Formosa Bai Hao Customer Reviews

This Taiwan tea, also called Fancy Formosa Silver Tip or Oriental Beauty, is one of the world's most prized oolongs. More heavily oxidized, yielding luxurious floral, peach-pit fragrance. Incredibly sweet and lush, delicate warm spicy undertone.

Love, Love, Love this one and will order again! Has just the right balance of flavor.

★★★★☆

Good tea, has a some what dry finish. Was able to multiple infusions out of it.

Suprised by how much I liked this. I was worried about the weakness of the oolongs being a fan of blacks, but I have to say I am learning to appreciate the flavors of the oolongs now based on this one tea.

★★★★★

Awesome tea! Full flavor through several infusions, wonderful color. My favorite of all thus far, definitely the best Oolong. Highly recommended.

★★★★☆

I only ordered a small amount of this tea in my last order, and it was the first to go. Despite the higher price, it gets a big recommendation from me.

★★★★★

I compared this to the Oooh Darjeeling. Formosa Bai Hao is definitely superior. The scent is almost exactly like wildflower honey. I steep it quickly each time and use the leaves at least four times before discarding. Each cup is a little different.

I found this tea to well balanced and was perfect anytime of the day.

Oolongs to me are more a journey where most teas are more of a moment. What I mean is each steeping is different and becomes better and better from 1st to 4th. This one brews a light copper liquor with an aroma of light earth and spice. This tea has a great, clean and refreshing mouth feel. The taste is light earth and sweet with a touch of spice.

formosa bai hao is nothing to sneeze at, it is quite good.

★★★★☆

It was good, not a whole lot different from a plain black tea.

★★★★★

This tea is one of my favorites. I absolutely love it! I recommmened if you want someone to try oolong teas you start with the formosa bai hao #40.

I'm on the fence about this tea. Being it was one of my first loose tea to brew, I wasn't sure if it was my inexperience of brewing it correctly or the tea itself. The flavor just wasn't as impressive as some of the other teas I had sampled - but I still feel compelled to give it another try once I have more experience.

★★★★★

This tea has the subtle bitterness, I like in a green tea, with black tea boldness.

Switching back and forth between this and ooooh darjeeling is wonderful. Both are great (although similar) teas.

★★★★☆

Nice flavor, tastes good hot or cold. Really great hot with a tiny bit of cream in it.

★★★★★

Has a great subtle flavor. I like to go for this one in the evening.

★★★☆☆

I expected it to be a little sweeter. We mixed this with the vanilla and it was a wonderful treat!

★★★★☆

My favorite of the oolong teas. I find it to be mild and a good afternoon tea.

★★★★★

My new favorite tea that I have tried from Adagio, slightly sweet but not overpowering and very smooth, buying more once I use up the last of the sampler.

★★★★☆

The tea isn't bad, but compared to some other oolong teas I've had, this tastes and smells more like a black tea. If you're more used to lighter oolongs you might not like this as much. But for people who prefer black teas will enjoy this.

★★★☆☆

I guess I'm more into green oolongs, but this one wasn't intense enough as a brown.

★★★★☆

Looking over the leaves of this tea alone I can tell that it is a higher quality tea as compared to the other cheaper Formosa Oolong offered by Adagio. It has a much lighter and smoother taste to it which includes some more floral flavor notes. Although to be quite honest I prefer the cheaper variety for its simple more earthy flavor.

Way too earthy and bitter. Not going to order again.

★★★☆☆

BLACK TEA IS MY LEAST FAVORITE, BUT GOOD FOR A BLACK TEA. MILD FLAVOR.

★★★★☆

My second favorite of the oolongs I've tried, this is a darker brew with a strong flavor, even on multiple brews. There's a bit of an earthy flavor, which is more pronounced at higher temps. Adagio recommends brewing this with boiling water, but I think it gives it an almost burned flavor at that temp.

★★★★★

My first - and certainly not my last - introduction to oolong teas, this was rich and smoky and very pleasant to sip.

★★★☆☆

Smooth, well balanced, but not as characterful an oolong as others available here.

★★★★☆

A pretty good oolong, but not crazy about the sweetness of it. I prefer #18.

★★★☆☆

A little too burnt for my liking. Think SB's coffee.

This tea is exquisite. This and the Jasmine Pearls (#12)are my favorites. I bring it out on special occasions and savor it to the last drop.

Deep honey

★★★★☆

I don't love or hate this oolong. It's very good but definitely not my favorite. It was surprising sweet tasting to me, and the second brew came off almost woodsy to me. I do like that tea and think it would be great for those new to oolong.

★★★★☆

An interesting oolong tea with a subtly complex flavor that ranges from floral to grassy. A very nice mellow cup of tea that really tastes more like a green tea to me.

★★★★★

This was my first experience with oolong, and it was a good one. It's super-smooth and soft, and I'm definitely picking up the sweet peachy notes. Yum.

★★★★★

Although it's more expensive than some of the other oolong teas, oolong #40 is quite woth the price. A complex, earthy flavor incorporates the best of black tea's caramel-y undertones with green tea's smooth, fresh taste. Don't doctor this one up too much - just a touch of sugar, if that, and it's perfect.

Plus, remember that you can use this tea for multiple infusions.

★★★☆☆

This is a good, but not great tea. I find that it has a bit more of a grassy taste than I like, and is otherwise rather unremarkable. I think it just just tastes like elevator music sounds.

This is one of the best oolongs I have every had. I really like it and will definitely be ordering a larger size next time.

★★★★★

Smooth, refreshing, woodsy, creamy, sweet, my absolute favorite tea. This tea has become an expensive habit for me. I drink several cups every day.

★★★★★

I use this for both hot and cold-brewed tea, and it's fantastic. Smooth and rich, with a slight hint of sweetness. I wish it was cheaper, so I only make it for special occasions, but it is my absolute favourite tea.

★★★★★

This is smooth and full of flavor tea. One of the best among oolong teas. Worth trying it.

★★★★★

A surprisingly good tea, the flavor was excellent and it seemed difficult to over steep

★★★★☆

Tea was pretty good, had an earthy flavor to it, it was a sort of deep flavor that lingered in my mouth.

★★★★★

Great Oolong, my favorite. Longer steeping seems to work better for me.

★★★★★

Very smooth and light. Lighter than what I'm used to, but it was still very good. Hardly any lingering after taste and almost no astringency. Really quite nice.

★★★★☆

This tea is good but not worth the price in my opinion. The flavor is very faint. I much prefer my Oolong #8 at a much cheaper price.

Great tea just wish it didn't cost so much. Going to most def be one of my fav oolong's..

★★★★★

This tea is so good I started playing Edward Oolong 40 hands where I duct tape a tea pot full of #40 to each hand and can’t use the facilities until I have finished both. It's a real hoot!

★★★★★

A deliciously sweet and mild tea. Very light in flavor.

This is my first try at loose leaf teas, I thought that it would be a nice change of pace from the packets I was used to and just something really interesting. Of the ten or so teas that I bought this was the first one to try and I have to say that I really like it. It's smooth at the beginning and has a subtle complexity, 2 teaspoons of sugar and its perfect. I think tea will be my new hobby. Recommend to anyone as a great first tea, not risky by any stretch but you will find yourself coming back to it over and over in the clutch.

★★★★★

This tea is very flavorful, I think this is my favorite oolong so far.
