Was pretty good. Get about 2 steepings out of it. Pretty basic
Classic steamed tea from Shizuoka, Japan. Rich, brothy texture (when steeped as strongly as you might find in Japan), refreshing aroma. Rounded finish that coats the palate, sweet flavor reminiscent of tender steamed veggies and fresh seaweed.

Too strong I do enjoy the loose tea using the ingenuiTea small pot.
I love the smell of the dry leaves. It's kind of grassy with very sweet overtones. I wish I could get that sweetness to transfer into the tea. Instead, I'm left with a cup that's either light and grassy with some asparagus notes if i brew it for 2 minutes, or bitter and soapy if i brew it for 3 or more. The grassy 2-minute brew is very drinkable, but pretty unremarkable. Maybe I'm not brewing it right, but this is a very unforgiving tea.
Very basic sencha. Slightly sweet and vegetal. I was able to get only one infusion out of it, the second was too bland to be drinkable.
I'm really hoping to increase my rating of this tea eventually but for now this one is just "ok" for me. The vegetal grassiness of the tea really threw me off, but I will admit not really knowing what to expect when I started brewing this tea. The texture of the leaves when dry reminded me of seaweed that had been coated with oil and I was very surprised by how "oily" the leaves felt. Once brewed the leaves really opened up and there wasn't necessarily a scent of green tea and the tea itself didn't really smell like anything except earth. The taste was a bearable bitterness with a slightly grassy, smoky, vegetal taste. Given that I'm just getting into brewing green tea again I have much to learn about how to make this one great.
This is probably my favorite, although the sencha I got this year seemed to be crushed and a lot of the leaves get through the wire filter I use.
This is a wonderful tea, but be careful not to oversteep. At 180F for 3 min (as recommended by Adagio), this tea is green tea perfection. I alternate every other pot with the Chinese dragonwell so I really notice the rich "greenness" of the Sencha.
I'm a huge fan of japanese green teas, and of sencha specifically. Honestly, this tea was a little dissapointing at first- my first few brews were very bitter, but brewed for a shorter time, it improved a lot. Grassy and fairly satisfying, but not even approching Sencha Premier.
This is a rock solid green tea. The sencha overture's stout body is the sign of a green tea workhorse. Yabba Dabba Doo!
Excellent sencha. Has that grassy and savory flavor I love.
Folks, the sencha I received from you guys is absolutely horrible. It smells like hay and tastes like soap. I hope this is a bad batch because if this is what you're pawning off as Japanese green tea you're misinforming people. I have purchased much tea from on line (even you guys in the past) as well as in San Fran's Japan Town, local Asian markets, etc, etc. so this isn't a "I guess he just doesn't like sencha complaint". Even the lower grades in the Asian markets at least resemble what I'd expect in green tea. There's much better out there for about the same price. Oh yeah, and the infusing instructions are BS if you know anything about green tea.
A nice example of a Japanese green tea - a nice balance of tannins and grassiness. Be careful not to overbrew or use too much tea per cup of water.
Really enjoy this tea! It has a robust grassy flavor that may be an acquired taste, but definitely one worth acquiring! Reminds me of an early morning walk through a meadow in the late summer. Second steeping is quite nice too!
Like other have said, Sencha Premier is much, MUCH better. I tried filtered water, bottled waters, different times, and different temps, it always came out bitter. Sencha is supposed to have ocean accents, but man, this smells like fish (and dare I say it, fish with a urine accent). I don't know, maybe I got a bad batch, but this is definetly on my no list. The Sencha Premier is good though, with the right smells and taste.
It's a fresher, more grassy flavor which is nice. I don't have much to compare it to yet, but I do like it. It goes down clean and smooth.
Wondeful tea! The flavor was a little bit stronger than I expected, but if you use less to steep.
I'm sure this is a fine tea but it is too light for me and I don't find the taste pleasant. Too bad 'cause I have a lot of it to use. It has a nice green color (unlike Gunpowder for example)and a grassy taste.
One of the best greens I've ever had. This sample lasted exactly 4 days and I was sad to see it go. Such excellent vegetal taste. If you've never tried this, I would recommend at least a sample, you will not regret it. :)
Excellent green with complex flavors. Very refreshing.
I liked this one, not for everyone. I usually like all teas
The best japanese green tea for its price! I drink it every day
This is a great green tea, however I have not had it against others to compare. But I keep liking this more every cup. Lightly grassy, and a bit sweet in taste. I watch the clock on this one close, to not over brew. I go with 3 minutes.
My new favorite green! This was exactly what I was looking for a in a green tea and had a nice grassy flavor.
This is a perfect every day green. Just grassy enough with a lovely color. Will buy regularly!
A dependable everyday green. Not inspiring or surprising, but certainly a good cup to wake up to.
Not a good green. It tastes like the smell of wet grass.
I got this tea to train myself to like Japanese greens, and it's working. It's a little more grassy than the Chinese teas, and very prone to oversteeping. As long as the water and timing is exactly as prescribed it tastes great.
I found it to be disgusting. The people who are selling it are most likely laughing in our faces right now for convincing crazy Americans to buy grass and soak it in near-boiling water for a little bit. Grass with a slight hint of fertilizer. Maybe some weed killer.
A little grassy, but time/amount can be changed to make up for it. It's a good green, pretty much what one expects from Adagio.
FANTASTIC filler tea. When mixed with other black/green teas, really adds a nice background
Not my cuppa tea! The quality is great but don't care for the flavor.
This is a great tea, I would order it again for sure.
Decent Japanese green tea. A little more grassy than Chinese green.
Not terrible, don't get me wrong, but a bit grassy for my taste. It's possible this tea is just touchy and I keep doing it wrong. I still like it, I just won't be drinking it more than once in a while.
Bright and crisp taste, not too grassy. Very enjoyable.
This is a pleasant green tea. It has a nice, bright flavor without being too much.
Nothing special here, good or bad. The leaves look and feel like something that would drop off a plastic christmas tree. Taste is ok, but i prefer the kukicha or the genmai cha.
Perhaps I'm not brewing it correctly but I simply don't seem to enjoy this as much as my other greens.
Wasn't too thrilled with this one. I'm not the best tea steeper around, but I usually can find the right blend of temp and time for most green teas, but no matter what I did with this one, it just tasted a bit too grassy...
Really between good to great. Very hard to brew properly, but great when it's right. It's very unforgiving of too hot water or too long steeping. For an everyday tea, Genmaicha is more forgiving and less expensive. Sencha has a wonderful taste when properly prepared.
This is a good blend but watch the tempature as too hot of a tempature will make this hard on the stomach.
This is a great everyday tea. I'm looking forward to trying premier sencha.
Just fine if your looking for some plain old green tea. Try it at least twice, it may be an aquired taste.
A good, basic green tea. Brewed correctly it's just yummy.
This was a good sencha, not the best but a good value purchase!
A classic Sencha. Sweet, grassy and a medium bodied.
I really didn't enjoy this tea. I am new to tea but this had a grassy flavor I just don't care for.
I generally like green teas and this one was decent, but the underlying flavor of lawn clippings didn't help to pique my tastebuds. Definitely recommended if you like a strong organic taste, but not so much if you prefer something smoother.
One of my favorite green teas. I use it as my daily green tea. It mixes well with peppermint or spearmint leaves. It also tastes great with fresh cut ginger mixed in it. (Use about a dime size amount of ginger root with 2 tsp of sencha and steep as normal)
Very good tea! Great tea to enjoy all day long!!!
