Instantly became my favorite of all the teas I've ordered. The smokiness is very present, but not overwhelming. Great balance of flavors, not too powerful if you're a tea novice. Will definitely be refilling this again soon!
An excellant tea! I loved watching the leaves steep and unfurl, and the little 'show' adds to the experience! I bought a sample, but will be buying a much larger bag in the future.

Definitely as described! The character is definitely similar to gunpowder, but much more mellow. Smooth, with a light smokiness and very satisfying.

Probably the most accurate name for a tea. It has a very chilled out nature to it. its smokiness is much more toned down than say lapsang souchong or even gunpowder. its floraly and earthy after flavor and undertones are very pleasent.
This is the little brother to Gunpowder. If you are wanting to head that direction with a green, but afraid to make the jump, start here. It's very mild, with a hint of smokiness not unlike Gunpowder, but less prevalent. It still has the grassy-ish flavor of a traditional green tea, but carries a great flavor with it. It makes a very nice cup.
While being a smokey blend, this tea is a bit less bitter and raw tasting than Gunpowder. It's smooth, and makes for a great accent tea addition for blended teas.
A tasty cup with an undertone of smokiness. I enjoyed the faint fruitiness to it, and I would order this again. Overall, an enjoyable cup a couple times a week so as not to wear it out.
This tea was alright. I tend to like a more mellow green tea. This one, however, was very grassy and strong. Not bad, just a bit more than I would prefer. It is very good with a bit of honey.
In this Sleeping dragon i do not taste the fruity notes as they refer but i do taste the smokiness. It really is a good tea. The smokiness is not overpowering but i would say from the teas that i have tried it is a medium smoke flavor.
Very similar to gunpowder, however a little bit better. Do believe it is worth a try.
I got a sample of this with my previous order and fell in love with it. It's by far my favorite green tea! Also it is absolutely beautiful to watch it brew. I highly recommend it.
Well obviously, I bought this because of the name. It has a pleasantly smoky bite to it. I could enjoy this one.
Got this as a free sample for sharing on facebook - I love unflavored green teas the most. I tried this one first with my new personaliTEA pot and loved it - but be sure not to make the mistake I did, and leave the tea leaves in the mesh too long. The flavor got overwhelming very quick!
This is a great every day tea for fans of Gunpowder. It's very similar, yet I think I prefer this one.
Gunpowder tea is my favorite so when I read that this tea was a 'softer' version of that tea, I had to try it. I was not disappointed! It has the smokey quality I love with more smoothness than gunpowder. Gunpowder is a cannon. sleeping dragon is a bullet.

This tea is strong. Not strong like a dragon incinerating your flesh and bones with its hot fiery breath but strong like the soothing warmth you might feel if you had the privilege of resting in front of the nostrils of a friendly sleeping dragon. Strong but warm and toasty. Buy this tea!
This was the first green tea I've bought from Adagio, and I wasn't disappointed. Sleeping Dragon is an appropriate name for such a powerful and beautiful tea.
it has an okay flavor, im not much into green teas actually just thought id give it a try.
Smells of hay and veggies. It was like a hay version of gunpowder in my opinion. Probably will not try again though. Unique taste for sure. Slightly bitter too.
!! As soon as I opened the sample and smelled it, I knew i would love it! Sweet raiseny , but with refreshing full 'green',like wholesome garden, smell. No grassy smell at all. Immediately tried it, and it's mild and full bodied and sweet and delicious. Definitly a 'buy in the big bag' tea , for me! And I brewed long and on hotter setting.No bitterness either, nice.Pretty stocked up on tea at the moment, but looking forward to when I need to order so I can order this.

A nice solid green tea. Warmer and more earthy than white monkey, very smooth.

This tea was a little on the strong side for me but my husband really likes it.
I was afraid to try this, expecting it to be super strong because of how it smelled in the bag, but it was actually very smooth. It took maybe sips to grow accustomed to the taste and I practically inhaled the rest of the cup. (I take my tea with 1sp of sugar)
Green isn't usually my tea of choice but this is good for when I absolutely must have some. It's lovely and calming in scent, bold in flavor, not even a bit grassy. It leaves a taste in my throat vaguely akin to sitting around a bonfire in the summer. I think if you like green teas you will love this.
okay I have to say that unlike everybody else, I had two cups of this and I am wired as hell, so I don't know what happened. This is a very light, golden green tea with a delicate but pronounced flavor. It does taste a bit like gunpowder, but not entirely.
I really enjoyed the mildness of this tea. I like green teas, but usually I find them a bit too bitter. This one was delicious! Perfect amount of smokiness!

I am not really a fan of green tea, but for the health benefits I wanted to try some again. Was curious about this tea because I read that it didn't have a grassy flavor, which is what I don't like. I am happy to say that Sleeping Dragon has become one of my favorite teas! I love the milder taste that it has and the slight smokiness. Will definitely buy again!
This is such a good tea to have in the evening. The light smokiness paired with very slight sweetness is definitely something to appreciate. I had a whole pot of this to myself. It's unmistakably a green tea - it has that vegetal taste after the fact, but I love that. Give this one a try. If you like gunpowder, you'll probably like this one, too. It's like gunpowder's milder kid brother.
Marvelous taste, not the least bit harsh even on the first steeping. Infused quite well 3 times, very surprising tea for such an inexpensive choice. I will definitely buy it again if it is still in stock.
Super calming and not grassy or smoky, exactly what I'm looking for in a green tea. I love the way the tea balls unfurl into big leaves during the steeping process.
This is rapidly becoming my favorite green tea! It has such a rich, smoky flavor, and I've discovered that I don't actually need to use a full teaspoon for a perfect cup. I also love using my glass mug for this, as the golden-green color is really quite lovely. Bottom line? I will absolutely purchase this again in the future. Love it!
Sleeping dragon is a very smoky and rich tea. It reminds me a lot of hojicha. Although I don't think I could drink a few cups of any kind of smoky tea every day, it definitely is great once or twice a week.
On a second note, I just tried to infuse the leaves more than once but the taste was awful.
When I first opened the package and smelled the tea I was worried it had gone bad. It smelled fermented! I thought perhaps after brewing it would taste different - alas, it did not. It has a vegetal, fermented flavor that I don't care for.
A sweet, light and smooth tasting Chinese green tea. Definitely a favorite among the green teas I've tried. It's great for those who don't like the grassy taste that is often associated with green teas.
If you like smokey green teas, this is a good choice. I purchased it on a whim and was quite happy with the taste. Also, it holds up to a second steeping well.

This is a decent green tea with a vegetal, spinachy taste. However, there is a distinct chemical note (maybe kerosene) that leads me to think this tea was processed cheaply. It is not a bad taste necessarily but is sort of distracting.
I got this because I like Gunpowder but it's a little too smokey for me. I think I'll stick with Gunpowder though.

this was really good as just a plain green tea. I personally prefer the Jasmine Green, but if you want something pure green, this is for you.
Very bitter, Very green. This is not a tea to forget about for even a moment to long. I did not like this tea at all.
At first I thought it smelled like stale cigarette smoke when brewed and was disappointed, but oh my did my opinion change. It's exactly like the description: sweet, but with a mild smokey taste. When I think of 'green tea' I think of this one. Very smooth too.
Sleeping Dragon is as other have said, Gunpowder's less bold cousin. It was a relaxing cup with a hint of sweet and less smokiness/earthy flavor. It was still a great cup of tea when you're looking for something green to drink.
