im going to have to give this another chance before i totally write it off. its not that i dont like it. im getting a lot of hay/nori flavor from this. not sure if this is something i would drink by itself.
Argentine Yerba Mate with lively, tangy, herbaceous notes. Faint hints of tobacco and grass. Contains caffeine.

This is... different. Not sure that I'm quite a fan of mate tea. I like it mixed with things. It makes a great mix with nuts, cocoa, vanilla, and coffee. But by itself... it's just too different for me.
I've had Mate in the traditional way of drinking it (Which is very strong), and I'd forgotten how much I'd enjoyed it. A nice grassy/herbal smell and flavor. I have mine with a few spoonfuls of sugar (how I drink all my tea.) It is one of my favorite morning teas now. *update* I drink this tea all the time it is my go to drink
Nice surprise. I had never had mate until recently and I absolutely love it.
I've always loved yerba mate, but the one from this site has never failed in making me feel better.
Maybe just not my thing, but it tasted kind of like weak black tea to me, even when steeped to the maximum time.
My husband and I are tea drinkers and this one is perfect for a quick pick-me-up on those mornings its hard to get going!
First time trying mate of any kind and it's just no what I'm used to. A couple cups in and I'm getting more familiar with the grassy taste but I think I may stick to my tried and true black and green teas.
I like it- very earthy, but a little too bitter. It has a wonderful taste though- like you stuck your head right in the garden! The kind of earthy taste I miss from black tea. The energy pick-me-up is gentle and effective too!
I'm not a big fan of herbal teas unless they have a specific fruity flavor, this might be why I didn't find this tea to be all that great
You have to be careful and picky about how you steep it, but it's absolutely worth it. A nice pick me up and a deep, earthy flavor.
I got this as a free sample and really liked it. However, since it said 'herbal' on the package, I didn't know it had caffeine. Oops!
This herbal tea is similar in taste to both genmaicha and barley tea- it's very earthy and is excellent hot or cool. It pairs exceptionally well with honey.
Herbaceous, earthy, and very flavorful. This may be a slightly acquired taste for some, though.
This tea packs a kick! Great for waking up early in the morning.
Pretty nice. Reminds me of a green tea, but has a bitter aftertaste. Still a nice tea.
I was surprised by this herbal tea. It was prepared like a green tea, then iced. Wonderful herbal tea, thanks!
Well, definitely not my tea. Has weird herbal taste, although I like herbal teas a lot...
Could just be me, but I just wasn't able to get into Yerba Mate. I'm glad I tried it, and I can certainly see why some would love this. I just never could get the flavor quite down.
This was my first try at mate, and it has already become one of my favourite teas!
I'm not sure what I expected to taste in this tea, but this wasn't it! It definitely wasn't bad, but it had such a different taste that I'm not used to in teas. It's definitely a good tea to wake you up in place of coffee though!
This tea is great and light. It reminds me of one of the first (good) teas I ever had so major nostalgia points there.
You really have to brew this at 150F. Time doesn't matter as much but rebrewing works well. Brewed right, its unique and too easy to drink. The flavor is different than tea and addictive. It also has a ton of caffeine so if you can't have a lot like me, be careful. One teaspoon really wakes me up like a strong black tea or coffee, but not as intense or jittery. It seems to last longer but If I make again with new leaves the same day its like having coffee which is too much caffeine for me.
I love this tea. It reminds me a bit of green tea, with a mild flavo and nice colour. Goes great with honey.
I'm really enjoying this yerba mate. I was informed by Adagio customer service that this mate is roasted in a similar fashion to that of coffee beans and not smoke dried. So that's another plus as far as health benefits go.
This one was ok. I wasn't a fan. Perhaps if it was blended with something? I could see if going well with some kind of citrus or other fruit.
I looove this tea. It gives you a great pick me up and brightens your mind. Smooth too!
Light, grassy, yerba! It's best to use with a gourd and bombilla, but is enjoyable brewed like any other tea.
Good. Doesn't have a lot of flavor but enjoyable. It was my first time trying this infusion so I'm not sure what it is supposed to taste like. Kind of a nondescript herbal tea.
This tastes like most yerba mate I have had, and has the characteristic addictive quality that mate produces in someone who generally sticks to green tea.
Next time I want mate I will definitely consider this.
Yerba Mate is a strange tea that I really seem to have a hard time developing a taste for. It is not bad, just really odd and a little fascinating.
In the end, it's mate. It's pretty middle-of-the-road quality, but comes at an excellent price, considering. It can start tasting kinda waxy if you let it steep too long-- know that this isn't like other herbal teas where you can just leave them steeping forever.
I don't love the taste of mate, but the energy boost is great. I'll continue to drink this for that reason.
This is much less acidic tasting than the mate I've bought in bags at other places. It's very smooth and the second cup is just as strong as the first. I really like it.
An interesting flavor, herbal with a slightly biting aroma.
Not the sort of flavor I was expecting, and less caffeine as well. Good with agave nectar.
I don't care much for the grassy taste by itself, but it tastes rather refreshing mixed with peppermint leaves.
Wow! I was very surprised at this. This is my first time at an herbal and this is truly enticing me to really explore more herbal teas. The smell as soon as you open up the bag is astonishing. Very good and don't have to wait for it to steep too long. Try it out you won't be disappointed.
This is a great yerba mate! Tastes great with a little sugar.
Yerba Mate is my favorite 'go to' tea and this one does not let me down.
A friend who is doing paleo and needed to stop drinking coffee suggested this. It will NEVER EVER replace coffee for me, but it is a nice tea. I can see it *maybe* replacing the 2nd cup of coffee each day due to it's health benefits.
A very basic yerba mate flavor. It is very fine and my tea ball leaked some of the powder out. So you will need a very fine mesh or coffee filter. Good punch of energy.
While not the pretiest tea, it tastes nice and earthy, and goodness it gives you a nice burst of energy.
very fresh, almost grassy taste. I feel as though something's missing, though -- wish this site had a lemon yerba mate.
Nice subtle taste.
Although I'd used yerba mate in a few blends in the past, I'd never really tried it on its own until now. And I can't believe what I was denying myself! The description is absolutely correct in saying that yerba is a bit like green tea only without the bitterness. It has a grassy, sweet taste that isn't sharp like actual grass or overpowering. The caffeine content seems to be about the same to me as a cup of green tea as well (though clearly I haven't measured it--I'm just going by what my body feels like after I drink either kind). This is an absolutely delicious tea, and I'm looking forward to using it in more blends, and to trying the other kinds of it alone.
A very interesting flavor! I think I personally prefer the toasted variety, but I still enjoyed this greatly.
Sweet and fresh. Not nearly as bitter as some I've had in the past.
I was excited to try this free sample. The sample wasn't powdery like I have read yerba mate is described as being. However, it was a really good cup of tea. I will definitely buy this tea in the future.
This was my first time trying yerba mate. Based on the smell of the dry leaves I wasn't expecting to like it. But once I prepared it, I was very pleasantly surprised with the taste. It is very light and fresh tasting. I recommend!
