This is great. It smells like hot cocoa in the pouch and tastes almost like it once it's brewed. I think, if I were to brew it double strong and then add milk and sugar it would taste exactly like hot cocoa. (I say that because I did all of those things except the double strong and it tastes like watery hot cocoa. In a surprisingly not-awful way.)
Interesting flavor. I really like this one hot with some almond milk.

SO GOOD. I'm not even sure how to describe how good it is - the smell of it is exactly what it tastes like. Nutty and a little bit chocolate-y and just the right amount of flavor. Just perfect.
Overall good, though not as strong of a chocolate taste as I've had in other teas from Adagio.

This is my first time trying this type of tea. I am still a bit unfamiliar with mate tea. This is prefect for a cozy Winter night or to drink in place of a sugary dessert.

If you don't particularly love the bitterness of coffee but love the smell, this tea is for you. I found if I added a couple pinches of sugar to a large mug and a splash of milk, it was warm and had hints of chocolate. Good, strong. Highly recommend.
This reminds me of the teavana matevana, but at half the price! It is chocolate with a distinct mate taste.
Reminds me of a smoother chocolate hazelnut coffee but not bitter and not as heavy. I cant wait to try more of it!

I've tried mates in the past and was not a big fan, this one however is delicious. It has a high caffiene count too, which is good for me. It almost feels like a dark near-coffee
This was ok, nothing like the promise of coffee as a few reviewers mentioned. In fact I found it to be weak.
This is an extremely rich cup of tea. If you're in the mood for something dark and very chocolatey, this blend is for you. There was a layer to this blend that I can't put my finger on, almost like damp earth that made this a little odd for me. I added a touch of cream and it became very velvety and more palatable for my tastes. Not a bad blend overall, but not my favorite, something I could drink occasionally when I need something a little richer.
So nutty! I like it but sometimes I was overwhelmed by the flavors. So I don't know if I would buy it again.

Maybe my sample packet was bad, but this tasted nothing like described or expected. The only flavor I could detect was a very earthy note, more like over steeped pu erh than anything.

This was ok, I didn't love it. A bit on the bland side, I was looking for something more chocolaty. I read that mate might have negative health stuff, so, for the fact that the flavor isn't amazing, I'm not going to get more of this.

Exceeded my expectations. After my bad experience with rooibos, I was not expecting a non-standard tea (like a Mate) to be able to compete with some of my favorites for flavor. Wonderfully, I was proven wrong.
I actually mixed this to make a mate I would love for my mornings when I lack energy.I can taste this tea even after mixing it. I like it a lot.

This is a great mate to try if you've enjoyed other chocolate mate. Great first thing in the morning.
The only trouble I have, and this is true for all loose mates I've tried, is that my infuser doesn't seem to have a fine enough mesh to keep it fully contained. So you might get a little sediment at the end of your cup but it's a small price to pay.
Subtle nuttiness and delicate sweetness make this tea great for morning or an afternoon pick me up. Great substitute when you're in the mood for coffee.

This is a great morning tea. It has a honey mouthfeel and a full bodied flavor that is a good balance of nutty and sweet with a slight hint of smoke, but not overwhelming.

This is so much different than any other tea I have tasted. The flavors are subtile, but the tea is strong. Don't oversteep! I just had t throw a cup out from doing that. It was way too strong!
The 'mocha' flavor was very chalky and was reminiscent of Necco 'chocolate' wafer candies. This was so bad no one in the house would drink it.
This is my new afternoon pick me up. I made 3 cups today. It has a warm, nutty flavor...similar to coffee. I love it!!! I even purchased the gourd for my husband.

Disarmingly coffee-like smell. The taste is much milder, but the nutty chocolate flavor is great, especially with almond milk and a bit of raw sugar. I suspect its marvelous in blends, and I love drinking it in the morning as a coffee substitute!
I ordered this and the toasted mate because I'm trying to drink less coffee and I'd read that the mate is a good alternative. I did have to add a little more than the steeping instructions suggested to make it strong enough for my taste. I often drink it without adding anything, but I've also tried it with a splash of milk. It's good both ways!
