Sencha Premier Customer Reviews

Classic steamed green tea from Shizuoka, Japan. Crisp and clean cup, notes of freshly steamed edamame. Refreshing, sweet, and much more delicate than most Senchas. If you're new to Sencha (and the vibrant teas of Japan in general), this would be a great place to start.

I love this tea. I am a huge green tea fan and drink at least three cups daily. This is the perfect green tea if you like a more 'grassy' flavor which I adore.

This is a wonderful green tea as a solo component or when used in blending other flavors. I actually got the chance to brew it with oat milk, and it was lovely when combined with just a tiny spoon of maple syrup. I prefer it brewed normally, but it definitely works well when used with 'warm' flavored ingredients.

One of The better and lighter green teas that I’ve had over the years, a very refreshing grassy taste to it

Love the smooth taste the best Sencha I’ve had. It is one of my primary teas I use for my own blending

★★★★★

I love sencha tea and this is the perfect choice. Light fragrant and earthy, spectular! My most favorite of all green teas.

This is the kind of tea that pairs well with any food you have. Very springy, stays strong for at least 2-3 pots of tea.

I usually brew Gong Fu style. Thick clean mouth feel. Long lasting taste of edamame and fresh-cut grass. The tea usually leaves me feeling calm and content.

This is my husband’s go to tea! He drinks 3-4 cups of it a day. It is the only green tea he drinks.

I ordered this tea for my husband, who is particularly fond of earthy green teas. He's been brewing 2 tsp in about 12 oz of water, 2 minutes, and around 160-190° (we don't have a kettle with temperature control and our thermometer is apparently broken, so we measure by water apperance and touch). He said that 2 minutes gives the tea a lighter taste, while 3 minutes brewing time offers more depth in its flavor profile. Although I personally haven't tasted this tea yet, every time he brews it he only uses our glass mug because the colour of the brewed tea is a stunning spring green!

My first loose leaf green tea and I can never go back to bagged. It's gentle and smooth, but you have to take good care in the brewing process it or it gets astringent fast.

An excellent and soft sencha tea. Delicate and very vegetal. A good every day tea to drink.

I would give this a 3.5 stars. It is very good as far as Sencha goes, but the Gyokuro is the next level, so I could not in good faith give this a 4 star.

I made my Sencha Premier cold with burdock and green tea honey. I was so afraid to burn it if I made it hot, so I made it cold, possibly against my better judgment. It is extremely strong, which is why I'm not sure if this was really intended to be a cold tea. Unfortunately, just due to the overwhelming flavor, I had to knock it down a couple pegs. I don't have a lot left, but I will try it again. At this point, I would only recommend this tea if you like very strong green tea flavors.

Still a favorite green tea!

This tastes like a high quality sencha but I always go back to gyokuro

Not as big a fan of senchas, but this is a very good example of the type.

★★★★★

very nice sencha! it is very high-quality green tea!

This is a wonderful tea for those that love their grassy, Japanese green teas. It is much more vegetal than I prefer, but still a very good sencha. As with most Japanese greens, you do need to be careful with the water temp, as too much heat will make it bitter. @adagioteas

Exactly what I want in a green tea - earthy, vegetal, grassy, clean. Steep leaves at least twice.

A lovely tasting green tea. Be sure to use a little at a time because this tea can be pretty intense, in my opinion. Start small, then adjust from there!

A good basic Sencha tea. It's your regular green tea to go to.

This tea was very grassy. I was expecting a green tea flavour, but this was quite different from most green teas I've ever tasted. Probably not one I would go back, willingly at least.

Such a delicate sweet non acid green tea. I had tried warm first but would definitely drink this cold in summer. Don't overbrew or you will miss the sweetness.

I’m always hesitant about trying Japanese teas from a company that doesn’t focus on them exclusively, but I decided to give Adagio’s sencha a try anyway. While it is a tasty tea on its own, it simply doesn’t live up to what a sencha should be, in my opinion.
When I opened the bag, I didn’t smell much of the grassy scent a good sencha usually gives off. When brewed, the liquid is sort of a pale brownish-amber, unlike the green or yellow that sencha should have. And the taste, while good, is much more akin to a Chinese green tea than a sencha. It’s still tasty, but you can get better sencha elsewhere — and you can get better green teas from Adagio.

a little bit too grassy for me, despite being a green tea lover. would probably be better with sweetener or milk to cut down on the vegetal taste. @adagioteas

Tastes a lot like Gyokuro but friendlier on the palate, it's sweeter and not as overwhelming. Perfect for springy days and slightly warmer temperatures, grassy, a gentle calming blend.

My favourite Sencha of all time. I've tried other brands and nothing comes near to the flavour this tea brings

★★★★☆

Way better than Sencha Overture in my book! I wanted to like Overture but couldn't quite. But Premier is superior in ratings and flavor. It does have a taste I think of as seaweed, but it's light. There is some astringency/bitterness, but again, it's mild. I think this would be particularly delicious as the finish to a Japanese meal-- likely very complementary (duh). Looking forward to testing the theory sometime soon.

I tried all the green teas Adagio would sell me. This one was even better than the mighty Gyokuro. Just bought my second pound of it.
