I really wanted to try this one based on the previous reviews, so I got a sample of it, even though I am not a huge fan of hazelnut (really not). It wasn't love at first sip, but I was pleasantly surprised! May not order again, but did thoroughly enjoy. Thanks Adagio! :)

★★★☆☆

It tastes ok in my opinion. I feel like the chocolate and hazelnut flavors don't add to the mate flavor. Its worth noting that I boiled the tea at 160 F instead of 150 F because my kettle only has a few presets.

This tea had has a pretty different flavor from what I imagined. It had an almost too rich chocolate flavor. As long as you tone it down with milk, it's pretty good.

★★★☆☆

This blend has a very unique flavor to it, and I'm still undecided about it. I think I would enjoy it more without the hazelnut, but that's just my personal preference.

★★★★☆

Very yummy and strong smell roasty hazelnut with tones of chocolate coming from the bag. Great alternative if you need some caffeine. I do have to say it takes a little bit of playing with when using this tea in blends. You don't want it to overpower the other teas. And make sure not to over-steep!

I like this tea a lot and would purchase again but I don't seem to get the hazelnut flavor... Slight chocolate flavor and delicious taste but I'd classify it's taste more along a chai because I can swear I taste cardamom and almost a cinnamon flavor. This time I sweetened it and used some milk but next time I will try it black to see if its different because I think it's slightly sweet on its own.

★★★☆☆

This tea, to me, tasted like nutella. If you enjoy chocolate hazelnut this is a great tea for you but to me it was not the best.

The first time I tried it, it wasn't quite strong enough for me. I steeped it with 1.25 teaspoons per cup rather than 1 and that really did the trick. This one is great with honey!

★★★★☆

wonderful nutty aroma, admittedly more nutty than mocha, but still fragrance and not too overwhelming. I don't like mate so much, because most of the ones I've tried had a weird, muddied flavor. this one does not. instead, it has a nice and smooth texture. that said, I accidentally steeped it for too once, may be about 5 minutes, and it turned bitter.

★★★★★

I've not had mate before this, and decided I absolutely had to fix this situation. It's so delicious! The light energetic flavour of tea with the more savoury flavour of coffee. A great buy.

★★★★★

i really like the mocha nut mate, drinking it for breakfast right now

★★★★☆

This smells amazing but I recommend adding a bit of milk and sugar.

★★☆☆☆

This is my first mate tea. I figured I'd go with a chocolatey type and I would be safe. I just really did not like this tea. It doesn't smell appealing at all, and it's taste reminded me of dirt sort of. I'm not sure if I am steeping it wrong or what. I've only tried to make it once so far, so maybe I'll play with the temps and timing and seenif I can get it to taste a bit better. Maybe Mate tea just isn't my thing.

★★☆☆☆

Don't let the aroma fool you! Smells delightful, but the flavor is lost when it's steeped. Tastes like any other toasted mate, but with only the faintest hint of its mocha tagline.

★★★★★

This smells divine. From bag to brew, this tea permeates with a delightful cocoa and nutty aroma with a warm, comforting chicory-toastiness lingering beneath the surface. The flavor profile is surprisingly mellow compared to the nose. Echoes of chocolate and hazelnut are present, but the toasted mate really shines through on the palate with a refreshingly-cool aftertaste. Steeped at 160 because my PerfecTemp doesn't boil to the recommended 150, but I find 160 works just fine. Probably one of my favorite teas I've sampled to date.

I decided to try this as a coffee replacement. It has a great balance of hazelnut and chocolate flavors. It reminded me of hazelnut coffee. It definitely gave me the caffeine boost I need without the intensity of coffee.

Mate isn't my usual drink of choice, but this one sounded pretty good. It really does have a nice mocha flavor to it, but I don't think it compliments the mate flavor as well as it could. Still a decent drink and I enjoyed trying it out.

★★★☆☆

For anything with the name 'Mocha Nut,' I'm going to have a certain set of expectations going in, and this doesn't quite measure up. The chocolate and nut flavors are present, but anemic. I just don't think that toasted mate is a strong enough backbone for the kinds of rich flavors they're going for here. That said, this would still deliver a decent caffeine kick for someone who really hates coffee.

I tried this at Adagio's retail store in Naperville, IL when I was visiting my family in Chicago. I was so excited. Many years ago I had to give up coffee for various reasons. When I drank this for the first time I looked at the woman serving us and said 'thank you! You just gave me back coffee!' This tastes, to me, exactly like hazelnut coffee. While it differs in consistency, the taste is remarkable. I love it!

Moderately sweet without over doing it, strong hazelnut flavor with soft Yerba Mate finish. Highly drinkable and great as a coffee replacement. I enjoy it plain without sugar or milk but I think both would go well in this tea.
**I went on to order 3 ounces of this tea and the flavor is incredibly different. It's not nearly as sweet as the sample packs were and the hazelnut has an old/artificial taste to it. I'm giving serious thought as to whether I'll even order this again. I can't believe the flavor variance!

A lot of the reviews seem to point to this tea as a great alternative to dessert, and the fct of the matter is that they're absolutely right, because there is something decidedly decadent about it. First of all, it smells fantastic - the second I opened the pouch, I knew I was going to be delighted - and it tastes just as good. The balance of hazelnut and chocolate is perfect, and this tea is definitely a winner.

This is my favorite mate. It's wonderful. Though as a disclaimer I only like mate with additives (coffee creamers), but it makes such a great base! It literally causes me euphoria...

I bought this as a coffee alternative, I don't think I'll reorder. I may try another mate but this one is almost too much hazelnut and not enough mocha.. (update) I want to add I've tried this one a few times and have played with temps but after a few sips the hazelnut becomes overwhelming (rather than beginning to blend on the palate and fade a little like most flavored teas) and for me it is excessive and a little artificial tasting.

Kick start the day with this blend! It's also great with a hint of milk/ cream to create the sensation of a latte without the harsh coffee!

I didn't think I would enjoy this tea, but it surprised me. I enjoy it's flavor more than coffee.

★★★★☆

Mocha nut mate is a good, flavorful blend that has a similar mouth feel to coffee, but I feel lacks depth. I have tried it blended with various black teas and that really enhances the flavors and lets this tea act as a real coffee substitute with a nice nutty, earthy flavor and a chocolatey after taste.

A strong flavor without being overwhelming. You can taste the mate as well as other flavors. Great with milk and even blended with other teas. It still tastes great when steeped up to 175 degrees.

This tea is AMAZING-- great sub for coffee, especially in the summer. It's light but still packs a good amount of caffeine for waking up. Plus, it has CHOCOLATE CHIPS in it...and what gets better than chocolate at breakfast? This is definitely going to be a staple.
My only recommendation is to be VERY careful not to use water hotter than the temp recommended on the bag..otherwise you'll just end up with a bitter, burnt mess.

This was my first mate, though I definitely intend to try others. It definitely did remind me of coffee, which I don't usually drink, but when I added just the slightest amount of honey and some cream... BAM! - how delicious is this tea? Even a slight sweetness brings out a really pleasant complexity of flavors, and I was thrilled with how luxurious and satisfying my quickly improvised latte turned out to be. Coffee shop, schnoffee shop! One teaspoon of loose tea and a little bit of milk, and you've got something that tastes like $4, made right at home, where you don't even have to brush your hair if you don't want to.

In the long run, I'd really like to try the Mocha Nut Mate crossed with the Chestnut black, which is my favorite nut-flavored black tea so far. I think the result would have such warmth and depth. On the other hand, I do *not* recommend this tea crossed with the Strawberry black. Probably no one else would try that, anyway, so perhaps it goes without saying. But I guess I'm a person who'll try anything once? (Never again!)

Very pleasant and mellow tea. I had it with just a little bit of sugar, and it was really great as a breakfast tea. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the flavor is a little more subtle than I would prefer.

What an interesting blend. I would advise buyers to take heed of the steeping time and temp on the bag: any temp over 150 (and especially over 170) will net you a tea that tastes... like coffee, if you turned it into tea. This isn't a bad thing! But it certainly was intriguing. Steep it at 150 and you've got yourself a complex cup with heavenly chocolate and chicory notes, none of which overpower the other. Great buy.

★★★★☆

A good coffee substitute. With cream and sugar, the chocolate flavor was more noticeable, and it tasted a bit like a mocha latte.

★★★★★

Our chocolate cravings are subdued after drinking this little gem. We like to drink it when we are in a hurry in the morning and have to to drink something quick that is not very hot. We would not recommend drinking it at night because this has more caffeine than tea but less than coffee.

This tea was bitter and way to strong for my tastes.

★★★★☆

A lovely chocolatey taste that doesn't overwhelm the distinct mate flavor. A really good dessert tea!

★★★★★

This being my first experience with mate I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of flavor that this tea offered

I love this blend. I prefer it over a latte because of the subtlety of the delicious flavors- toasty hazelnut with a hint of chocolate.

I'm definitely not a mate fan. Too odd of a flavor. I didn't love it or like it, it was just okay. I wouldn't buy it. Glad it was a freebie with a purchase. So glad Adagio offers freebies for us to try rather than buy and dislike.

This is an outstanding replacement for another tea company I choose to no longer frequent's mate blend. This was outstanding slightly sweetened.

YUM YUM YUM!!! This tea does perfect with a chocolate chip cookie or a fresh shortbread cookie. I also added coco nips to it- great.

The Mocha Nut Mate is divine. This was such a great purchase! The smell and taste is just pure bliss. I think this is pretty good tea for someone who isn't into fruity teas. I usually drink Black/Oolong/Green/Chai teas and honestly this tea fits in.

My husband and I love this as an alternative to coffee. It's got a great nutty flavor, without being bitter.

★★★★☆

Has a nice coffee flavor, but still doesn't overpower the mate.

★★★☆☆

I am a huge coffee fan so I thought this would be a nice cross over between that and tea. However, it did not live up to excpectations. I didn't add any milk or sugar so maybe that would help, but there just seemed to be too much going on and they flavors didn't really come together for me. Okay, not great.

★★★☆☆

This has a strong, slightly nutty flavor. Definitely reminds me a bit of mocha coffee, except smoother. I'm not a big fan of mocha flavors, so this tea isn't something I would buy for myself again.

★★★☆☆

Keeping in mind I'm not a fan of the flavor of coffee, this tea just doesn't do it for me. I gave it to a friend who loves coffee and she loves this tea, making multiple cups a day. :) Perhaps it's a coffee lover thing. .D

★★★★★

Mocha Nut Mate is great alone or in blends - especially with chocolate or cinnamon!

★★★★☆

I got this as the lesser of evils while picking a free sample. I was really surprised when I took that first sip! I am not normally a fan of mocha flavored tea at all but this is subtle. All of the flavors are subtle. Fantastic scent evocative of a good pipe store. :) Really a very nice change of pace for me.
