I use this to brew kombucha at home and it has a lovely grassy flavor and isn't bitter at all
Classic steamed tea from Shizuoka, Japan. Rich, brothy texture (when steeped as strongly as you might find in Japan), refreshing aroma. Rounded finish that coats the palate, sweet flavor reminiscent of tender steamed veggies and fresh seaweed.

I use this to brew kombucha at home and it has a lovely grassy flavor and isn't bitter at all
Love this tea, especially when fresh, nice oils, not dry. Grassy. Good tea in the morning, get about 4 good flushes before fading. Do not overheat or let sit in hot water too long, will get bitter, especially on the first flush.
I liked this tea, but I didn't like it as much as other teas that are similar, namely Gyokuro, that were better. However, the more reasonable price might make this a good option for the budget. Its a good, solid Japanese green tea with a smooth and somewhat grassy flavor.
I tried this last night for the first time. I hadn't had a Japanese green for awhile. I like it! Not blown away but not disappointed either. It seemed more bitter to me than other green teas (and I put a good amount of sugar in my tea! :) But, bitter, done well, can be a nice thing.
This is a very mild sencha. It has a gentle flavor, a beautiful color and low astringency. Its not something I would bust out the fireworks over but it is a good everyday tea that would be good with a variety of foods or wagashi but not for ochazuke.
Slightly floral on the nose, with a good vegetal flavor. It doesn't have that heavy butter flavor that you find in some green teas, so you won't be tasting it for days after drinking it.
This is amazing, I can't get enough of it! It has a very strong flavor characteristic of the Japanese green teas.
Was neither impressed or put off by it. Have had much better sencha for around the same price. Did not hold up to repeat steepings. Seemed old.
This is only the second unflavored sencha I've tried but I think I prefer a flavored sencha. Just not my taste for tea.
If I hadnt had sencha premier, I would have rated this as Great :-)
This tea is good but it's important not to steep over the recommended 2 minutes. If you you steep too long it will be bitter.
This tea smelled good, but tasted very acetic. It had very few of the qualities I normally enjoy in a sencha. This was my first tea I purchased from Adagio, but I hope it will not be my last. After seeing the rave reviews it got and being a lover of sencha, I purchased a pound. In the future I will try before I buy and will eschew the cheaper teas, as these seem to be of low quality (which explains the bargain price).
Nice bitter flavor that is good first thing in the morning.
This is my third time ordering this tea. The last two years it was a great daily green tea. With the newest batch there is hardly any flavor and the leaves feel waxy. The tea is much different than before. I'm very disappointed with the change in quality.
Clean and rich taste. This is hard to find elsewhere.
A nice cup of sencha, very well done and was great iced.
I wanted to love this tea, but instead found it lacking. It's a good green tea, but not the best. Kukicha remains my favorite green, hands down!
I love the grassy taste. However not as good as gyokuro. But its a good sub when you can't afford the finer teas. =)
Certainly not my favorite green tea. I find it difficult to brew without adding bitter notes... really have to watch the water temp and brew time with this one.
A very good green. Nice robust leaves. Taste is strongish, but not grassy or bitter. Color and taste both stand up to multiple steepings.
I had heard good things about Sencha, and once I had a cup of this, I was completely turned away.
A really great green! Has great flavor that never crosses into the 'lawn clippings' arena of taste, nor does it have that odd fishy taste that some greens carry. If you're looking for a solid tasting green, look no further!
It is gyokuro for the poor man)) Pretty similar buy much more rough than gyokuro...
I enjoyed this tea, from it's pre-brewed aesthetic appeal to the taste of it after brewing, however, I don't think that it was worth the 15 dollars per 4 ounces that I spent on it. It was very on par with the kukicha, which is a 8 dollar per 4 ounce. However, the sencha was pretty good as long as the brewer stayed at a 2 minute steep time.
Nice, simple green tea flavor and I drink it everyday. I can get about 2 steeps from 1 tsp serving. It's a little bitter if steeped too long, but that's to be expected. Recommended for everyday tea.
I found this tea to be OK, not great, not bad. It can be a bit bitter compared to other green teas even when the steep time is kept short. But it does have a nice grassy taste and smell, color is ok, and the price is reasonable. I prefer Gyokuro.
Classic, simple green tea. Nothing to it but to do it.
I was not overly impressed with this Sencha Overture. Maybe my sample was from the bottom of the barrel, because it was mostly powdered with very few long needles. It does have the nice grassy taste that I enjoy in a green tea of this type, but I like Gyokuro better.
It's the classic, all day tea. A hard thing to screw up
Very mild, when properly prepared of course. There were a few times I forgot and let the tea over steep, but even then it wasn't as bitter as store bought/bagged tea.
This tea has that great grassy flavor I sometimes crave. I like it.
I drink dragonwell and white monkey most often, and so this sencha is something different to switch things up. Really flavorful and I just love it! This one will definitely be a staple for me.
This is a really great green tea. My favorite from Adagio so far
Mixed feeling when I first tried this one, but grew on me by teh end of the second cup. I have found it geets a sweeter less dry flavor as the tea cools, makes a nice iced tea.
I brewed the leaves three times, every cup was great! the 4th cup was okay too ;)
I am mostly a Chinese Green Tea drinker and thought I'd try something different. I liked this tea but I still prefer Chinese Greens. Not a bad tea by any means and I enjoyed the pungency it offers, but it's rather mild and can be bland. I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me but I find Chinese teas to be of higher quality and with more flavor. Sencha is nice for a change of pace and I will finish what I bought but I don't think I'd buy it again. For the price, I can get something that suits my taste better. Here's the twist: this tea is about twice the price of Sencha Overture and it has a very similar flavor and blandness.
This is what I would like to think of as a great, "true to the roots", green tea. At the core, it's what you'd think green tea to taste like. For me, that's just what I wanted with this blend. I didn't want a bunch of other tastes, so this was perfect for me. To some, it might be a little bland, but it's a fantastic, "no frills" green tea and I'd highly recommend it!
Highly recommended as an introduction to the wonderful world of robust and vegetal Japanese green teas.
Excellent tea, it has a nice, strong grassy flavor.
Very solid tea, with little change in taste from beginning to the end. Highly recomended.
I love, love, love this tea. It has a very grassy asparagus flavor and can be strong if you are one who does not like strong tea. Luckily I love strong green tea so it is perfect.
Perhaps this isn't the high-grade sencha most people might be seeking. However, it does have a nice, strong, grassy flavor that I just love. It's sometimes difficult for me to return to Chinese greens after having had this.
Great color, but really finicky about temperature -- if I overheat it, it turns quite bitter.
I'm just getting into green teas a bit more, and this one I liked a lot. The flavor isn't as intense as a deeper steamed green like Fukamushi which is very refreshing.
I hadn't had sencha since I recieved some from the owner of a Buddhist temple in Japan and I remembered it being delicious and grassy. This was good, but not anywhere as good as what I had before. The leaves are broken and in pieces as opposed to the long strands of the tea I was given. I do like sencha overture enough to order it again, although it is a bit on the expensive side for a tea I don't love. Perhaps premiere is more like what I'm looking for, I plan to try it next.
Not a bad green tea, but nothing great. Tastes way too fishy for my liking.
Really good everyday green tea. Has that grassy flavor that I love.
This tea is very different - the taste really reminds me of grass. But in a good way. It definitely is not an everyday tea for me, but once in a while it quite fits my palate.
This tea is rather finicky to brew. It is a good introduction to sencha, and would make a good daily drinker.
Excellent tea for every morning/day/evening. Although, some people might find it too strong for their taste.
