CommuniTEA Sample: I'm usually hit or miss with Mate blends, but this one is quite good. The toasted notes and the cocoa/chocolate pair together very well. A very enjoyable sip. This is a bit high in caffeine, so probably not best top sip this on an empty stomach.

This pleasantly surprised me. Mate is newer to me and I haven’t quite figured out the subtleties between toasted and not. This blend is nice, coffee-like with an earthy, chocolatey, nutty flavor. I believe I have an unopened sample pack of this beyond the communitea share so I’m going to try this with milk as suggested.

This one has become quite a favorite for both me and my husband. We brew it longer and a little hotter than the package recommends. It pairs extremely well with any type of cream, though my favorite has been a sugar-free peppermint chocolate creamer.

first tried this when it was in one of the advent calendars. it very quickly became a favorite of mine. not only does it pack a punch, the nutty warm flavors work so well together, making the tea such a delight to drink at any time of day. which ya know, isn't the best when its 8pm, I've got to go to sleep, and I'm sitting down to a nice mug of this.

Okay so I am not totally sure what the caffeine level is for this tea, but after a few sips leaving my heart racing, I am going to guess quite high, more-so than my black teas and probably closer to an espresso shot. The flavor was fine, if weak, but the level of caffeine was so much I've been hesitant to reach for a second cup. I would avoid if you're trying to be careful about your caffeine intake, and if you're looking for caffeination--well. Maybe this is for you! Were I to make it again I think I'd plan to drink it cold so the weak flavor didn't feel so incongruous.

Mocha nut mate will make you feel cozy and indulgent. This decadent blend has a rich aroma of chocolate and hazelnut, and a smooth and satisfying taste reminisent of nutella. The toasted mate provides a natural boost of caffeine and antioxidants, while the chocolate and hazelnut add a natural sweetness and creaminess. Mocha nut mate is a tea that will make you feel like you are enjoying a chocolate hazelnut cake, or a toast with nutella.

It’s not bad, but as someone who isn’t a fan of mate tea- this was a miss for me.

My first time trying mate: it was pretty good, and this blend is a nice flavor mix. I think I prefer mate mixed with black tea because mate on its own seems a little thin flavor-wise.

Definitely my favorite tea so far. Tastes amazing.

My Husband loves it, yet says it doesn’t hold up very well for a second steeping. He likes it’s high caffeine also.

My favorite daily tea with a bit of sweet the chocolate really comes through and it's very satisfying. Without the sweet, it's very coffee-like and you miss the subtle background that brings it all together.

Nutty hazelnut flavor with a hint of chocolate. A little weak or watered down but a splash of cream helps wake it up.

Such an amazing tea. Oh I love it. There's this chocolate Ness to it that makes it so good to have towards the end of the night instead of raiding the cabinet for something else (we haven't had cookies which are my go to). Don't really need any rock sugar. I'll only drink it hot though.

It's not really Adagio's fault - I just don't like the flavor of hazelnut. The hazelnut flavor is really strong and overwhelms all the other flavors.

Great coffee substitute. Has a nice nutty chocolate flavor, very good with milk and sweetener. Gives a nice boost of energy in the morning.

This mate is a comforting pick me up! There are a lot of roasty toasty flavors. I don't get too much chocolate but I'm okay with that

I really enjoyed this mate and the energy it provided. The flavor was right up my alley with notes of chocolate and hazelnut!

This is a tea that I have purchased several times. It has a lovely nutty aroma and the toasted mate is delicious. With the high caffeine content and distinctive flavor I would not classify this as an anytime tea, but when you pull it out at the right moment it is fabulous!

There are some mates that I have enjoyed in the past but I have to say I’m not a fan of this one. It was drinkable and maybe would have been tastier if I had added something to it. It is not a tea I will be buying but I’m glad I had the opportunity to try it.

I adore the mocha nut mate! There's a nutty toastiness that blends really well with the cocoa notes.

What a lovely treat. Upon steeping as per instructions, it was a little blah on the pallet. However, a quarter teaspoon of clover honey and a splash of 2% milk (that's all I had in the house, as I would have preferred half and half) brought out the perfect blend of hazelnut, chocolate and toasty mate.
BEWARE: this herbal tea is HIGH CAFFEINE!

CT 9/8/23 update. I added some cocoa nibs to the packet and that additional chocolate made this tea much better for me!This was a little more on the nutty flavor side than I prefer. Second steep calmed that some but I would have liked more chocolate flavor.

A delicious toasted mate! It's nuttty with a touch of chocolate and coffee. I like to drink this instead of coffee since it doesn't give me the jitters.

I'm a Mate girl, in the Mate world...
Oh yes, I do love me some mate! Coffee? No way! Mate may be a coffee wannabe, but gives me no jitters, just glorious caffeine! The chocolate and toastiness of the hazelnut is delicious. I take it hardcore plain, doesn't need any additives. And, it's fantastic blended with other like minded teas!

Just WOW! This SMELLS incredible! I hope it tastes nearly as good as it smells.
Ok, so it smells way better than it tastes - but that's ok! It still tastes great, just a bit light on the mocha and the nut. The toastiness of the mate shines through and surprisingly almost tastes like toast. I don't see myself drinking this straight, as it's just a bit too light in flavor for me for that. But, the flavor is quite enjoyable and I'll def put it in some colder weather blends,

Meh, I haven't tried much mate but even taking other comments into consideration (which noted not to brew at a high temp but that it often came out tasting weak) and brewing this for a full 5 minutes at 160* only using 8 oz of water... it tasted like a weak hazelnut tea. Extremely light flavor, no chocolate / mocha flavor, and I'm sure someone likes that but I don't see the point, personally. Only the sweet scent and actual taste of hazelnut saved this from a 1-2 star review

I love a good mate, the caffeine delivery in mate is way different than others, I don't get that 'crash' like I do with coffee or tea, the flavor here is amazing, the hazelnut and chocolate give this an almost coffee like flavor, very nice.

Updated from 10/1/22: I love hazelnut anything and I enjoy mate teas. This had both good things together, though it was a little thin in flavour to me in the first steep, so I thought maybe I had too much water. In my second steep with less water, it was about the same, so perhaps it just doesn't hold up to multiple steeps. I think I like the ciccoricino better. Steeped 4 min @ 150º.

It's chocolatey and nutty as advertised! I had this before in the coffee lovers sampler pack, and enjoyed it then, as well. I'll have to get more to keep it on hand.
I like using this one for blends as well, to add some chocolatey goodness to some black teas.

It smells amazing! I was nervous about the reviews saying this has a coffee flavor, but I didn't need to worry, it was no more than a hint. This tea is very flavorful, with toasty malt, hazelnut, and chocolate coming through (but not too much chocolate - just enough). A fleeting hint of mocha aftertaste left in the mouth. I added oatmilk to a cup, but found I preferred this tea without anything added. Tastes much better hot than cold.
Update 2023.09: Updating my rating to 5 stars. I really love the flavor of toasted mate and this has become a tea that I always keep on hand. I enjoy it in the fall and winter.

I enjoyed this one. I'm still on the fence about mate in general and toasted mate in particular, but this worked. Of course I would probably say that about anything with chocolate and hazelnut! Nom

I think I got more sensitive to caffeine the older I get, I could definitely feel it kick in from the mate. The flavors here are tasty and nutty. A 'not-as-bold' coffee alternative that's more like a lighter tea, but tastes great!

I used 2 teaspoons instead of one because I like strong flavors. I would probably let it steep longer next time. I am trying to find something that will replace my desire for coffee. I don't think anything will, but this is a nice alternative. I think if I could get it as strong as coffee I would love it. Definitely tastes chocolatey and I love the nuttiness.

Gotta tell ya, I did not expect to like this tea. Mate and I have not gotten along in the past, but the flavor combination plus the great reviews gave me the push to give it a try. This is a fabulous tea! Wonderful flavor and richness, good with a bit of milk/maple syrup but equally as good on its own. I did not get as good as experience on a second steep, but the fact that I enjoyed it at all is a huge surprise so I'm fine with that!
Update - the third time I made the tea it gave me the jitters, so I guess mate and I aren't friends just yet, but I enjoyed the two cups that didn't hit me that way very much!
★★★★★
Surprisingly delicious! I wasn't sure about mate, but the hazelnut really helps to even out the more burnt tones of it and hone it into something dark but not dirty, if that makes sense. The chocolate is light, but you get hints of it here and there.

I had higherhopes for this tea than what I got out of it. I love a good dessert tasting tea and that was my expectation with this blend, but I found it to be fairly weak in flavor. I would love to try it double strength, but due to pregnancy I am watching my caffeine intake. I will definitely be trying this one again postpartum.
