A green tea with a slightly-smoky aftertaste, followed by grassy notes. Its only downside is a slightly-understated flavor before the aftertaste components take over.
Tightly rolled fuzzy buds give a soft, fruity sweetness enfolded by a rich, smoky note similar to gunpowder, but more complex and crisp.

Perfect Green Tea. This tea is great Iced or served hot. Exceptional Taste.
This is my second favorite tea behind Gunpowder. It's like Gunpowder's little brother. Soft, smooth, nice aroma, nice flavor, little aftertaste.
Dried the leaves have a great aromatic. With an earthy green scent and just a hint of something fruity and sweet. When brewed correctly it came out tasting very similar, though it can easily taste over-steeped and bitter.
Seemed rather bitter to me...not for me. Reminded me of gunpowder tea without the smokey flavor.
Definitely an interesting tea. The name, more than anything, gives me amusement.
I try all my tea before I put sugar in it,with that said sleeping dragon with out sugar tastes like hot water with a hint of tea.once sugar is added it becomes very strong but not in a bad way,but it tastes like alfalfa which is fine cuz I like alfalfa.but at $7 for 3 ounces I might as well just go and grow my own alfalfa and make it into tea instead of paying for a tea that taste like it.still tho sleeping dragon is good if u cant get alfalfa tea or find it cheap cuz this tea tastes like it..it even smelled like alfalfa in the bag.
The description is dead-on accurate. While I prefer the bolder flavor of Gunpowder, this is a nice mellow tea that has enough smokiness to let you know this is a green tea.
I don't know what else what to say but this tea, by it's self brewed smelled like a ashtray. It did not taste real great either, I did not care for the after taste.
My sister wanted this and she just loves it. She really likes the way it smells.
Pretty similar to a lot of gunpowder greens, but less smoky and fresher tasting. It's a little like a greener oolong, especially because of the darker tasting qualities it has. Be careful not to oversteep because it will become too strong and acrid.
Generally mild and reminiscent of gunpowder green. Flavors change as it cools and on subsequent brews. This one grew on me after a while, I'd recommend trying it.
A nice green but a bit too mild for my tastes. Very much like Gunpowder onle with a subtler flavor.
Perfect green tea to drink just a bit before going to bed, calm and soothing.
Similar in flavor to the gunpowder, but a little stronger. I love watching the leaves unfurl. Definitely one to try if you like the gunpowder.
It is great if you love tea that tastes like gunpowder.
It was very amusing to watch the little balls transform into beautiful green tea! The taste is very similar to that of just plain green tea but this tea is a little darker and smokier. A well enjoyed green tea!
Very light flavor, mellow and simple. Light grassy smell with a yellow-green color. Good for when you need a simple cup of tea to warm you up! My favorite part is watching the leaves unfurl in the Ingenuitea steeper!
Is this the best most complex and tastiest tea on Adagio? Nope, but considering the price point of this tea with what it has to offer it's a great tea with wonderful flavor that I could easily see being a daily drinker. Very smooth and easy to drink.
I have been enjoying this tea as a different flavor to the gunpowder green, less smoky but still nice and smooth.
Light and wonderful for helping me pick up my mood in this time of winter blues.
This tea reminds me of the gunpowder tea. It provides a clear even wake up in the morning and I dont get the afternoon hitters- its not grassy tasting either. I enjoyed it very much.
A mildly smokey, flavorful green tea. Not too leafy.
Kind of reminds me of gunpowder in a good way. It smells more grassy than it tastes with a kind of smokey flavor.
This tea is swell! It is the best green I have tried at Adagio, nice flavor, but still tastes slightly planty... Wish the dragon would wake up and give a little more kick, but over all good tea!
A less astringent green tea, similar in taste to gunpowder.
It's not my favorite, but very different from most green teas. The smokiness is quite prominent.
so good that the person i gifted it to became an adagio shopper
A nice calming green tea, if a little grassy at first.
It's just so much fun the put them in the kettle and watch them unravel. Taste it a bit too smokey for me, but don't let that keep you from trying it.
Enjoyable green tea. I don't like flavored greens, and I don't sweeten my green teas, so any I drink have to be good! This one has become my husband's favorite green tea.
I really like this tea it has a nice, smooth and mellow flavor.
Better than your average gunpowder green tea for sure. Just be sure not to oversteep this one.
I have had many gunpowder type teas but I love how this one transitions from the smokiness of the first steep or two into mellow green with a sweet haylike after taste. Very good tea!!
I usually prefer black teas, but I liked this one. The smokiness was a nice surprise. I would keep this in small batches for the occasional green tea moments.
smokey and mellow, this tea is great hot or as iced tea. :)
A brilliant tea. It's an every day green, nice and light but still flavorful. One of my favorites, and now a staple in my tea collection
this tea will put you to sleep in a very good way...
I was a little scared of this tea at first because when I opened it up, it smelled so... green, reminiscent of fresh cut grass. Thankfully, that mellowed out in the cup and it tasted wonderful. You could definitly taste the smokey notes without them being overpowering. Yum!
Like a mellower version of gunpowder. Worth the extra price.
I am a big fan of the gunpowder type teas. They are easy to work with and a make a nice bold cup. This one is great for the price.
Sleeping Dragon is perfect for those who are new to tea
A great all around green tea if you want the flavors of sencha without having to worry about making it bitter. This is a very forgiving tea and a little extra steeping won't ruin the batch.
I really liked it in a sense that I wasn't expecting. It tasted good, and when I finished I was left with an amazing aftertaste. It had an earthy taste that I liked and is amazing when I brew it with mint. This may well be one that I'll have to restock at home soon.
I love this tea! Being from a Chinese household, green tea was a standard. This brings me back to nice family dinners :)
Well, I think with this review I'm about to officially qualify as a tea snob. This is a perfectly good tea. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Not too powerful, not too light, not too bitter, a touch of smokiness but just a touch, reasonably balanced, and not very memorable. I think this is a tea that would be pretty acceptable to just about everyone. But there's the problem - it's such a middle-of-the-road tea that at the end of the cup, it winds up seeming boring. If you want to serve a tea that's broadly appealing and inoffensive to everyone - this is the perfect tea to choose. But the dragon is sleeping because it's bored.
One of my favorites that I've tried! I like everything about it- especially the smoky, green-tea flavor.
This is the perfect cup just before bed. I found it a little bland, but the flavor I did get was smoky and earthy. Overall quite tasty.
average tea nothing great nothing bad good to have around.
Similar to gunpowder, but with toasted sesame and roasted seaweed flavors thrown in the mix. Not too bright, not too deep. An excellent tea, though it doesn't have an overly unique flavor profile. I'd drink this as an everyday green tea, or perhaps mix it with osmanthus for an extra touch of sweetness.
