White Monkey Customer Reviews

Green tea from the slopes of the Taimu Mountains in Fujian, China. The delicate, unopened buds appear perfectly white against the young, opened green leaves. Warm colored liquor with a fresh, almost wildflower sweet scent and slightly dry finish.

Green Tea is the king of my beverage kingdom and today’s tea is one of the reasons why. It seldom disappoints, espescially when it is the single tea..if you enjoy any green tea ,I know you will live this one.

This is one fantastic green tea! I love the delicate, light buttery and crispness to the tea. It is perfect for anytime of the day and you must give this tea a try. This tea goes well with peppermint/spearmint teas. Temp:190- or a bit less ( before boil) : 3 minutes : 1 tsp of honey.

Really great tea. It’s smooth, mellow, light, not astringent. I really enjoyed it.

This reminds of Genmaicha green tea. Great flavor. Less is more with brew time in order to avoid bitterness.

This is along the lines of a milder Gunpowder. I'm not sure if I will purchase again unless I grow bored with Gunpowder. Great choice if Gunpowder is too bold.

This tea is one of my favorites and always has been. It's got a nice nutty flavor to it, I feel. Also very nice when I feel a little sick.

Temperamental, but good. This tea likes around the 170F range and not to be brewed too far past 2 minutes or it gets astringent. Mostly consisted of savory green veggies flavor, and almost hints of edamame. A good green tea if you don t want the fruity or grassy flavor. Just mind your temp and steep time. @adagioteas

This delicious, smooth, and nuanced tea is one of my husband s very favorite green teas, a situation probably partly due to the joy he gets from drinking a tea with Monkey in the name. The leaves are beautiful, fuzzy and lovely, but darker in appearance and grassier in smell than the Pi Lo Chun (which likely wins the award for prettiest leaves in an Adagio green tea), and the taste is malty and nutty with a very slight grassy component. This tea reminds me of a lighter, sweeter Long Jin, which is also one of our favorites. The White Monkey doesn t have the muscatel fruity flavor of the Wenshan Mist, but as my husband says, tastes 'more distinct' than other green teas, 'earthy and nice.' It rebrews well. In a side-to-side tasting, I find it weaker in flavor than other green teas Adagio has to offer, but it is subtle in its grassiness (definitely not seaweedy) and light on the finish. I find it superior in complexity to Silver Sprout, which tastes one-dimensional and nondistinct in comparison. White Monkey is perhaps less enjoyable for me than Wenshan Mist, which I find deeply layered, fruity, and complex, but its distinguishing characteristics might be easier for those with simpler palates to appreciate compared to other green teas. In conclusion, this is a light and pleasant green tea with a fun name which is not too pungent and a bit nutty/earthy. A great quality tea, especially considering the price. @adagioteas

A pretty good green tea, but not outstanding or a favorite. Good, but not outstanding.

Amazing! This is my first time trying white monkey tea, I will 100% be repurchasing. First of all, this smells amazing, it is bright and fruity, almost like a subtle japanese grape candy, LOL, with a touch of bright florals and some grassy notes under it all. Smells even better when bloomed. Tastes so wonderful, very smooth tea, not grassy or astringent (unless you over infuse). It legitimately has a fruity taste to it! Like it could *almost* be sweet, but it's not. There is a very slight underlaying floral taste. Overall amazing. If you like lighter teas, or are used to herbal teas/tisanes but want to try a 'normal tea', this is for you. But I would still push anyone to try this, it is that good!

A lovely light tea for evening relaxation. Soft flavor that does not demand attention but refreshes nicely.

The liquid is a lovely gold color. It's light and smooth and has a little seaweed/kale taste to it. I know my oldest daughter will enjoy this one. This might be better for those individuals who don't like grassy.

A cup that s soothing on the mouth, without much acidity to speak of! I would advise either icing immediately, or drinking while still hot, as it can taste a little metallic once room temperature.

I’m not into this tea very much. I much prefer the jasmine dragon pearls.

The description says not to be misled by the name, but it does taste rather like a white tea. Not quite, but it's very gentle for a green tea.

A smooth tasting tea, good to mix with other flavored teas such as ginger or lemon

I keep giving this one another try. It's not as good as most of the full leaf teas here. Kind of weak no matter how I steep it. I was aching for that seaweed taste but I guess the stress is on the 'subtle' in the description.

Love this green tea. I’m right in the middle with green teas, I like a good grassy flavor but I try to avoid greens that easily turn bitter even at low temps. This had a beautiful grassy flavor but had a nice, natural sweetness to it.

This might be my new favorite. Smell is so good I can't help crunching on the dried leaves while I'm prepping. Once wet, the leaves' smell reminds me of sweet tropical fruit gum. Resteeping doesn't turn astringent.

I tried this as a sample last month before they got new stock and it was great! But recently I ordered a 1.5oz bag and this fresh batch was a completely different tea. It looked different than the photo, and instead of brewing pale amber, it was a very green color and had an extremely grassy almost gunpowder flavor. I would wait to buy this tea until they figure out what happened. It's possible that the wrong tea was put into these bags, in which case I'll hold off from buying it for a while. The original tea was so mild and not grassy at all. It was great.
