★★☆☆☆

Reading some of the reviews I thought it would be better. I did not enjoy this tea.

★★★★★

I have tried three similar mate teas from Teavana, and this has to be my favorite. Perfect breakfast tea or late night companion when you're burning the midnight oil for any of the many reasons we all have.

★★★★★

Updating my previously poor review. I adjusted this one a bit more to my tastes and ended up REALLY enjoying it. First time I tried it, I used the recommended 1tsp per cup, plus I added a bit of sugar, and while it smelled good it just didn't seem to have any flavor. This time I used 2tsp per cup, steeped for 7 minutes, and added sugar and a bit of cream. Apparently I just like my tea stronger than I realized. Anyway - very tasty, loved it!

I love this tea. I brewed it for only 3 minutes, but I'm going to start brewing it longer,to find the perfect time. This tasted of chocolate and I love it. I did sweeten it a bit too much, but it was very good.

Makes a great alternative to coffee despite tasting nothing like coffee. This tea is sweet, strong, and mellow like the ideal boyfriend.

★★★★☆

I liked this one quite a bit. If you're looking for a coffee-like mate, this was a very good one. I preferred a couple other teas for coffee substitution (namely Anderson from the Mass Effect sampler). However, mate's effect is different from black tea, so this will be the coffee sub tea of choice for some people.

I didn't taste any of the nut or chocolate flavors I was hoping to find. Instead I got a muddy taste.

This satisfied the chocolate lover in me. smooth, warm, sweet, and it had the nice toasty quality that's almost coffee-like, but without all the bitter nastiness. This is a keeper.

★★★★★

I made the mistake of brewing this tea at the wrong temperature the first time I tried it, so it ended up being awful. Now when I brew it at the right temperature, I love it!

This tea was... ok. I just don't think I am a huge mate fan. I'll finish the sample but I don't believe I'll be ordering this again.

★★★★★

Very good. This tea is my first experience with mocha flavored and related teas, and I really enjoy it. Highly recommended.

★★★★★

This is SO TASTY! Very earthy with a slight chocolately sweetness, perfect for me because I'm very picky about how much sweet is in my tea. Not sure I would drink it by itself very often, but it's glorious for blending.

★★☆☆☆

Not a fan. It tastes like a bad watered down coffee.

★★★★☆

This is quite good in the morning, though it does feel like there is something missing. I like to mix it with vanilla black tea.

I'm not a hazelnut fan so I didn't like this very much, but it smells similar to the hazelnut coffee my husband likes. I wouldn't touch hazelnut coffee with a ten-foot pole so I'm not sure exactly how similar the flavor is.

★★★☆☆

It ended up kinda watery for me, so I'll have to give this another go. From what I tasted, it's not bad and I'll try it again, steeping it longer and in hotter water.

★★★★★

This is personally one of my all-time favorite chocolate teas. The flavor is hearty, but not overwhelming (in an aggressive kind of way). Chocolate and hazelnut feel very natural with the mate. ultimately creating a very unique earthy-chocolatey tea that's not overstated.

★★★★★

Easily comparable to Teavana's 'My Morning Mate,' a favorite of mine! Very nutty and rich with strong undertones of chocolate, which makes for an excellent morning pick-me-up. It's absolutely divine with sugar and soy milk.

I find this to be a pretty drinkable mate, but it is not a very complex flavor. It tastes like roasted cocoa and the roasted mate. I do find this gives me energy, and I like that its drinkable (whereas I find some other mates, especially plain mate, to not be very enjoyable at all) However, it is a little boring to me, and the roasted cocoa/mate flavor gets tiresome after a while. But that's just me, my taste buds are very picky and I tire of certain flavors very quickly. This would be a great tea for you to try if you are looking for a mate that is simpler in flavor and not full of different ingredients, but is still more flavorful than plain mate. I only rate this as 'ok' for me, but for others, this will probably be a home run!

★★★★★

I mix this into everything! Alone, it's a solid cup of a very very very lightly smoky tea (nowhere NEAR Lapsang souchang) with a nice smoothness to it, but it adds some nice body (and caffeine) to green teas as well. I honestly didn't notice much of a flavor difference between this and the toasted mate, but the mocha smell is lovely.

★★★★☆

The nut flavors are very prominent and at first I couldn't taste the mocha at all... but it kind of sneaks in on the back of your tongue. It's very rich, so it probably won't be a tea I choose very often, but it's a nice decadent cup and would make a great morning cuppa :)

I thoroughly enjoyed this tea, my first mate. This tea has a bold flavor that the name of this name describes perfectly. I love the hazelnut. This tea resteeps very nicely, which makes it a great bargin. I will definitely be getting this one again. I only have a minor quibble with small size of the tea leaves/twigs/etc. It makes cleaning out my infuser a little more difficult than other teas as particles tend to get caught up in the mesh a bit. Well worth the extra effort though.

I despise this tea...it's far too earthy (all mates are for me) I really thought with the mocha nut it would help it out a bit but no. On the other hand, it is my husbands new favorite tea.

Great for anyone looking for a coffee replacement, gives you a really nice caffeine buzz and it taste as close to coffee as you can get in a tea haha (: (at least from what I've tried!!) Definitely a winner in my book!

★☆☆☆☆

Blech! Just awful! This tea just has a bland muddy taste to me. It's not the kinda thing I look for in my tea at all.

★★★★☆

This tea tastes a lot like a mocha coffee without any of the bitterness that would normally come along with it.

I like this, but I think that the aroma of the tea is much more satisfying than actually drinking it. It's a smooth cup of deliciousness though, so no complaints here.

A very good tea. Pleasantly malty, with a very subtle (and very nice) chocolatey undertone. Recommend using a tea bag rather than an infuser, though, since the blend is so fine.

★★★★★

This tea has a warm taste with a faint mocha flavor. My oe complaint is that the leaves are very fine and require an extremely fine filter to ensure that leaves are not floating in the tea. However, it's an overall good tea. It is a perfect morning caffeine boost for a non-coffee drinker like myself.

★★★★★

Wow! Very bold, yet well balanced aroma. This would be a great mate for someone trying to switch from coffee.

Love the smell, but the taste isn't really there I guess? Good in blends, not a recommended tea (my opinion only!) by itself. But the smell! ::inhales::

★★★★★

One of my favorites. You don't need that much for a lot of flavor. I took some advice about using a lower temp to brew this tea at, and it really brought out that chocolate flavor.

★★★★☆

Really liked this mate. It was a different experience than others but one I gladly enjoyed. Be careful of its kick!

★★★☆☆

This makes a nice breakfast tea because of the caffeine. I thought it needed some sweetener the first time I tried it. I second time I added sugar and decided it was much bigger the first time unsweetened

★★★☆☆

This tea was ok. I really like the mocha flavor but prefer black tea to this.

★★★★★

I like coffee, but it's usually a bit too much caffeine for me. Plus, there's only one cafe that makes it the way I like so that it's not overly bitter. So this tea is a great substitute if you enjoy coffee flavors and smells but don't want to actually drink coffee. There's a really nice added kick of hazelnut, and subtle hints of chocolate in the aftertaste. I got only a little bit as a sampler, but I'll definitely be ordering more of this one in future.

★★★★☆

The smell while brewing was chocolate, but upon drinking I find the nut taste comes though much more strongly than the chocolate. That's not a bad thing. In the end, with some cream, it tastes nutty and sweet.

★★★★☆

Let me begin by saying: This tea is great. With that out of the way we will get right into my only criticism, the brew temp/instructions.

For my initial cup I followed, as always, the suggested brewing practice. This being my first 'mate' tea I didn't want to screw anything up. However it seems I was mislead as this led to a poorly steeped poorly flavored cup of water. unworthy of the moniker 'tea'.

I just brewed my second cup and this time I went all out. I increased the amount of tea to two spoonfuls and topped out the hot water machine at work to 203F. Steeping for five minutes I got the cup of tea I expected. A dark, full body, almost coffee tasting beverage. Notes of hazelnut and cocoa are now clearly present and commanding the cup.

Overall I have no doubt I will order more of this. I would have loved to give this tea a 'great' rating, but given that the provided instructions lead me astray, I have to reign back my review and settle for a 'good' rating.

Buy this tea if your looking for a coffee fix that can be made in your favorite steeper, but be sure to experiment with the instructions to ensure your getting the best results.

I wasn't really a big fan of this one. I wanted to like it more. I wish a chocolate flavor was more prominent. Without milk, though, it tastes almost exactly like coffee. I'll try brewing it again with a different temperature and brewing time.

★★★★★

I absolutely loved this tea. I was looking for a rich, decadent flavor to help me curb my coffee cravings. This is an excellent dessert tea, and I found that it curbed my appetite.

I like nutty flavors and loved this. The nutty flavor is over whelming and I love it.

This would be amazing without the hazelnut. I guess I just never really liked that flavor, lol.

I do not know what is done to this during prep, but I threw mine in the trash. Thankfully Adagio has sample sizes to aid in testing.

★★★★☆

I've never had a mate tea before, but I decided to try this one as a free sample. It smells almost EXACTLY like Nutella in the bag, and tastes just like it when brewed! It's good, but probably not something I'll drink every day--especially since the loose leaves are going to be a pain to get out of my Ingenuitea.

★★★★★

This tea is great. It smells and tastes like chocolate chip cookies!

★☆☆☆☆

Not my cup of tea. It's very bitter and smells bad.

★★★★★

I usually don't like mate but this stuff is great! Good, steady caffeine buzz and a lovely chocolatey-nutty flavor!

I got this to see if I would like it as a coffee substitute, but wasn't as thrilled as I wanted to be. Instead I am going with Cream Black mixed with Honeybush Chocolate for a little morning pick-me-up.

★★★★☆

I followed brew instructions and found the tea to be weak, so I mixed with Hazelnut Honeybush tea and brewed to about three times the suggested amount of tea... Now we're talking! Added sugar and I feel like I finally have all the flavor without the bitterness of coffee.
