White Monkey Customer Reviews

Green tea from the slopes of the Taimu Mountains in Fujian, China. The delicate, unopened buds appear perfectly white against the young, opened green leaves. Warm colored liquor with a fresh, almost wildflower sweet scent and slightly dry finish.

I don't know why it is called white monkey, but it was nice and not too grassy.

★★★★☆

I know this is supposed to be a green tea, but to me it really tastes a lot like a white. Subtle and a mild taste of chestnuts and honey.

★★★★☆

This is a very smooth and mellow tea. It has a very subtle flavor and is very warming.

★★★★☆

While I really like the smoothness and flavor of this green tea, I found it really light. I'll have to let it steep even longer next time!

★★★★★

This is a really light, slightly sweet green tea. I like it, but I don't love it.

★★★★☆

I think my first steeping of this was done either too hot or too long, because the first pot was incredibly bitter, which was unexpected because of all the reviews saying otherwise. I'm new to green tea so I wouldn't be surprised if I did it too hot. The second steeping was at 180, and it came out perfect. Completely different than the first. Very smooth, smells like flowers and tastes a bit like edamame.

★★★☆☆

With this tea I did not find a wow factor or something to make it stand out like its name does. I could be my palate is not sensitive enough, who knows.

★★★★★

I enjoyed this tea but am not a big fan of the taste of this, this tea is good for people who dont like full flavor teas

★★★★★

Absolutely love the mild flavor of this tea, the perfect afternoon tea, very smooth.

★★★★★

I Love this tea It reminds me of one of my favorite teas Pi lo chun, although this tea is very light in flavor it is still very enjoyable and does not need sweetening all while leaving a crisp mouth feel.

★★★★☆

A nice tea actually. Disappointed I only got the sample.

★★★★☆

This is a good green tea. I usually drink jasmine, but I'm sure this will be the tea I go to when I want something different.

★★★★★

Amazing. A light flavor while still being distinctively green tea.

★★★★★

This is definitely one of my favorite greens. It's light and just a little sweet, and it only needs a little honey to bring out the best in it. I drink this one regularly at work, especially after lunch.

★★★★★

Wow, What a superb flavor, Very Light and Crisp. No overpowering earthy flavor, Just warm creamy goodness.

★★★★★

Surprisingly sweet by itself! Also good when iced with a little bit of sugar.

★★★★★

Very enjoyable green tea. Not too strong or grassy. I also brew some tea and put it in a thermos, add ice and take it to work to sip during the day. Hydrate and green tea benefit.

★★★☆☆

Most of my green tea experience is in Genmaicha and Gyokuro, so White Monkey is very light compared to what I'm used too. If you're like me, definitely steep for 3-3.5 min. Good tea for learning how to experience the flavors of lighter, more subtle teas!

My husband and I have decided that anything with 'monkey' in the name is good.

★★★★★

I got some white monkey in a green tea sampler and really liked it. Unfortunately, its a little expensive for me, right now.

★★★☆☆

It's very light, but none the less good. I'd try steeping it a bit longer than what is suggested on the bag.

★★★★☆

For a green tea, it has a very gentle taste. Not the standard almost grassy taste of other green teas.

★★★★☆

A good white tea, but I found it to be slightly too oily in texture.

★★★★★

I really love this tea, its one of my favorite non flavored green teas, its a very light mild flavor that I enjoy in the evening

It has the same hayness of white peony but is basically just lower quality. A nice tea to have if you want something daily but not too memorbale. (I steeped this in a gaiwan for about 20 secs.)

this is the tea for those who like a nice cup with there meal, its very light an has a subtle flavor, if you like the green tea served with your meal at the chines restaurant you ll love this, you could easily drink 3 or 4 cups a day, the tea bags for this tea have a small amount inside for each bag i would reccomend the 1.5 oz bags for a better deal

★★★★★

This is a great tea. Although it is a green tea, white monkey doesn't have the grassy smell and taste. It has a bland taste when it is steeped at 180°F. I drink this tea when I want something different to a green or a black tea.Another good thing is that one heaping teaspoon can be infused three times without jeopardizing the flavor.

Great, very earthly, slightly sweet, similar to Hunan Gold in my opinion. Very light tea, not smokey, very nice.

★★★★☆

This is a nice subtle green tea without the grassy flavors green teas can have. It has a mild astringency and slight dry finish. While not my first choice, it is a very decent green and yields multiple infusions. Better hot with a touch of sweetener.

Pretty good, a bit more grassy and plain than other's. Still a great tea. Give it a shot. Try adding a little honey to it.

Not a bad tea to try, not on my all time fav list...but I would drink again.

★★★★☆

This is a nice green tea. It's very light and slightly sweet, giving it a taste reminiscent of butter. It's also forgiving when it comes to over-stepping, which in my opinion makes it taste even better.

Definitely worth trying.

★★★★★

My husands favorite green tea. I love it anytime anywhere, as is. Nothing needed. Doesn't seem to oversteep as bad as some greens if you lose track of time for a minute or 2.

★★★★☆

A nice light tea. The taste is very mild, not a punch in the face type of tea. The first brew has a slightly sweet taste. The second doesn't have that sweet taste, but still a decent cup of tea.

I am stealing this term from my friend, but it really is one of the best ways to describe this tea - Zen. This tea is my go-to for calm moments, usually either the end of the day or after a nice meal. It is a lighter tea that might not have a obvious flavor to it, but once you hone into the subtleties of white monkey's taste, it's not hard to start loving it.

This white tea is definitely my current favorite tea. Most days I drink a whole pot by myself.

★★★★★

I really enjoyed this tea, it was very smooth and not grassy. It almost reminded me of an oolong, but much lighter.

Nothing special. It was nice, but not memorable with nothing distinguishable in the flavour.

★★★★☆

A very good green tea! The brewing color is interesting, as it changes little to none at all. The flavor is rather earthy, with floral notes but ver good!

★★★★☆

Lovely, smooth balanced green tea. If you just want a straight green, you can't go much further than this. Wish it was a bit stronger though.

★★★★☆

Very light green tea. Vegetal and grassy at the same time.

★★★★★

One of, if not, the best green tea I have ever had! The flavor does not suffer the 'spinach grass' taste many others can have and it stands up if mixed with other teas.

★★★★☆

Great dry green tea. You have to be really careful not to over steep it though.

★★★★★

I recently bought a large bag of this tea because it's light, delicate flavor makes it a perfect go-to green tea. The grassiness of most green teas can get tiresome and there is none of that in White Monkey.

I am still learning my way around greens, (I tend to go for flavored greens), but I enjoyed this for its clean, refreshing taste.

It has a nice light, clean taste. It's has a subtle grassy taste to it. The sample is only 11g (0.4oz). That only makes 5 cups. The listing states 10 cups.

Not the tea for my taste. Gave it to my mom, and she did not like it as well.

★★★★★

To me, this is the epitome of a good green tea. The flavor is both earthy and subtle. It is very calming to drink.

★★★★★

Nice mild white tea. Not quite as delicate as silver needle but very close.

★★★★★

An excellent light tea. I have a friend who really appreciates lighter flavors and this tea is perfect for her. I make her a cup of white monkey every time she visits!
