Only the finest, young, shade-grown gyokuro tea leaves are used to create matcha. The leaves are plucked and laid out flat to dry. Veins are removed and the leaves, now called tencha, are carefully ground in granite mills until they become the precious powder.

Great quality matcha in very nice packaging. I had some older culinary matcha on hand and when compared to this matcha, you can really tell the difference. This matcha is a much brighter and vibrant green, and the flavor is incomparable.
A good all around Matcha blend; my personal recommendation is to serve with almond milk and a touch of brown sugar.

This is my first matcha purchase and I have really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend a whisk in place of a spoon to avoid clumping. I make 1-2 cups at a time and follow the directions of a little water at a time till it becomes a paste, then nice and frothy for completion. The flavor is very smooth and rich and pairs well with a little honey to sweeten. I have a feeling having a small blender bottle would make for easy mixing but have yet to test.
