Love this tea. I actually prefer it to the more expensive Japanese teas. Has vegetal aroma and grassy taste which is what I look for in a green tea.
Classic steamed tea from Shizuoka, Japan. Rich, brothy texture (when steeped as strongly as you might find in Japan), refreshing aroma. Rounded finish that coats the palate, sweet flavor reminiscent of tender steamed veggies and fresh seaweed.

Love this tea. I actually prefer it to the more expensive Japanese teas. Has vegetal aroma and grassy taste which is what I look for in a green tea.
I tried this as part of a quest to find something similar to a tea I purchased a year or so ago from another shop. It said that it was a blend of Sencha and Dragonwell, so I purchased Adagio's Dragonwell and both Sencha varieties.
I'm so happy - this is the tea I was looking for! It's so lovely and flavorful. Whereas Sencha Premier was a bit too delicate for my tastes, Sencha Overture was just right, with a more robust sweetness and grassiness that felt almost like it was curling around my tongue with each sip. I need to get a bigger bag of this before Adagio's 'free shipping on orders of $25 or higher' deal ends. And speaking of money, I'm especially glad that the Sencha I love most also happens to be the cheaper one.
This was the 1st sencha and only I've tried. Was apprehensive about all this talk about 'grassiness.' Instantly I realized this is the taste I've been searching for. Can't yet compare to other senchas. Brewed for a little over 2 minutes at 165.
Very nice example of this type of tea. Gave it as a gift to a friend.
This is the best green tea I have tried so far I love it it's not too mild or too strong it has a nice brothy taste it's a very comforting cup of tea I have already reordered this has become my everyday go to tea
Great green tea. Light but flavorful can be served hot or cold. I prefer cold with ice
Clean and fresh taste. Perfect balance. It doesn't have the hay-like taste of some green teas. I love it hot or iced.
Good basic green tea. This is going to be my new morning go-to.
This is a great tea. While not a Gyokuro, it is an excellent alternative if you're on a budget and still want a great tea. Very mellow, vegetable notes, beautiful golden color.
Guess I'm not a fan of Seneca. Much stronger than the tea you use in your flavored green teas.
A bit like a mild matcha, definitely worth exploring but probably not a new go-to.
I keep trying green teas hoping I'll find one I like, sadly this was not it. I'm just not a green tea person!
A great sencha. Everyone should try this tea. Not over powering but still a strong flavor.
Good tea will be ordering it again, when I run out
Finally found a green tea that matched what we get at our local sushi house
I'm a fan of green teas and I've tried a fair share of the Adagio stock, but this is by far my favorite so far. Great 'green' flavor with a slightly sweet hint without being too grassy. Certainly deserves and has earned its 'everyday tea' moniker.
UPDATE: Still a favorite. For the price you really can't beat this tea if you like or love green teas.
This is still my favorite green tea. It is light and refreshing, and it's not too grassy.
This is one of my favorite green teas at Adagio. It is light, refreshing and calming. A great tea for just relaxing or to enjoy with a meal.
A very good Japanese sencha. Quite vegetal and very clean tasting. Handles multiple infusions well. Excellent for the price.
This was one of the few teas that I've thrown out. It's soupy, thick, and vegetal, like drinking overcooked spinach. Even with very short steep times and using less tea, this was never pleasant. (my typical brewing method is one level teaspoon of tea per 8oz of just-under-boiling water for 2-3 minutes).
ABSOLUTELY love this tea, I don't know if I'm missing something with the Sencha Premier, but I enjoy this strongly to the Premier!
Lovely, brothy, light. Great for spring and summer.
This is a great everyday tea. It tastes grassy without being bitter, almost savory.
I LOVE this tea! It is quite grassy with that pleasant seaweed character. I had purchased a different tea from another vendor which was almost four ties this price simply because I loved the flavor so much. Figured I'd give this a try to save some money at the expense of enjoyment. Definitely saved money and the flavor is almost identical. Will absolutely order this again.
This one is ok. Make sure to brew it exactly how the directions say. I like this one cold.
always good. best use for me it to add an extra kick to genmaicha or more flavor to some silver needle.
What a beautiful tea. The description is very accurate--it has a delicate vegetal flavor, with a distinct sweet/toasty aftertaste. I love it! It feels nourishing to drink, like a healthy vegetable broth.
Such a gorgeous Sencha. It's like drinking a cup of spring weather. Cut grass. A touch of sweetness. Wonderful.
I'm not a big green tea fan, but this tea is not overly grassy and has a fairly rich flavor.
My first green tea from Adagio. I steeped it or about a minute and it was fine. I was expecting better; perhaps my expectations were too high.
I honestly can't quite tell if I prefer this tea over the sencha premier. Both are excellent and smooth and a little grassy and very difficult to oversteep.
Good flavor just like the Sencha Premier, but has a tiny touch of astringency not found in the Premier. It's barely perceptible, if you don't mind it then Overture is a better value than the Premier since it's not as expensive. Either way you can't go wrong; try buying a sample of each and make your own comparison.
I knew this tea was a winner the moment I opened the package. It smacked me right in the nose with a complex, fruity, slightly sweet, green and grassy odor.
Once steeped, the flavor is very much like the odor, but more subtle and with the perfect amount of bitterness and bite that never crosses the 'too bitter' threshold. When steeped as recommended, Sencha Overture is medium-strength; I use double the recommended amount of leaves, which makes it very strong, just the way I like tea.
The brewed tea's color is a vivid, slightly cloudy grass-green in clear glass, a good sign of an outstanding green tea.
This is now easily one of my top two or three favorite teas across every category, including tisanes, blacks, greens, oolongs, pu-erh, rooibos, etc.
mmm like drinking a freshly cut lawn. Buttery smooth. Mind the steep time, or it will get bitter very quickly
I have sencha overture in tea bags at work but loose sencha premier at home.
One of my favorite green teas ever! It tastes like seaweed, but in a good way!
This is an average, acceptable green tea but that's pretty much as far as it goes. The grassy taste overpowers everything else. I've tried brewing this at the recommended time and it was watery. Tried brewing it longer and it helped just a bit.
Not one of my favorite teas, it has a strong green tea taste, and I'm more fond of black teas.
nice green. very grassy taste to it, makes a good everyday green. Even better cold for a great iced green like i had all the time in Japan.
This relatively cheap tea was actually a very pleasant surprise. It's extremely smooth and not bitter even when accidentally steeped for a long time!
This was just fantastic overall. Very smooth and tasty.
I've changed my my mind about this tea as I've gotten into green tea more. I've decided it's too bitter with no smoky or earthy overtures and it more expensive than the green teas I enjoy more.
I love tea...good for after dinner. Green tea is the best. Small bag great for travel.
a scalawag of a green tea. mischievous and irascible, this concoction tends to reduce gullibility and incrementally increase awareness of one's physical surroundings. is funny because it's true
This tea is very smooth, pleasant to drink.
Would recommend for an afternoon boost.
Amazing green tea. Fresh, smooth, and a little creamy. Perfect for when I crave a refreshing cup of tea.
My husband adores Golden Monkey and Sencha Overture teas. He likes his tea earthy and to 'taste like tea' - as opposed to me, a fan of flavored teas. This is a great tea for those who like to savor the taste of pure tea.
Good tea but easy to overbrew if you're not paying attention
My husband drinks this daily and absolutely loves it.
A nice basic green with mild character. It's a good go-to green.
