Formosa Pouchong Customer Reviews

Taiwanese pouchong is the most lightly oxidized of all oolongs. Inviting sugary-floral nose from the emerald leaves, yielding pale golden liquor with a soft, melting butter texture. Uplifting honeysuckle aroma lingers on long after the last sip.

I was very excited to try this tea prior to purchasing the milk oolong blend I have been wanting. It's a beautiful blend of floral, buttery and slightly savory flavors. I could see myself drinking this tea iced everyday.

This is the first masters tea that I have tried, and I love it! I can definitely taste a difference in the quality/flavor. Looking forward to trying more of the masters series!

★★★★★

I really enjoyed this tea, pairs well with a little honey. If you enjoy light flavored oolongs this one is for you.

This has a nice delicate flavor good for when you don't want to overdue the caffeine.

★★★★★

Very good master blend and at a lower cost than the majoroty of the masters. Very veggie like taste with an orchid smell.

An absolute favorite.. Not too strong, great aroma.. A very relaxing tea..

So good. It is the easiest tea to make and tastes so pleasantly sea weedy.

My gosh, this is what quality green tea should be. Beautiful and floral without being cloying. If you are looking for a special treat try this- don't forget to brew it twice!

As a Taiwanese myself. I found these so so and too expensive for what it is.

★★★★★

Light, great for any tea party anywhere just needs sugar, creamer or plain

★★★★★

Quite simply, its one of the best Oolongs I've had.

★★★★★

Best tea I have ever had. Worth the money you put into buying bulk of this.

I really liked this one. Very mild and smooth - I don't steep my teas for too long though. There was a hint of smokiness at the end. a blink and you'll miss it moment. Overall a great tea, one I may have to save my pennies to order, but it will be worth it!

I really liked this tea. I got probably a good 4 infusions out of it before it started to taste watered down and each time a different flavor decided to come through. I'm not very familiar with oolong but this was tasty albeit expensive.

★★★★★

Quite delicious, although it needs to be steeped longer than most. I've never tasted another tea like it, but it's a little pricey to buy regularly.

★★★★☆

I enjoyed this Ooling with multiple infusions. Very light green/yellow in color with a very strong perfumed aroma of honeysuckle flowers and honeydew melon. Initial taste is similar to the scent and gives way to spun sugar after the third infusion. Started with 2 minutes @195 and went up by 30 seconds for each of the next 3 infusions. Expensive but a good tea.

With a wonderful aroma and floral finish, this makes for a very tranquil cup of tea. Very happy with my first Masters tea!

There is a slight but noticeable difference between this and the regular pouchong.

Don't get me wrong, it had a wonderful flavor, but it tastes the same as the regular pouchong that adagio sells for less. I got two good steeps out of it.

This is such a lovely, flavorful Oolong. I will be ordering it again and again, especially as summer approaches.

Ohh I love. Richer and more complex with with every brew.

★★★★★

Another excellent oolong tea. Very smooth taste without any aftertaste.

★★★★★

A very lovely and relaxing tea. I was never a fan of oolong tea, but this one is very different. It has a light flavor and is the perfect tea for relaxing time of the day.

★★★★★

This is such a delightful tea--very light and yet full of rich oolong flavor without a trace of bitterness.

Quite the nose on this tea for sure. Beautiful, aromatic, flower and honey notes. The color stays quite light for what an amazing mouthfeel it packs. Honey came to mind and in a big way. Sweet sugary honey with a touch of earthiness. Only letdown is that I expected the second steep to provide a strong second cup and it was a bit weakened instead. Still a phenomenal tea that I could drink again and again.

This is definitely a favorite for me now, and completely worth the expense. It's smooth and buttery, and makes for an amazingly relaxing cup of tea.

★★★★★

Love this tea. I find it's good for one steep at 185 and one steep at 195. It's smooth and sweet without being vegetal. This is now my favorite oolong (previously it was tikwanyin).

I ordered this as a treat to myself and boy was I glad I did. It is not only delicious the first steep, but it is lovely the second and third. Worth the extra money it costs, it is a wonderful self indulgence and would also make a wonderful gift to someone who appreciates finer tea.

★★★★★

Wow! It has a very delicate aroma but is not weak. I'd have to say this is the best Formosa Oolong I have had in 50 years of drinking tea.

★★★★★

Ohhh yeah! That's the good stuff! Just like what everyone says--buttery, hint of salt, flowery, light. Love it.

I ordered this tea thinking that it was going to be really good, but I was in no hurry to try it. I ordered the sample of 3 grams by the way. When I got around to actually trying this tea, I was utterly floored. This was the best tea I have ever had! This tea is worth every penny. It has a very nice light flavor to it, but still bold enough to stay with you for a while. It also has an very nice flowery note to it, giving it a bit of freshness that just makes it ever so invigorating. I love this tea so much. If I could buy a pound of it, I would. Also, multiple steeping with this tea is no problem at all, in fact, I would recommend it.

EDIT

Finally was able to get ahold of this tea again after not having for so long due it being out of stock every time I tried to order any. Still is my absolute favorite tea of all time. I absolutely love this tea. I am now ordering extra in case of it being out of stock for a long time again.

This is a SUBTLE tea. If you prefer bigger bolder flavor this is not for you. If you can handle the subtlety you will be rewarded with a light airy flavor with a hint of green fruit and cucumber.

Not as good as the Formosa Ali Shan but a close second.

Outstanding. I buy this for my husband who is a 'no flavor' (example: peach, ginger, mango, etc.) tea lover. He feels this is the best pouching ever!

★★★★★

This is perfection! It is light and doesn't even need a sweetener. The creamy and buttery notes reminds me of a Chardonnay. I will take the other reviewers' advice and try multiple steepings because this tea pricey - but it is worth it!

While I'm no gourmet, I will venture to say that the two major flavors I notice when I sip this tea - what I might call a 'leafy' green first, and a touch of sweetness (I would actually call it honey-like rather than floral) second - work together smoothly and magically. This tea currently holds the top spot on my list of favorites.

A nice green oolong, light and refreshing, with grass notes. The flavor is simple rather than complex, and sometimes that's just what the doctor ordered. A perfect everyday tea for those who like green oolongs.

I just tried my first cup of this Master tea! It has an amazing aroma, and to me a crisp sweet taste. I relatively new to drinking tea, and have not experienced the buttery taste that many describe.
I am about to try a second brewing, to see how it changes.
From my first taste, I love this tea.

★★★★☆

It wasn't quite as amazing as I'd hoped - not enough for me to spend a weekend afternoon resteeping the leaves. It was vegetal and light-tasting, but not complex or unusual. Good, but not worth the price to me.

★★★★★

This tea reminds me of some pleasant trips to Taiwan. I am definitely
reordering larger quantity when I use up the sampler.

★★★★★

Oh, tea, tea. Why do you do this to me? Every time I think I've found my new favorite, another one swoops in to take its place. Today's favorite: Formosa Pouchong. Out of the tin, the leaves are a very dark green--almost black in color. Steeped in the cup, however, it's a lovely pale yellow. The flavor is wonderful. SO smooth! I have just now emptied my sample size, and I'm craving more. This is NOT a cheap tea. But if this pricey contender is an example of what ponying up the extra for a 'Masters' series gets you, then I'm just going to have to spend what it takes. Excellent.

I cannot rave enough about this tea. It is, undoubtedly, the best I have ever savored in my many years' association with Adagio Teas. The tea was quite aromatic itself, a prelude to the brewed cup. Brewing requires some attention and caution: the tea requires room to expand and release its liquor, so do not confine it with a tea ball or such. I like to brew it for three minutes before enjoying my first cup. Subsequent cups are stronger. My first cup immediately transported me back to my visit to Taipei in December 1978, where I garnered my first Oolong tea. Adagio, thanks for saving me the air travel for this gem!

This oolong is like drinking pleasantly perfumed water, a very interesting experience I'm glad to have had. Although, I don't think it's what I want out of my tea experience the majority of the time.
