Ali Shan Customer Reviews

Green oolong tea from Ali Shan, one of Taiwan's most famous tea growing areas. Beautiful high mountain oolongs come from its misty peaks. Warm sugar and deeply layered floral aromas, with a melting, creamy mouthfeel. Mellow and light-bodied.

This may be my favorite tea, although the Jasmine Pearls are a thing of beauty.

Not what I was expecting. From the description I was expecting something more along the lines of a Milk Oolong. It's very floral and the flavour is almost like a sweeter Gunpowder Green Tea. Glad I only bought the sample size!

Floral, honeyed notes makes this a great oolong tea. I particularly liked the second infusion of this tea

watching it brew the tea color was very light. I was not expecting much when I pored it. Very deceiving there was a complex sweet honey light flavor. This is a tea you take your time and enjoy each of unique flavors. let your mind fade from your worries and enjoy this tea.

I love this tea! The smell is intoxicating. I wasn't sure how I would like this tea, but it is now one of my favorites. Fresh, clean, with a perfect amount earthiness.

When I first saw the leaves of this tea rolled in a ball, it made me think of gunpowder tea (my absolute favorite!). However, it's good in it's own way (doesn't have the smokiness that gunpowder has though). It has a natural sweetness, so next time I need to dial back the sugar a bit.

Delicious! This is more similar to tieguanyin than a woodsier oolong like wuyi ensemble or formosa baihao. I think this may be the sweater of the two (between tieguanyin and ali shan). In general a great floral taste.

I actually don't brew it for exactly 4 minutes but maybe something closer to 4min 15 seconds.

I enjoyed the light flavor of this oolong. The quality is great.

My second oolong, first being ooooh darjeeling, definitely a green/veggie hint to the flavour. Super smooth taste and in accordance to other reviews, a 'buttery' texture. Leaves a pleasant aftertaste when the tea is done, which I really enjoy.

This one reminds me of the great oolong teas I've had in Taiwan (not surprisingly, as it's from Taiwan). If you like oolong this is a great choice.

This is the best of the many teas I've tried here. It is rich, smooth (and affordable.) It lasts through several steeps. It is hands-down a good bargain. If you want to introduce somebody to a high-quality oolong, start with this.

This oolong is truly a pleasure. The aroma is mildly floral but with a sweet ending. The flavor is clean with little to no astringency. I have found this tea to be very flexible--steep for a longer time and you get vegetal flavors, or steep for a shorter time for a sweeter taste, reminiscent of honey. This tea is worth spending a lot of time with. What a masterpiece!

I really enjoyed this oolong. A nice, smooth, and subtle flavor. Surprised at how little color the water took on during the steep. Will definitely order again.

I thought the flavor for the 1st brew was really good, one of the best, but the 2nd brew tasted a bit strange.

well worth the cost, this is a great Oolong. Great vegetable flavors with a light grassyness to it. go light on the amount as it will brew a strong pot.

This is a really nice green oolong tea. It has great bold flavors but will only brew up well once. The second time around it is really weak.

Love this oolong, lasts for a good while. I have as much fun watching the leaves unfurl as much as drinking it.

Honestly, maybe I was brewing it wrong but I wasn't able to tell the buttery finish that is supposedly known for.

When I was living in FL, I would drink this tea almost every day before work. Something about this tea and the water in FL worked together really well.

I love Ali Shan! It's a very smooth, subtle Oolong tea that is great on a sunday morning. Seep this tea for a longer period of time and it will still taste fine. No afterbite, no bitterness. I just wish the price hadn't gone up on it. A luxury I'll have to pay for.

I thought this tea was rather expensive and a little overrated for the amount of flavor I got out of it. I shared it with a friend, and we agreed that it was good, it was drinkable, but it didn't seem to have any remarkably distinguishing flavors such as the ooooh darjeeling or the dancong aria. It reminded me a lot of the Jade Oolong, which is a more economic buy for a similar flavor.

This tea is my favorite of all Oolongs so far. It is sweet, rich and nicely floral. I visited Taiwan recently and wasn't able to go to Ali Mountain where this tea is harvested, but was able to enjoy a lot of it! Will definitely buy more and more as I can't stop drinking it!

I would not rank this among my favorites, but the delicate flavor was intriguing.

Incredible tea, only a little bit is needed because leaves are huge once you see them unfurled! Steeps well multiple times, gentle balanced tea. Dont really notice any floral taste but I do detect some sweet notes.

This is a decent oolong -- it can seem pricy, but it's definitely worth every penny. I particularly like the aroma and the undertaste.

Oolong tea has always been my favorite, and now I've found my favorite oolong tea. This tea was sensational. From the pale-yellow golden color to the surprisingly under stated aroma. It had body, but was very smooth. Some people include price in their review of a tea, but I base it only on the tea, if it's expensive then I order less of it, and it makes it more of a treat when I do have it.
I highly recommend this tea.

This was my first oolong. It has a rather strong smell while steeping. I enjoy the flavor, But it is not my favorite tea.

★★★☆☆

this was a different tea. had alot of flavor but not much to our liking

★★★★☆

Having been a former Monkey Picked Oolong (from Teavana), I would say that this had a more vegatal taste. It's a more complex taste, definitely something that must be acquired. But a must-try for oolong lovers.

★★★★☆

A smooth tea with some slight floral notes. It is a green Oolong so I had to play with the time a little. Steeped very well at 4 minutes.

This Tea is Amazing. For those of you familiar with Teavana, this is comparable to their High Grade Monkey Picked Oolong, it has a sweet honeysuckle like flavor. It tastes great upon multiple steepings (about 3). I found the second steeping to be by far the best.
