant. one of the best Masters teas I've tried
I've brewed this quite a few ways at different temperatures and found that 2-3 minutes at 192 w/ about 1 1/2 tsp/cup works great. I'm a huge fan of jasmine so I thought I'd give this oolong a go. This sets itself apart from anything I've had. At $24/2.1oz I forced myself to take my time to enjoy it and I'm glad I did. It has a great scent to it and, as others have mentioned a buttery, floral flavor. Will order again.
I cannot get enough of the heavenly scent of this tea. I drink many teas, but nothing else has come close to the pure pleasure of drinking this.
I liked this one a lot. I noticed it does get slightly bitter if steeped for too long.
This was my first ever Oolong tea. What a great one to pick. I didn't need sugar or anything in it. It was so tasty and smooth with not one hint of bitter/astringent-ness. I cannot get enough of it now. Will definitely be buying more Oolongs!
Just got some in the mail today. Anyone else get jipped .5 ounces in their order? May not seem like much, but when its 24$ for 2.1 ounces its a lot.
Very mild color and flavor, some notes of melon. It's nice, but I don't think it's worth the price.
