★★★☆☆

Not bad, but I mostly tasted the smoke and hazelnut. I would've liked more spice, and the orange was extremely subtle.

I'm probably on the minority, but I love lapsang souchong tea. I find the smokiness relaxing and the taste amazing. This one, to me, has just a very slight smoky taste and the citrus adds a nice dimension along with the tiny after-bite the peppercorn flavor provides! Love it!

I had never had Lapsang Souchong before trying this tea, and I don’t care for black tea in general, but I thought I’d try it. The strong smoky SCENT is a little strange — almost off-putting — but it isn’t quite as obvious in the flavor. I found the spice, citrus, and nuttiness to be nicely balanced against the slight smokiness on the palate. Overall, a very unique tea, but one that I found quite enjoyable.

I am not a fan of the smoked taste. Not sure what is causing it but it tastes burnt to me.

Very smoky flavor - I used soy milk and honey to balance it out

This tea tasted like a bonfire in a cup. It brought us back to the mountains.

Fuller bodied tea, very smoky. Wasn’t for me because of the smoke, but other flavors still came through. It was a very good tea. Just depends what you like, personally.

smells like an ashtray. It's like the decaf cinnamon hazelnut tea with a bunch of liquid smoke in it.

Bonfire lives up to its name because it smells nearly exactly like one. Unfortunately not for me, since the smell was so strong it was difficult to enjoy the tea.

★★★☆☆

Its good, different from the tea i usually drink but its great for winter time. smells really good too!

Husband really likes the smoky smell and taste of this one. A bit more of an acquired taste!

Unfortunately I didn't like this one. It tastes the way scented pine cones smell, which is novel in theory, but I'm just too picky with cinnamon.

★★☆☆☆

I think the smokiness of this is an acquired taste that I'm just not into. It seems very smoky and perfumey to me with not much else. There's a slight hint of apple and cinnamon which was nice, but the smoke overpowered it. (I tried it separately plain, with honey, with a bit of sugar, and with some milk.)

This is fine. Smoky, just as the name says. I’d rather just have lapsong souchong though.

It smells smoky and sweet. The flavor isn't the wood campfire smoky I was expecting, but still has a good flavor, not too spicy from the peper corns. Though it does give you a nice warm feeling. This will be a sometimes tea

Very flavorful with a touch of heat. Perfect to sip hot on a rainy day. I let it cool down and poured over ice - makes of excellent iced tea as well.

In the bag: Nearly identical to the Adagio photo, but heavier on apple pieces.

On the nose (pre-steep): Sweet, spiced apples roasting on a fire. Slightly cloying. Intense.

On the nose (post-steep): So strong I can smell it from across the room. Smoke and earthy spices - perhaps cinnamon? - are the main flavors, with apple in the background.

On the tongue (pre-sweetener): Unsweetened, spiced apples are up front. The spices are warm, like cinnamon and clove. Not as smoky as the scent. Honeybush in the background.

On the tongue (post-sweetener): The spices have a new dimension. They distinctly remind me of the sweet, spiced apples you might get as a cold weather desert.

Opinion: Delicious! The smell and taste are both tasty, and deliver on the concept. I could drink it with our without sweetener, as each option provides a unique and yummy approach.

Preparation: First steep 5 min, second steep 10 min. Both @ 212 ℉. ½ teaspoon monk fruit sweetener.

I really love this tea! The smokiness from the lapsang souchong isn't overwhelming and the flavors melt together for a very cozy cup of tea. I also added 1 packet of splenda.

Take fall with you wherever you go! The smoke is subtle but it really rounds out an overall great herbal tea. The trace amount of caffeine is a trace at most. Great tea! Looking forward to ordering more!

I tried this blend at a local tea shop and searched online to try to find this to brew at home. The slight smokiness makes it a perfect, cozy blend for fall/winter.

this taste like wood so you better go outside and eat some wood to see if your gonna want to drink this stuff

I don’t know about this one. Day one we kind of liked it. It really did taste like you think a bonfire would. However we had it again a couple days later and it just tasted like smoke.
We tried it twice more and I was much to smoke tasting.

As someone who is generally scared of lapsang souchong teas, I was afraid of this one and didn't dare touch it. But I decided to branch out and give this one a taste in the name of autumnal spirit. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! The smoky flavor thankfully does not show up too much in the taste (more in the smell, but it's more in a comforting campfire way). As the blend cools, the citrus and spice flavors come out even more, and the honeybush base does this tea a lot of favors in keeping it grounded and smooth. I highly recommend giving this one a try, even if you aren't usually a lapsang fan (like me).

Unsure of what gives it that smokey flavor, but it is effective! It really tastes the way a campfire smells, it absolutely blew me away.

I've tried a lot of tea here, but bonfire is just perfect for my favorite weather, fall/winter. Gives me the smokey taste that I've been craving. My favorite tea of all time

★★★★★

this is a great tea, it has an earthy, smokey flavor. You can over steep it for a stronger flavor without it getting bitter.

★★★★★

How do I put this... It's a strong tea. It's like a sensation of spices come to life. I did however have to take a heartburn chew after this tea, but it was worth it. Great with a little honey.

★★★★☆

This is a definite cold weather tea. One of the most unique favors I have tried with its slight smokiness. It may not be one of my favorites, but fun to have for the season.

★★★★★

I love this tea. It has a very cozy feel to it. One of my favorites for Autumn.

Not for me unfortunately. The scent is definitely bonfire, but I think it is an acquired taste. It was strong and pungent. I don't think I would have enjoyed it without honey either. My first time having lapsang admittedly, but its just not my favorite. Smokey.

Was excited to try Bonfire and it didn't disappoint. From first scent out of the pouch, it's golden amber color steeped, to it's deeply nuanced smoky clove flavor at first sip, it totally lived up to it's name. Daughter didn't care for it, but I love it! Perfect for sweater weather and October evenings on the porch. Will order again.

★★★★☆

I don't think I've tried a tea like this before. It is very smoky but not harsh. Not exactly something I personally would reach for over and over but I'm very glad to have tried it in the community box. Definitely worth a try at least once and if I were to get another packet I'd certainly drink it again.

Because of the mixed reviews,I was a little trepidatious to try today's tea, however, it was better than I thought it would be. I really liked the campfire smores tea, so I think I like a little bit of smokiness, but feel it can get overwhelming quickly. This one was ok, but the smokiness definitely hits you, especially when you smell it. As it cooled, I got the cinnamon, the honeybush, and it became a little more well rounded in flavor. I definitely recommend sweetened to bring out the honeybush. I don't know that I would buy this one, but I would drink it again if it came up in my communitea package...Maybe blend it and play with some flavors to tame the smokiness even more. Bottom line, if you like smoky teas, you will probably like this. If you're on the fence, it might be too much. If you don't like smoky teas, skip it!

It really does taste like a bonfire. I wasn’t a fan of how smokey it tastes, but I think it did have a nice balance of the smoke with the sweet and spicy flavors of fall. It’s not something I will drink again, but for someone who likes those sorts of flavors, I think it could be really good.

★★★☆☆

This one is super smoky, with just a hint of spice lurking underneath. A bit much for me but I enjoyed the uniqueness of it.

This one is ok. Not great. I also expected a more smoky flavor, but was happy to discover it was not overpowering. Smells like potpourri upon opening the package. Interesting and complex, for sure. But not for everyone.

★★★☆☆

I personally have never wished for a beverage that tastes like sitting at a bonfire when the wind blows the wrong way and you end up with a face full of smoke. If you have, it might be the tea for you.

★★★★★

I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. The citrusy smokey flavor works really well together, I like this one way more than I thought I would

I find smoky flavors really challenging. On the other hand, I was excited to see aniseed since that's one of my favorites. Unfortunately the smokey characteristics blow out the other flavors and I really have to search for them. I won't return to this one.

★★★★☆

This was a unique tea to try, I wouldn't call it a favorite, but I still quite liked it. The smell after opening the packet instantly transported me to my favorite bead and leather supply shop, which now has me wanting to get back into jewelry making, but back to the tea. The taste was smooth with a mild smokiness. I was worried about the anise seed in this one as I'm not much of an anise fan, but it was well blended and didn't dominate the other flavors. Overall, I enjoyed this tea, perhaps not one I'd keep stocked all the time, but I wouldn't turn down a cup if someone offered it.

Oct 24: I couldn’t really do it this time I think this blend doesn’t work. Might be the hazelnut that’s the wrong note.

I wanted to LOVE it but I like it. I agree that there’s something the lapsang doesn’t mesh with well. Liked but prefer other smoky teas.

This tea was unfortunately not for me. Tasted way too 'smokey' in flavor and none of the ingredients really blent well together in my opinion.

I have to admit, Bonfire is an accurate name for this tea, in both taste and smell. Smoky teas are usually a no go for me, but this isn't as offensive with the blend of peppercorn's bite and the honeybush's sweetness.

Sensing the strong scent of the lapsang from the CommuniTEA packet is a surefire sign that I'm getting better from a recent illness. While the scent is not especially enticing for me, I wasn't turned off from the flavor of this blend. I think the honeybush is a perfect companion tea which tempers the lapsang. The longer I let it sit, the easier I found to sip it down.

Not for me! A blend without the lapsang would have been wonderful, but the smokiness killed it for me. 😞 I don't like giving 1 star reviews, but this one earned it...
