Have only used in smoothies. I love the color it adds, not crazy about the taste so I usually add just enough to make the smoothie a pretty avocado green.
Only the finest, young, shade-grown gyokuro tea leaves are used to create matcha. The leaves are plucked and laid out flat to dry. Veins are removed and the leaves, now called tencha, are carefully ground in granite mills until they become the precious powder.

I was so happy to see that Adagio is offering Matcha, and I wasn't disappointed! I also purchased the bamboo whisk and it makes a perfect froth.
Was super excited when Adagio finally had Matcha tea available online, as Matcha tea is my favorite tea hands down. But rather disappointed - tea has sort of a weird seaweedy taste to it. Also, the price is quite ridiculous for the quality. Disclaimer: Majorly spoiled by high quality matcha from local japanese grocery stores (and 1/4th the price). Still, I personally think you're better off saving the money and investing in better matcha at your local health grocery store (like Whole Foods) or tea shop. Good Matcha is like a hug for your soul. Adagio's Matcha, unfortunately, doesn't live up to the hype.
Definitely has a big kick of the grassy flavor. Not a huge fan, but I did feel healthy drinking it! .)
Great tea, mild flavor, the color is a vibrant green, brews up wonderfully smooth and creamy. One of the best matcha tea for the price.
This is a nice matcha that whips up really well with very little sediment left near the bottom and produces a fine foam when whisked. This matcha has a smooth texture and no grittiness. Mild flavor and dark green color. Good stuff!
I never had matcha before. It was a little different because it can be almost, gritty? But the flavor is strong and to me, I almost got somewhat of an overbrewed bitterness. It was better with honey, and I will keep playing with it.
I'm not a big matcha drinker and it took me a bit to really get into this tea, but once I figured out how I liked it prepared, it was amazing. I would certainly get this again.
When I saw Adagio finally had matcha I shouted for joy! Great color, great taste, and you can't beat the price!
My initial thought was 'interesting' - its a super fine loose tea, which takes a little getting used to. Taste wise, its a good green tea, smooth and slightly sweet.
I'd never had matcha before, but I tried four different ways of preparing it before finally finding the true wonder and grace of this tea. It is an experience I recommend to everyone.
It is a really good green tea. It is light in flavor but would highly recommend it. It is a very healthy tea!
I'm new to matcha, so read my review with that in mind...but I found this matcha to be just 'ok', nothing great. Not particularly smooth, but not awful, just 'run of the mill.'
I haven't opened this product but.. I get a drink from a well known coffee shop, green tea frap with soy, yummy!
A good quality, smooth matcha. If you add a little bit to genmaicha, it's also quite nice, or you can make matcha lattes as an alternative as well ^^
a friend ordered this.. and lets say quite a few people didnt like what he had to say. lol. me on the other hand.. i really like this. great flavor. yeah its a little expensive.. but i think its worth it. i like using it as a detox/cleansing tea.
Great tea and new experience for an avid drinker. Check out 'how to brew' videos, so your first cup is corretely made.
I had a little trouble brewing it properly (and I really really wish that Adagio sold the proper whisk for that) at the beginning, but eventually figured out the trick of it. Also discovered it's delicious brewed cold.
Buttery and smooth with natural sweetness. Highly recommended.
Oh my goodness gracious. This is matcha! I have had some terrible matchas from other online tea vendors that aren't fit to drink. Made from pi lo chun? What? But I made up a very small cup just to taste it. And it is exquisite. It's as savory-sweet as it was described. I drank it while nursing a very unpleasant flu and immediately felt better. This is a beautiful, soothing, and restorative matcha that is completely worth the price. I am going to order a larger size very soon. Congratulations, Adagio. You have impressed me yet again.
Very messy to get out of the bag, but very high quality. This stuff should be saved and given to people who are sick. There is nothing else I really have to say about this tea, except for to be careful when opening the sampler bag.
Rich, a lot of body, the 'greenest' green tea ever. Very satisfying. Needs no additives. Very vegetal. Easy to prepare. I really, really like this tea!!
I am so glad Adagio carries this now! Good quality, very decent price for a premium, special-occasion tea (macha is pricey everywhere in the US). Has that distinct astringent and sweet blend of macha flavors.
Not only is it great, you can't beat that price! I've used it in several different preparations (classic, latte, iced, iced latte, and frozen blended) and all have come out well. I plan to make some preparation/recipe videos. I'll let you guys know when they're up.
Matcha is always wonderful! The color on this one is a vibrant emerald green, the powder itself is finely ground with no tea leaf debris, and of course brews up wonderfully smooth and creamy. The taste is somewhat savory-sweet, and very obviously green tea flavored--that is to say, vegetal, grassy, bright, and so on. Hand whisking brings up a very nice, frothy foam. So excuse the matcha mustache I'm sporting while I go make some more.
This is the healthiest tea product on the site. One cup of matcha is worth about 10 cups of green tea. I love the sweet and savory texture it provides. I will be back for more when I run out of the sample!
I really enjoyed this tea! I am definitely not super experienced with matcha, or tea in general, so I made it wrong the first few times. Once I finally nailed it, I fell in love! This tea is so delicious! I would describe it as having a perfect mix of bitter, sweet, and a soft green tea flavor. I often use this tea to make a green tea latte. I highly recommend this tea!
WEIRD, definitely not what I was expecting. It's not really like Gyokuro at all, and it actually reminded me of something medicinal. Cool vivid color though!
I didn't know what to expect with this, but it is amazing. It's a beautiful color and the flavor has just a tinge of sweetness that's very nice. I definitely think it's well worth the cost. And thank you Adagio for the quick help with the clearing up the shipping error with this tea. I recommend trying at least the sample, especially for green tea lovers.
I love it it tastes are so sweet and yummy. The price is actual not bad for this type of tea. I recommend you try it, especially if you love green tea.
I decided to take advantage of free shipping and a gift card to splurge on some matcha. I'm not very familiar with matcha so I don't have much to compare this to, but I would still say it's pretty good! A bit pricey for a repeat purchase, but definitely worth trying.
This was nice to try, but its not worth the price. I'll grind my own gyokuro for that price.
I love matcha tea! I can't wait to try this one. I hope it's good
