Really, really delicious! Slightly smoky and not too bitter or dry when steeped at a low temperature.

Excellent earthy flavor. I use this tea as an alternative to coffee for an extra boost in the morning. Highly recommended, and will certainly be ordering more.

★★☆☆☆

Definitely an acquired taste. Smells very squashy and somewhat woody. tastes pretty much how it smells. Bitter and overall unpleasant to my tastes. Not something I could drink more than a few sips of on its own. Bought it for blending, though, so maybe that'll do something for it.

★★★★☆

A great yerba mate! This is perfect for a quick pick-me-up if you're trying to avoid caffiene!

★★☆☆☆

I thought it smelled and tasted like grass. I'm glad I only bought a sample. I much prefer the tasted mate, and suggest that over the yerba mate for anyone else who prefers black teas.

★★★☆☆

I knew this would not be my favorite to sip but the effects are good for getting a workout completed or cleaning your house. It doesn't leave you feeling jittery and is very mild.

★★★★☆

My first time trying yerba mate. It was good, but probably not something I'd drink regularly.

★★★★☆

Great sqashy taste though I prefer it in the afternoon or evening as it's a bit strange for morning consumption.

★★★★★

The moment I took the first sip of this tea, I was transported back to to the past. Back to a time when I had an rgentinian roommate, and we drank mate out of her bombilla (the metal straw) and mate gourd. It had that amazing bitter flavor, but not too overpowering.

★★★★★

Very good leafy tea. I tried mixing it with some Ceylon Sonata (to test for my Cylon Blackberry Tea) and it turned out quite well. I feel a lot more confident about that blend now.

★★★★★

Yerba Mate has become a staple in my daily tea drinking, along with all my black teas. dds variety without having the weird grassy taste of green tea.

★★★★☆

I like this tea on its own, but it's even better mixed with a fruit tea!

★★★★★

really grassy and herbal, kind of like green tea.

This was my first time trying mate tea, and I was delightfully impressed. The flavor is unlike any tea I have ever tasted. I brewed this mate for four minutes and added a small amount of sugar. Wonderful flavor!

★★★★☆

This tea is a great morning cup, but I like to add in some Caramel, Cream, Coconut, or other flavored black tea to give it more flavor. The blend is perfect if I add in 2 parts Yerba mate to one part of the black flavored tea. I have so many samples and I love trying the flavors with the basic strong black teas. It is a very good morning cup that gets me going, love the black teas best.

Good general mate. Good plain, or with a bit of honey or amber sugar crystals.

★★★★☆

A light, woody flavor. Not nearly as smoky and earthy as its toasted version, but delicious nonetheless.

★★★★★

I was definitely surprised by this tea. I was unsure what to expect when I picked up a sample, but it had an excellent, mild earthy flavor.
It needs no sweetener to make it excellent.

I really like yerba mate! The plain is not as nice as Adagio's citrus blend but it's still pretty nice.

★★★★★

Mate provides a very unique taste compared to what we traditionally consider to be tea. The difference between bagged/powdered and loose mate is enormous. I was hesitant to try loose mate because of bad experiences with powdered ones, but oh my--the taste.

★★★★☆

Tasty enough, but not very strong. I find it blends well with rooibos for an herby, caffeinated brew. It's hard to describe the flavor by itself.

★★★★☆

I enjoyed the taste of this, though I drink it more for the uplift than expecting an amazing flavor.

★★★★★

I was hesitant about trying this tea, to be honest. Turns out I had nothing to fear- this tea is great! I wasn't sure how a mate would taste (never tried one before), but the sweetness mixed with the herbs was a real tongue-pleaser.

★★☆☆☆

Thought I'd give it a try since I've seen Yerba Mate referenced in a couple different heath books/articles. I couldn't stand it. My morning cup is usually a black or oolong, so that could be why I didn't like it. It was just really bland and flavorless to me. I've started adding a little to my blacks to help use it up.

★★★☆☆

If you need an energy kick, this tea will definitely give it to you. It has an interesting flavor, but the after-taste reminded me of a medicine my pediatrician gave me, and it is unlikely I will try it again.

★★★★☆

This is a really nice version of traditional yerba mate. Definitely a lot less bitter than some of the stuff you can find at the natural foods store.

★★★★☆

Interesting, but a bit bland. Its not particularly bad, but doesn't have any exciting qualities.

★★★★★

What is there to say, one of my all time favorite teas and it tastes better than the yellow packaged one at the store.

Nice to wake up with this tea as a coffee replacement- its also good cold in the afternoon for that 2:30 sleepy cloud that comes over me in the day. Still able to sleep at night.

★★★★☆

I didn't really perceive it to have the caffeine kick people associate with mate, maybe the roasted/darker ones. The flavor is similar to green tea but more grassy and smokey. Not sure if I like smokey with my leafy grassy flavors.

★★★★★

Classic yerba mate. If you like yerba mate this blend is on par with others. It's also about 1/2 the price of what I used to pay at that popular tea store in the mall.

★★★☆☆

Not to my taste. Very woody and interesting, definitely glad I tried it, but I am also very glad I got the sample. I'd say try it small first. It's also pretty messy because the leaves are so small, which isn't that great for work (which is where I drink most of my tea.)

★★★★★

The first thing that came to mind when I opened the bag and smelled the tea was 'nutty' and it really does taste grassy/nutty. I can imagine the toasted or the mocha nut mate would have even more earthy flavor. I still prefer black tea, but this was good for a change, and the caffeine doesn't hurt. I'd like to try the mocha nut flavor next.

I think this one is going to be an acquired taste. I don't dislike it, in fact, I find it refreshing - but it isn't my first choice.

★★★★★

Really good quality mate, very good deal for its price. The only way to ruin its taste and flavor is by pooring boiling water - never do it! :)

I've yet to find a Yerba Mate that I enjoy, but it's easily mixed with flavorful teas... just make sure not to add too much to overpower all the tasty flavors in whatever you're brewing. I'd imagine most people drink this for the supposed health benefits more than for the taste!

★★☆☆☆

I didn't find this tea to be spectacular. It tasted as if I emptied my lawnmower bag into a blender. Looking at the other reviews, people seem to love the grassy taste. I guess it just isn't for me.

★★★★★

This tisane is a wonderful wakeup. Perfect with no sugar or cream, it provides just the right amount of caffeine to get your day going!

★★★★☆

I like the toasted better, but this is good too.

★★☆☆☆

Not sure how to describe the flavor, but it's definitely not something I'll be ordering again. I didn't like it at all.

★★★★☆

I have never had a tea quite like this before! It has a deliciously grassy taste and refreshing astringency. The only reason I haven't given it five stars is because I can't see myself drinking it all the time, definitely a morning brew.

Great herb tea for the morning. Strong, earthy taste. Awesome!

My husband likes this tea for the caffeine kick he gets.

I don't have a lot to say about this tea- I feel neutral about it. Perhaps if I were an experienced mate drinker I'd have a real opinion. This mate does not energize me or have any discernible effect on my system, so I cannot judge it on that quality, either.

★★★★★

I got this to have something that was high in caffine for my mornings, and I must say it has become one of my favorites. The Orange and citrus is not too overpowering and matches the Mate quite well. Thinking about blending it with a strong black tea, see how it comes out.

I did not know what to think about yerba mate at first. After about my 15th cup, I have decided it is may favorite tea. I prefer the citrus and spice, but the plain is good as well. I normally get jittery from drinking too much tea but not with yerba Mate

★★★★☆

It's cut fine. It tastes a bit grassy and sweet but in a different way than green teas. It's not that grassy especially compared to sencha. Mate contains more PAHs than other teas, so it's not good idea to drink while hot. Re-steeping ability isn't great.

Not the best mate, but still good. Not very 'clean' tasting
