Sencha Overture Customer Reviews

Classic steamed tea from Shizuoka, Japan. Rich, brothy texture (when steeped as strongly as you might find in Japan), refreshing aroma. Rounded finish that coats the palate, sweet flavor reminiscent of tender steamed veggies and fresh seaweed.

Freshly brewed it honestly smells horrible, but don t let that deter you. Not sure how to describe the taste of this one, maybe quite astringent, but not drying of the mouth, just a quite sharp green taste to it...a really enjoyable green tea though.

Delicious fresh veggie flavor - sweet, smooth and clean. It makes me happy to drink this tea!

Lovely tea. It is more astringent than some greens that I've had but it gives the tea a fantastic depth

★★★★☆

Great sencha for the price. Not my favorite, but it’ll do!

★★★★★

Warm and earthy/grassy, great classic green tea if you are not into flavored greens.

Both tastes and looks like grass. If you're the kind of person who likes very leafy green tasting green teas, definitely the kind of green tea for you!

I ll be honest I m here because of Harold Finch. And this seems to be the week of trying new things and when this arrived I had to immediately brew up a cup. It does smell very green and you can catch a bit of seaweed hint to it. Overall after brewing and adding one sweetener, I really found it enjoyable.

My favorite tea of all time—the grassy, vegetal smell and taste profiles are perfection!

Was a nice introduction sencha. Very nice every day kinda of green tea.

This is one of my new favorites. Strong, bold but very smooth - a 'real' green tea. You are right to caution against 'over-steeping.' I left one to steep almost 4 minutes and was greeted with a hellacious bite! But if you drink it before it steeps 3 minutes you will be greeted with a pleasurable experience. Add it to the apricot green and raspberry green for my favorite Adagio greens.

Excellent sencha. Very fresh and beautiful green color. This is my go-to daily tea.

delicious! i really enjoyed the strength of this tea. Blending it with matcha too makes a delicious drink

★★★★★

I was looking for a new go-to green and this one did not disappoint. I can't believe how brothy this brew is. It's definitely sweeter than I generally prefer in a green (I usually really value a savory flavor), but I don't mind at all, the flavor is really complex and I love the mouthfeel. Definitely reordering.

Pretty good. Yeah. Tried it a while ago and it didn't leave a particularly strong impression

i really, REALLY wanted to like this. unfortunately, the beginning and end of my fondness for green tea is genmai cha, and sencha overture is nothing like it. when other reviewers call it broccoli water, i assure you they're spot on. this literally tastes like someone boiled spinach, removed the spinach, and poured the remaining water in a mug. please love yourself and get something else

★★★★☆

A good green tea with a more earthy tone to taste. Over steeping can make this blend very bitter, which is easy to do. The tea is smooth but bold to the palette.

★★★★☆

Good relaxing tea. Upsets my stomach but I think that is just my chemistry and has nothing to do with the tea.

★★★★★

A great replacement for my teavanna addiction to sencha Jade reserve. It has a more earthy flavor, but I absolutely love it

If you like green tea, this is absolutely one of the best ever. Clean green taste. Always in my tea closet.

★★★★☆

Great tea if you like a more earthy tasting green.

★★★★★

I like this tea very much. Reminds me of the tea I drank when living in Japan. It is a delicate green tea, needs to be steeped at a lower temp so as not to burn it. It has a very nice color and is a quieter version of other Senchas I've had.

I love the way this is really a strong green flavor that keeps me energized.

★★★★★

A high quality Sencha! I needed a replacement for Teavana and I found it.

Good sencha for daily tea, but I do have to use more of it than I'd like to get the proper flavor. Still a solid green tea though!

it would take someone with a keen sense of what this tea should be to be able to tell the difference between the premier and the overture, that being said they are both amazing green tea

A nice sencha, but not as tasty as the premium sencha.

★★★★☆

Lovely sencha. Has the aroma of the traditional sencha with the earthiness of a Chinese green. Will definitely order again.

Probably my favorite green tea so far after buying a bunch of samples. It's very fresh and clean tasting and the color is a very pretty light green color after brewing. It's getting me in the mood for spring!

Steeped at instructed temperature, sweet and grassy notes, but could have more body to it.

This is one of my favorite everyday Green Teas adagio offers!

★★★★★

This is my go to for a Japanese style green tea. When brewed, it has a nice, slightly sweet grassy aroma that's soothing. Taste wise, it's the perfect blend of slightly sweet and bitter, with just the right amount of astringency (very low).

I have grown quite fond of Sencha teas. Their broth-y and savory flavors help me with any snack cravings. This specific Sencha is up there in flavor. It has a nice deep and rich smell with the savory, broth flavor you would expect. I thoroughly enjoyed drinking this tea. I know I will return to this tea often.

This seemed like a decent sencha, but I preferred Sencha Premier. That said, I plan to sample the two senchas side-by-side at a later date, and will update my review accordingly.

★★★★★

Great green tea! The leaves are a wonderful, rich color and the scent is strongly vegetal. Wonderful, pleasing taste. This is definitely a green tea that I can get behind.

This is my go-to Green Tea, love the flavor and aroma!

My favorite green tea. Highly recommended.
Full bodied flavor.

★★★★★

I'm a refugee from Teavana, and was so happy that this Sencha was SO GOOD! Thanks, Adagio for being there!

★★★★★

Glad to get my all-time favorite green tea. The tea shipped to me is fresh and very flavorful.

★★★★★

I started with Kukicha, but I really wanted something less harsh. Sencha Overture is absolutely a step up, and exactly what I was looking for. Very smooth and a wonderful finish.

Lovely everyday green. And the gyokuro here is butter just smooth as silk. Try both and see for yourself.

★★★★☆

This is definitely my go to tea from now on. It's amazing how it can be robust but so delicate in flavor at the same time. I drink it plain or with a little bit of blue agave. By far my favorite green tea and I've had almost all of them.

I know that this tea is second flush, but really can't tell much difference from sencha premier.

My go to favorite, but probably not for everyone. Grassy, earthy flavor which I like, but others may not.

It's not awful, but it tastes very much like spinach and water with hints of green tea. I've drank far worse, but I've also drank far better.

Keep in mind I did steep longer and hotter than most people prefer, but that's the way I take all my teas.

In think this tea might be more enjoyable with a meal than on its own.

Really good green tea. I would recommend it for anyone who likes green teas and wants something with a strong, but smooth flavour.
