Ew. This one was definitely not for me! After seeing the posts on the cough syrup taste and now trying it myself I have to agree.

I was very excited when this came up in the Christmas Advent Calendar of 2020, and was super happy it was fully added to the lineup. I love the nice, bright smell of cherries and almonds from the bag! There is a bit of artificial smell of cherry that reminds me of cherry candies, and the rose and almond pair perfectly with it. It's great with one tsp per 8oz, without sweetener or milk. It's also excellent as an iced tea!

Oh so good. I absolutely love this tea. I must admit I did not taste the rose. What I did taste was incredible cherry nestled in almond and cradled in oolong. So, so good. Even though my tea cupboard is bursting at the seams I will be ordering more of this today.

I really wanted to like this tea. It's oolong, it's cherry, and is supposed to taste like marzipan. It tastes like cherry Robitussin. I tried hot, I tried iced. Doesn't matter. I will not purchase again.

A bright cherry flavor on its own, but added it to a bit of almond oolong and made for one of my favorite flavors of cherry almond. It already having a bit of almond oolong in it to begin with.

Oh wow! This is so good. I love it with cream and sugar and it reminds me of a chocolate covered cherry.

Fantastic flavor! The cherry and marzipan are detectable yet, not too strong. Great pick me up

Strong smell of cherry, but the rosehips were pretty overwhelming. Hot, it had that cherry taste, lukewarm had a sweetish almond flavor. I wasn t blown away - it was firmly 'ok.' I bet it would taste so much better iced, or with sugar/honey to somewhat mask the overwhelming rose.

I liked this one, but didn't love it. The tea smelled VERY overwhelmingly of cherry flavor, and it smelled like fake cherry flavor, so I was really hesitant when actually brewing it, but after it steeped it actually smelled much more of marzipan and the cherry had mellowed and smelled less fake. I was pleasantly surprised. I would say this is much better hot, IMO, and I also liked the second steep with a little sugar better than the first one without.

Today's packet opened to release a rather artificial scent of cherry candy, almost medicinal. The packet contained an apple piece and a large dried cherry that looked like a giant raisin. Steeped for 3 minutes at 212ºF created a light brown tea that smelled like cherry and almonds.

The flavor was not as off-putting as the initial smell led me to believe. The cherry was present, but not too overpowering. The almond flavor was much more pleasing, and blended well with the cherry and Oolong tea. The star of the show was of course the Oolong tea, adding a nice toasty and smooth oxidized base with some mild astringency. The tart cherry was pleasantly mild in the flavor blend, but I couldn't get the idea of cherry flavored cough medicine out of my head after smelling the packet earlier. Just because of the bad memories associated with that artificial cherry candy like flavor, this tea's flavor was ruined a bit for me. I think I'd rather just have the almond oolong instead of this one, but that's just me.

Overall, this tea's flavor was good but I wasn't a huge fan of the artificial cherry smell. If it were closer to a luxardo black cherry, this tea would be excellent. However, my mind kept thinking back to memories of taking bad tasting cherry flavored medicine which was not very pleasant.

This tea looks so pretty with rose petals in the mix. It has a bright cherry smell and tastes great. The cherry taste is strong and fruity, the almond flavoring gives a nice depth, and the hint of spice provides a pleasant complexity. A rebrew is much lighter in taste and adding sweetener decreases the almond taste and makes the cherry taste seem more artificial. This has a much stronger almond taste than the Almond Oolong and is not tart like the Dewy Cherry. It stands out positively compared to cherry and cherry blossom teas from other vendors. I'm not usually a fan of cherry or almond flavors in my tea, but this new mix by Adagio is really great.

I received a single portion of this tea as part of the CommuniTEA box. As it's a one-ish teaspoon sample portion, it may not be as balanced as a larger purchase of this. Alright, on with the review proper.

Opening the bag reveals a tea heavily scented with cherry, with some almond in the background. The tea isn't as present in the scent, though the leaves look good, long and well-rolled with very little smaller, broken leaves. It seems as though I've got a good amount of cherries in my sample, as well as the other ingredients. Still, the cherry scent is the most prevalent smell, almost to the point of reminding me of cloying cough syrup.

After steeping the tea for just over five minutes with boiling water, it creates a fairly pink tea, somewhat pale in color. It smells of that same cough syrup cherry scent that the leaves had, and the tea is...interesting? It didn't seem to have much of a taste outside of a slight tang from the cherries and the scent that filled my nose. I don't know if that's just because the tea was still a little hot when I drank it, and so simply couldn't taste it, or what. Adding sugar helps to bring out the cherry properly, as well as the other flavors of the tea, including a slight nuttiness to it, but it still is that odd black cherry kool-aid or cough syrup cherry flavor.

Overall...I'm not impressed with this tea. I was looking forward to it when I received the email about this tea earlier in the week, and had nearly purchased a sample, but I'm glad I didn't. While I wouldn't turn the tea down if offered, I likely won't be purchasing this tea for myself.

Wow, very cherry! This tea overwhelms with a cherry jello/gumdrop/cough drop flavor. If you like cherry jello, you will like this. It's not my favorite personally, but this was a good rendition. It was equally good sweetened and unsweetened. (4 mins @ 200 F, 2 drops EZ-Sweetz)

I sampled this tea when it was offered back in November. I had high expectations, as I love adagio’s nut flavored teas. This one is good, but not exactly what I was expecting. The cherry is the most dominate flavor, with the almond faint in the background. I really couldn’t detect much of the cinnamon or rose, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Trying it again with the CommuniTEA made me appreciate it a little more. It’s something I’ll break out again at least.

This had a mild cherry flavor and almost no almond flavor (which was good to me because I don't enjoy almond anything). There was a smooth mouthfeel with no astringency which I appreciated. Surprisingly I did not note the cinnamon until the second steep and had lost interest by then. In the end I am glad I did not spend extra money just to get this free with $49.00 purchase. (Tasting with the CommuniTEA.)

I was surprised that I liked this one. I'm not that big of a fan of cherry or almond. And, I really hate rose or any flower taste in my tea. I either really couldn't taste the rose, or it actually combined with the other flavors in such a way to make it better. It did need a cube of sugar to make it good for me though. If I was really indulgent I would put two, but I'm trying to cut down on my sugar, so I'm not gonna do it. Tasted as part of The CommuniTea.

Cherry & almond often go well together, so I was optimistic for this tea. It was alright, as others have pointed out it's a bit difficult to ignore the cherry flavorant aftertaste, but for me the almond dulls it down enough to be palatable.

Ive never had cherry marzipan before but the tea has strong flavor of maraschino cherries. you can taste a hint of the almond when it becomes warm. If you don't like the flavor of maraschino cherries you will likely not like this tea.

This tea sounds really good in theory - I love cherry almond flavored desserts. But the cinnamon really ruined the flavor for me. It ended up being sour and cinnamon while trying to be like a decadent dessert, which just didn't work for me unfortunately.

I sipped my mystery sampler from the CommuniTEA and thought it was a peach oolong... not surprised to learn it is cherry! The marzipan didn't hit me much, though. A decent drink -- but not as tart as I'd like.

This is my lowest score I ever gave an Adagio tea. It maybe my taste buds. I read other comments and someone mentioned that the tea tasted like cherry cough drops and as it got cooler it tasted better. For me it tasted like cherry cough syrup the whole time. When it got cooler I tasted a little more almond or cream flavor, but I did not enjoy this tea at all. I am looking forward to tomorrow because I did not enjoy the one today.

What a unique experience! “Cherry marzipan” really hits the nail on the head. The cherry flavor is very forward, but all the other flavors are quick to follow. This tea might. It be for everyone, but I sure am enjoying it!

The smell out of the packet is insanely strong- almost like cherry cough syrup. I was a bit nervous to try it but it's not that bad when brewed! Very floral and cherry flavors come through, although I still feel like it's a bit too cough-syrupy to be 5-stars. The sweetness of the marzipan also somewhat enhances this syrupy flavor. Overall, I do think it delivers the promised cherry and marzipan flavors! However, it's more like an artificial taste rather than a truly fruity and nutty one.

I'm usually not an oolong fan, but I loved the taste. The cherry was strong (I don't get the couch drop), but unfortunately I have to drop a star because I didn't get any of the almond - which I wanted from marzipan!.

Part of the April 2021 CommuniTEA box. Marzipan is one of my favorite sweets, and I’m absolutely delighted to have a copycat in this tea! A little sweetener brings all the sugary goodness right out, with so much less calories!

I found the smell coming from the packet (strong cherry cough syrup smell) to be off-putting so I brewed this tea for the shortest recommended time of 3 minutes. The tea is very smooth and not as strong as I'd feared from the packet smell, but the flavor is reminiscent of cough syrup -- it has a medicinal cherry flavor without the sweet syrupy taste. I can't get past the very strong medicinal flavor of the cherry to identify other flavors. I tried adding honey and cream. The honey added sweetness but didn't improve the flavor significantly. Cream did not seem to go well with this tea.

I really wanted to like this tea. Really.
I brewed it up at 195 degrees and let it steep, the aroma was lovely... But the taste, wow, medicinal does not begin to describe this tea! I honestly felt like I had to drink something that was cloying and medicinal, and just plain yuck! I tasted some almond which was nice but it was overlaid by such artificial cherry cough drop along with soapy rose that reminds me of my grandmothers cloying bathroom soaps...Nope, not for me. To be fair, I really did try and made myself choke down about 6 sips, after which I poured the rest down the drain, as my motto is 'life is too short to drink tea I don't like/hate'. I made myself another cup that I do enjoy to rinse out the horrible taste. Sorry Adagio, this one is not my cup of tea!

CommuniTea review: I think cherry is a tricky flavor in tea. I generally don't like it...as is the case here. I found this to be very perfumey and somewhat medicinal. The almond was a nice touch, but this just isn't my cuppa tea.

I find myself agreeing with the chat comments that said the cherry is overpowering the almond. The marzipan flavor shows up as a sweet leaning to the tea. It doesn’t taste like a purely cherry flavored tea, but the almond taste is very muted here.

Whenever i encounter cherry in teas I'm always afraid its going to be medicinal. Cherry flavoring isn't my favorite, and the promise of marzipan means almond, another not a favorite.  From the moment I opened the packet I was triggered; this tea smells EXACTLY like a restaurant bathroom air freshener. Despite this i still attempted to drink it. It smells bad and drinks the same, i put this one down the drain, i never do THAT but I couldn't get past the smell. Everytime I tried to have another sip my instincts revolted. If I could leave no stars i would. I sampled this Tea as part of the CommuniTEA April 2021 box. During the November Flavor Vote I voted for strawberry banana split.

As I opened the CommuniTEA packet I was immediately transported back into childhood, holding my Zayde's hand. He always had Vick's cherry cough drops and it was supposed to be a special treat when we were given one. I always gave mine to my brother, because artificial cherry flavor has always tasted like medicine to me. My brother loves it! So I love the memories this tea evokes but am meh on the taste.

Brewing, the scent of the cherries mingled with some almond essence and gave off the aroma of cough syrup. Brewed a deep red, it looked like it, too! I tried it hot, I tried it warm, I added a touch of rock sugar, and in every variation it also tasted like it. My brother will probably love it! I know what someone is getting for a gift someday soon.

200 degrees for 4 minutes. The initial scent of the dry leaves did smell like cough drops as others said. Yet, I persevered to the finished product. And I was pleasantly surprised! Soft rose interlaced the bolder cherry and almond flavors that sat comfortably on the oolong base. As it cooled, the cinnamon made itself known. I enjoyed this tea sweetened, because it brought the flavors together for a nice treat. I have never tasted marzipan, but now I want to try it!

What a deliciously flavored tea to honor spring with the backdrop of beautiful blooming cherry trees in Washington, DC, and flower laden almond trees decorating rural Northern California. The flavor of luscious cherry with a nice tart kick from the rose hips and softened by the smoothing flavor of rose petals are so very tasty. The nutty sharp flavor of almond perfectly complements the juicy cherry in this tea. The dark oolong tea base adds a nice earthy and woodsy accent to the blend allowing the main flavors to shine but adding an extra nutty taste throughout the sip. The first hot sip was of almond flavor followed closely by the taste of cherry but as the tea cooled more I tasted the cherry flavor first and the almond taste second. I sipped the hot tea plain but found sweetening intensified both flavors. A sweetened and chilled version of this tea was more mellow in flavor but still just as enjoyable.

My CommuniTEA packet had 3 g/ 2 full tsp of almond cherry scented tea with all ingredients present. I brewed 12 oz. at an oolong temp. of 190F for 3:30 minutes. By that time, most of the tea leaves had opened and fallen to the bottom of my IngenTEA. The dark golden liquor had a gentler scent of cherry almond than that of the dry tea. There was no bitterness detected upon sipping just a pleasant astringency from a bit of dry mouth I experienced at the end of a cup. I resteeped another very flavorful 8 oz. for 3 minutes. I really enjoyed this tea and although I have so many already, I have to add this one with almost giddy joy. It tastes great and reminds me of the beautiful cherry and almond blossoms that delight me each spring.
