Sencha Premier Customer Reviews

Classic steamed green tea from Shizuoka, Japan. Crisp and clean cup, notes of freshly steamed edamame. Refreshing, sweet, and much more delicate than most Senchas. If you're new to Sencha (and the vibrant teas of Japan in general), this would be a great place to start.

Sencha Premier, is the real Japanese tea . My initial reaction when I first had it was , I have a liking of this unique flavor, nothing sweet at all. It is not very strong but thos ingredients you can taste it if you let it linger in your mouth.

★★★☆☆

Green tea that was too grassy for my taste buds. CT 11/18/2023.

I almost ruined this one again, but I glanced at the packet before pouring the water and let it cool down a little. So nice and light when properly steeped. I think it was 2 mins @ ~160°

CommuniTEA portion: 165 for 2 minutes. Oh I love me a grassy tea! Obviously vegetal but there was a slight sweet note on the back end. Held up to multiple steps and wonderful sips.

I ended up enjoying the tea. I followed people’s advice and used cool water and short steep time

This is a very mild tea. Not much flavor, boring, & a little 'grassy.'

I’m a sencha fan and this one is a hit with me. 2 min at 165 F and it holds its bright flavor carried over from the fresh scent.

I tried. Just... no. It's so vegetal and seaweedy that I couldn't get past the aroma. If you love Japanese greens, I'm sure this is right up your alley, though.

Clean vegetal aroma from the dry leaves. 2 min @ 160. Beautifully clear pale green liquor. There's a hint of seaweed that dissipates quickly. Nice savory flavor, light astringency. Second steep 2 min @ 160 mild astringency. Pleasant and peaceful experience with this delicious green tea.

I like a nice Sencha now and then; but this wasn't in my top 3. The unami flavor was a bit stronger than I prefer. I broke my own rule and sweetened it with honey. It was a good cup of tea, but not a favorite.

Very tasty grassy and vegetal green tea. Sencha is not my favorite but I did enjoy this.

It's quite vegetal but drinkable.I'm not much of a green tea fancier. It's just okay for me, better than some others I've tried.

This one is SO finicky to not overheat/overbrew. I like a nice grassy green, but there's really no room for error here, which means it's just not ever going to suit my tea prep style. If you have a thermometer and set a timer, I bet it's great!

It’s just too earthy for me. Although lighter in its earthy-ness than other teas.

A bright fresh green tea. The temperature and time is crucial to avoid bitterness. I added a tiny amount of matcha honey for a lovely morning cup.

I open my communiTEA packet to the smell of fresh cut grass. The flavor is fresh and clean, grassy, and bit nutty. It has a mild buttery mouthfeel. Fantastic!

This one has a nice savory veggie taste to it. It's not overly grassy tasting to me.

oddly addictive cup of sencha, I just kept sipping trying to figure out what I was tasting, very vegetal, somewhat sweet, and an Unami profile as well, I really liked it by the end of the cup

Tasty green with hints of sweet and light smoothness. Vegetal and delicate, I steeped mine at too high of a temperature after looking closer at the packet, so it was slightly astringent, but not too bad!

You definitely need to watch your water temperature and steep time with this one. Cooler water than usual and a short steep time produce a delicious, slightly astringent cup full of flavor. There is an intriguing combination of floral, mineral, and grassy flavors going on with a sweet finish. You can get multiple steeps from this tea.

By far the best green tea I’ve ever had! Got it during the sample sale and I’m hooked. Was a bit hesitant about the price but we’ll worth

Really great tea. It was the first time I ordered. Will reorder again and again and again and again.

I love grassy green teas and this one hits the spot. Overall a good tea for a late and relaxing evening

★★★★☆

This one isn’t bitter; it’s vegetal but not nutty, pleasant and pretty smooth overall. Pleasant with some milk added. Not all green teas do well with milk added.

Sencha Premier is my every day green tea. It's earthy and rich, with a heavy tone of nori without the fresh-cut-grass note a lot of greens fall victim to.

I really enjoy this Sencha. It’s delicate with a fresh taste. I only drink green teas, black has too much caffeine for me, and this one is quickly being added into my collection of go to teas.

High quality sencha in comparison to the lower grade Sencha Overture, which, while nice is a little underwhelming at times. This one I save for more special occasions. Be careful with brewing temperature and time are you will get a disappointing bitter cup!

I really love this tea. My favorite tea is green but like to have black in the morning and green in the afternoon. I prefer green teas that have a more nutty grassy taste this tea fits in really nice. This tea is what I purchase the most. I have a cup also most everyday when I get home from work. This is my go to tea in the afternoon still. Love the flavor.

This is my must-have standard green tea in the house. I prepare the tea either in the kyusu (preferred) or in a tea infuser when I'm in a hurry. I usually add tablespoon of leaves in the infuser and make a quick rinse with room temp water (cover the leaves with water, wait a second, then release the tea in to the chamber for dumping, which get the smaller particles out of the tea that would otherwise join the cup). Next, I pour 180F water over the leaves. After 45 seconds I release the tea and it's ready to enjoy. I can get two infusions from this method and the results suit me. If I have the kyusu tea pot + time, I use the kyusu :)

A wonderful sencha green tea; I took this with a little honey, and it was wonderful; it tasted grassy and of spring in the best way possible. I would definitely recommend this; it's lovely, sweet, buttery, and just an overall wonderfully delicate and dedlicious green tea.

It seemed to lack something found in other green teas. I hadn't considered myself a sencha person before ordering and had hoped this would change my mind.

Fun Britney flavor. I used to think I didn't like Japanese green teas because of the gassiness, but this scratches my itch.

★★★★☆

This was a good tea but not what I expected of a green tea. I was hoping that this would be a cheaper alternative to the Gyukuro but it is actually very different. This is a non-shaded green tea and has a brighter, less aromatic, more herby and less vegetal. More for beginners and those who find the astringency of green tea to be overbearing. It is very difficult to oversteep or overheat this tea. I found that its taste remained stable throughout higher temps and doesnt have the volatile aspects of Gyukuro which requires precise dialing to get the right flavor. Overall, if you are new to green tea then I could not think of a better place to start especially at such a reasonable price.

Nice clean tasting cup. reminds me of a clean koi pond and it refreshes the senses and cleans the palate

I prefer this one to the Overture variety, the flavor seems much more balanced. A great, vegetal green!

One of the best green teas I've ever had. Very top quality and enjoyable. You really get what you pay for with this tea.

I recently had the pleasure of trying a Sencha Premier tea, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. This Japanese green tea is known for its high quality and delicate flavor, and I was certainly not disappointed.
One thing that stood out to me was the tea's aroma, which was also quite floral and refreshing. It was a pleasure to inhale the fragrant steam rising from my cup, and it added to the overall sensory experience of drinking the tea.

★★☆☆☆

I wanted to like this tea, but could not get past the overpowering, undesirable taste. I think I will stick to my white and black teas. Green just isn't my thing.

★★☆☆☆

I should've paid more attention to the description of this tea as 'delicate.' My fault! This is really *very* light Japanese green tea, so light in fact I can barely taste it. This may be a good start if you've never tasted Japanese green tea, but otherwise I'd go for something bolder.

★★★★☆

It's essentially a toned down version of the Gyokuro in terms of the vegetal aroma/taste. It's still good, but after trying both I honestly prefer matcha instead.

Wasn’t a big fan of this tea. It tasted stale or old.

It’s an alright Japanese style green tea but is rather temperamental to hot or long steeps. When done correctly, you get a nice but somewhat light somewhat subtle grassy flavor of light green complexion. Rather challenging to keep the leaves out of the tea regardless of the mesh you use if that matters to you. Still, probably the best Japanese style green tea from adagio at this price point

4.5g to 16 oz. Overall was just kind of weak? I'm going to try next time with more leaves and see if that helps.

This is not a favorite of mine. I think I like green tea with a bit of flavor mixed in, like the vanilla green. I did not care for the flavor at all.
