Sleeping Dragon Customer Reviews

Tightly rolled fuzzy buds give a soft, fruity sweetness enfolded by a rich, smoky note similar to gunpowder, but more complex and crisp.

The first steeping of this green tea produced the strongest cup, with vegetal and mineral flavors prominent. The second steeping was as flavorful, but milder on the astringency. Some sweetness was starting to peek through the other flavors. I'm sure a third steeping will bring more sweetness forward. I like plain green teas, but I really love this one! Plus, watching the rolled leaves unfurl always amuses me!

Nice green tea. Been looking for something this smooth and consistent, and this has been a winner.

not a bad green tea.. very nice flavor and not to earthy ... love to brew it and watch the tea unfold as it steeps..

★★★★★

A lovely grassy green tea with a hint of a floral aroma. Quite enjoyable hot, and I bet it would be delightful cold as well.

Best tea ever. True green tea taste. The leaves aren't broken so the flavor is true and fresh. Most Authentic teas I have tasted. The sample tease that come are delicious with flavored aroma.

Really great tea. It was the first time I ordered. Will reorder again and again and again and again. Very strong.

★★★★★

I was a little nervous to try this tea but it actually had a really good flavor. It had a nice hint of smokey flavor.

Maybe this is just me, but it reminds me a lot of the Jade Oolong, which is another one of my favorites.

★★★★★

Really love the flavor of this one! A little bit goes a long way, I would say one teaspoon per cup unless you really like a strong tea!

★★★★★

This is a wonderful green tea! And it's fun to watch the tea leaves unfurl. This green tea is light, fruity and a little bit smokey tasting.

One of the best Chinese green teas I’ve had. Tastes just as described with a hint of Smokey flavor like gunpowder tea

★★★★★

This is such an extraordinary green tea. It sounds like it would be smokey, but it is extremely smooth with a muted earthiness. Causing this to be a pleasant cup of tea.

Turned into my favorite lunchtime green tea. I find it a bit smoother than gunpowder. Also, not a heavy grass flavor.

Nice, refreshing with a bit of astringency..but renders citrusy on the palate. Test steeping times to your liking. I like Gonfu style steeping - large amount of tea for seconds brewing only, with many infusions. Sometimes you need to raise the temp on the later infusions. I do this with all my tea.

★★★★☆

I like this one. Can't put my finger on the exact flavor but it's enjoyable. Typically get 3 2-3 minute steeps at 180 deg. Will purchase again.

Thank you for this one! We love everything about this Green Tea. It is just spot on for taste, very earthy, springy tasting. This jawn is great iced too. Bought a sample pack and I am all about coming back for more.

This is good Green. Classic green. Not too greeny and not nutty. Its a classic.

Smells and tastes like grain with a hint of smokiness. the tea is smooth and slightly toasty. As it cools, there is some grassiness, but it is weak. Resteeps well and is good for sipping throughout the day.

★★★★★

This is one of the smoothest tees in the world with amazing flavor profile at a modest price point
Normally only one sleeping allowed
If you experience any bitterness at all then the steeping was too hot or too long, in some cases too much tea. Using a Breville automatic tea maker approximately 1000 mL / 6 teaspoons of sleeping dragon for one minute at 175° - when you hit the sweet spot of flavor you will know you got there

One of my hands down favorite teas! A delicious flavor profile and it's lovely watching the pearls unfurl.

★★★★★

I like gunpowder tea and this seems like a larger version of it. Has a Smokey flavor good way to start your morning.

I ordered a few green teas last time, trying to find one that I like (it’s supposed to be so good for us, but I won’t drink it if I don’t like the flavor). I generally like green tea at Japanese or Chinese restaurants, but what I’ve tried at home usually tastes unpleasantly grassy to me. I’m happy I tried Sleeping Dragon. No grassy taste! Just a pleasant green tea. Slight astringency, and a bit of a sweet aftertaste.

Great for beginners. A very slight seaweed/grass taste, but less so than many others. Mildly sweet when brewed at the temp on the directions

★★★★★

Very smooth and delicious green tea. Not too earthy.

Excellent green tea. Not overwhelmingly grassy. I usually brew twice, the second for one minute more and it is still excellent.

★★★☆☆

It's a nice tea but just not my favorite. Not much else to say.

Sleeping Dragon came recommended to me by a fellow Adagio sipper on Facebook. I made mine cold/room temp with burdock and green tea honey. It is very good! It's a plain tea, of course, but definitely up there with my favorite plain teas. It also takes the sweetness of the honey really well. I would highly recommend this tea!

This tea got me started with all the other teas from Adagio! I was looking for a replace to my constant purchase of Cloud Mist and this tea hits the spot! Slight earthy tones and notes can be tasted, and it has smooth finish without any aftertastes! I continue to use this tea every day and enjoy it winter or summer!

★★★★☆

This is my go-to plain green tea. The tea is a solid green, not too grassy. I especially like that this is forgiving about over-brewing and doesn't easily become bitter unless you leave it until it gets cold. UPDATE: I'm taking it down one star because more recent brews have been more bitter and grassier in flavor than previous pouches I've used.

This is truly a one of a kind green tea. It has a good balance of earthiness and subtly that any green tea fan can enjoy.

A very good green tea for someone who doesn't usually like green tea.

Sleeping Dragon wakes from its curled up ball, unfurling into a beautiful, smoky cup of tea.

Fantastic, nice full bodied tea. Excellent flavor, definitely as described. Can be reliably steeped twice. Be careful not to oversteep it though, which is a bit easy for this one.

★★★★★

This beautifully balanced green is full-bodied with bold, toasted earthy flavors and light fruitiness throughout. If you're curious about getting into green tea, try this one - it's absolutely everything I love about greens.

A simple, good green tea, not dissimilar to gunpowder (though I do prefer gunpowder)

My son drinks this blended with another tea and LOVES it. This blend is his GOTO tea!

★★★★★

To me, THIS is how Chinese green tea SHOULD taste. Gunpowder has its place but its flavor is pronounced. Sleeping Dragon is more versatile and highly satisfying-- a perfect midday tea for a person who likes to move from black in the a.m. to no caffeine at night with moderate levels in between. More Adagio shoppers should give this tea a try. I personally tried the higher rated teas first but am glad I didn't miss out on this one!

careful not to oversteep! I made that mistake at first, and it just had a very bitter taste. when I steeped for two minutes, it came out great with a complex smoky yet slightly sweet flavor. not very earthy/grassy at all. @adagioteas

Sleeping Dragon has become my go to green tea when I need a lift of freshness in my cuppa. I drink most teas Grandpa style and have found this green tea to be less stringent than most.

I wanted to love this tea so badly, but I can’t even get myself to drink a whole cup :( there’s something in the flavor that is just not appetizing to me and I can’t quite place it other than saying it’s perhaps “buttery”?

A beautifully light cup of green tea, a joy from beginning to end. I was super happy to find that the tea’s flavor profile resembled that of matcha; a sort of earthy, bitter flavor, that persists throughout the entire cup.

My favorite green tea, and I am an oolong kind of guy. But this is my afternoon choice- good flavor and no fishy taste. I never get tired of this tea.

★★★★★

A wonderful tea to watch, and tastes great as well. It's my friend's favorite tea.

★★★★☆

Enjoyed this with a tea bag and 2 steeps - 1st for 2-1/2 minutes, 2nd for 3 minutes. Both quite enjoyable. A little floral not bitter. I might adjust the temp down to 165 next time but I thought this was quite lovely. I feel this would be lovely iced.

With dairy milk this tastes florally, almost like matcha tea!!! low calories matcha taste-alike alternative. Similar to Teavana's Emperor's Clouds & Mist but with a fraction of the cost
