Sleeping Dragon Customer Reviews

Tightly rolled fuzzy buds give a soft, fruity sweetness enfolded by a rich, smoky note similar to gunpowder, but more complex and crisp.

Really good subtly tea, a great green tea with nice flavor

Very good everyday green tea. I recommend it to everyone because it is sold a pretty good price and tastes great!

At first I was worried this would have too much of a vegetable taste, but then I tried it. Very solid tea, has a fruity hint behind the smoky taste.

I was a little dissapointed by this tea. I found it to be a little too mild for my taste. It wasn't a bad tea but I didn't find it to have enough flavor and even when I brewed it longer still found it to be a bit bland. However, if you like really mild greens it would not be a bad option.

Very nice flavor enjoyed both sweetened and unsweetened.

My favorite part of this tea is the smokiness - it's not as intense as a Lapsang Souchong but it provides a nice contrast to the vegetal taste of Sencha.

This one is like Pi Lo Chun or Jade Snail, only with an overlying flavor of smokiness. This adds complexity but is not overpowering. It also lasted more than one infusion, unlike some of the other greens.

It is a peppery tea, to say the least. It also has quite a bit of fine sediment that ends up in the bottom of the cup, making the last few sips bitter.

This tea had the mild bitterness I love, but it had no extra ordinary flavors that stuck out. its a great relaxing tea for me.

This has a wonderful, almost grassy flavor with a hint of spice.

Easily a new favorite green. Yields a nice golden cup that is full of flavor. It has a very mild astringency that needs no sweetener at all and is great hot or iced. Great quality and an even better price! Will order again!

This tea has excellent flavor-perfect for early spring afternoons!

A new favorite among green teas. The flavor is neither too bold or too smooth lies right in the middle. It is neither too leafy or too roasted. The best part of this tea is watching the curled balls of green tea unfold.

This green was a little too smoky for my tastes. Not terrible, but I'd recommend one of the others instead.

I could not get past the heavy 'gunpowder' taste of this tea. I have only been able to drink it if I used half Sleeping Dragon, and half another tea that I did like. I will not purchase this again.

★★★☆☆

I found the flavor simlar to that of Gunpoweder green, though not as consistently astringent.

★★★★☆

VERY similar to gunpowder tea, just less smoky. Good tea, but so close to gunpowder I'm not sure if I would buy again as I prefer gunpowder's strength. But for those who want a milder version without the smoke, this would be a good alternative.

Gunpowder and White Monkey had a brawl. White Monkey came out the victor, but he was a little charred from the battle. He victoriously changed his name to Sleeping Dragon to celebrate his new mild smoky flavor that complemented his already delicate green sweetness.

This tea is completely delicious and my favorite from Adagio so far. Just a tiny hint of smokiness adds to a delicate but full green taste. Not grassy at all (not that I don't enjoy grassy), so if you're not into the lawn thing this is a good tea to go for. I really can't find anything I don't enjoy about this and it will probably become my go-to tea when I'm relaxing or studying.

This tea is exactly as advertised. It's a wonderfully delicate tea, without a strong grassy after taste. I enjoy drinking it in the afternoons while taking a moment to relax and rejuvenate after a long morning of work. Like all the other teas I drink, I have it with a spoonful of honey, and it really brings out the flavor, in my opinion. But it is lovely just on its own.

A nice, full flavor without being overpowering. The smokiness was nice for a change of pace.

I tried this at a tasting in the Naperville store, and was in love. We did variations on steeping--shorter infusions, different times, and the like--and I really didn't have a bad cup of tea. It does have a little bit of a smoky taste, something I really am not a fan of, but it's such a subtle flavor you almost have to be looking for it.

Well-rounded flavor, with a pleasant, subtle aftertaste. A great mid-work pick-me-up.

Sadly, sleeping dragon is afflicted by the same 'ashtray spilled in your veges' flavor that gunpowder is. If you are into that sort of thing, then I highly recommend it.

A strong, traditionally flavored green tea, it works well with foods like salmon that would overpower a lighter tea. Don't oversteap to avoid bitterness.

Good green tea. It is similar to gun powder. Very nice aroma and strong flavor.

I didn't like this one. It is somewhat bitter and has that smoky flavor.

Excellent green tea with a nice smokey taste. Similar, but not as smokey as gunpowder, which I also like.

Fresh green tasting tea, light vegetable flavors and grassiness. A lovely sweetness to the cup.

★★★☆☆

Great first steep, ok second steep, third one starts getting a Little Incredible Mr. Limpet on you, therefore, I do not recommend steeping more than twice unless you enjoy a good cup of fish water.

I'm very picky with green teas. You have to remember to use lower temp water and to steep for less time. Still, I get grassy notes too often. I don't want that. This tea doesn't have the grassy notes when steeped right. It's got some body and strength to it, which is rare with green teas. I like this one. Mellow and smooth

Has a nice smoky flavor to it which is why I bought this tea. Unfortunately, the smoky flavor goes away as it cools so you must drink it fast.

This will be my new everyday green tea. It has smokey notes like the gunpowder, but its flavor is a bit lighter.

A gentler green tea. Not a strong grassiness. Mellow.

Very nicely balanced tea, now one of my favorites. Lots of complexity without any one flavor overpowering the tea.

smokey, almost sweet. great on it's own, but paired with a mild flavor like pomegranate, its divine.

When you wake the dragon, prepare yourself for its ferocious flavor of gustatory green goodness! It's a strong green, great for those who want a lot to taste in each sip.

I switched to this as my everyday tea as a change from green pekoe. I like the hint of smokiness. A good green tea for daily consumption.

Love this tea, one of my favorites. It has mellow sweetness, slightly grassy and earthy and a touch of smoke. Not your usual green tea cup unless you really enjoy gunpowder, if you like more smoky try Jade Snail.

A very good green tea. It tastes like gunpowder without as much smokiness.

I love this tea. It's light in intensity, but has an understated smokiness to it, giving it depth. If you're an avid green tea drinker, at LEAST give the 2 buck sample a shot!
