I was really unsure of this tea at first. The initial smell is strange. I couldn t place a dominant fragrance. The flavor itself is savory (probably the lapsang souchong), very different when compared to the typical evening herbal I like to drink. I m not sure how, but somehow it works! I really enjoy this tea. It s been a great way to mix up the herbal routine.

When I first opened the tea, I didn't like the smell at all, but after I made some it tasted delicious. I would recommend this tea, but in mine there seemed to be more apple piece and such than tea :(

Definitely a favorite! Very thick and vibrant flavors. Can also use each batch twice, though the second tea is a little thin

I didn’t like this tea. It was like drinking a 🔥

I enjoyed this tea more than I thought I would. It really does have a smoky aroma, but the flavor is less so. It is instead fruity with mild spice reminiscent of autumn. The peppercorns add just the right amount of heat.

This is camping in a tea! I love bold and flavorful teas and this one is just stellar! Highly recommend if you love smoky flavors.

Smokey and delightful. Might order more when it’s gone.

I really wanted to love this tea but it tastes like the smell of a stale cinema. Not a fan, would not buy again.

Fans of chai will definitely love this tea. It has a similar quality with the blend of cinnamon and cloves (that are present, and very pleasant), but the orange flavor does wonders for it. Very unique! I'm in love with it's bold, smokey flavor.

Appropriately named-another good combo! Keep up the good work.

A nice change with the peppercorns. A nice cup of tea.

Ideal fall tea. The smell alone brings memories of bonfires and fall colors.

Quite tasty. Among my top mostly non-caffeinated teas. I drink it by the quart on cold afternoons.

This tea is complex, somehow both subtle and robust with a smokey aroma and hints of orange and chocolate. The bite of the peppercorn at the end really brings all the flavors together to help the blend live up to its name.

Edit:
This is now my most favorite tea. I have ordered a giant bag.

I normally don't review teas but I felt like it was worth it to put this up here. I am not a fan of how this tea tastes at all. It's not terrible, but it's very different and is a lot like sipping on pure smoke. The reason I'm rating it so highly though is because I've suffered from severe migraines my entire life, and three times in a row now I've had a cup of this stuff during a bad one and it's ended the migraine before I've finished the cup. I don't know which ingredient it is that's doing this, but I think it's happened enough times now not to call it a fluke, so I'll definitely be stocking up.

It is a fun autumn tea, as advertised, and complex as well as not overly sweet. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because Adagio has so many other teas that are my go-to teas before this one. I'll buy it again though.

Did not love this one. The scent is surprising—smoky almost—making it less than a favorite at our house. It’s okay with added sugar.

★★★★☆

Not one of my go to's because I already have so many, but I love to mix it in with others.

★★★☆☆

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of teas with smokey tones to it, so I knew I was going out on a limb to try it. The rest of my family can't get enough of it however, so I guess it's a personal preference

★★★★☆

Smells smokier than it tastes -- strong on the hazelnut flavor.

★★★★★

I wasn't sure I would like this tea, as I am not a big fan of smoky tea, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The mix of flavors is well balanced, and the smokiness only is a hint, not overpowering at all.

★★★★★

A terrific autumn blend - not too much spice and just the right amount of sweetness. Not really any need to add honey!

★★★★☆

Very cool flavor that isn't TOO intense. Great for getting into a fall mood.

★★★★☆

Very nice, warm and cozy tea. Love the smokiness- it comes across the nose not the tongue like scotch does and is very pleasant. Just perfect for curling up with as the autumn rains come down.

★★☆☆☆

This was not my favorite. Either you like the taste of pure smoke or you dont. I will say its like a burnt chamomile. Its a little too smokey for me. I really wanted to like this, but didn't.

★★★★☆

It smells like a bonfire. Very smoky. Needs longer steeping to bring out the citrus flavor, which makes it much better.

this was a delicious tea, I would definitely recommend.

I can't believe this tea actually smells and tastes like a bonfire! I love the smokey and woody scent. The berry and spice blend are balanced really well. I love stepping outside on a cool afternoon with this tea in tote!

The smell is very off-putting for a tea. Note: it does smell like a bonfire. I don't know why I bought this.

This tree has a lovely smoky flavor. Very different than expected.

I really wanted to love this but I can’t get over the smokiness. It was just too overpowering for my taste. Will not buy again :(

Maybe it's just me, but the anise just totally overwhelms everything else. I'll try it again, maybe I just got too much anise in my spoonfuls, and need to shake the bag up.

Interesting.
I had high hopes for this tea, and while it Isn't a bad tea, it just Isn't what I expected based on the description. It seems like it is missing something, but I can't place what it may be.

Seriously, my favorite of the flavored teas. My sister had a small bag last year, and I drank most of it, but it seasoned out before I could replace it for her. Nine months later, and we’ve both bought a one pound package. I love that it’s a low caffeine level; it’s perfect for a mid afternoon pick me up. Mix 50/50 with warmed cider for an Autumnal experience, or blend with Chestnut, and serve with cream and sugar for a warming cup of spice. The smokieness is subtle, but adds to the “bonfire” experience.
Edit: I need to buy enough to get through the year. I hate when I run out, and the tea isn’t in season!!

I'm not a fan of hazelnut teas but this was less nutty and I really liked the smoky flavor.

★★★☆☆

When I first smelled this before brewing, I was excited by the smoky scent, but a little worried that smoke would overpower the other flavors. You only get slight hints of the orange, cinnamon, clove and anise, with the aftertaste of the smokiness sort of swallowing up the other flavors. That being said, I do like the tea. I just wish the smoke was subtler.

I really wanted to like this tea, but to me it tasted like mixing campfire ash with water. I haven’t figured out how to salvage it.

★★★★☆

The sample that I got is very heavy on the lapsang. The other flavors are kind of washed out by the lapsang. I like lapsang, but I have to be in the mood for it.

The smell is utterly bizarre to me. On one hand it smells like orange and campfire, on the other hand, it also reminds me somehow of a deli counter (probably the peppercorns).

The taste, on the other hand, is great, a good mix of spicy and smoky with enough citrus to cut through and keep it from feeling too heavy.

★★☆☆☆

When they say “bonfire”, they aren’t kidding. It tastes A LOT like fireplace juice.

This one grew on me the more I drank it. I enjoyed the smoky flavor and tasted a lot of cinnamon and apple. This tea is very aromatic, so it's best in an open cup and not a closed tumbler.

I was really disappointed by this tea. I was expecting something punchy and powerful and smoky, but all I got out of it was a kind of weird apple flavor. The lapsang souchong only comes through in the aroma, not the flavor. I tried mixing this about 3:1 with lapsang, but that was definitely not what this tea was needing. Not a bad tea, not a great one, just...forgettable.

Now this tea really really really surprised me! I thought 'bonfire,' okay, I'm game, but had very low expectations. Boy, was I surprised! Totally unique, smoky flavor that, well, got me all lit up! I love love love this! Had tried it as a sample and now will buy this regularly. You won't be disappointed if you like a unique and interesting wow factor in an herbal tea!

★★★☆☆

It's fine but anis is too dominating, you can't really recognize anything else

★★★☆☆

Not a big fan of this one. It has a strong Smokey taste to it.

★★★☆☆

It really does smell like a bonfire and reminds me of home celebrating guy Fawkes, although some people like the smokiness in their tea, i do not and couldn't really get past the first cup, if you like the ingredients i say give it a try. or just buy it to enjoy the smell of a fire on a cold night

★★★★☆

Very interesting flavor. It smells super smoky before you brew it, and I wasn't sure what to think. It has that smoky taste still after you brew it, but it also then has the addition of a sort of berry, earthy flavor added in. This is the type of tea that I know I'd never drink during the warmer months, but it feels so right on a cold fall morning.

★★★☆☆

The scent before the tea is brewed kind of makes me feel like I might sneeze. The tea has a solid flavor, but nothing spectacular. Honestly, if I hadn't had so many brilliant teas from Adagio, I'd give it four stars, but as it is, I am a little disappointed.

Bought this on a whim while purchasing other teas. It's a very interesting tea to say the least. I'm not a fan of pure Lapsang, BUT with the other flavors in the tea combined (and some honey) I gotta admit that I like it. To anyone reading this review, the smokiness is very present but not as overpowering as you may think. Also can taste heavy accents of the peppercorns and anise. Wondering how this would taste with some whiskey/bourbon added...I'll try next time.
