Matcha Customer Reviews

Only the finest, young, shade-grown gyokuro tea leaves are used to create matcha. The leaves are plucked and laid out flat to dry. Veins are removed and the leaves, now called tencha, are carefully ground in granite mills until they become the precious powder.

This matcha is a beautiful color and delightfully smooth! I personally like to make it as a latte (with milk/cream), but it's also good when made with just water and sweetened with a little honey. It's great even if you don't have dedicated matcha equipment, but I do recommend sifting it to get lumps out and using a handheld milk frother (or similar) to mix it.

This is aome of the highest quality matcha I’ve found. It’s powdery and doesn’t really require sifting. It froths up easily and well. It tastes lovely. My only complaint is the packaging. It is packaged in a metal tin, which in and of itself is not highly recommended, and the tin is packed to the brim, leading to a mess when you open it the first time. I transferred it to an airtight infinity jar.

I have never bought matcha before this, but I’m definitely going to start making my own matcha lattes at home. This matcha is really good

So wonderful in the morning with hot milk! Soothing !

★★★★★

This is the best basic matcha! It's bright, smooth, and grassy. It's great as hot or cold lattes. The biggest drawback is that it's a little pricey even for a small tin.

Matcha for the win, this one is super nice! Loved making lattes

A very smooth matcha with a great taste! The aroma is that of fresh leaves and the flavor a sweet earthiness that lends itself to a lovely cup of traditional matcha tea, or an iced matcha latte.

This is a fantastic matcha! A bit bitter, but not overwhelming, and goes perfectly in my matcha lattes. It's very smooth, no issues with clumping so far, and has a vibrant green color and fresh scent that I enjoy. Every time I finish a glass, I immediately start craving another!

Good matcha. Nice color and texture. Blends into water fairly well. Add matcha powder to small amount of hot water and mix well, then add more water and mix again.

A good ceremonial Matcha for every day sipping - also good as a lavender latte
I make 2 oz of very hot water and mix in 1tsp of Matcha powder and blend well; then top with steamed oat milk and honey or lavender syrup

Holy Moly! What a great Matcha! Some Matcha drinks are only so-so, but this one is so-so much more! It's my complete breakfast drink. Great for chasing nutritional supplements!

The best matcha you can get outside of Kyoto.I've had some of the best matcha in the world and consider myself a snob. I've also been a loyal Adagio customer since 2016 ordering their matcha monthly. I won't drink anything else. It's truly the best. I've gotten all my friends, coworkers, and family hooked on it. Their customer service, points system, and free samples are always the best. I cannot say enough good things and I never take the time to write reviews but they deserve it lol. Thank you Adagio! I will be a customer as long as possible!! All I can say is BUY NOW and you'll never look back.

Side note- for those that don't drink matcha, their other teas and products are equally as good :)

Fresh, bright, and hits the spot every time. I have tried all the flavors but nothing beats a solid matcha with nothing added.

This matcha is delicious! I make iced matcha lattes with whole milk and a bit of vanilla syrup. I drink them all the time during the work week for some yummy energy!

Delicious. Less of an umami flavor than a lot of high grade matcha, so a great entry point. Very smooth

Admittedly can't speak much to the matcha other than the color looks decent as I've had very little in the past, but knocked a star for the way the tin closes. A bit nit picky, but it's quite easy to go past the notch when trying to get it closed tight, and lately the inner top piece falls off a number of them requiring me to super glue them to the top.
Edit: I should also add, on the plus side I don't find this matcha really needs sifting, I use a blender bottle and don't really end up with clumps. I've tried at least one other matcha which the one time I did sift it, I sifted twice for the first cup(first sift into the tin) and still had clumping issues.

This is the first matcha I've ever tried, but the reviews have all been quite positive, and I'll have to agree, this tea is smooth and vegetal without being bitter. I now drink it every morning in place of coffee, and I find I'm calmer, more energized, and feeling much healthier for it. I've also found that this tea helps me better focus on schoolwork and meditation. Gonna to have to buy a larger order next time.

Update: This matcha is still a wonderful treat. Very smooth on the palate and froths up very easily in my matcha bowl.

This matcha is some of the best I ve had for the price point. It s not bitter, just the right amount of earthy with subtle grassy notes and sweetness. I drink this 2-3 times a day without any crash. Best of all, it doesn't separate when I use it in a hot latte!

★★★★★

Absolutely love making matcha lattes with this! It has a lovely earthy flavor that is mellowed with milk and sweetener.

I adore matcha and this is a screaming deal instead of buying individual drinks from a coffee shop. So both my tummy and wallet are happy!

★★★★★

Tried some other Matchas while this was out of stock. None of them compared well to this. Some were good quality but were very expensive. Others were way to grassy and clumpy. Excited to know a pound of Adagio's powdered green goodness is on it's way.

★★★★★

I have always been a fan of matcha. this one is very flavorful and goes well with oat milk. it won't be my last time getting it

★★★★★

I had it a while ago, and it was delicious! Not quite as good as some other ceremonial grades I've had, but much better than culinary

Exactly what it says on the tin. This is a plain matcha, no fuss, no frills. Just make your latte and get on with your day.

I enjoyed this as an iced latte with a touch of maple syrup to sweeten it a bit since matcha is kind of grassy tasting.

I'm thinking I'm not really a matcha person. This was my first time trying matcha and I think it's too grassy tasting for me. It tastes kinda ok mixed with coconut white tea.

fresh and good quality. Price does always sting lol. Bag always poofs open with extra powder when opened and doesn't seal well tho.

Matcha perfection in every drop! This blend is a masterpiece, weaving together flavors that dance on your taste buds.

Great quality matcha. I'm really happy with the price/quantity I got with my purchase here at Adagio.

First time preparing matcha. A beautiful fine green powder was seen in my sample pouch of matcha! Boy, this stuff gets all over the place and adheres to everything, including your spoon and fingers!

Prep and Steep: I used a clear glass, double-walled eight ounce gran lungo espresso cup. I used the Adagio matcha whisk with one teaspoon of sifted matcha in approximately an ounce of 175°F water. A smooth foam of teeny bubbles was noted. I topped it off with six ounces of 175°F water. I let it steep for one and a half minutes. About ¾ of the foam remained on top of the dark green liquid. I quickly stirred the concoction with a spoon to ensure suspension and no sediment in the bottom of the glass.

Strong vegetal flavors of fresh kale and spinach were noted. Very little bitterness was noted. Buttery flavors were mild. Subtle grassy flavors were noted.

Savory and tasty, but I had to swirl the liquid every so often to keep the matcha suspended! Maybe I didn’t prepare it properly? (1.5 mins @ 175ºF)

Several years ago I gave my little tea-loving grandson a can of matcha and the tools to make the delicious tea for his family. He is sixteen now and has become very adept at creating the tea to the delight of everyone!

I am now in my third trimester of pregnancy and matcha has been a healthy addition to my daily life. Normally, I add it to my almond milk and tsp of monk fruit sweetener, and it is fabulous. Love this, about to run out and planning to buy the big one soon, since I use it so frequently.

This has become one of my favorite teas. It's a lovely dark green when brewed and the flavor is full and deep. I shared some with my mom and she's a convert now, too!

delicious matcha. I make a Latte with raw milk cashews, 1-2 dates for a touch of sweetness and a touch of coconut milk powder, blend with hot water in a high speed blender and enjoy. Top off with a dusting of Cardamom

★★★★★

Solid matcha. Straightforward and typical vegetal/grassy notes, very slight earthy/nuttiness to it, and a hint of soft bitterness. I think it checks all the required boxes of a quality matcha. This is more than good enough for me to keep on hand when I want or someone else wants a mug of matcha. Appropriate preparation is important too. That said, if you're looking for something incredibly unique, you might want to look elsewhere. Final thought, you really should not add anything to this. It's not built for that. If you feel like you need to add some sweetness or turn it into a latte, then just buy a cheaper matcha, which tends to be more assertive. It will save you money and may honestly taste better.

The color was a little darker than expected and it has an odd sweet but bitter aftertaste. I prefer the organic matcha from the republic of tea site compared to this, especially for the price.
